Guidance     Re dark-night-of-the-soul times: The way a desperate person looks at his downside determines what if anything he does in that moment about the situation.  Determination, when we are weak, focuses what resources we do have on doing something that just-maybe can turn the situation around.  Determination bypasses the paralysis that despair can bring on.   In bad times, it's a person's focus or attitude, or the way he characterizes (within his own heart) a terrible fix, that either attracts paralysis or gets him doing something - anything - rather than doing nothing.
