Tarot Readings for You for June 12, 2015 Friday©
GUIDANCE We who are understanding types have to thank our abusers and would-be abusers for making life easier to figure out, don’t we? Honest people just don’t get what the horde of mouthy moochers are born knowing, do they? By our bruises we are educated about asserting ourselves not too much and not too little. Another side of our messages today is left over from yesterday – the part about not admitting, not talking about some things we know. We also speak of knowing how to live on a shoestring – admitting that too is being under pressure. We close with snapshots of self-restraint.

Queen of Cups – Seven of Wands – Four of Pentacles

.
LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES
.………
……….
.……..…….. Queen of Cups and Four of Pentacles are knowing. Queen of Cups is on the naïve side sometimes, and she is figuring things out; but she means ‘in the know’ as well. (Look at the neighbor cards.)
Four of Pentacles’ lips are sealed, and he has insider knowledge – has even secrets to hide – but he means being in denial as well. (Look at the neighbor cards.) Neither Queen of Cups nor Four of Pentacles are active – just thinking and feeling.
In the middle, we have Seven of Wands on the attack … or defending from an attack of pushiness.
You could say Queen of Cups is thinking about; Seven of Wands is confronting (him); Four of Pentacles, with what she knows and hasn’t (yet) said anything about. We have the Neanderthal getting mad and upset – Seven of Wands of course – that his sweet li’l gal (Queen of Cups of course) is figuring him out … so he restrains himself, gets quiet (Four of Pentacles of course).
Too many stories here. Too many sentences.
Queen of Cups is the understanding woman – often, the woman who understands her man. She is the perfect foil, therefore, for the type of fellow Seven of Wands represents. You can see how a person who is unassertive and understanding would draw a person who is assertive and uncivilized. They make a pair until one of them gets over the game they share.
Queen of Cups is that sweet mama of the cave-man son (Seven of Wands) that she is in denial (Four of Pentacles) about.
You can also see Seven of Wands being up-in-arms about not getting enough of what’s his, because Four of Pentacles is ‘not enough’ and is holding onto what is his in a greedy cheap way.
Queen of Cups……….Queen of Cups is the stereotype blond. (You actually need another card to say ‘dumb blond,’ and we had that a while back here.) Her spectrum turns on degrees of thinking. There’s Queen of Cups being the blonde, the naif. That’s the Queen of Cups who is the loyal wife or girlfriend who believes in her man. There’s Queen of Cups figuring things out. There’s Queen of Cups knowing, which dovetails with High Priestess (and under certain scenarios with Queen of Pentacles and Nine of Pentacles (women who are skilled and knowledgeable).
The court cards (all the noble titles – King, Queen, Knight and Page) are types of people in Tarot Verbatim™ (not hair color … ). These cards expand to apply to the traits that card means … so Queen of Cups can mean ‘thinking’ and ‘being loyal.’ Feel your way into this if you are learning Tarot.
Seven of Wands…………Seven of Wands, more than any other card, exemplifies and demonstrates the fact that each card stands for all sides of actions and attitudes in the stories its illustration tells. Trespassing or being trespassed upon. Invading turf or defending against that. Being the one mouthing off, or dealing with the loudmouth. Remember this flip-side sort of approach: It opens doors in your understanding of Tarot.
Our illustration is about some neighbors getting together to take someone’s land. This happens all the time in the town I live in; I was supposed to have been a victim of it. Small inbred towns anywhere are full of these Tammany Hall tales and Tammany Hall types.
So Seven of Wands, from the perspective of the defender of his land, is self-defense, standing up for your position, being assertive, and being outnumbered in a struggle or fight. Seven of Wands is ‘I’m mad as hell and not going to take it anymore,’ and ‘You can’t do that to me.’
Seven of Wands, from the point of view of the attackers, describes the demanding mooch type, the mouthy adolescent type, the nutcase on the soapbox, the drunk who demands the car keys, etc. Seven of Wands shows the attitude of ‘I’m going to teach you a lesson,’ as well as ‘What’s yours is mine.’ It aptly represents the ‘Get the rich’ attitude we see in propaganda lately in the United States. It is the attitude of a customer who wants his money back and is outraged and indignant.
Four of Pentacles……….Four of Pentacles is when you are tight in the gut. Four of Pentacles is also when you don’t have enough of what it takes, or when you are broke. You are doing without – living ‘on a shoestring.’
Four of Pentacles, you are subdued. You have something to hide, or you are keeping a secret (or a secret is being kept from you).
Four of Pentacles, you are clinging to something or someone,
Four of Pentacles, you are alienated; you are odd man out – excluded from the in-crowd.
Four of Pentacles, you are sulking or you are seething. You are giving someone the silent treatment – or you are getting that silent treatment from someone.
Four of Pentacles can be austerity or it can be the cheapskate. Many books entitle Four of Pentacles ‘the miser,’ obviously because he is grasping his gold.
Four of Pentacles represents all shades of both repression and restraint. Repressing feelings. Feeling inferior. Being broke, or bankrupt, or having such a lost very little is left.
Speaking of that, Four of Pentacles goes hand-in-hand with the ‘loss’ cards like Five of Cups and even Tower (bankruptcy, disaster).
Our protagonist (hero of our story) sits in the middle of the road outside of the town – alienated, holding onto what he has left for dear life, staring ahead numbly.
Not very often Four of Pentacles is hardening yourself against your environment or your circumstances.
.
A flip side is that, if you are the Type A overbearing self-justified enrichment machine, you should eschew (That means avoid like the plague.) those sweet kind loyal harmless believers-in-you that could pass for fodder-on-my-way-up. This spread reminds you how vindictive naifs feel the moment they ‘get it’ about who you really are. Secret enemies of any stripe are a hazard in any occupation, in any situation.
But we present the more common side: that of the under-duress true-believer, the understanding good-guy or good-girl … because you don’t have to be a lady by gender if you are a lady (civilized person) by persuasion. We play the movie of the disillusion that comes from faith in most anything, especially faith in the Type A on the way to glory. Just ask Steven Foster … not the songwriter.
