So why does all this sound like ‘Who’s on first?’ All three of our Tarot seats are filled by cards about things being out of our control, things being confusing in some way. Six of Wands is ‘Appearances are deceiving’ and ‘Things are not what they seem.’ We have false friends and and a win that only seems to be one in Six of Wands. Seven of Cups is the evil spirits on the loose, chaos and confusion. Seven of Pentacles is ‘Duh, I don’t know.’
This spread is a good example of how to handle all the cards meaning the same things, with no action described. (That’s if you don’t just pick them up and ask your question again … maybe another day.)

Six of Wands Six of Wands can be the blind leading the blind, or it can be about deliberate misleading. Someone has an agenda, is deceiving or using or double-crossing friends in our illustration. Six of Wands is also about a campaign or cause, and about ‘getting with the program’ or ‘going along with’ something – maybe the crowd. . People are out to get ya, or at least persuade you (maybe against your self interest, maybe to serve theirs). The illustration tells a story about a traitor in the army (of King Richard the Third) who is going to betray its victory to his own agenda. Six of Wands is a frenemy in the woodpile, or at least a suggestion not to trust the environment.
It has other meanings not pertaining so social situations, but we are not using them. It can indicate something is counterproductive, for instance.
Seven of Cups Seven of Cups is when you’ve blown it, when things are way beyond your control right under your nose. It is about disparate parts, a mess, things scattered about like debris. The illustration shows the sorcerer’s apprentice story or Pandora’s Box story, in which the evil spirits are let loose, and the one good one is still locked up. (The covered cup represents the trapped good-guy spirit.)
Seven of Cups also bring the words for the way you feel when chaos happens – brings these into your sentences: mind-boggling, amazed, confused, shocked, befuddled – words like those.
Seven of Cups is when anything can happen, when the poop has hit the fan and kerflooey is upon the scene.
Seven of Pentacles One of the ‘duh’ cards that can also instruct you as the reader to put the answer in the form of a question. It means such things as ‘it seems,’ as well as to wonder and puzzle. Illustration is the fella in his garden wondering whether his vines will bear fruit because it’s too early to tell yet.
He is never sure about things. You never know, he says. I doubt. I ain’t sure about doing that, or whether that is a happening thing, or whatever.
Seven of Pentacles ponders, asks himself, contemplates, is unsure, wonders why or wonders whether, guesses, considers …. Questions are being asked here such as isn’t that, should he, could he, is that why, who would think, what does, maybe you should, how could. Seven of Pentacles is it seems, and then there’s … I don’t know … somehow. And that is why the illustration is the fellow leaning on his shovel wondering whether he will have cucumbers, whether the plants are opposite genders.

Things going to hell is normal. Sometimes you lose control of your vehicle and end up in la-la land believing something that, later, you will never figure out why you went there and did that. This happens to everybody. Just hope your dose is brief. If you got a group of people together and discussed this subject, everyone would be able to pinpoint that phase in his or her life … everyone who was honest about the biography, anyway.
