He is having the time of his little … short? … life. So sun is about fun, vacation, kids and kid stuff, recklessness, being free – especially of the rules, avoiding or escaping or getting out of just about anything, being happy, enjoyment of life, going AWOL, and even relief of the ‘Whew!’ type.

Three of Pentacles is people working something out together, coming to agreement, each party doing his part – all of which applies to social life, business life, love life, and court proceedings. It is a legal card because the builder, there, is using the blueprints to demonstrate he abided by the contract and needs be paid his final, large, draw. Three of Pentacles is any kind of meeting, including a meeting of minds – being on the same page with others. Three of Pentacles is a team of people who accomplish something together. Each party doing his part fair and square is a big part of Three of Pentacles’ applications.

Sun is reckless abandon before the consequences. Sun is that ‘I just wanna have fun’ callous playboy, and the brat he was when he was when he was a kid. This card can mean actual sunshine too.
You see a nude brat AWOL from, maybe, his bath. He is atop, bareback and little arms akimbo, a surly pony who is about to have no more of this. All his meanings arise from his illustration.
Sun often translates fun and enjoyment of life, as well as the callous funloving type person. It often means to leave, to leave the house, to get away and get away with, and a charming-baby-boy type fellow.

Three of Pentacles…………. Three of Pentacles is a deal, a meeting, a transaction, an agreement and being in agreement, people together who are each doing his/her part, a relationship of any kind – be it business, love, friends, a budget meeting, a real estate transaction or contract, a negotiation – especially a negotiation of a legal matter. Three of Pentacles is a court proceeding, a settlement in or out of court, a motion hearing, etc. It is also running into a friend or friends on the street or at, say, a bookstore, and stopping to chat.

Moon…………. Moon, I call, tongue-in-cheek, ‘maximum fuckedupness.’ Moon is awry. Moon is chaos, a mess, lost, bad times, impossible: You can see the words it brought in today’s otherwise-pleasant post. It can be very very dark, and it can be a serious downside like terminal illness, dementia, suffering, pain, hurt, suffering … all of that. Or it can just say ‘mistake’ or ‘messed up.’ Look to its companion cards.

Sun – This is one of those cards with quite a few trunks to its meaning tree. (Google it with ‘Tarot Verbatim’ after it, to access all the archives of its meanings here.) The story in the illustration is that a funloving toddler sneaks out from supervision nude, recklessly cavorting hands-free atop a very annoyed pony.

Very seldom does the annoyance of the pony, or the recklessness of the child, show up as meanings in my spreads.

Sun today is about the relief of getting out from under restrictions, and feeling free; the child or brat itself; being uninhibited, ‘letting my hair down’; optimism and sunshine; leaving or getting out; and most of all happiness, enjoyment, and fun.
Three of Wands – The cliché ‘your ship comes in’ is what this illustration is all about. Merchant waits, overlooking a harbor, for his ship to come in with his profit. He is looking at the ship, so it’s not a ‘check is in the mail’ type thing, it’s a sure thing.

Meanings this Tarot card apply to your sentence or your spread are defined and few: the future or the sentence being in future tense; money made or received; waiting or looking forward, or the outlook, looking ahead, and ‘it’s on its way’; and continuing, which appears as ‘always’ or ‘always be,’ and as ‘keeping’ (gerund form of the verb) or as ‘keep’ plus the verb, like: keep being, keep doing, etc.
Three of Pentacles – People get together and get some purpose done by agreement: This is the root meaning of Three of Pentacles. It is an anchor card – one that has few and well-defined meanings, so you look to it early when determining what your spread is saying. So Three of Pentacles is the main relationship card – that’s the default word for it. Watch for it to equate social, love, and business relationships, it’s so versatile in the relationship arena.

Each party to the relationship … or the agreement, or the contract or the meeting … does his part, and each party benefits mutually too. It’s a deal, it’s an exchange, it’s a transaction. (Temperance goes along with a lot of this.) ‘Doing our part,’ living up to what he agreed,’ ‘a mutually beneficial arrangement’ – these are very common phrases for Three of Pentacles. Note that the people can be the emphasis, or the action, or the agreement: to meet, the associate or friend you meet, ‘together we,’ ‘mutually beneficial,’ and so on.

In the picture, an architect and/or general contractor who has a contract to build his clients’ cathedral meets with them, and gives them the blueprints, to demonstrate he is worthy to be paid his main profit, the final draw. So Three of Pentacles is the contract, the profit, the meeting to settle up, legal agreements. And so it is also ‘what you do for a living,’ business, deals and dealing, putting heads together – and it even represents the negotiations that go into making the agreement or contract.

Today Moon, a miserable card (hey, it means that, even!) is sandwiched between grand opportunity and happily ever after (Wheel of Fortune and Ten of Cups respectively). Wheel of Fortune is grand good luck, miracle, wonderful thing(s) happening, and Moon is disaster and awful things happening. Ten of Cups breaks the tie with ‘Everybody’s happy about that.’ So we are making a rainbow out of the cloud, capitalizing on a loss, coming out of the trouble smelling like a rose.

Wheel of Fortune is usually good luck: miracle, wonderful, scoring, opportunity, reward, the magic moment or optimum moment, coincidence, best, big break, paying off, winning at gambling, jackpot, the best thing that could ever happen, windfall, moneymaker … and more. Those are its frequent translates. It means destiny, fate, and karma too. It often says ‘happens.’
Wheel of Fortune can be about interference of spirits in human affairs too. That is what the complex illustration demonstrates. The red lizard is a bad-guy spirit, the sphinx is suspect, the critters with wings and books, I dunno, but they aren’t planetary citizens. At the center of what looks for all the world like a gambling wheel is both the name of God in Hebrew and a word from myths (one of them having to do with Apollo) that means wheel or wheel of fortune. The fifty-some names of God in Hebrew are extensively used in magic and in secret societies.
………………………….. Moon is infernal – the path to hell in Greek and Roman myth or myths. (Yes, they had hell too.) The two towers are the tip-off to that. They marked the end of the earth for unsuspecting travelers, lest they encounter the dragons that live there, or walk off earth’s ledge. So it can be just about any awful thing, and it is one of the heavy cards unless it is in polite company like we have here.
Lobster (purple, yet) goes on an overland journey. Dog and coyote are seen together. The crooked path through the swamp. The full moon. Those are also big hints that this is a very not-nice card.
Moon would create bad luck, infernal luck, misfortune and so on with Wheel of Fortune if Ten of Cups were not standing in the way of that.
Moon means evil, horrible, terrible, miserable, cancer and sick, fear, hate, death, dementia, addiction, out-of-control or chaos, wrong, bad scene, sin, haunting, fester, dank and filth, etc., hazardous, bad road, impossible, drastic … you can fill in the rest.
But Moon also means simple things like mistake, worst case scenario, dream (not just nightmare), in disrepair, guilt, a mess, counterfeit, lie, ugly, consequences, hurt feelings. In just the right setting, it can mean The Muse.

Everybody calls it ‘happily ever after.’ The stereotype dream life: the couple’s estate with the rainbow over it, two perfect kids prancing happily about, couple embracing. Its meanings are about the respectable moneyed people being the good people. Think the Moral Majority of a few years ago. It typically is about marriage, couple, spouse, people who are a group or have some thing in common, family, neighborhood, happiness, being accepted, being a member. It stands in for any respectable group of humans from mama and papa to international. It translates ‘everybody’ easily, and phrases like ‘we all’ or ‘all of us.’

Wheel of Fortune……….. Wheel of Fortune stylizes the idea of interference in human affairs by both good and bad spiritual influences (including God). On the rim of the wheel is both God’s name in the Hebrew alphabet and a word that means wheel and ‘wheel of fortune’ in myths, one involving Apollo. The Hebrew alphabet is extensively used in secret societies and magic, and this Tarot card is very much involved in magic, as you can tell by the evil red lizard, the blue sphinx, and the various winged critters with books.
Wheel of Fortune is all about coincidence, luck, destiny and fate, miracles and wonderful things happening – winning. It often translates ‘happens,’ and is almost always a ‘good’ card.

Moon…………. Moon, you would rather not see in your spread. In real life, it seldom lives up to the doom it depicts, though, unless it is in the company of other bad-boy Tarot cards. The first three cards refer to males, in different ways. Magician is the male principle: action. It brings to the sentences all tenses of the verb ‘do’ or ‘make’ and also means to bring down or bring about – the action usually being done by a male person or animal.
Ace of Wands is the penis card, and often means ‘have to’ or ‘make’ as in ‘force.’ It also means first, of prime importance, the most important. And sex, of course, particularly the male aspect of it.
Sun is the happy baby boy having fun, often recklessly. It refers to getting out from under rules and restrictions, the brat or playboy, recreation or vacation, being uninhibited and spontaneous.
The remaining card means to get together, to meet (often three people), to come to agreement, to negotiate, a contract, dealing with or deal, business, and any relationship.
Our stories today are equating people getting together and coming to agreement in an enjoyable way in dating, business negotiations, social life – that the process is the same in dealing with our fellows on any subject in any kind of relationship. (Tarot believes this, you know.)

Sun is the happy baby boy having fun, often recklessly. It refers to getting out from under rules and restrictions, the brat or playboy, recreation or vacation, being uninhibited and spontaneous. Its Rider Waite illustration brings these meanings together. Boychild has ducked out of the house and is bareback on a wicked pony, having the time of his life for the moment – an elaborate banner in his hand. Sunflowers and the huge sun suggest summertime.
Three of Pentacles means to get together, to meet (often three people), to come to agreement, to negotiate, a contract, business, and a relationship of any agreeable kind. The picture shows the architect’s last inspection before his big payoff, demonstrating to his clients that he followed the blueprint, which they have in their hands.

In these group readings, there’s no question (and no Questioner) to limit what the four cards can mean, so they can mean opposite things.
When there is a negative-meaning card (a ‘negator,’ I call them), the readings contradict one another because that card can make any of the other cards in the spread negative. Negator cards mean things like: no, never, not, end, can’t, etc. Never be queasy about the number of ‘bad’ card because it takes two bad cards to say ‘not dead’ and only one to say ‘dead.’
Without a question or a Questioner, pronouns (I, you, he, she, we, they, etc.) are very flexible. I leave out pronouns in writing this as much as possible – awkward to do that sometimes. When I put them in parentheses, feel very free to change them around to suit yourself.
Now in a ‘real’ individual reading, the questioner asks a specific question which provides at least half the information! In an individual’s reading, the parties are identified and sometimes a time frame is too. Here, in a group reading, we cannot do that and so we get more variety of sentences.
Horoscopes are group readings, too. Astrology is based on someone else’s birth data, though, so a ‘solar’ group horoscope never really solidly applies to you! (Astrologers want you to know this!)
Tarot successfully addresses the group of visitors, whoever they are. It provides useful information that applies to their daily lives: They tell you this in the comments, for three years now. Tarot can tell you things about people you don’t know personally – such as whoever on your job has a say in your raise or continued employment there, whether that is one person or many. Visitors report that the information is equally accurate for new visitors as it is for the family of regular visitors.
