Tarot Readings for You for April 27, 2015 Monday©
GUIDANCE You keep learning and still never know it all. And when you know a lot more than they do, you may as well shut up, because they aren’t going to listen to you. You can’t deliver enlightenment, either: It’s never welcome. Your enlightenment is a long hard path, and it may just make you too well-meaning. By then you will have too much patience too, so you can endure all this with a grin.

Ten of Wands – Hermit – Four of Cups
.
………. .………. Well, this spread will remind you that Ten of Wands and Four of Cups say ‘won’t ever’ and like terms. Ten of Wands is forever and Four of Cups is ‘won’t.’ Today Ten of Wands amplifies meanings of the other two cards as Four of Cups cancels them out. Ten of Wands is doing it all in one trip, and Hermit is a trip. Hermit’s meanings color the sentences more than the others, because Four of Cups is to refuse, and something that does not get (or go) through. Hermit, as the star card, is talking about knowing, understanding, studying, investigating, being objective – mainly. He also brings us a little ‘path’ and ‘trip’ meanings, a little on enlightenment, and on celibacy, and throws in some of his virtues – being patient, well-meaning, and real. So today we have stories about a search for spiritual knowledge, and how it doesn’t sell well to folks below when you found it on that mountain you climb.
……………………. Ten of Wands is a long hard slow anything. Ten of Wands is one of those chameleon cards: It tends to magnify the scope of its neighbors because it is the extreme of anything, so it puts little simple words like very, too, long, always, and the amplifying suffixes like ‘-ier,’ ‘-iest,’ as well as their milder cousins ‘-er’ and ‘-est.’ It even means ‘forever.’ Ten of Wands is the accomplice to other cards’ deeds, good ones, bad ones, or neutral ones. It frequently means slow, as in slow progress – not so much today.
Here are Ten of Wands contributions to today’s one-sentence readings, with the words Ten of Wands is modifying in parentheses so you can clearly see where to put that Ten of Wands stroke on the canvas of your own spreads:
thorough, doesn’t take long, long hard (look), Keep (learning) and still (never), too much, how long, take long, too (objective), (held out) for so long, (know) it all, all in one trip, the long (way around), take (long) forever, slowing down, all (help), (not) ever, (won’t) ever, too (patient), too (well-meaning), wait, always.
You see a fellow doing it all in one load and suffering for it, but he grits his teeth and hangs in there until that wood is where it is going. So his is a long slow hard trip, he is persistent, and he can be overwhelmed or depressed about the whole backbreaking thing too.
Hermit is the star card today. He is the star card because Ten of Wands amplifies his meanings (or slows them down, because that’s what that busybody Ten of Wands does) and Four of Cups negates them. Just about any other card you put with those two would be the star card because of the limited meaning they have when they combine. (Fun project, there.) Well, Hermit has a few trunks to his meaning tree, all rightly growing form his illustration, which has several elements to it. Here are Hermit’s contributions to today’s one-sentence readings:
investigation, search, look, learning, know, study, understand, know what you’re doing, objective, trip, way around, the path, (I’m) old, help, coming to you, haven’t had sex, patient, well-meaning, what’s real.
……………………. Hermit pictures an older gentleman monk – service monk, which means he serves a purpose, not just contemplates – on a snowy mountain at night with a light looking for travelers to bring them comfy accommodations and a warm meal along with his wisdom. You can see the elements in the illustrations making up all his meanings.
…………………… Four of Cups is one of the very simple cards in the Tarot Verbatim™ system. What you see is a fellow who is seated, legs crossed, arms crossed, head averted, as the fourth offer is made to him. These simple cards are always anchor cards in the larger spreads because a glance at them will point you to your theme: labor-saving devices, they are. Obviously (you don’t need to be Tarot-lady to know) Four of Cups means: No. Not gonna. Doesn’t go through, doesn’t get through, not going to let, I can’t, I won’t … and et cetera all day.
Here are the contributions of Four of Cups to today’s one-sentence readings:
you quit, doesn’t take, don’t accept, never, doesn’t, no such thing as, held out, just shut up, don’t do, no reason, can’t take, won’t accept, not (slowing), refuses, not (ever), won’t want any, no more, Don’t be, doesn’t come, refuse to accept.
Don’t cast pearls before swine today. All your hardwon wisdom, all your tips for effective living, fall on deaf ears. You climb the ever-steeper path of your own mountain of achievement, reach your own summit of enlightenment, salvation, wisdom, enrealment and ‘getting it,’ and arrive at a plateau you would like to share with the folks in the valley. They didn’t climb, and they ain’t innerested. Their path goes around that mountain in inches of elevation, whereas you invested grease, blood, sweat and tears to go straight up to where you’re at now.
.

.
Ten of Wands………Ten of Wands shows this fellow totin’ that load all in one exhausting trip. Not easy, but you’re gonna make it, fella. Ten of Wands sometimes is doing it the hard way. This card easily takes on the color of nearby ones, blends in with them and boosts them. It adds suffixes to those neighbor cards that do that: ‘-er,’ ‘-est,’ ‘-ier,’ ‘-iest,’ etc. Ten of Wands goes even further than that: it means extremes, excesses; it means too much, too long, too hard, always, and forever – not to mention overwhelming and backbreaking. The feeling the picture gives you is good guide to how to apply Ten of Wands.
.
Hermit…………..If you look closely at this illustration, and know a little of its history, that will trigger the words you need from him in your spread – because there are a few categories that belong to Hermit. If you didn’t know he is a doctor by what he wears, you would not think of his medical words. So this story that you are looking at is: He is a monk who goes out at night with a light to bring comfort to travelers: a safe warm bed, a satisfying cooked meal, and a share of his wisdom, back at the monastery. Because he is a monk, he is about not having sex, in any of its contexts. He is out looking, so he can be a search, can be surveillance or investigation. He is an old wise man, so learning, teaching, studying, and being objective, belong to Hermit. He is literally on the path, and figuratively as well, so he has a pretty good column of meanings along those lines. He is helping, so he represents a sincere supportive friend.
.
Four of Cups……….Four of Cups is all the ways you can say ‘no,’ not interested, not going to, no response, shut up, I am not … a whole big stack of ways to say ‘no,’ including, frequently, the word ‘never.’ You see a hand offering the cups for the fourth time, and you see a fellow who is looking down, who has crossed not only his arms but his legs. He doesn’t want nothin’ to do with that cup. This card is a good place to start reading your layout because it has so few meanings: less to choose from.
