Wheel of Fortune – Ace of Cups is a diagram of an idea, and so is Wheel of Fortune. The four Hebrew letters that make up ‘Jehovah,’ alternate with the four letters of ‘rota,’ – the root word of English ‘rotate’ and ‘rotation’ – which means ‘wheel.’ These letters appear on what looks like a roulette wheel. The wheel all this refers to is in Greek and Roman myth as fate, destiny, karma, and coincidence. The idea being diagrammed is that otherworldly forces – good ones (name of God) and bad ones (all the funky critters around the outside of the wheel and in the corners of the card) act through coincidence to cause events in our physical world. So the idea is that coincidence is – and coincidence accomplishes – destiny.

In real practice, the most frequent meanings for Wheel of Fortune are: wonderful; miracle; luck and good luck; ‘happens’ in all its forms, as well as ‘event’ or what happens; and opportunity or chance.

Wheel of Fortune also often means: best, good, happen for the best, as well as ‘pays off’ and ‘hit the jackpot’ and ‘luck out.’ Those last are gambling terms (or can be) and, yes, Wheel of Fortune is the main card to speak of gambling.
Four of Swords – There is or was a ceremony to become a knight, a ritual that involved meditating all night (as many nights as it took) in the church, awaiting a vision of your life purpose as a knight. The bishop had to approve your vision. This illustrates that ritual. Four of Swords’ meanings come from this story.

‘Not participating’ is the standard title you encounter in Tarot books for Four of Swords. Any kind of not being involved, not being interested, sleep, rest, or lying down belongs to Four of Swords. Here are today’s main applications for this Four of Swords concept: peace and quiet; holding out for, or waiting for; staying or remaining; isn’t interested; isn’t involved; isn’t paying attention; nothing is happening, uneventful; time out, time off, retire; relax; lying down, lying around, bedridden; meditating.
Queen of Wands – I think of Queen of Wands as The Mama, and I hear that folk song ‘Mama Don’t Allow No __ in This House.’ Queen of Wands is the wife and mother (the main card that means ‘wife’). Female gender here: Queen of Wands sometimes translates ‘woman’ or ‘woman who.’ This is the woman who has the house and the people in it, in order; has her personal affairs in order; has a business in order. Queen of Wands is the manager at the business. A woman who puts up with no nonsense and has a sharp eye out for misbehavior. (However, at least in my experience, she is not the overt disciplinarian – she doesn’t administer correction, she simply prevents any need for it.)

Queen of Wands (also Queen of Pentacles) is The Competent Woman, the woman who can, the woman who has the ability.

Justice and Wheel of Fortune Justice and Wheel of Fortune are interesting companions. Wheel of Fortune is karma, an event happens, a miracle, optimal (outcome or whatever) and a payoff, reward, opportunity, chance or a chance, windfall, gambling payoff, luck and lucky. When the two of these operate in unison, you immediately see in big headlines: Justice Happens. Getting what is deserved, what (anyone or anything) is entitled to.
Queen of Wands and Queen of Pentacles Then we have two married women who have this in common: skill, competency, and ability to run things and take care of things. Queen of Wands is the wife, the competent manager, the practical woman who keeps order, the no-nonsense mama. Queen of Pentacles is the woman who partners in her man’s business affairs, has her own money, is a backer and/or is generous. She is usually in some way well-off financially and may be a bookkeeper.
Justice and Queen of Wands Both Justice and Queen of Wands are associated with ‘right.’ Justice intrinsically means ‘right’ in any way. Queen of Wands runs things in the right way, expects proper behavior.

Wheel of Fortune It happens. It is destined to happen. It is wonderful. It is a miracle. It is luck, karma, destiny and fate. Here is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow disguised as opportunity. This card refers to the Laws of Random Distribution as a cosmic reward and as Lady Luck. The point of its glyph is that both infernal and divine influences shape our earthly affairs. In the center is God’s Hebrew Name, the four foreigh letters that are interspersed by T, A, R and O … or in any other combination, since they are in a circle. Very esoteric.
Queen of Wands This is the wife, the manager, the sensible and very capable no-nonsense woman whose house and whose affairs are organized, who ‘runs a tight ship.’ She is the manager at work and The Mama at her house. She epitomizes ‘hearth and home.’ There she sits with that alert look on her face, a flower in one hand and the big stick in the other. She is skilled … talented … competent.
Temperance This illustration shows blending – the pouring of water and wine together to make a milder dilution. Temperance is about intimacy, partnership, closeness, communication, healing. Nine of Cups This is the famous ‘Your wish is granted’ Tarot card in pretty much every deck. Nine of Cups often translates ‘want.’ It shows a chubby fellow who ‘ate the whole thing,’ and drank the whole thing too. Satiation, satisfaction, ‘enough,’ excess or too much. Other phrases it translates as are: gratified, all I want, make you happy, wants to please, pleased or pleasing, craves, dream come true, benefit, give you, best, and the deserved.
