World – “Detached and unmoved, I have sorted it all out and thrown out the trash so my world is clean and I am unimpeded. Don’t disturb me with the facts; I am dancing to the music in my head. I have been all those places and done all those things; I have recovered, salvaged and streamlined. I am living with what fit the best.” This is what you say when you are World.

World has concepts in common with Wheel of Fortune, another esoteric Tarot card. Both picture the otherworldly critters outside a circle. ‘World’ refers to ‘Master of Both Worlds,’ a grand level magician who is proficient at both sides of magic (what we civilians would call the black and the white). A person of this stature would not be challenged (and magicians are always jousting with one another). The wreath represents that. So World is not intruded upon and is not open to further exploration of the environment either. (Google ‘World Tarot Verbatim’ for full reports in detail on this concept of World’s.)

World is the expert, the top level of expertise in anything. The superior person. ‘Mastery’ and ‘master of’ are World’s language.

World is dancing with two magic wands. (You gotta notice these magic wands in Rider Waite; Chariot also uses two, and of course Magician has one.) A banner or scarf covers World’s crotch: Magicians consider this ultimate human to be androgynous (both genders). So this card should come up for transgender and like subjects. (I have not had enough experience with the subject to validate that, though.)

World is also a nude shapely dame, and will show up for those subjects. World is ‘the superior woman,’ which joins that theme with Empress, the ideal woman, who is also beautiful and shapely.

Nine of Pentacles too has everything she wants right where she is, and is indifferent to everything external. That cocooning is a theme in Tarot Verbatim™.

How the elements of World’s story apply to real-world Tarot inquiries is a study. World can show up when you least expect it, and you get to figure out how that applies. Here are some that we use today, sorted out into the themes we discussed:

NO PROBLEM: It isn’t a problem. I’m not letting (whatever) get to me. Don’t let it get to you. It isn’t my problem. But that wasn’t a problem.
SHUTTING OUT: Shutting everything out. Very private. Have walls up. I don’t tolerate what is going on around me. Blocks. Shutting everyone out. Hermetically sealed up. Enjoy my own company.
INDIFFERENT: I can’t be bothered. Doesn’t even notice you. I don’t tolerate. My indifference to.
EXPERT LEVEL OF: A woman of the world.
NOT AVAILABLE (A theme): I am not going out. Hermetically sealed up.
THE SHAPELY/IDEAL WOMAN: The woman is so superior. A shapely woman. A woman of the world.

Four of Pentacles – Four of Pentacles is often titled ‘The Miser’ because he is holding onto his money for dear life, hugging it to himself. This Tarot card, like some others, gets many unrelated meanings from its illustration which is all that holds them together. (Yes, it can be about a hug.)

Main meanings we use today for Four of Pentacles are these.
A LACK OF MONEY or anything, even a lack of something that is a liability (not many vices, Four of Pentacles and, say, Devil). Being lacking, or lacking something, and feeling inferior about it. Living on a budget. Person is so cheap. I had little money. To save money. Not enough (a main phrase for Four of Pentacles). Not very (a general translate for Four of Pentacles). Is affordable.
DEEP FEELINGS, often ‘deep down inside’ or ‘how (whoever) really feels. Other cards may identify what the feeling is, or it may be a general statement. Today we say: Deeply felt. How I really feel. I feel, I have feelings for. My (indifference, via World) is very deep. Such deep feelings about.
FEELING INFERIOR belongs to Four of Pentacles because it combines the deep feeling with the lack. In the same way, Four of Pentacles owns ‘STIFLES FEELINGS,’ combining holding onto something with the deep feelings.
HOLDING ONTO SOMETHING PRECIOUS. Today Six of Cups has Four of Pentacles holding onto precious memories.
BEING SECRETIVE ABOUT. Keeping this to myself. Not letting on that …. Keep secrets.
NOT IN TOUCH WITH. Four of Pentacles belongs, in a small way, to the ‘unresponsive’ theme. (I’m not letting myself answer, for instance.)
RESTRAINING ONESELF, won’t let myself, keeping yourself from, I was so shy.
Six of Cups – The picture here of children exchanging a gift of flowers in front of the large buildings of an estate or apartment complex is about children and childhood, a gift or exchange, affection, safe, good neighborhood, safe neighborhood, old neighborhood, old-fashioned, trusting, nostalgia and good memories, the good old days and the past, past love (old boyfriend, old girlfriend), old friends, close friends, a friend you trust, the good life, living simply, romance, a home, a house (especially a cottage or quaint or old house), being or staying home, sweetness.

Six of Cups can also be naivete, being childish or childlike, and innocence or ‘innocent,’ including the ‘not guilty as charged’ kind of legal innocence.

In addition to all its other theme memberships, Six of Cups serves as a real estate card when that is what the Tarot story is all about. It can say ‘single family home,’ strangely enough. It can say ‘the house where the child stays.’ It can say ‘living with the lover.’

In World’s picture, there’s a wreath-wall around World; in Four of Pentacles, he is simply closing himself off by his posture. One thing the wreath-wall represents is a hardened aura, which keeps things from getting to you. Without it, you hunker down and withdraw: That is the difference between a World person and a Four of Pentacles person.
Four of Pentacles keeps it to himself (or herself) and World is shutting it all out.
World has it all sorted out and is detached and unmoved; Four of Pentacles has it all bottled in and may be feeling inferior, sulking, or holding a grudge.
World is sealed from anything getting to her (or him); Four of Pentacles is keeping what he has inside. World is Teflon, impenetrable … so much so it can represent a barrier method against pregnancy, a seawall or revetment wall, or a filter. Nothing gets to World and something is getting to Four of Pentacles.
Four of Pentacles holds onto, clings, latches onto; World repels.

World and Six of Cups are in a safe place. Six of Cups is in a cozy place together and World is in a private place alone.
Six of Cups and World are both safe from harm. Six of Cups is safe from harm via being a child, or being in a safe protected circumstance of some sort, (‘it’s a beautiful world here’) or in a safe neighborhood, or there’s trust. World is safe from harm via being so spiritually astute or empowered by some other skill that harm avoids him, her or it. World is the kind of person who is invisible to troublemakers, a trait usually hard-won by life experience. (So with World and Six of Cups you have safety at both extremes of the personal-skills scale.)

The overall message contrasts trusting with not dealing with what you don’t trust – and this doesn’t just refer to people but to subjects, items, etc. “If you have a feeling not to trust, don’t trust” is a one-sentence reading.
