.………………..……..…….. Both Three of Cups and Lovers are about the bond of love and the bond of friendship. Three of Cups is partnering with others, being close; Lovers is partnering with another one-on-one – not just in love life, but certainly including love life. You could say Three of Cups is dating, and Lovers is the bonded pair, the settled love relationship. And Knight of Swords is to pursue, is the trip out of town, and is the fast track of a man who is on the way up. (Yes, it usually applies to fellows, since the energy of Knight of Wands is really so macho.)
Knight of Wands is speeding ahead … or running from … with great energy – to be gung-ho or to flee (eschew). Three of Cups is to enjoy, to share, to socialize, and to celebrate together.
Knight of Wands……….Knight of Wands is going out of town in a hurry, although he can mean hot pursuit as well. The salamander pattern on his clothes and his red hair indicate a macho nature, like King of Wands. Knight of Wands is a man with a lot of energy and possibly a temper. He is in a hurry: That is the overall main emphasis of Knight of Wands. Knight of Wands is on the road, traveling – usually out of town. This is the card for ‘on the road’ jobs. He is leaving or coming – getting out of Dodge or hot pursuit. Today, in the company of the ladies (Three of Cups), he is going to see his girl. Knight of Wands is on the fast track, making fast progress, and ‘on the way up’ when it comes to business. Knight of Wands pursues his love, or chases women. You can see from his wind-whipped clothing that he is hurrying, speeding. That is his most commonly used characteristic.
Three of Cups………..Three of Cups Glasses are lifted; Three people are having a happy celebration, toasting the prosperity they are sharing together. Three of Cups is having close friends you do business with, is enjoying one another’s company in a face-to-face meeting. The main highway of Three of Cups’ meaning is this sharing and good convivial feeling.
The story is: The parties have gone together in a joint venture, pooling their labor and money, in growing and harvesting the pumpkins; and now they are sharing the profit. Three of Cups is often a get-together of three people in your Tarot spreads; so is Three of Pentacles – even moreso; and both of these are about relationships of friendship, business or romance.
Now, about the girls you see there. Three of Cups embraces sisterhood, girls’ night out, party girls, a group of girlfriends, dating, stylish women, popular women, debutantes, ‘the beautiful people,’ socialites, and women’s organizations.
Here are the main meanings of Three of Cups: Sharing, camaraderie, celebration, profit, prosperity, trust, close friends, girls together, party girls or party, dating, sisterhood. (Camaraderie is The Three Musketeers: One for all, and all for one.)

Lovers……….Lovers is a general card in Tarot Verbatim™. Lovers isn’t just lovers and love life. It’s actually a sloppy grab-bag of meanings. It can say ‘pal’ or ‘buddy,’ of course. Look for connection; look for contact; look for partnerships of any kind too – or any pair of people, even just standing next to one another – who are together. Naturally, it means ‘a couple,’ referring to people, since Adam and Eve are a couple. The ‘partner’ category includes ‘making partner’ in business.
Don’t overlook the connection, contact, and partnership translates: These are major and often. Lovers is partnering up, contacting (or being contacted by), another person (including a person in power – the ‘higher-up’). Lovers is also being close to or intimate. Lovers as connection can refer to any kind of connection, even a mechanical one – like, say, a paper clip, or a tow hitch, or making a connection between two ideas in your mind, or in a presentation. Anything. (A connection is a connection.) Lovers also means a direct connection, like ‘reporting directly to the CEO.’
Now look at the angel, above the couple, watching or watching over them. The concept of ‘higher-ups’ comes to play – again in a very general way. Higher-ups or ‘Upstairs,’ as we sometimes call it, can be supervisors or bosses at work; can be politicians or agencies in power. Higher-ups refers to spiritual forces too (usually on the good side): God, divinity, angels, guardian angels, watchers. Lovers can tell you God is on your side.
But Lovers is also surveillance, including electronic surveillance, and even, sometimes, stalking.
Watching, ‘looking out for,’ ‘got you covered,’ and protection. This concept of the guardian angel protecting then expands to insurance, which brings up the word ‘coverage.’ Lovers can be very specific about insurance. Put it next to Chariot, and you got car insurance. Next to Tower, you could have advice to get fire insurance or calamity insurance.
The volcano could refer to passion, but doesn’t (at least in my work). But if you ask about a volcano, up it comes. Next to Tower, and you have the eruption; and Seven of Cups can refer to the clouds or even the pyroclastic flow.
Lastly, Adam and Eve are there with their respective trees. If a question contained anything about the Garden of Eden narrative, then this would apply.
