Chariot is the ambition, willpower, and ability to handle something and succeed. Chariot is getting yourself ahead too. Ace of Cups is being lovable, being loved, being agreeable, being with the program, and cooperation. Four of Wands is the group – spouse and marriage, home life, the company, and the members (of anything that is okay). Our theme is to be deliberate and ambitious in your love life to accomplish your purpose of being loved and having a good life there. It is also to be warmhearted in your work life to accomplish your purpose there of people cooperating with you.

…………………………..  Four of Wands shows a society wedding (you just have to take Rider Waite’s word for that). That makes it both a marriage (paper marriage) and family card, and a card about public life and leaders in the community. The family cards all expand to any size group – especially this one because its picture shows a public occasion. It can be a political party. It means, for example, levels of governments, headquarters, corporations, and any group of people who have something in common, or who are unified in some way.

…………………………..   Ace of Cups echoes the unity you see in Four of Wands. Ace of Cups is love, including unconditional love, agreement, cooperation, peace, going along with the program or going with the flow (Ace of Cups means ‘flow’ of any sort because, well, see it flow.), relaxing or unwinding, healing and good health, permitting or letting it be, easy and the easy way, God and spirituality, being ethical. Today the emphasis is on being a lovable person and getting yourself loved by people.

We are a smooth operator here, being focused and deliberate about things that usually flow unchanneled and therefore are snag points: emotions of liking and not liking other people, and their liking or not liking us. We have a social adept here who aims to get people to love him whether they like it or not. We watch this adept get people at work to cooperate with the program (what a good manager, by definition, does) and deliberately be loving and cooperative in his marriage and home life so everyone loves him (and one another) there. So he creates success through preventing issues both at home and at work, and thus has an unimpeded, successful, personal life and career. LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES

Four of Wands ………..  Four of Wands is one of two ‘good’ marriage cards. (Ten of Cups is the other.) It shows a palace of a house [which doubles as a building, including a public building like a court house (with Justice) or hospital (with one of the healing cards)]. A public wedding is taking place, the kind of wedding that unites leading families like royalty does. So you can see how Four of Wands is marriage, spouse, family, relatives, political divisions from neighborhood to international, any group (even a congregation when you put one of the church or God cards next to it), company or corporation.

Ace of Cups ………….  Ace of Cups has many meanings and applications, and its illustration, which does give rise to them, is opaque. Those are Roman Catholic symbols: the dove with the wafer of Holy Communion; the ‘W,’ and even the bottomless fountain, which is in Interior Castles, a book by Ste. Teresa d’Avila, a major saint, a book often considered the premiere mystical work of Western literature. Ace of Cups is the presence of God, in Holy Spirit, being channeled by a human (represented by the five small flows there – five senses or ‘bodily humors’ if you take the more ancient meaning) into mass consciousness (the larger body of water – water represents consciousness in Rider Waite). So Ace of Cups is more about spiritual life than it is about religion.

Ace of Cups’ trunk meanings are love, true love, cooperate, agree, good (good anything – the word good), health, easy, warm-fuzzy emotions, relax, easy, calm, healing, permitting or letting (as in letting it be), peace, unity, innocent, spiritual, God, acceptance and being accepted, affection and affectionate. Probably a few more I haven’t thought to include. It’s conducive to vernacular terms like kid gloves, peacenik, the love bug, etc.

Chariot ………… .Chariot is deliberate, is purpose, is focused will that accomplishes its aim, is success and getting ahead, and a successful person. Four of Wands are his people, the successful people, the leaders. Chariot is about accomplishing your project or purpose no matter what, using even the people and factors that oppose you to accomplish your aim. Determination, willpower, skill, ability to handle anything, and strategy: These all belong to Chariot. He is ethical but ruthless, you could say. Charioteers were military leaders and heroes of their day, the special forces then. He smacks of magic too: He has hitched sphinxes he controls with his wands to his vehicle, and sphinxes, don’t you know, are creatures who don’t go straight, ever, just turn in their one favorite direction.
