Three of Wands   is about the future, and is about money or income. Often, its function is simply to put the sentence it lives in into future tense. It is about waiting and looking forward, and what is coming, or what is coming in. One of its words is ‘profit’ too. All this because that merchant is standing on the grassy knoll waiting for the ship with his profit to come in.

Fool      Elsewhere I have written up comprehensive Fool material. Fool can be a very philosophical and esoteric (semi-occult) card. Fool is ‘anything can happen,’ and means ‘open’ and ‘free’ and even ‘not there.’ Fool is the unknown (‘I don’t know’; forget; faith; assume). Fool is starting out, and starting out with a blank slate: That’s because it’s the Zero in the deck. Fool is optimistic, lighthearted, footloose and fancy free. Fool is ‘Who cares?’ and ‘Don’t give a damn.’ Fool is also ‘What, ME worry?’ This card often means the absence of something, and means ‘not affected.’ Think of Fool as exempt.

Page of Cups      Page of Cups is a walking question mark. He shares a lot of the common phrases of Fool along the ‘I don’t know’ lines. Page of Cups does not share its ‘silly’ line of phrases with Fool, though. Page of Cups is a ‘Duh’ card and Fool isn’t – because Fool isn’t confused, and isn’t an object of ridicule as Page of Cups often is. Page of Cups owns the word ‘question.’ It also owns dumb, silly, awkward, funny, embarrassing, and maybe.

Page of Cups is the lead Tarot card for humor and humorous. He is the comedian, the clown, the joke and the jokester, and he is a sense of humor. Once in a while, he is about being in a costume, since he does mean ‘inappropriately dressed.’

Today, Page of Cups is his most standard words and phrases, some of which are: when questions are asked; a funny feeling; somehow or another; it’s embarrassing; a sense of humor; look silly; the dummy; maybe; ask me; how can you be; a really dumb idea; who knows?’ doubting; can only wonder.

That pattern of two very similar cards and a center one that has limited scope has persisted a while now.)

Fool as the zero card is the blank slate anything starts with – the zygote of the deck. Fool is ‘I don’t know,’ forget, assume, ‘oh never mind,’ too. Fool’s mood is upbeat … indestructibly upbeat. Page of Cups is ‘I don’t know’ and ‘Huh?’ Its mood is confused and wondering – and it turns your sentence into a question regularly.

Page of Cups is a fellow in an elaborate get-up carrying a fish in a cup, and has the look of a simpleton. You can just tell Page of Cups is a ‘Duh’ card.

Three of Wands shows a fellow watching and waiting while the ship comes into harbor that carries his profit. His profit on those ships is a sure thing. But the other two cards here specifically and emphatically mean anything BUT ‘sure thing.’ Three of Wands is mostly future and future tense in today’s company. Even when it means money today, that future tense is involved.
