Tarot Readings for You for May 28, 2015 Thursday©

GUIDANCE        ‘What’s the deal?’ we say about just anything. This refers to the basic meeting of minds of whatever parties are involved in whatever activity, from what to have for lunch to whether to go to war. We are all about a meeting of minds, whether to drop everything to perform what is expected, or whether to not show up to do that. So we are about settling up today, about getting paid or not getting paid, getting attention (including in a personal relationship) or not getting attention.

Six of Pentacles – Three of Pentacles – Eight of Cups

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

.

.……………….    Yesterday we were intrigued by Judgment and Knight of Swords together – two cards with very similar meaning making three-card statements. Today, again two very similar cards appear in our three-card stable: Three of Pentacles and Six of Pentacles. They both mean an exchange, a fair exchange, a commercial deal or transaction, give-and-take or a give and take relationship, treating others with the respect they deserve, being rewarded for your contribution – and Six of Pentacles emphasizes paying or rewarding others fairly for their contribution. Six of Pentacles can be about giving or receiving attention, so it also can say ‘the attention (it) deserves.’ Three of Pentacles is a contract. These two cards together can speak of a budget meeting – a good one to remember.

Looking to the other card, it’s a switch or chance or cancellation, dropping out, not finishing, going out of one’s way, no-show, abandoning, or even going AWOL. These meanings mostly suggest the deal the other two cards speak of is not completed. Yes, Eight of Cups is a potential negator card in Tarot Verbatim.™

……………….………….Six of Pentacles    You see an employer scrupulously pay the help to the penny what they have earned and deserve. The scales make this one of the justice cards, but their import in this picture is that those are gold coins, and are worth only the current weight in gold they contain – not their face value. So the core meaning of Six of Pentacles is a fair exchange.

Six of Pentacles is about any sort of fair exchange: attention, credit, respect, due and dues – so, paying your dues, and receiving the attention or respect or credit you deserve. It is all about making payments and money as well, of course.

……………….………….Three of Pentacles is Six of Pentacles squared. It takes this concept of the fair exchange and amplifies it to having a meeting of minds among all parties, and each doing his part as agreed, fairly. It also opens up a whole relationship category of meanings – and it means a meeting as well. It ramps that up to meetings of professionals who are putting their heads together on the same case or subject – often three professionals. Speaking of professionals, Three of Pentacles is about real estate because you see the architect there with the blueprints of the building. This is a specific Tarot card for any kind of real estate transaction, including negotiating for purchase, and mortgage brokers.

Three of Pentacles amplifies the idea of *getting paid for labor* to *a contract performed and paid as agreed*: The photograph shows the general contractor or architect demonstrating, with the blueprint, that he fulfilled his clients’ (a monk and a nun) contract with him. This is business. We make a profit. It is a meeting of any kind, but is very often a meeting of three people.

……………….………….Eight of Cups is detouring around an obstacle on a (foot) journey (a pilgrimage). The two phases of the moon-with-a-face indicate the original direction will be resumed, but that is not always the case in its many meanings. Be aware of the contradictory pillars in Eight of Cups memory bank: to drop out (desist, quit, abandon, etc.); and to go out of your way to (whatever). Drop out categories are predominant; go out of your way is rare but persistent. Generally, it’s obvious.

Eight of Cups has a proclivity for rare oddball meanings that nevertheless fit its category well. Here are a few: sidetracked, temporarily; hasn’t yet; for a change; depart; fall short of; anymore; avoid; overnight (the moon in Eight of Cups’ illustration – calls up a ‘one night stand’ for the meeting card, Three of Pentacles); before it’s over; shortcut; called off; default; going from one place to another, or one choice to another. I could go on, but maybe that would bog things down. When something is ‘neither here nor there, neither this nor that’ or ‘isn’t quite’ or ‘isn’t quite, yet,’ you may have an Eight of Cups situation.

Six of Pentacles and Eight of Cups is ducking out on payments, being paid to leave, paying ahead of time, suspension of funding, not paying respects or attention anymore, and disrupting litigation. These are meanings you would not think of readily.

.

.

Living up to what is expected, or not doing so. There’s an unspoken community meeting of minds regarding people who renege on their social contracts. It is much like the credit bureau, but the record is on the ether. You know when your credit is bad; you can check it. But when your social-contract report is negative, you can choose to be ignorant, or actually be ignorant of it. People just don’t ‘do for you.’ Conversely, a person who does accommodate others fairly – or even generously – has a sterling line of cooperation on the social network.
