How You Read Tarot
In the early Eighties, I listened to a series of lectures by a professor of statistics on Consistent Violators of the Laws of Random Distribution. Random Distribution fascinates me, always has, because I figure this statistic evidences some blessing created for us. The statistic is that for every ten (or was it 11) times something happens that could cause a disaster, the disaster happens, and this is so strongly happening it’s ironclad. Professions rely on these statistics (any prediction, risk management, for instance).
TAROT IS ONE OF THESE VIOLATORS when handled with anything in mind. 20 years of experiments with Tarot established this, and the lectures were about all the then-known violators in 1980.
There are also quite a few experiments, ones in the Seventies that I know of, about statistics of how card choices fall into patterns (especially the ones with 5 cards that have shapes on them).
These lectures got me interested in Tarot. I felt the Tarot books were mostly dumb, and when I sat in on professional readers, they were not reading the cards; they were listening to spirits, they said.
I went on to ask questions I knew the answers to, to ascribe meanings to cards. I was a court reporter when I did all this, so my meanings are Verbatim. Been at it since 1980, and now have an encyclopedia of these Verbatim meanings you can access to do readings.
Doesn’t it make sense that there is more than one way, more than one source, for the meanings? It does to me. After all, I cooked up a bunch that work really well.

And ๐ค๐๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ป ๐ผ๐ณ ๐ช๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ๐ is at home. ๐๐ถ๐ด๐ต๐ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐ช๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ๐ and ๐ช๐ต๐ฒ๐ฒ๐น ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐๐๐ป๐ฒ also say โone lucky coincidence after another,โ with Eight of Wands being โone after anotherโ and Wheel of Fortune being, as usual, the lucky coincidence. Wheel of Fortune is also opportunity, and Eight of Wands can simply make it say โopportunities,โ adding the plural and disappearing.

When Queen of Wands is in charge, things happen fast too โ because Wheel of Fortune is โhappenโ and Eight of Wands is โfast.โ Happen fast, thatโs a common phrase for us to remember here.

So you are lucky to talk to your mother (or the manager). Wheel of Fortune can make Eight of Wands โwonderful things to say,โ with Wheel of Fortune being wonderful, and Eight of Wands being both the โthingsโ and the โto say.โ (You can double up on meanings like this if it makes a nice natural statement.)
๐ค๐๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ป ๐ผ๐ณ ๐ช๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ๐ is โhome,โ so ๐ช๐ต๐ฒ๐ฒ๐น ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐๐๐ป๐ฒ brings the idea of luck to house or home, so โa chance to have a home of your own.โ
Eight of Wands has another easily overlooked talent: It can add the gerund form, the โ-ingโ form, to indicate a continuing process (like Two of Pentacles does). So it turns Queen of Wands having her house in order to โgetting her house in order.โ
๐๐ถ๐ด๐ต๐ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐ช๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ๐ can be paperwork (the writing, the documents, etc.), and ๐ค๐๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ป ๐ผ๐ณ ๐ช๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ๐ is the woman with the ability to manage, so you have โHer wonderful ability to manage the paperwork. Queen of Wands is the โher abilityโ and the โmanageโ here. Eight of Wands is the paperwork. And naturally, Wheel of Fortune is โwonderfulโ again.

Hanged Man‘s illustration arises from at least three myths from different times and places about a man or god who sacrifices a body part or body function to the gods in exchange for psychic/magic/spiritual gifts and abilities, by hanging himself on a tree for three days. One of the myths is Odin sacrificing an eye.
So Hanged Man is awareness, realization, psychic experience, psychic development, sacrifice, insight, seeing things upside down.

Understanding Gender in Tarot
When you begin your journey with Tarot, you establish not only the meanings the cards hold for you but also other factors that influence Tarot’s responses. One crucial aspect is the extent to which the gender depicted on the cards aligns with the gender of the person youโre inquiring about.
If you start with a strict correlation, your readings will generally reflect this association. For instance, the Nine of Pentacles often represents an independent woman, while the Queen of Wands is typically seen as a wife, mother, or married woman.
Conversely, if you don’t emphasize this gender association, your readings won’t adhere to the depicted genders as rigidly.
Personally, I rely on the depicted gender and appreciate the clarity it provides. Of course, exceptions exist, as they do in all things.
