Working on being free, being uninhibited … and working on that handsome fellow at work: how are they the same groove? I enjoy my job and my vacation from it: That’s who I am. Exercising free speech … well, that’s recreational for me.

Page of Wands They say the American Indians had a ceremonial protocol that whoever had the stick had the freedom to speak his mind. They also say they just told the ignorant white man that because he was an uninhibited brat in his freedom of speech. Page of Wands shows a fellow who is very well-dressed, very proud in his posture, who has something to say. And he has that stick in his hand. He is young, he is good-looking, and, yes, he has something to say, and is being the best person he can be for all to see.
Eight of Pentacles A fellow keeps at it, making one of those pentacles after another at his work bench. Eight of Pentacles picks up on this scene and uses each part of it, leaving no waste. Eight of Pentacles is ‘always’ and ‘steadily’ and ‘all the time,’ ‘every time,’ and ‘regularly’ and ‘in the process.’ Watch for it to mean ‘keeps trying’ or keeps whatever-ing. The ‘-ing’ form of words is called a gerund, and Eight of Pentacles is right there when that gerund thing happens.
.
Eight of Pentacles is the job, the workplace, is the worker(s), is ‘working on’ and is ‘when I work.’ Eight of Pentacles is the main work card, and it is involved in anything to do with making a living.
Sun Sun means many things. Its concepts arise from the story of a kid sneaking out of the house naked to play on a hazardous pony, having the time of his little life. You should know the meanings of this card always don’t include the consequences of his recklessness … but do include the recklessness. And seldom does the card mean ‘nude.’
.
Sun’s meanings are about being a boy or a kid; having fun; enjoying; leaving the house; ducking out on the rules; a fling; being a young guy (or even person); being uninhibited. Being the boyish charming fellow, the flirty fellow, belong squarely to Sun. Sun in uninhibited; Sun is going out or getting off or freeing oneself. Sun is the brat, and the charming brat. Sun is even the fun things you did when you were a kid. Sun is very often freedom and being uninhibited and impulsive. The uninhibited impulsive meanings are shared with King of Wands.

.
Sun is the kid, and Page of Wands is the young man. You can see that in the illustrations. Sun is the brat and Page of Wands is the fine young man. Page of Wands is proud to be himself; Sun is the uninhibited impulsive devil-may-car fellow. These two cards represent two faces of youthful men – two types. Sun is the ‘if it feels good, do it’ frat boy; Page of Wands is the sober apprentice beginning his career. (Pages in feudal times were exactly that: sons sent to another knight, to learn how to be knights.)
.
You could say Sun has got to get out from under the restrictions of good behavior, and be his irrepressible self; and Page of Wands, in being himself, embraces (and relishes) the benefits of those restrictions of good behavior.
.
Page of Wands and Sun can be father and son, of course. Sons often take the opposite directions of fathers – old story.
.
If you are pursuing the Page-of-Wands versus Sun concept, Google those two: The archives will give you a few hours of material to peruse. (Type ‘Sun and Page of Wands’ in the Google search bar.)
.
Again, we have that pesky repeating pattern of a card in the middle being an ‘ongoing’ sort of thread, and on either end are opposite concepts. (There’s got to be something to this pattern; it is repeating very strongly.) The card in the middle – Eight of Pentacles – means ongoing processes.
.

How we sometimes enjoy talking, whether it’s just yakkety-yak, talking to get out of something, presenting ourselves in the best light, being the spokesperson, or just the fun part of our job. Wordcrafting can be fun! In the same way, a job can be fun, or we can enjoy it for reasons of our own. We can even enjoy a job because we have free time from it.
