Empress – The fertility goddesses of all old religions are the same gal: zaftig (curvy, full) figure, pregnant, sexy-to-promiscuous, and gorgeous. Her illustration shows her lounging about outdoors on lots of cushions, wealth and fertility symbols around her. Empress represents all those goddesses. The main characteristics of Empress are these: a good-looking trophy woman; the ideal woman or best girl of a fellow; pregnant; sexy; easygoing; spoiled or privileged.

Associated with fertility, Empress is also a resource, and may even appear for that word – even appear for ‘natural resource’ phrase. She will also appear for a spoiled princessy gal, a woman who has money, or a kept woman. Once in a while she is a sugar-mama.
Page of Pentacles – A similar card to Page of Wands. Pages are apprentice knights, and are young. They are clean-cut with a pleasing personality as behooves an apprentice. Both these cards can translate ‘type of person’ as they are identity cards, meaning they represent the image a person has, the good image usually. These identity cards translate pronouns – sometimes represent only a pronoun. So Page of Pentacles says just ‘he’ or ‘him’ or ‘himself.’

See him stare pensively at that pentacle he holds in front of his face? So introspective. Next most common application for our Page are words like these: contemplate, see, feel, think, figure, remember, mind, know, idea, understand, and look (because he is looking at the pentacle). With all that thinking and knowing, he also translates ‘smart’ sometimes.

He is all about one’s image and he is staring at something, so you find him translating the other ‘look’ – the way you look. We have that today.

It pays to remember (one of his words!) that Page of Pentacles is one of those cards that can say a pronoun and nothing more, can say the pronoun plus any one of his verbs (the think/feel/know tribe), or can just say the verb. Magician is famous for that too. So (1) he, (2) thinks, (3) he thinks.
Five of Wands – Five guys are exerting themselves in some activity (known only to them). They could be exercising, they could be fighting, they could be competing in some game. Whatever it is, it’s a lot of effort and they are trying hard at it. These are all favorite Five of Wands words.

Five of Wands’ main words and phrases are fairly few and are similar. Contest, compete, competition. Try, try hard, effort. Exercise or workout. Fighting, being against, or resisting/resistance. Although Five of Wands per se isn’t associated with work, it will translate ‘work’ and ‘work hard,’ not usually associated with employment-work, just working hard at something.

Empress is obviously the gorgeous dame. She is also spoiled, luxury-loving. She is also cozy, laid back, easygoing. She is well off sometimes too. Put Empress and Five of Wands together, and you have these phrases: it’s hard for her to ‘ chill out, an effort to look beautiful ( Five of Wands is an effort), a beauty contest (Five of Wands is a contest or competition), a fight with his woman, being against women, making an effort re a beautiful woman.

Empress and Page of Pentacles describe a fellow’s thoughts that a woman is beautiful, his ideal gal, sexy, privileged or spoiled, or you can drop the ‘thought’ part and have her simply be his princess, his goddess. These two cards show a guy interested in trophy women or a trophy woman, show him spoiling her.

In Empress and Five of Wands, a woman tries hard to look good; she is in a beauty contest; she relaxes after her workout; she looks great because she exercises; he figures she is hard work for him; trying to get pregnant; there’s competition for her, or she is competitive with other gals; or he fights with what he sees as a spoiled woman. These two cards also say ‘It’s hard for me to chill out.’

In Page of Pentacles and Five of Wands, the focal point (the beautiful woman) is removed, and we have some general statements. Here are some of them. Considering a contest. Trying to see yourself in a particular way. You work at who you are. Compete to be noticed or looked at. Fighting is on my mind. Be smart and work hard. Hard for him to resist. He is against something. You know it’s hard to. He is the competitive type. The competition lets you know. Against the idea. You know the effort something takes. Resistant to the idea.

Nine of Cups – Empress – Page of Pentacles

These three Rider Waite Tarot cards are variations on the theme of having the life you want and the love you want: the perfect woman and the fellow who thinks she’s perfect, a mutual admiration society of being enough and having enough. Nine of Cups is wanting what you have and having what you want. Empress is being beautiful in the comfort of a good life, and even being spoiled and/or pregnant. Page of Wands is feeling that way and being mindful of it.
……………………. Nine of Cups is so simple: I’ve got satisfaction, it’s what I want and I’ve got it right here. Nine of Cups is not only having what you want, but knowing you have it and, moreover, most of the time feeling grateful or at least very pleased about it. You see the chubby fellow with the big grin who has partied up to ten empty glasses on the shelf behind him.
……………………. Empress has that cozy pleased safunsified feeling about her too. She too has what she wants: the cozy comfortable life of a great looking woman who is spoiled and adored. Empress too has plenty, ‘riches,’ if you will. She is a composite of all the fertility goddesses, so her meanings are as contradictory as the traits of a fertility goddess. The most obvious conflicting meanings are the ideal woman and the slutty woman – because fertility goddesses did their sexy duty. She is pregnant because that is also the job of a fertility goddess.

I say ‘almost’ because with all three first cards referring to wealth, and the King of Pentacles being a banker, well, he may want their money as well as their bodies. Now, ‘wealth’ is relative. Don’t exclude yourself from this story because you don’t have classical show money.
Advice suggests money and romance converge whilst girls are out on the town. And this is the weekend. So, if you are in a dating stage, get yourself sassy and go out looking. If not … maybe do it anyway?
Meanings and Illustrations:
Empress: She is the fertility goddess, so she is beautiful rich and sexy, living the easy life. Speaking of easy, she may be that, too. None of those fertility goddesses were too chaste. Empress is a ‘resource.’
Three of Cups: Here are three more just like the goddess. They share, they have fun, they date, they pool their money and efforts together. They celebrate. And they party, too. It is girls’ night out.
King of Pentacles: This is the Italian Stallion, the sexy powerful rich man. He is ‘manipulative,’ so he is a player too. Probably married, though. He is shown very Italianesque, what with the grapes all over him and that sexy pout.
Page of Pentacles: He looks, he thinks, he sees. He came, he saw and … Illustration shows a fellow gazing wistfully at his ‘coin.’ He stands for an emphasis on ‘who he is.’ In this case, rich and out on the town gazing at the dames.

Well, once again I put down two spreads trying for variety when Tarot is talking only about romance. Once again, they are similar and mostly about romance. I contemplate limiting a spread soon, in the questions, to non-romantic topics such as business.
