Four of Pentacles – Keep in mind that Four of Pentacles can mean both holding onto something (the hug he is doing to himself in the picture) and shutting something out (also due to his ‘closed’ body posture, including the poker-faced staring straight ahead).

To repress and to keep secret, or not admit, not acknowledge, not talk: These are common Four of Pentacles applications. So are phrases that mean ‘to refrain from’ or ‘not let himself/herself/myself/ourselves.’ “Stifle yourself,” Archie often advised Edith. (All in the Family, classic old TV). That is how the back of my mind characterizes Four of Pentacles. Sometimes Four of Pentacles describes being out of place in your current environment, and just closing down because you and this place don’t have a line of communication at all.

But traditionally – and what is common to most decks – Four of Pentacles is The Miser: He is holding onto his money for dear life. This gives Four of Pentacles a category about budgeting, being short of money, being cheap, not wanting to pay, doing without, and some other applications that would include holding onto your money. ‘Being short of’ expands to other things than money as well: feeling (or being) inferior. It also includes ‘not enough’ as a general phrase.

Four of Pentacles is pent-up feelings too: repression. With Seven of Cups today, Four of Pentacles could be about to explode from those pent-up feelings. We did not go there in our one-sentence readings because Lovers is a connection, which doesn’t easily fit in with that story.

And besides pent-up feelings, Four of Pentacles is deep feelings, often translating ‘deep down inside’ or ‘deeply felt’ or even ‘deep.’

Note that a medical question will bring Four of Pentacles for ‘internal.’ Once in a while if the name of an organization or department includes the word ‘internal,’ this Four of Pentacles card will appear. Think ‘internal affairs.’
Seven of Cups – Our Seven of Cups story is mainly The Sorcerer’s Apprentice (Fantasia video), and it also fits Pandora’s Box. The confined evil spirits are let loose by negligence. In Sorcerer’s Apprentice, it is the magician’s hapless apprentice who thinks he can fill the boss’ shoes manipulating the spirits, but they are loose and out of his control all over the place. Elements of this story are the main applications of Seven of Cups.

All sorts of things: This is the most common Seven of Cups concept. Scattered about, debris, miscellaneous objects jumbled together, needle-in-a-haystack, one chance in a million, messy or ‘a mess,’ whatever you do, every possible way, pieces or in pieces – words and phrases like that, and there are lots and lots of them. Be creative – whatever fits your story.

Out of control: This too is an extremely common concept of Seven of Cups. It applies across the board: losing control of temper, or of steering, imagination gone rampant – anything at all. ‘Awry’ is an appropriate old-fashioned word for our Seven of Cups card.

It doesn’t make sense: Another frequent Seven of Cups application. Messed up, irrational, a wreck, flies off the handle,’ rant and rave, lurid, crazy, or just confusing or confused.
.
Shock. Surprise. The apprentice is in shock. You do something ordinary and something extraordinary happens ‘in your face.’
.
Undoing. Shit hits fan. Here are today phrases for this part of Seven of Cups: fall apart, unravel, when chaos happens, as our lives fall apart, ruins your day, shattered, coming apart at the seams.

The spirits get out and are loose doing their mischief: Seven of Cups is ‘gets out’ in the sense of the cat is out of the bag, word gets out (scandal), but only in that sense of the phrase.
.
Last, Seven of Cups includes the redemption of the out-of-control situation – the hope, maybe slim hope, that the chaos isn’t ongoing: The cup with the veil over it is the lone good spirit that was in the box. In Pandora’s Box, it gets out after the bad-guys have a head start.

Lovers – A cluttered illustration makes for cluttered meanings. (If you are looking for a comprehensive report of Lovers meanings, Google ‘Tarot Verbatim Lovers.’ First, of course, this card means lovers, love relationship, love affair, the one you love, love life, being with someone you love, etc. All of that.

Lovers is two people together, and ‘together’ is one of its leading translates. It is two people together in any way, as well – standing together, being in the same room, being on the same side, being partners, pairing up, being face to face – as well as less obvious togetherness like joint names, and ‘with you’ or ‘with’ whoever. It could even translate ‘co’ for, say co-chairman or co-sponsor.

Watch for Lovers to say ‘connect’ in any form of the word. As you may know, meanings in Tarot Verbatim are discovered in the field and recorded; they are not derived by any theory or assignment, and are sometimes counterintuitive.
.
A good example of counterintuitive is the fact that Lovers reliably translates ‘insurance.’ This meaning arises from another fairly counterintuitive translate: supervision. The angel above Adam and Eve there is a higher power and is literally above them: a ‘higher-up.’ And Lovers will translate ‘higher-ups’ in employment inquiries. The angel is looking at them, which brings both ‘surveillance’ and ‘looking out for’ as a guardian angel would. (But this fiery-haired extraterrestrial, to me, is likely the angel that performed the eviction in the story.)

As I deal with more and more people who do their own Tarot inquiries, I find these meanings the system I discovered (by asking thousands of questions I knew the answers to over ten years) are accurate in readings that students recorded before they used Tarot Verbatim, which is strange. This ‘insurance’ meaning for Lovers is one of them. So this may be true for you.

Once again these four cards made many sentences that were about very unrelated things, so I made two days’ worth of messages. Today we cover the very general topic of the process (the recipe) for how events are made, how things come about.
There are people who decide to take charge and make a project happen, who are responsible ambitious leaders. They succeed at getting things done one way or the other. They would be Chariot types.
There are people who let things happen, who let others make the decisions, take charge, and get things done. They are passive to people who get in their way, and they cling to their programming.
There are oppositional people who do get in the way and resist what is happening. They are the aginners, some people call them. They fight you every step of the way sometimes.
And these people connect, engage, are together: Lovers is the place they meet, the place the action takes place.

Two of our Rider Waite Tarot folks are about doubt and reservations, about suspicions and secrets: Seven of Pentacles doubts, wonders, ponders and ruminates, while Four of Pentacles has reservations, plays its cards (no pun!) close to its chest, is in secrecy about, and is short of – short of money most often.
The other two are about relationship and connection. Lovers is a connection and of course a love relationship; also partners and two people who are together in something. Three of Pentacles is about a meeting of the minds in a deal or relationship, and about negotiating.
Is there enough benefit, or not, in this deal to suit each of the parties so that they do their parts? – is our theme. Robert Ringer wrote a best seller about this. It is called Looking Our for Number One, and is a great handbook for the New York approach to life, the art of the deal.

Four Card Spreads, Our Daily Spread
HOW TO USE THE MATERIAL WE HAVE FOR YOU HERE. Read the sentences, and pick out the ones that seem to apply to you, to the people around you. They are a Tarot analysis of your day’s circumstances. As the day (or several days) unfolds, you may find the information is relevant. The question is: “Tell the visitors here something useful and meaningful to them.” Often, your adopting the attitude you feel in the blog works for your day!
Without a question to focus the answer, four cards can mean even contradictory things. Without a question also the pronouns in a group reading are less specific, more flexible, especially in some of these Rider Waite Tarot spreads. Especially when a pronoun is in parentheses, feel free to substitute.
The Advice section sums up a general meaning of all the sentences.
CHARIOT
Six of Pentacles, Five of Wands, Two of Cups
Meanings and Illustrations:
Two of our four Rider Waite Tarot cards in today’s presentation are about being responsible, doing the right thing; one is about mooching or cheating; and in the middle is an effort or a fight (or being against). That is the configuration of things today.
Six of Pentacles and Chariot are the responsible citizens. Six of Pentacles in Rider Waite Tarot shows an employer paying his laborers exactly what they have earned. Chariot shows a skilled driver who coordinates his unruly steeds into forward progress when they would deviate therefrom, left to their own devices. Both the employer and the Charioteer are using willpower to get the right thing done.
Five of Wands is the Rider Waite Tarot card that shows the five fellows going at one another with boards in some kind of fight or struggle (or competition). This story is about an effort or a struggle, says the Five of Wands. These two responsible people are trying hard. Or, they are facing the resistance of – once again, self-willed devious entities, in the Two of Cups. Two of Cups is about mooching, cheating, taking advantage, being as selfish and self-willed as those two unruly steeds in the Chariot. But Two of Cups can also be a grand love affair, too. Two of Cups shows a couple committing to one another with the symbol of deceit, the caduceus gizmo, between them.
The advice is that it is not enough to be ambitious, work hard and get ahead; you also have to be wise enough to deal with the saboteurs, the mooches, the dependents, the opposition to forward progress. Succeeding involves fighting your way through both the factors and the people who are rocks in the road, who are in your way by being who they are. Notice there is no enmity here: the opposition is natural forces, and simple rational determination is the way to deal with those forces and those people.
TAROT ANALYSIS
Being Responsible:
Doing right by others is a way to resist being taken advantage of.
He deliberately pays employees what they are worth: both the slackers and the ones who make an effort.
He chooses to resist cheating on his lover and to treat her right.
The vehicle has a hidden defect he is trying to set to rights.
Difficult to pay off debt with interest but (he) intends to do that.
Throws himself into this grand love affair with the aim of making it ‘legal.’
Others Profit from (His) Effort/Labor:
A third party profits from his struggles to make it.
He is ambitious, he works hard to get paid and is being taken advantage of.
Worked hard and paid ‘through the nose’ for that vehicle.
The effort you make to get ahead pays off for third parties too.
Oh, the skill and the effort it takes to support dependents.
The competition is spending other people’s money to get ahead.
Being Irresponsible:
Tries to take advantage of responsible people who pay their bills.
If the mooch put the effort into a paycheck, he would be ahead.
His effort and his deliberate intention is to screw everybody out of their money.
When someone is against personal responsibility, his expenses are paid by others.
(He) has good intentions to treat (you) right, but he gets involved in cheating.
