Advice Even a happy marriage is an aggravation, especially with a misbehaving child, or an issue about children;  but two grumpy people can be happy together too.   Getting away for some fun means a lot … unless only one party is going out to have that fun.  Here we examine two edgy people as a couple, the ramifications of their lives together as a married couple.

Being Happily Married (Sun + Four of Wands)

This unhappy woman is happily married to this husband.

Married woman expects to get out of the house for some fun with Husband.

She demands of her husband that they move out of this neighborhood or house.

Two hostile people escape from their aggravations and enjoy living as a couple.

Their charming boy is making his still-married parents’ angry at one another.

What has him and her at odds with one another is the ‘issue’ (a boychild) of their marriage.

Being happy at home as a couple when each of us is stressed.

He and she relieve, on vacations, the stress of living in that State.

Having done without a husband, she is happy and relieved to be married.

He is happy to be married to her, and she feels taken advantage of.

She has high standards for a husband-material since she got out of a marriage.

She expects a husband to make her a happy home.

She is doing without children being married to this husband.

He and she make a happy home for their son and their lives are stressful.

She dutifully makes her husband and son a home.

They are happy together but each is a grumpy, annoyed person.

The edgy aggravated couple (King of Wands + Queen of Swords)

He is an edgy man because he married an unpleasant woman because of the kid.

Husband is the playboy leaving the wife at home aggrieved.

Two angry people remain a married couple because of the child.

She is disgruntled living with a childish man.

He has this infantile temper, and she is an angry martyred wench: They live together!

Leaving the marriage is such a relief: They were each so angry with one another!

She can endure Husband because he is out of the house, and it’s her happy place then.

He is a working man and she wants him to get out of that and be society.

Misbehaving child sets both him and her on edge in their own home.

He is free of the complaining nag he was married to.

He is like mama’s husband but he is out of mama’s house.

She whines to her married son as if she were his wife.

Four of Wands
King of Wands – Sun – Queen of Swords

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

We are at this angry-couple story again, the negative marriage this time. Gee, we have the angry irritated King of Wands man and his angry irritated put-upon Queen of Swords wife. In between them is either a miscreant boychild or the relief of leaving the house; above them is marriage or the house. Not too much dimension to this spread today.

Both King of Wands and Sun are callous uninhibited and impulsive seekers of whatever is fun for them, guys who are ‘just out to have some fun, just want to enjoy life,’ which they feel justified in. So the martyred Queen of Swords fits right into that household. (Of course, she can be the annoyance that sets them off, too, but her meaning is not about behavior; it is about the feeling of being taken advantage of and being encroached upon.)

King of Wands The good-old-boy here, the edgy childish (even hostile) dude with the temper who is very physical and uncultivated, the working man too. He is uninhibited, impulsive, grumpy, annoyed and passionate; he is also the husband card in Rider Waite Tarot, in Tarot Verbatim ™. King of Wands is at odds with (whoever), is stressed out. He is a sports fan and he tends to get in fights, which makes me think he drinks beer.

Sun In this setting, Sun sheds some of its meanings and is the boy, the son or child, the ‘happy’ of ‘happy marriage,’ as well as vacation, escape and getting out of the house. He is the playboy, the childish funloving churl who gets out of the house to misbehave and leaves the mama who makes the rules at home.

Queen of Swords is dissatisfied with her lot in life, she has grievances and is disgruntled – whether she is an actual victim or just resentful wanting more. She can be the righteous put-upon self-sacrificing martyr, or the overly aggressive demanding wench. She can be the dutiful woman with high standards (that are not being met) as well as the strong woman of character. She is stern. In her illustration she is say “Now would be good” with her arm outstretched and that no-nonsense look on her face. Another aspect of Queen of Wands is the woman mourning a baby or husband.
Four of Wands today is the house and the marriage, is living together under the same roof. It isn’t being the organization or neighborhood or the society leaders or political entity much today.

Advice Family strife is our subject,  no way around it.  The divorce or blowup,  the militant woman’s demands,  the marriage and  ‘this is the routine.’  The same situation at work where a walkout or strike –  or at least quitting or getting fired –  is afoot.  Repairing a damaged house is a parallel situation to these –  come to think of it!  –  and Tarot has.  She keeps working in this combative environment.  A whole family whines about one thing after another until you want to explode.  Employees at this company complain about tirades.

She has had one marriage and divorce after the other.

A whole family whines about one thing after another until you want to explode.

One clash after another with the matriarch of the family.

Leaves home because of mama-bat’s constant demands.

Strife at or about work,  Quitting or Being Fired (Tower + Eight of Pentacles)

She is mad enough to quit her job at that company.

Employees at this company complain about tirades.

Employees strike at the company and present demands.

MEANINGS AND ILLUSTRATIONS:  OBSERVATION OF THE SPREAD

Oh dear.  Right off the bat there’s Tower (divorce) and Four of Wands (marriage).  Smack in the middle is the dissatisfied militant woman who is not getting what she deserves (or thinks she does) a/k/a  ‘the bitch.’  She can also be the victim.  And other other card means  ‘this keeps happening.’  That hits you in the face if you have even a little Tarot Verbatim Rider Waite experience.

Eight of Pentacles + Four of Wands is  ‘work for the company.’  It’s also construction work or working on a house.  Tower + Eight of Pentacles is employees being fired,  walking out,  quitting,  confronting,  striking or …  throwing things,  destroying things,  or having things thrown at them.

Queen of Swords is the dissatisfied demanding person,  so Queen of Swords + Eight of Pentacles is employees’ demands.  It could be her constant nagging and complaining,  too.

So we mostly have combat or reconstruction!

MEANINGS AND ILLUSTRATIONS:  INDIVIDUAL RIDER WAITE TAROT CARDS

Tower shows lightning blowing down a building and people falling out of it.  The crown at the top of the building suggests an overthrow of power.  It means divorce,  hitting or destroying,  explosion or blowing up in a temper tantrum,  combative,  outbursts,  confrontation,  beating.

Queen of Swords is the victim,  the bitch,  the complaining,  nagging, whining militant wench,  mama-bat.  She is also the woman who does without,  who is sacrificing (an earlier stage?) –   and the woman of strong character or strong woman.   An older woman with her hand outstretched,  palm partly turned upward in that gesture of imperious but importune demand we have all seen …  and done.

Eight of Pentacles always doing this over and over.  Same routine.  Work.  Job.  Employee.  Keep at it,  keep trucking.  The carpenter is at his work bench intently making one identical object after the other.

Four of Wands is home and marriage,  neighborhood and family,  the community of upstanding people.  Pictured is a society wedding which invokes the public aspect of marriage,  since it is uniting leading families.
