GUIDANCE Some people amaze me the way that the influence of other people is, to them, ‘water off a duck’s back.’ Some of these people are overt mavericks, but some of them seamlessly integrate themselves into whatever families, companies, or communities they belong … or seem to belong … to. Whatever you are a part of reduces some of your choices, and people who aren’t really a part of anything have more choices. Of course, you could say the are sociopaths … but, hey, as long as you’re respectable, you know ….

Could This Be YOU?

You immediately get an idea
because you know a few of them intimately AND

Tarot Readings: Four of Wands and Page of Cups
Am I a joiner or a loner?
Here’s the odd couple, the outsiders.
People wonder why you ignore them.
The silly end of respectability surrounds us.
Why marry a woman who’s that independent?
Whether to join them or feel superior to them.
This couple sure seems to keep to themselves.
Curious about these people who dance to a different drummer.
.
Tarot Readings: Four of Wands and World
She is independent of the family, it seems.
All those good-looking women: Where are they?
Why marry when you’ve ‘got the world by the tail’?
Other people don’t influence her; she’s a strange one.
This one company has the top female talent somehow.
Being excluded from these normal people as the weirdo.
You marry a trophy woman and wonder why she is so cold.
To marry, or to be in a class by herself: That is the question.
.
Tarot Readings: Page of Cups and World
It’s a strange world we live in.
Wonder why all the privacy in the family.
Can I just be independent of everybody?
Being different excuses you from belonging.
Feeling awkward and out of place at this house.
How can I get that curvy woman to pair up with me?
Have nothing to do with that goofy person I married.
What can I do? – she pays no attention to people like me.
I have nothing in common with this weird bunch of people.
Maybe you don’t get attention from her because you’re married?

Four of Wands – Pictured is the public celebration of a society wedding; it’s a show of the respectability-power of the ruling class, and, yes, Four of Wands does represent the established order, Establishment, ruling class … whatever you want to call it. So Four of Wands is the respectable people and the power people. Four of Wands represents groups of people and represents companies from the couple to international tribunals and organizations. Four of Wands could be the CIA and also Judicial Watch, an organization that investigates agencies like the CIA.
.
Four of Wands on a normal Tarot-reading day shows up for these things: couple, marry, married, marrying, pair up, family, people, other people, people who, normal people, all, everybody, bunch of people, us, we, them, our, they, their. Plural pronouns.
.
Four of Wands is joining, belonging, being a member of (whatever). It translates ‘everybody,’ its meaning is so general as to groups of people … and ‘everybody else.’
.
Four of Wands also represents home and house – the place a person (or other entity) lives in and headquarters at.
Page of Cups – You see a fellow dressed in women’s clothing, who carries a fish around in a cup, his hand on his hip as women do when they are assertively making a point. A misfit. A ridiculous figure. This of course is one of the cards for cross-dressing, sometimes for homosexuality, for being out-of-place, feeling awkward, being funny-looking or weirdness. Today it translates: odd, silly, strange, weird, goody, being different and feeling awkward.
.
Page of Cups, along with Seven of Pentacles, represents a question, questioning, questionable. As a matter of fact, when this Page of Cups card appears as your first (or even the second) Self card in Celtic Cross spreads, it can alert you-the-reader that, one, there’s something ‘off’ with the question, or, two, the information is true but you may not believe it, or may not ‘get’ it.’
.
Page of Cups often translates ‘whether,’ ‘why,’ ‘wonder why,’ ‘whether to.’ Any question, really, can belong to page of Cups. Today we use these: ‘Am I?’, ‘Where are they?’, ‘Can I be?’, ‘How can I get that?’, ‘What can I do?’ And ‘Can I just be?’
.
A very frequent Page of Cups word is ‘seems.’ Page of Cups has homesteaded this word, along with ‘somehow.’
.
Page of Cups also co-owns ‘question’ along with Seven of Pentacles. Page of Cups owns ‘curious,’ though.
.
You see a ridiculous figure, a person subject to ridicule. So Page of Cups is being ‘different,’ feeling awkward.
.
It’s easy to miss when, once in a while, this is the card for being inappropriately dressed.
World – To be excluded, and to exclude: These are World’s main applications. To ignore or to be ignored. To not pay any attention, or to not be paid attention to. They arise from the wall around the dancing figure, the wall of a wreath. It represents the magic circle that keeps all the bad spirits out, and it represents the way a high-level insider person isn’t familiar with low-level outsider persons. (Einstein did not teach first grade math type thing.) The superior ignores; the inferior doesn’t get attention. World is about being independent as well as being superior: either one, or both.
.
World also represents the concept of privacy, of being ‘in a world of your own.’ They say it’s lonely at the top, and you find World meaning the pinnacle of achievement, being top talent, being in a class by yourself, being superior.
.
Sometimes World is surrounded; sometimes that is the focus of this illustration.
.
The nude dancer with the terrific figure will of course translate as the curvy women or zoftig woman, beautiful woman, gorgeous dame, etc. Quite often, the woman isn’t available, isn’t paying attention.
.
Once in a great while World picks up the common word ‘world,’ too.
.
.

.
World is an individual unto herself, shutting out all outside influences. (‘I have nothing in common with this weird bunch of people.’) Four of Wands is all kinds of belonging, from personal and family level to international. In between them is a question mark (Page of Cups) that begs us to say ‘Do I want to be single or married?’ or ‘Do I want to join or be private?’ So that is the main theme of this spread, and it can be applied in a variety of ways.
.
These three cards, for example, can be about a superior person (World, she who has no faults) who is a misfit (Page of Cups) among classmates, coworkers, family or neighbors (Four of Wands).
.
Page of Cups is feeling awkward at the house of (Four of Wands) a person who is his superior, or who has nothing to do with him for whatever reason (World). Four of Wands and Page of Cups, after all, can represent a bunch of (Four of Wands) idiots (Page of Cups). Maybe (Page of Cups) their style of respectability (Four of Wands) is inappropriate or even silly (Page of Cups). Yeah, Page of Cups owns ‘silly.’
.
World is an independent woman – isn’t social. Four of Wands is marriage, living with, family. Page of Cups sitting in between them asks if you really want to live with someone who isn’t social. He also is asking ‘Are you a joiner (Four of Wands) or a loner (World)? Because Four of Wands is all kinds of belonging, and hence can easily say ‘joiner.’ This choice is also phrased ‘A joiner or a loner.’ And since World keeps to herself, and Four of Wands is a couple, we have a couple who keeps to themselves. Because gender is flexible in Tarot; it has to be. Page of Cups is curious, so ‘curious about these people.’ And since World is privacy, we have family privacy with this pair of Tarot cards.
.
Other people (Four of Wands) don’t influence her (World). Someone thinks that’s strange (Page of Cups).
.
Four of Wands can be ‘all the people’ or ‘everybody.’ So Four of Wands and Page of Cups can say ‘Doesn’t everybody?’ … and, today, say it to that World dame who’s above it all. They can also say ‘Why marry?’ as in ‘Why marry that independent dame?’
Page of Cups can add ‘it seems’ to a sentence … just about any sentence. It’s a good way to dispose of him (parenthetically) if you can’t think of what he contributes to your sentence.
.

..…..………..
Why do they exclude you from their circle? A wonderful branch of the military did not accept candidates whose IQ was over 90 once upon a time. How bad the rejected fellows must have felt not realizing they were merely too smart. Maybe you’re ‘too good for those people.’ You don’t have much in common with these respectable people who have you wondering so much about why you feel awkward and out of place around them. Ever wonder whether you could be independent of everybody?
