With Hermit being the doctor, and Justice being normal, ‘The doctor says you’re normal.’ (In real life, you would take a second look to see which your spread was saying, if the two views were incompatible.) They also say ‘factually correct’ because Hermit is the facts, and Justice of course means correct. We also have ‘Sober as a judge,’ with Justice being a judge, and Hermit is sober. We also have the poetic ‘Where the facts meet the truth,’ which could go either way since both cards mean both things, but Hermit is more truth, and Justice is more facts, when you put them together. Being of service to others (Hermit as the service monk) is the right way (Justice). ………..…………… Hanged Man and Hermit Hanged Man and Hermit are both spiritual cards. Hanged Man is a vision, enlightenment, receiving paranormal information, ‘getting it,’ hunches and eureka and deja vu, instinct and vibes and premonitions, the ‘click’ kind of realization … ‘So THAT’S it.’ Hermit is the mature, scholarly, wise, devoted, humble and helpful friend and guide. Put these two together and you have grounded paranormal perspectives and experiences. Both these cards mean ‘true/truth’ and ‘factual,’ so the phrase ‘factual truth’ can be interpreted either way, interchangeably, with them. They both mean BOTH ‘know’ and ‘see’ in any of these verbs’ forms. AND they both mean sober. So when you have them together in a spread, a lot of your phrases are interchangeable. Hermit, as a monk, is associated with religion, which is irrelevant in today’s spread.

Hermit is wisdom, so they can say ‘Wisdom from my vision quest,’ re-using Hermit as both ‘wisdom’ and ‘quest.’ Hanged Man is a psychic impression or experience; Hermit means factual, so your psychic impression is factual. Justice …….. They say you can’t define pornography but you know it when you see it … and not everyone has the same view. Justice is just like that. It’s not fair, people say, but they don’t say that when the unfair situation is advantageous to them. Justice often translates should or ought, sane and sober, right and straight, entitled and rights, normal and balanced. It relates to any kind of court, any proceedings of regulatory boards, police and lawyers and judges and mediators and facilitators. Law enforcement is expressed by the combination of the sword and the scales of justice in the illustration.

Hanged Man …………. Hanged Man is upside-down with his brain afire, which depicts how you feel when some intense realization rearranges your reality in an instant. The illustration really arises from many myths of the main-character god or hero being hung on a tree, often for three days, in order to acquire, usually, wisdom. Odin, the head God of Norse myth, is one of them. Hanged Man’s main word is ‘realize.’ He also owns: enlightenment, inspired or inspiration, instinct, intense feeling, being attuned, receiving psychic or paranormal influences or experiences, vision, has radar, get an urge, ‘get it’ or ‘click,’ perspective, different light, vibes, and even ‘know.’
Hermit …………. Hermit is the monk who goes out at night to help people on the road. A warm bed and hot meal are at the monastery for them. So Hermit is seeking and he is on the path, and he is associated with spirituality. He is also helpful, kind, patient, wise, humble, sincere, devoted and supportive. His celibacy translates to being monogamous in your ordinary-world spreads. Often, this Tarot Verbatim™ card indicates the person comes to (you), or takes the initiative to contact. It is also about any kind of search, ‘looking for’ anything or ‘looking out for’ anyone or anything. He is religious, obviously, and can stand for a priest or monk or other religious servant-leader. Hanged Man and Hermit Another spread with no action cards. In fact all of them exclude action. First there’s Hanged Man and Hermit both meaning knowing. Hanged Man is awareness, eureka, psychic or extrasensory awareness, vision, suddenly knowing as in a deja vu experience, ‘it hits you.’ Hermit is the wise old man, the one who is patient in having knowledge for a long time and using it. He is also seeking and helping, and is out at night, looking and searching (the closest we come to action here.)
Four of Swords and Hermit Then there’s Four of Swords that specifically means no action. It joins the ‘awareness’ theme in that it is meditation, sleeping on it, taking time out. It and Hermit have a connection to church but we aren’t using it. The three cards (Hanged Man and Four of Swords and Hermit) are all contemplative and play well together – all men, too.
So let’s throw a spoiler into the mix. What better spoiler than the businesswoman, the competent person in the real physical world, the one with expertise in running an enterprise? Nine of Pentacles does join the themes with the fact she stays where she is (along with Four of Swords) and is knowledgeable (along with Hermit and Hanged Man).
Hanged Man and Hermit Hermit and Hanged Man both understand, and both are spiritual – in different ways of course. Hemit is understanding in a wise and kind way. He applies his understanding in the service of other people. Hanged Man’s focus is on the understanding itself: He ‘gets it,’ has an inspiration, a flash of intuition, or a psychic realization.
Four of Swords and Hermit Hermit and Four of Swords are also expressing a spirituality and are Roman Catholic oriented in their illustrations. Hermit is a monk; Four of Swords is a knight doing the vision quest part of the knighthood ceremony, in a cathedral.

Nine of Pentacles Emphasized today are Nine of Pentacles’ privacy, solitude, being at home, familiar surroundings, leisurely meanings. See her in the vineyard with her falcon, and wearing a lounge gown? A very private person, not one to socialize. Possibly a woman of leisure because the snail at her feet tells us ‘in her own sweet time.’
Hanged Man illustrates the moment a subconscious concept drops onto the floor of the conscious mind like a grenade. Awareness, realization, intuition, enlightenment, inspiration or an inspired idea, sees and knows. Suddenly a thought strikes and you see things from a different perspective because you realize something you knew all along. It all snaps together, and you feel upside-down. That is what the illustration is about. There are a number of religious sagas about hanging on a tree to get wisdom, the Norse being one.
Four of Swords The candidate for knighthood must spend a night (or more) in the vicinity of a holy relic in a church seeking a vision. Pictured here is that vision quest. So Four of Swords is being out of the action, sleeping or reflecting on things. It’s lying around doing nothing, downtime. Its ‘not participating in action’ theme expands to include being indifferent, things ‘still’ being the same, things you are used to, and not having to do something.
Hermit The wise old man (an archetype) here is a monk who goes out on the road in the cold with a light to find and aid travelers on the road. He is a physician. People wake up and see someone dressed like this standing by their bed; it is a healing dream that wakes the dreamer. Hermit is seeking; he is patient; he goes out looking; he finds a way or finds his way. Hermit stands for ‘a fact,’ for investigating, for demonstrating, for discovering and discovery. He observes, observes objectively. Hermit knows, knows the truth (even translates ‘the truth’ sometimes), and is on a quest as a seeker. He stands for wisdom and ‘mentality,’ and, yes, sobriety. (This spread does not use some of its common meanings.)

.Nine of Pentacles.The Businesswoman, the successful and competent businesswoman, may be home-based and does run an enterprise or occupy a niche, and does have expertise. She does this in her own right (not like Queen of Pentacles who usually has a husband involved) and in her own good time: no Type A stuff here. See her in the vineyard with her falcon, and wearing a lounge gown? A very private person, not a buddy. Possibly a woman of leisure – she is at least content. The vineyard can signify an agricultural business.
Hanged Man.Awareness, realization, intuition, enlightenment, inspiration or an inspired idea, sees and knows. Suddenly a thought strikes and you see things from a different perspective because you realize something you knew all along. You feel upside-down. That is what the illustration is about. There are a number of religious sagas about hanging on a tree to get wisdom, the Norse being one.
Four of Swords.Out of the action. Sleep, sleep on it. Meditation. Retirement. Not doing anything. Laying around doing nothing. Get your rest. A vision quest. The candidate for knighthood must spend a night (or more) in a church seeking a vision in the vicinity of a holy relic.
Hermit.Hermit comes to you, to do a favor or kindness. He can be a counselor, a physician or healer, a kind friend, a person who is looking for something, investigating something, or is ‘on the road,’ especially at night. (Yes, he is an old man, and a night owl, sometimes, too.)

Four Card Spreads, Our Daily Spread, Tarot Verbatim
HOW TO USE THE MATERIAL WE HAVE FOR YOU HERE. Read the sentences, and pick out the ones that seem to apply to you, to the people around you. They are a Tarot analysis of your day’s circumstances. As the day (or several days) unfolds, you may find the information is relevant. The question is: “Tell the visitors here something useful and meaningful to them.” Often, your adopting the attitude you feel in the blog works for your day!
Without a question to focus the answer, four cards can mean even contradictory things. Without a question also the pronouns in a group reading are less specific, more flexible, especially in some of these Rider Waite Tarot spreads. Especially when a pronoun is in parentheses, feel free to substitute. The Advice section sums up a general meaning of all the sentences.

Seven of Cups
Hermit, Two of Pentacles, Hanged Man
The pattern here is two cards that mean ‘to understand’, each followed by a card that means something out of control or unstable. So we are saying something twice.
What advice are we saying? To take a good look, an intuitive look, at the loose cannons in our personal lives, understand and be aware of them. Those loose cannons are not presented here as problems but more as some underfoot stuff that gets in the way that you have to step around. A time of flux demands attention, analysis and intuitive sensing because fluxes are easy turning points, whether the turn is accidental or intended.
Perspectives:
Look around and see the fog.
See the same thing over and over and realize it makes no sense.
Analyzing the instabilities and seeing each separate unrelated instance.
You keep looking and see all sorts of things.
Now that I am sober, I realize I was only seeing things.
Knowing how silly all these things are makes you realize.
To know both factually and intuitively that it’s one damn-fool thing after another.
When you see how indecisive he/she is, you realize the shit has hit the fan.
When a wise man is being foolish, he realizes he is out of control.
Examining its erratic movement, (you) realize it’s disintegrating.
Keep looking for individual pieces that you relate to.
The old man is unsteady, he feels himself losing control.
Sometimes a sensible man’s imagination runs wild.
Seeing things, you realize you may or may not be sober.
He realizes that sometimes being kind and helpful makes a mess of things.
Meanings and Illustrations:
Hermit: The kind monk is looking at night with a lantern for travelers he can help. He is old, sensible and sober and wise. This Rider Waite Tarot card calls for words like: see, analyzing, knowing,examining, and ‘take a good look.’
Two of Pentacles: You see the back and forth movements of the juggler, the ships tossed up and down on wave s behind him. This Rider Waite Tarot card refers to such words as: around, over and over, instabilities, keep ___ing, now that, how silly, one thing after another, indecisive, foolishk, erratic movement, unsteady, may or may not, and sometimes.
Hanged Man: ‘To realize’ is the most frequent word Hanged Man calls for, along with ‘see’, relate to, intuitively, feels or senses, and imagination. The illustration depicts how you feel when you experience eureka, when you realize what you already know but never quite fully grasped. It depicts the very different view of the world you have when you have been spiritual for a while, and are becoming a citizen of other dimensions.
Seven of Cups: Illustration of the strange objects in the cloud is about either Pandora’s Box or the Sorcerer’s Apprentice. It is about spiritual things invading physical reality … which reminds you of what I just said about the Hanged Man. It brings forth many different phrases but they are pretty much on the same target. Here are the words we find for it in this spread: fog, makes no sense, each separate unrelated instance, all sorts of things, only seeing things, all these things, damn-fool thing, shit has hit the fan, out of control, disintegrating, individual pieces, losing control, runs wild, imagination runs wild, seeing things and makes a mess of things.
