Hermit Hermit is one of those cards with a lot of unrelated meanings, meanings held together only by the illustration and the story. So here’s the story.

Winter snow is on the ground as the old man, a monk in sincere service to travelers, patiently goes out looking for them on the path with his lamp. He is a guide who knows the way, and he offers counsel and wisdom. He comes to them even to treat them medically, because he is a healer or doctor.

.

These are nine of the meanings of Hermit we use today (plus a few). There are more – the religious ones, and the celibacy or monogamy ones, the friend and caretaker ones. Google ‘Hermit Tarot Verbatim’ to dig them all up.

Two of Swords – And here’s one of our major negators. Two of Swords most of the time is simply: not, don’t, isn’t, can’t. Like most negators, it also means: end, stop, never, and nothing. They sometimes say ‘quit’ too.

.

The illustration reminds you of Eight of Swords which often means ‘can’t.’ A woman in a night dress, who is blindfolded, balances two double-edged swords in her crossed arms (hard to put them down). It is night time, and she sits alone on a stone bench with her back to a body of water.

Judgment – Alive again, awakened suddenly when that angel’s horn announces Judgment Day: a big change, a new life, going back to the way you were (alive) and recovering. Here is where the spiritual and the material intersect: That is the meaning of the equal-sided cross on the angel’s flag.

.

Here are today’s words that describe the immediate event itself: surprise, alarm, change.

.

Here are the words for today that describe the change: recover, new life, start over, turning back, again.

.

And here are the words from today’s post about a visionary experience: revelation, wake up, enlightenment.

.

Judgment has other categories of meaning we don’t use today – for example Judgment is a legal card, and it also is about announcements, press releases and publicity. Just Google ‘Judgment Tarot Verbatim’ and you will reach them from the archives of Tarot Verbatim™.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

             LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES..

. ….. .    .

Here is a dissertation upon the nature of negators. Negators and you. And how intuition breaks a tie when cards read more ways than one.

.

Hermit and Judgment each has quite a few meanings unrelated to anything but the concepts their pictures suggest. I didn’t put ‘Enlightenment has nothing to do with patience’ in the one-sentence readings, but I thought it immediately. Judgment is a sudden new perspective and Hermit is seeing things as they are – and there you have the negator, Two of Swords, in between: a story about suddenly realizing a truth or fact you did not before.

.

Hermit is the truth. Put that with a negator, and you have ‘isn’t true.’ Add Judgment’s ‘to tell’ and you have ‘Isn’t telling the truth.’ But of course these could just as easily say it is true, and I’m not telling you that. Always remember: The action goes both ways; and negators can attach (in a spread like this where all cards are equal) to any of the cards, and switch things around. Gotta watch that.

.

Hermit is seeking and is on the path, while Judgment is the revelation of the truth Hermit is seeking … but Two of Swords is in the way, changing that story to refusing to see the facts when they are brought to, or revealed to, whoever it is. But of course the same three cards could say the facts are not announced.

.

Another truism that I did not put in the list of one-sentence Tarot readings is ‘Old people don’t make noise’ or ‘You don’t shout the truth from the rooftops.’ But what is shouted from the rooftops (publicity, news!) is also not true – same cards.

.

Hermit is searching or looking for something. (Could be your car keys.) Here, he is looking for change and there is none. Or Hermit isn’t looking for change.

.

You see something clearly and tell them to stop. Or you see it and don’t tell them. Two of Swords means both ‘don’t’ and ‘stop.’ Context will usually tell you which it is – the context of the question, of the other cards, or of the known facts.

.

Not patient – Hermit and Two of Swords – also says ‘Patient when it’s not.’ You could make ‘Not patient about the surprise’ or you could make ‘Patient: It’s no surprise.’

.

Enlightenment happens when you’re not looking for it. Or ‘Not looking for enlightenment.’

.

The wisdom of quitting and starting over’ becomes ‘The wisdom of not starting over.’ You gotta watch these things. It helps to frame your question very specifically, and to remember to use the elements in your question as well as what you find in the cards’ talk to clarify what message you see.

.

Our main story – although we have a LOT of stories here today – is to search for what’s real, and not accept what you are told is.

AND NOW WITHOUT THE PICTURES:

.

Here is a dissertation upon the nature of negators. Negators and you. And how intuition breaks a tie when cards read more ways than one.

.

Our main story – although we have a LOT of stories here today – is to search for what’s real, and not accept what you are told is.

. ….. .     .

.

When you find the truth you are looking for, you tell everybody. They weren’t looking for it, so you spring a surprise upon them, and they aren’t hearing you. It’s okay; you do the same with them sometimes too. Keep searching because what you are told is the epiphany you seek (maybe upon the meaning of your life?) usually isn’t yours, it’s the news … it’s the publicity.  Could that be why they were not listening?

Hermit – Judgment – Knight of Wands

.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

.……..……….           Hermit and Knight of Wands have a few things in common, although one is a young active energetic redheaded fellow, and one is a wise old man. They are both on the road, and they are both pursuing (Knight of Wands) or looking for (Hermit) something. In the middle is Judgment which is about something they hear and about a change and about enlightenment. Pursuit is pursuit, whether it be the pursuit of love, life purpose or healing. Hermit is a doctor and Judgment is recovering. Hermit is searching and Judgment is discovery. Knight of Wands is in a hurry, and Judgment means ‘suddenly.’ Stories today, and lots of categories: Look at all the headlines we make today.

…………………….Hermit is one of those cards whose many elements give rise, in Tarot Verbatim™ to a number of categories, a number of different applications. Very comprehensive. Here is that comprehensive list from another post, quoted here for you, because many of them apply to today’s stories:

Hermit‘s illustration is of a service monk out on the road in winter night with a light to guide travelers to bed-and-breakfast at the monastery. Lots of material for phrases here:

Seeking, searching, search party

looking, watching, observing or observation, witness

investigation, investigating, investigator, surveillance, looking into

helping, watching out for,

friend, friend helps, supportive, caretaker, cares

good person, honest, humble and humility, sincere, low key person

guide (hence guidance, hence counselor)

Being on the road, trip, walk, on the Path, night travel, at night, road trip, comes to

old person or old man, mature, senior, sober

light (even a flashlight)

doctor, healer, medic or counselor,

wise, wisdom, enlightenment, understanding, analytical approach, the truth

pragmatic, practical and objective, person who knows, sober

celibate or monogamous, single or asexual, no sexual component, solitary, private person

religious person, and obviously a monk or a ‘religious’ – meaning personnel of particularly the Roman Catholic church who are monks, nuns, priests ….”

…………………….“Judgment too makes quite a few phrases due to the elements of its illustration. The angel blows his horn and awakens the dead, who are standing on the ocean, to new life on Judgment Day. Amazing and change are common words for Judgment.

*Judgment is one of the ‘talk‘ cards, specifically referring to a big announcement, publicity or press release, news, verbal and verbally, assert, say it again, declare, make a statement, and the verb ‘calls,’ especially when the call is an important part of the story.

*Judgment is one of the ‘recurring’ cards meaning new life, anew, another, again, flashback, switches (verb), new perspective, recovery or regeneration or ‘re’-almost-anything, reminder, repeat, say it again, re-do, return, returning to a former condition or position.

*Judgment is about entering a new phase and about a new consciousness, since the ocean in the illustration always stands for consciousness. Some of these ‘new life’ phrases are: eureka realization, enlightenment, epiphany, surprise, pops up, unexpected, near death experience, new phase, new birth, get well, new consciousness (the ocean).

*Look for Judgment to relate to any loud sound, alarm, hollering or screaming, honking or other noises. Once in a while, it even says ‘honked off.’ And of course it can also address horn music or horn players.”

……………………Knight of Wands is moving fast and is energetic. The illustration supports him leaving or fleeing (the look on his face, the rearing horse, the fact his weapon is not extended). Indeed ‘get out of Dodge’ and ‘run for the hills’ belong to Knight of Wands. However, this Tarot card in Tarot Verbatim™ does double duty for fleeing, and owns the phrases ‘hot pursuit’ and ‘hot to trot’ partly because this dude is another redhead (passion). So he will come up for the pursuit of a woman, for moving out of town, and for the avid pursuit of an interest.

Hermit and Knight of Wands get along well together to mean things like these: out looking, running around looking, an old man driving around, a friend who comes in a hurry, fleeing from a friend, honest folks move out of an area, quickly brings clarity, quickly leave when I take a good look at, rushes over to calm us down, I was calm as I headed pell mell, your friend rapidly.

All of a sudden you are really into some interest – person, place or thing – are ‘hot to trot’ as they say … something you didn’t give the time of day for, yesterday. Something … or nothing … gets you started, and you’re off. I once knew a fellow who was like that with books. He read hundreds of books … the first 12 pages of each. He was out of each book as quickly as he got in, and went from Shakespeare to motorcycles in a week. But we aren’t about that, specifically; we are about engaging wholly in one interest today.

Hermit……..Hermit is an old man out on foot in the cold slippery terrain of a mountain with his lamp, patiently searching for travelers on that road that he can take home to his monastery and provide them the comforts of an indoor place to sleep, some prayer and counseling perhaps, and a hot meal in the middle of the night. Every element of this illustration gives rise to an application and some meanings and phrases – lots of them. I listed them, quoted above in Learn Tarot by Observing.

.

Judgment………….Judgment is as busy with disparate meanings as Hermit is. The dead are coming back to life when the angel blows his horn in Judgment’s illustration. Its most common applications are therefore about reverting to a former state, changing, a sudden new (anything), doing over (many words beginning in ‘re-‘), an announcement or any say/tell word or phrase, and again. Here are the phrases we use today: back, he calls you, what a switch, this time … now, comes back, enlightenment, when I hear, changing my ways, sudden new perspective, big change, start a new life, start over, is alarmed, comes to life again, changes the _ you’re in, telling, quote you, what you are told, what I’m talking about, telling me how to, tells you how, a reminder, next time, again, statements, restores, get over it, change. This list is a good example of the flexible applications you don’t think right away of when you phrase your reading of Tarot. For example, ‘tell’ also embraces ‘what I’m talking about,’ ‘telling me how to,’ ‘statements,’ and ‘what you are told.’

.

Knight of Wands…….Knight of Wands is about moving and hurry. He is easy to apply. Here are his phrases for today’s stories: pursued, get moving, quickly, in high gear, go out of my way, where I’m going, blow town, leaves, energetic, the mad rush you’re in, move faster, in a hurry, go about it, fast, get out of something, get in your car and go, get there faster, runaway, runs around, energy, running, midstream.

Tarot Readings for You for August 28, 2014 Thursday(c)

Guidance      Let’s be a better person, we are saying here today. Let’s help out, and cooperate, and be kind … in a practical sane manner, nothing saccharine. In the same breath, we recover our good health and have a talk with God in private, maybe on a road trip alone at night. “I have seen the light, and it made me feel good.” ‘It’s easier when someone who really knows tells you all about it,’ we are saying. The same process is happening in our love life too: I’m in love again and it’s real this time.

Are YOU here for the first time? Come in!

People love this place! Our site is divided into four sections: Guidance, Tarot Readings, Learn Tarot by Observing, and Learn Tarot by Pictures.
If you just want your daily look ahead, Guidance and Tarot Readings are all you need. ‘Guidance’ (above) is a summary of what the cards are telling visitors to be aware of this day.

‘Group Tarot Cards Reading’ (just below this) is the actual word-for-word messages from the pictures of the three cards you see – to everyone. These readings are about you and the people around you.  They are about today and the days around it. So, go ahead and pick the sentences you feel are yours and decide whether to encourage or reject them for yourself.

Did you come here for your predictions? – You are done now – See you tomorrow. The family of commenters here would love for you to join in (the very last thing, at the bottom).

Now, Part Two,

Do you want to know a little, or a lot, about how this Tarot Verbatim™ thing works? If so,

*Go to Learn Tarot by Observing section below. This tells about the combined three pictures in the Tarot Readings – the pictures above here.  It explains how these three cards get together in your mind to make the messages. HERE ARE PHRASES FOR ALL THREE 2-CARD COMBINATIONS is a stream-of-consciousness bridge to your subconscious if you use it regularly – people report.

*Go to Learn Tarot by Pictures.  It is what each of the three cards, by itself, has to say.  It shows you how that illustration makes that card’s meanings in today’s Spread. All the words of each Tarot card reading you see here are a phrase-by-phrase translation of the scene pictured on those cards: no filler, no psychic impressions, no spirit guide. Word-for-word Tarot Verbatim™.

You can put all this together and intuitively see yourself how Tarot Verbatim™ works.

This is a group reading, with no Questioner and no Question to limit what the cards say, so there’s more variety – even contradictions – and also the pronouns are more flexible. If it feels like it’s yours, and it says ‘he,’ and you’re a ‘she,’ feel free to adopt it anyway.

. ………………….………………….

Hermit – Judgment – Ace of Cups

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

.

……….……………………   Here in Hermit we have looking objectively at the practical facts and being on a sensible and private sane life path that includes being of help to fellow travelers; we have change and revelation and recovery in Judgment; we have ‘It’s all good’ in Ace of Cups – good health, getting along, going with the flow.

……….…………………… Each of these three Rider Waite Tarot cards in Tarot Verbatim™ has several trunks of meanings. First I saw the physician (healer) in Hermit and healing and good health in Ace of Cups. Then I saw ‘a new easy way’ in Ace of Cups and Judgment, and then ‘shows me the easy way’ in Hermit and Ace of Cups. Then ‘tells the truth’ flashed out in Hermit and Judgment. It was then that I saw ‘God’s word’ or ‘God talks’ in Judgment and Ace of Cups. That’s when I realized all three of these cards in Tarot Verbatim™ are spiritual/religious ones. Judgment is enlightenment and Hermit is both seeking (as a religious person and otherwise) and is helping others, and is ‘demonstrating to’ or guiding others. Then the verdict (Judgment) of innocent (Ace of Cups) popped up.

Prolific, that’s what these three are!

So prolific that I am going to give their meanings, categorized, here, and just copy them in the ‘Learn by Pictures.’ So if you read through this you don’t have to go there.

…………….…………..    Hermits illustration is of a service monk out on the road in winter night with a light to guide travelers to bed-and-breakfast at the monastery. Lots of material for phrases here:

Seeking, searching, search party

looking, watching, observing or observation, witness

investigation, investigating, investigator, surveillance, looking into

helping, watching out for,

friend, friend helps, supportive, caretaker, cares

good person, honest, humble and humility, sincere, low key person

guide (hence guidance, hence counselor)

Being on the road, trip, walk, on the Path, night travel, at night, road trip, comes to

old person or old man, mature, senior, sober

light (even a flashlight)

doctor, healer, medic or counselor,

wise, wisdom, enlightenment, understanding, analytical approach, the truth

pragmatic, practical and objective, person who knows, sober

celibate or monogamous, single or asexual, no sexual component, solitary, private person

religious person, and obviously a monk or a ‘religious,’ which would include nuns and priests of organized religions.

…………….…………..      Judgment too makes quite a few phrases due to the elements of its illustration.

Once in a while, it even says ‘honked off.’ And of course it can also address horn music or horn players.

…………….…………..    Ace of Cupshas some major divisions of phrases too. The illustration depicts from a Roman Catholic perspective Holy Spirit infusing the five senses of a human and flowing from there into mass consciousness (the ocean). The dove represents Holy Spirit, who is putting the wafer of the holy communion ritual into the flow of the five bodily humors (Middle Ages) or five senses (modern idea). Meanings that arise from this illustration are:

Presence of God, God, holy, holiness, innocence, all-benefit-no-harm

good and goodness, and ‘in good shape,’ innocent, flourishing

health, healing, feeling good

love, unconditional love, acceptance, cooperation, loved one and lover, fall in love, enjoying, liking, mellow feeling, getting along with

flow, going with the flow, cooperation, get with the program, easygoing, circulation, circuit

easy and easily, without trying, no effort, ease up, life of ease, relax,

accept, acceptance, agree and agreeing

peace, peaceful and other synonyms

………………..……….     Judgment and Ace of Cups  Both Judgment and Ace of Cups involve water. Ace of Cups is a flow of water or liquid, which can be anything from a leak to a river, from rain to circulation or blood loss, or other secretions, in a body. Ace of Cups is also a flow (of anything), including electricity or wind currents. Judgment simply shows a large body of water, presumably an ocean.

………..……….……….   Hermit and Ace of Cups  Hermit and Ace of Cups say ‘seeking God’ or ‘spiritual devotee.’ Hermit is seeking and Ace of Cups is God. These are main meanings of each. Hermit is looking for people who are lost on the road, so these two could say ‘seeking the lost’ in the Christian sense. With Ace of Cups being a flow of water, these two could refer to a pilgrimage to water (Ace of Cups makes that holy water or healing water, or both). They also mean looking for a leak, which of course is a flow of water.

………………..……….    Judgment and Ace of Cups  Judgment and Ace of Cups clearly have some religious meanings, with the angel of Judgment Day being the theme of the former, and Ace of Cups meaning God, spiritual, holy and holiness. Judgment is a ‘talk’ card, so these two are what people say about God, or God saying something, which also translates ‘God’s word.’ Judgment is recovery and new life, and Ace of Cups is good health, so they can mean a healing that brings a body back to good health. Judgment can mean any word – like another and again – and Ace of Cups can be any sort of flow of liquid, or any leak … so ‘another leak.’ Well, they are also ‘good news’ because Judgment is news and Ace of Cups means ‘good’ in any manner.

Nine of Swords

Hermit – Page of Wands – Judgment

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

.

Two of these Rider Waite citizens refer to speaking or an announcement – Page of Wands and Judgment.  And they each also mean a good person. Page of Wands is to speak or tell, simply.  Judgment means a formal announcement, speak loudly, news, to sound an alarm. Judgment is “Now Hear This.”

(Page of Wands also means young, good-looking or handsome, well-dressed, a good-guy or good reputation and to ‘speak up’ or ‘stand up,’ as well as name or identity.)

(Judgment also means change, to return to a former state or condition, new life, realization, wakes up, to appear unexpectedly (pop up), discover, sudden, to go back to, and “re” words: resume, recover, restore.)

100 sentences could be written in a jiffy here. This is a good spread for learners of Tarot.  Here are some examples of common phrases and concepts from two-card combinations contained in this spread (and these are just a few):

Hermit is old and wise, Page of Wands is young and immature:  “his friend who is older and wiser.” Hermit is wise and Page of Wands is words:  words of wisdom. Hermit is a friend who helps and Page of Wands is tells; so this is about a wise friend talks to you, or you tell your wise friend something.  (Since Page of Wands is self and one’s image, the conversation could be personal, could be about one’s appearance.) Combine these two as the same person, and you have a handsome old man!

Page of Wands and Nine of Swords is talk about what troubles you, talk about a bad dream, awaking to talking in your sleep, a scared young man, and scared to talk about it.

Judgment is change and Nine of Swords is something to worry about or that is scary (so ‘afraid of change’ or a scary change).  Judgment is news and Nine of Swords is scary (really bad news announcement). Judgment means recover and Nine of Swords is stress or insomnia (recover from stress or insomnia). Judgment is to wake up, and Nine of Swords is a bad dream. (I could go on!)

Our Daily Spread for November 9, 2011 Wednesday ©

Advice      When we are told a truth,  or when the news is scary,  we get upset;  but we also calm down … or are calmed down by a caring friend … and we look for ways to change our situation,  or to change ourselves.  An older friend tells him something about himself that upsets him.  A handsome young man who is celibate realizes this is getting on his last nerve.  The good-looking fellow comes to you;  he is back and you are nervous.

…….. …....…..

Nine of Swords

Hermit  – Page of Wands  –  Judgment

Is this the first time you come here?   Well … what to do:

*Go to Advice above which is a summary of the Messages.  (Advice is everyone’s favorite part.)

*Go to Daily Message Tarot Analysis below.  One or more of those sentences has something to say to you.  Intuitively pick those out.  They are about you and the people around you.  They are about today and the days around it.  (It  is a group message like a horoscope,  except Tarot isn’t based on someone else’s birth data,  so it can be specific,  accurate,  detailed and direct.  Our experiment here is  “How much more accurate is it?”)

Did you come here for your predictions?  –  You are done now  – See you tomorrow.

Without a question to focus the answer,  four cards can mean contradictory things especially when the Spread has a card that negates other cards.  Without a question also the pronouns in a group reading are more flexible,  especially in some of these Rider Waite Tarot spreads.  When a pronoun is in parentheses,  feel very free to substitute.  The question in a  ‘real’  individual reading supplies at least half the information!
