Hermit – The details of this illustration make Hermit’s meanings. You see an elderly monk out on a cold mountain road with a light, looking for people he can bring to his home for a good meal and good company (himself at least).

The monk is old and wise – is ‘someone who knows.’ He is an adviser (counselor). He is a doctor too. He comes to people, and is their friend in a kind way. With his light, he looks for people, sees them, and guides them home.

In real Tarot practice, Hermit is the objective view, the truth, the facts. He is even a witness (one who sees). Hermit is the card for surveillance and investigation as well. It just is.

Hermit is ‘on the Path’ as a service monk who is dedicated to serving others. ‘Devoted’ is one of Hermit’s words, especially in a romance question.

Page of Wands – You can see: He’s a real-world physical guy – a good guy, a young man, and a handsome man, Page of Wands. Well-dressed and well-spoken. Page of Wands is a leading speak/tell/say theme card in Tarot Verbatim™. As a Page, he is an apprentice, a young man intent on fitting into his social scene smoothly, being accepted, pleasing to his social circle.

Page of Wands is also an identity card, along with Page of Pentacles. He translates: I, myself, the one who, type of person. Hermit We see him as he goes out seeking travelers who could use the help of the monastery on this cold night. Hermit is looking for, seeking, showing or demonstrating the way, helping and being a friend, coming to another person. ‘With a little help from my friends’ is Hermit. Star Star is feeling good and telling all about it – singing in the shower. It is also ‘spilling your guts,’ confessing, explaining all about it. We see a woman performing a ceremonial bath (ablution) as she sings and pours two vessels’ contents into the little pond. She can refer to a beautiful woman, but that is a minor part of Star. Expression is her focus: performance.

Page of Wands His main meanings are looking good (handsome young man) and talking up. He is in good shape, and this card refers to physical body and physical consciousness. He speaks up, is proud to be what he is. He means to speak, to tell, to say, as well as to stand for something.

Each and every ‘Tarot Reading’ sentence you see is a literal interpretation of the four Rider Waite Tarot cards drawn and pictured for today. (The literal interpretation is from the illustration on each card.) These sentences are put together by only combining the phrases of what each cards says. In other words, there are NO “filler” phrases added just to make full sentences, and no psychic ability or spirit guide is ever involved.

Now in an ‘real’ individual reading, the questioner asks a specific question and thereby supplies at least half the information! In a personal reading, the parties are identified and sometimes a time frame is too. Here, in a group reading we cannot do that and so we get a variety of sentences.


Horoscopes are group readings, too. Astrology is based on someone else’s birth data, though, so a ‘solar’ group horoscope never really solidly applies to you! (Astrologers want you to know this!)


Tarot, on the other hand, is perfectly capable of flexibly addressing any group, including all of the visitors that come to this site. It can also address people you might not even know personally, such as all the people at your job who have a say in whether or not you get a raise.
