Justice – Justice means legal, and justice means the people who operate the justice systems (like lawyers, judges, jurors, regulators, police, and more). But it means that in kind of a vacuum. Without another card’s contribution, Justice doesn’t say ‘legally binding’ or ‘legal agreement.’ Justice makes a marriage card say ‘legal marriage,’ for instance, but doesn’t mean that by itself. (It just gives you a whiff of marriage.) Justice naturally also means anything about lawsuits and legal proceedings.

The common application for Justice is words like these: should, deserve, entitled, fair, right, proper, sober, normal, sane (realistic, sensible), straight and straighten out, supposed to, okay, rules, and phrases like ‘even keel’ that mean balance.
Three of Pentacles – Pictured is an architect or general contractor demonstrating to his clients that he has finished their building per the blueprint and is entitled to be paid. Each of the elements of this story contributes meanings to Three of Pentacles. Today Three of Pentacles concentrates on its legal meanings because it is blending with Justice. Three of Pentacles with Justice gives both these cards a broader dimension. Three of Pentacles most frequently translates relationship, deal, meeting, agreement, negotiation, mutual, transaction, payoff, profitable, settling up or settlement, each party doing his part, real estate sale or deal, three people together for a single purpose. When you add Justice, you reinterpret these meanings, possibly, to put them into a lawsuit, a police matter, a hearing in court, or people meeting to straighten something out.

Sun – Sun’s story involves getting free of, getting out from under some restriction, leaving home, being happy or having fun or enjoying. The tyke has gotten himself free of the house rules by leaving the house for some very reckless adventure of his own. So Sun also means all sorts of callous, reckless, impulsive, uninhibited, spontaneous – even irresponsible – behavior. This is how Sun means ‘playboy’ and ‘brat.’

And also, with Justice, Sun speaks of a child legally leaving a home. Sun’s basic meaning, as you can see from the picture, is ‘child’ and its synonyms, such as ‘youngster.’ Sun is a baby too, especially when that is the subject of the Tarot inquiry. Today, for instance, we have a group of people (Three of Pentacles) who feel they deserve a baby – which most likely would be relatives or wannabe grandparents.

But Justice and Three of Pentacles take the lead in our stories. Both are strong legal cards. Both are about fairness. Three of Pentacles is each party doing his or her part fair and square … and Justice means ‘fair.’ Three of Pentacles is negotiation, agreement, settlement, and people meeting for a purpose; Justice makes that a court hearing, a settlement in court, negotiating as part of a lawsuit, and ‘legally binding agreement‘ or ‘legally binding contract.’ Note that Justice can be a court hearing, and Three of Pentacles can be a court hearing, but together this meaning is emphasized, so that the subject of the sentence is very likely to be legal – more likely than if either of these cards appeared singly.
