This card is one of those added in the Middle Ages in Europe to mollify the Catholic Church from killing the deck’s users as heretics. Temperance is intimacy, intimate partner, mutual deal or dealing, reciprocating, closeness in any sense including standing next to. It applies equally in romance and social matters and business, as Three of Pentacles does.

………..……….………. Six of Cups and Temperance are similar cards in Tarot Verbatim™. Both are about closeness and intimacy and trust. Both are about an exchange. In Six of Cups, the exchange is a gift, and in Temperance it is a reciprocal deal, often commercial in nature. Six of Cups is overtly and primarily a warm-fuzzy card in Tarot Verbatim™, and Temperance is at least close and/or intimate, but not necessarily so sweet.

Today we consider a heart-throb kind of man – the handsome and charismatic fellow who at least has a good job, and who has some influence that counts – and a relationship in which the husband (or boyfriend) is the leader, the one who calls the shots, the one who has the say, the boss. Four Card Spreads, Our Daily Spread

HOW TO USE THE MATERIAL WE HAVE FOR YOU HERE. Read the sentences, and pick out the ones that seem to apply to you, to the people around you. They are a Tarot analysis of your day’s circumstances. As the day (or several days) unfolds, you may find the information is relevant. The question is: “Tell the visitors here something useful and meaningful to them.” Often, your adopting the attitude you feel in the blog works for your day!

Without a question to focus the answer, four cards can mean even contradictory things. Without a question also the pronouns in a group reading are less specific, more flexible, especially in some of these Rider Waite Tarot spreads. Especially when a pronoun is in parentheses, feel free to substitute.

The Advice section sums up a general meaning of all the sentences.

Fool – Temperance – Eight of Wands

A summary of what Tarot is saying today:

Both Temperance and Eight of Wands are about conversation, communication. Temperance also brings ‘intimate’ and ‘close’ to that; and Eight of Wands brings ‘quickly’ and ‘many’ and ‘more and more’ to the party. The top card is the sexy, charismatic, manipulative studly dude who is influential and powerful. (Now, the fella who always wins at pool is powerful and influential in that pool hall.)

Introducing those three Rider Waite Tarot cards is the Fool, who today is lighthearted, casual, doesn’t know or ‘who knows?’ or ‘has no idea’; who isn’t present; who is young; who assumes. He ‘acts as if’ and also means ‘as if.’

Advice is to be egalitarian with powerful influential men, to be casual and have lighthearted conversation with ‘your betters’ as if you were familiar and equal. We speak also of how quickly a manipulative fellow can get on familiar terms with you, before you know it, through conversation. We go on to point out it’s that way in business too: The mogul has everybody on his side, talking to him without thinking about it.

Business Perspective:
The powerful man isn’t present to be talked one-on-one with.
Talk with the powers-that-be as if they were your equals.
Assume the man in charge communicates about these things.

Meanings and Illustrations:

Fool is lighthearted, casual, doesn’t know or ‘who knows?’ or ‘has no idea’; who isn’t present; who is young; who assumes. He ‘acts as if’ and also means ‘as if.’ His illustration is a fellow with a tiny bit of luggage on a mid-afternoon journey, about to take his doggie off a cliff with himself, he is such an optimist. I have known people like this, haven’t you?

Temperance is about intimate contact, transactions, communication, close association. Illustration is on the vague side for the meanings we are using there today. Illustration is about a ‘one hand washes the other’ concept of pouring water from one hand to the other. This is a bastard Rider Waite Tarot card We could do without it. In the Middle Ages, it was added to make the Tarot deck more acceptable. It meant to dilute wine with water to keep from having the wine make one feel good. Yes, those sorts of folks existed back then too!

Eight of Wands is a the Rider Waite Tarot citizen that brings phrases such as ‘quickly’ and ‘many’ and ‘more and more’ to the party. Illustration shows sticks flying in the wind one after the other quickly.

King of Pentacles is a sexy, charismatic, manipulative studly dude who is influential and powerful, who is the VIP. This is the powerful man, the powers that be, the man in charge, the banker, politician, the rich fellow, the broker, the broker or the one in control. He is the mover and shaker, the Great Man, the Studmuffin. He is pictured Italianesque.
