……………………… Definitely talking about love and friendship here: Knight of Cups is the warm puppy, the good friend, the boyfriend, and someone who can sell you anything – the likable persuader. Star is
‘spilling your guts,’ feeling good all over, loving feeling, confessing love – talking (blabbing or blurting out, or even the sales pitch) – being the cheerleader or someone getting cheered up, being enthusiastic, saying ‘I love you.’ Both Star and Knight of Cups are talkers and salespersons. Then comes Five of Cups: loss, mourning, regretting, feeling guilty or feeling like a loser (or being guilty or being a loser). So we are about mourning the loss of a friend or lover, about cheering up someone who is sad, about telling a friend anything, and even about getting talked into something you regret.
…………………………..Five of Cups is failure and feeling awful, and is most often regret, shame, being sorry, being or feeling guilty, loss (including bankruptcy), waste, drinking too much or quitting alcohol, wishing to God you had or had not, looking back in despair. Five of Cups is the disappointment, money loser, the downside, the tragedy, being heartsick and homesick. It almost always refers to the past, which is expressed by the figure looking back at the spilled wine, with his back to the full vessels.
Five of Cups is not always a social or emotional application: It can be a bookkeeping loss, a lost article, and even a loss of body fluids (the spilled liquid on the ground). Once in a while, in certain inquiries, Five of Cups’ appearance is simply an indication that this is the past – such as in a question ‘Is this someone I know already?’
………………………….. Knight of Cups is one of the warm-fuzzy cards by its artwork – like Six of Cups: pastels, the relaxed curved lines, the expressions. Knight of Cups has the wings of Mercury (the messenger, the communicator) on his helmet, so he is the friendly persuader – the salesman, the person who talks you into something. He extends the cup of love or friendship. He likes you, and he is likable. His horse … horsey … has an ‘Aw shucks’ look (shyness?) as he curves his neck and looks a little away. The subject of Knight of Cups’ affection (and/or acceptance) is out of the picture, so it relates to whatever your question is.
Knight of Cups is the main boyfriend card, and it means ‘buddy’ and ‘best friend’ and ‘person who accepts you’ too. This ‘accepts you’ is amplified by Star’s enthusiasm. The ‘accepts’ extends to accepting a suggestion. Knight of Cups is famous for making suggestions and offers too.
Knight of Cups offers that cup: He is the one who makes the first move, the person who puts his hand out first and introduces himself. (Hermit also ‘comes to you.’) Knight of Cups in a romance spread indicates the future boyfriend will come to you and introduce himself (You don’t have to look.) or the present boyfriend will approach you (make up, maybe).
In legal questions, Knight of Cups is the petitioner, the plaintiff, the movant (one who presents the motion), and is an offer or its acceptance, depending on the rest of the story.
………………………….. Star tells all. Star feels good. Star is wildly enthused about something or someone. Crazy about you, or you are crazy about someone or something. Star doesn’t just accept – it broadcasts and publicizes. Star is a missionary for a cause, or is on the soapbox. Star can also be wildly enthused about nothing in particular – just idiopathic rah-rah attitude … the cheerleader. Star has such good things to say … or blurt out. Star is spilling your guts. Star is making promises. Well, Star can be bullshitting too. Star is a sales presentation. Star is convincing someone. And Star is someone who will not shut up. And Star is blurting out something, especially blurting out ‘I love you.’
Lastly, Star can be a singer, musician, or performer. The illustration shows a performer in a ceremonial bath, singing while she pours two pitchers into the pond she bathes in. Star should, therefore, refer to rituals, but I have not found that to be so.
The more you love, and the more you believe, the worse you feel when the promise isn’t delivered. We get jaded and promise ourselves we will never again be sold on – sold on a person, sold on a thing, sold on an idea like The One. Then we go and do it anyway, so our history is rife with both enthusiasms and disappointments. Confessions of love are like sales pitches, we say. A good friend cheers you up when you feel this way, and you do the same for your friends.

Five of Cups……….. Five of Cups is one of the simple obvious Tarot cards, but it produces a surprising number of phrases, and it applies in different ways. Nuances to Five of Cups. Brokenness is a good title to Five of Cups. A black-robed figure (Once in a while, for that reason, it will be The Judge.) stares at wine spilled on the ground, ‘neath a gray sky, his back to the filled cups of wine. Is that a bridge the river’s water is flowing under there? Five of Cups is a loss, being the loser, failure and fail, being broke, the sad past, depression, bad times and bad scenes, the doldrums, to repent, regret, being sorry, mourning and not seeing the future because of the effect or haze of the past: being haunted, being heartsick. It means sadness and disappointment. Five of Cups can be a reminder you are engrossed in things past.
Five of Cups can be sickness, depression, bankruptcy, alcoholism and also giving up liquor (His back is to the filled vessels of alcohol.) Something has cost you dearly, here, and you’re not over it yet. Five of Cups can indicate a loss of bodily fluids, or rupture of a blood vessel or organ, because of the liquid spilled.

He is famous for putting his hand out first, for initiating friendship, love, and business offers – as well as being famous for accepting all of those offers.

Star…………Star is vibrant health; Star is talk; Star is feeling good; and Star is a performance or presentation that is oral/verbal, because Star is mainly telling, publicizing, promoting, promising, praising, confessing love, blabbing (tattling, squealing). Star belongs to musicians’ performances – especially singers, because Star is singing in the performance of a ceremonial bath. Think of Star as singing in the shower, and you got its upbeat tone. Queen of Pentacles and Knight of Cups Three of our four Rider Waite Tarot citizens today are about giving and/or receiving. Queen of Pentacles is the generous woman who cares for her man and his money, or who supports him. Knight of Cups helps, gives or accepts, and is affectionate. So we have a guy card and a girl card who each involve giving love and giving money. The exchange of affection and love flows both ways.
The exchange of affection and love flows both ways. Look how this is expressed by Rider Waite Tarot: Both Queen of Pentacles and Knight of Cups are persons who do for others, who take care; Star is saying ‘I love you’ openly, profusely and publicly.
Ace of Pentacles is to give or receive in a big way, including a large sum of money. It also means: success, successful, perfect, right, right way.

These four Rider Waite Tarot citizens have a lot to say in this foursome, in a lot of different applications – a contract, a funeral, a criminal court proceeding, a love relationship – and more.
Both Three of Pentacles and Knight of Cups are about agreement. Knight of Cups means both offer and acceptance, and Three of Pentacles is a contract as well as a meeting. With Knight of Cups being the friendly guy, we also have a get-together of friends, and a good indication the meeting of friends is amicable (that everyone is on the same page, agreeing).
This theme of mutual agreement is amplified by Star’s meaning of enthusiastic feeling, and also of good feeling and good things to say.
There’s discussion in Three of Pentacles and there’s talk in Star. You could also say the good feeling in Star echoes the friendly initiative in Knight of Cups. You can see how these things mesh.
Then there’s Eight of Swords, the party pooper. What does make a splash in this foursome is the contract, agreement, meeting, deal or legal proceedings in Three of Pentacles, there in the middle, with Knight of Cups to the right meaning offer and Eight of Swords to the left meaning ‘limited.’ A limited offer in a contract. Eight of Swords also means ‘impossible’ to Knight of Cups ‘offer to do.’ Putting Eight of Swords adjacent to Three of Pentacles says ‘can’t come to agreement’ and ‘impossible to have a relationship’ and even ‘can’t deal with’ or ‘can’t get along with.’

Eight of Swords can’t: Itis limitation or limited, impossible, impediments, stuck, and death. “My hands are tied” and “I can’t.” (This is the lead death card in Tarot Verbatim™.) The illustration in Rider Waite shows a woman blindfolded and tied sloppily, surrounded by swords and far from her castle, in a swamp. She is slumped, head down, obviously feeling helpless and defeated and ‘unable.’
Three of Pentacles is the final inspection and settlement an architect is meeting with his clients about. He is demonstrating he followed the blueprints in the hands of his clients. So it is about contract, things legal, settlement, meeting, deal, agreement, business.
Knight of Cups is a friend, a boyfriend, the one who makes an offer, or the offer itself. It also means to be cooperative and accept. His illustration in Rider Waite Tarot is a warm friendly looking fellow on a cute pony who is standing and lifting its feet up like horses do. Soft colors, curved lines: nice expression of the idea. Mercury’s wings on his helmet speak of communication.
Star is singing in the shower, about feeling good and performing well, and singing or talking, even spilling your guts. It is praise for another person, and it is expressing love for another. It is very rah-rah, very enthusiastic. It expresses good health, too. The bather is pouring some stuff in the pond. Sometimes it simply means to talk.

Star is to be crazy about, to be in love, to spill the guts and declare love. Giving advice (Knight of Cups + Star) that makes money (Ace of Pentacles, and the woman with money in her possession, Queen of Pentacles) is a theme too. MEANINGS AND ILLUSTRATIONS: OBSERVATION OF THE SPREAD
There are three ultra romantic Tarot messengers out of four, all of whom mean to express love, so the Two of Swords, which is a negator, is not going to get very far. It is outnumbered, outweighed, outshouted. Many more similar messages to the ones we have here, but they don’t add anything.
Knight of Cups is the Boyfriend, the agreeable or romantic lover, the one who does call, does take initiative to show affection. He is considered a young man in Tarot. Six of Cups is also young (even children), and Six of Cups is also sweet and romantic, also means the fellow takes initiative to express his love. These two bounce off of each other.
Then the Star card sends those two overboard. It means to confess love, to be crazy about or wildly enthusiastic about, and to say so.
So you can see that naysayer Two of Swords is a nitpicker today.
MEANINGS AND ILLUSTRATIONS: INDIVIDUAL RIDER WAITE TAROT CARDS
Knight of Cups is the boyfriend. He is the affectionate man, the one who calls, the one who expresses, the one who takes the initiative and makes the first move, sweetly. This is Prince Charming, appropriately pictured in pastel tones and curved lines, and offering the cup of friendship with outstretched hand.
Star is feeling good all over, being enthusiastic, confessing love, talking a lot (even babbling), and being crazy about someone (or something). The feeling of singing in the shower is here in the illustration, which shows a female taking a bath.
Two of Swords, what are you doing here? You can’t stop this train. Stopping something is what Two of Swords does; she is the roadblock, the balance of forces that creates a stalemate. Stalemate is not the kind of mating we are talking about here, Two of Swords.
Six of Cups is a sweet kid, a naïve person, romantic life, child or children, sweet love. It is the past as well. Little boy gives little girl flowers in the name you have for this card in the back of your mind. Its illustration is cute and antiquey.

Four Card Spreads, Our Daily Spread
HOW TO USE THE MATERIAL WE HAVE FOR YOU HERE. Read the sentences, and pick out the ones that seem to apply to you, to the people around you. They are a Tarot analysis of your day’s circumstances. As the day (or several days) unfolds, you may find the information is relevant. The question is: “Tell the visitors here something useful and meaningful to them.” Often, your adopting the attitude you feel in the blog works for your day!
Without a question to focus the answer, four cards can mean even contradictory things. Without a question also the pronouns in a group reading are less specific, more flexible, especially in some of these Rider Waite Tarot spreads. Especially when a pronoun is in parentheses, feel free to substitute.
The Advice section sums up a general meaning of all the sentences.
Here’s another spoiler configuration. Two of Swords, the road block, “No way!” is the party-pooper today. As party-poopers go, not so bad. Especially when we have not one but two “I love you” cards, Knight of Cups and Star. Both mean to express love. Knight of Cups means the dude takes the romantic initiative, and Star means to be wildly enthusiastic, to adore gushingly.
The remaining Rider Waite Tarot card is familiar. It shows up here often. Three of Wands means coming, ships coming in, cash flow. It is about the future and about continuity, ‘continues.’
You just have to watch where you out that ‘not.’ Otherwise, it’s paradise for the lovers.

Meanings and Illustrations:
Three of Wands: Everything is gonna be all right. Your ships are coming in … see them? Money is on its way to you, but, yes, you will be waiting. Illustration is simple, it shows ships coming in and the merchant standing there to receive them when they get there. But the artist, and the company that makes the cards, never got around to coloring the water blue … it’s yellow, but it’s supposed to be water.
Knight of Cups: For he’s a jolly good fellow. He is. He is the troubadour, the romantic boyfriend who takes the initiative in expressing affection. His horse is a horsey, and he is relaxed as he offers the cup of friendship/love. He gives as well as accepts friendship, love and agreement. This fellow cuddles. He is young at heart and cute. He is a Great Pyrenees.
Star: We gush adoration, we pour our guts out, we feel good all over. The cheerleader. She pours something into the bath pool. Bet it smells good.
Two of Swords: It doesn’t go any farther. Nope. In the end, ____. Impasse. A blindfolded female sits on a bench, arms crossed, with two heavy swords in them.
YOUR TAROT ANALYSIS:
In the end, he is going to come to her and declare his love.
He does not continue with it because he falls wildly in love.
He is in love but he isn’t going to be over the top (ostentatious) about it.
There’s no explanation for his still being the warm puppy.
He isn’t young and cute but oh, how he is going to love you.
Don’t let yourself gush about how cute he is going to be.
He tells you politely that it is not going to be happening.
There is no way he can be that enthusiastic, but he does accept it.
There will be a lot of talk but the suggestion isn’t accepted.
The motion will be tabled after some discussion.
The presentation will not be that long-winded.
He isn’t going to explain the suggestion.
He does not say that he will be happy with that salary.
He isn’t going to talk like the softie he is.
There are no words to express what a sweet guy he will be.
He accepts when he is told that is not happening.
