Lovers – Three of Swords – Ten of Cups
Guidance |
He is going to be happily married in his next one because of this one. In a cold world, the people who do get along together stick together in an underground network of goodwill. I loved and lost before I found a home, but, hey, everybody’s got lovers’ quarrels who’s got a lover. So a world of hurt history is what is making us happy together today.

WHERE EACH PHRASE COMES FROM At a glance, with a color for each card, your subconscious picks up on how the sentences of GROUP TAROT CARDS READING came to be. You feel how individual card meanings reach out and blend, unite, into a sentence. (You can learn this – yes, you!) Your subconscious awareness sees the image and its feeling and your conscious awareness sees the language meaning, the text… so your two minds focus together to see 3D, three dimensionally, the same way your two eyes see depth that one eye does not.
PHRASES FOR ALL THREE TWO CARD COMBINATIONS Are you ready for the final step of this revolutionary Tarot Verbatim™ technique? Now to make it exceedingly plain and simple, we list the expressions each pair of cards makes. We list them in paragraph form rather than itemized so that they flow, and your subconscious clicks into place and ‘gets it.’ You may even find flashes of dreams or intuitive realities as you read these, at times.
The Rider Waite Tarot™ deck is a data bank in mass consciousness that your subconscious can communicate with. Tarot Verbatim™ is the Rosetta Stone that makes that communication easy because it is a bridge between conscious and subconscious thought. When both your levels of awareness focus together, you think intuitively in real time in ‘the real world.’
Bon voyage!

Synopsis |
You become friends with someone, or you marry someone, and that makes you ‘on the outs’ with people who don’t get along with that person, and that makes you ‘in the incrowd’ with people who do get along with him or her. Us versus them lives in the mammal heart. Trying to make friends against those lines-in-the-sand is all uphill for most people. A few of us, though – maybe the new breed of human? – have the gift of not giving a damn, and making friends and non-friends as they alone see fit. Other people move over for these mavericks, who are seldom all-the-way in and seldom all-the-way out of the groups and subgroups in the human herd.

Lovers
Lovers today is literally a love relationship, lovers, being together, partners, us, them, being on the same side, contact, and other such things. Lovers is ‘us,’ a couple, attachment, siding with, even propinquity (meaning physically in the same place). It means ‘connection’ as a word – all the applications, even the mechanical ones … like stapled together or paper-clipped.
The illustration shows a couple all right – Adam and Eve with their storied trees. Other parts of the illustration are about some meanings of Lovers that we did not take out of the box today. Let it be.
Three of Swords
You feel the pain looking at this drawing. A world of hurt, and a cold cruel world. It has some fairly innocent meanings, like a storm, surgery and cutting something, but when it comes to its relationship meanings, this is one of the divorce cards; it means separation, ill will, and hostilities from quarreling or being against something to all-out war. It’s about heart attack, stroke or other heart trouble – on other days, not today.
Three of Swords is heartache, ruin, feud, hate or dislike, adverse or hostile atmosphere, friction, bad times, resentment, factions in a fight, etc.
Ten of Cups
Mama-Bear, Papa-Bear, and two baby bears admire their country club home with the rainbow over it. Ten of Cups is ‘happily ever after,’ speaking of stories. Ten of Cups is a circle of people who have something good in common. It’s well-adjusted people who have a good life (prosperity) too. It’s settling down – married with children. It’s being welcome in a place, and it’s a reunion or gathering. Today Ten of Cups is marriage, friends, family or relatives. (Other days, it’s community.) Like Lovers, Ten of Cups means: us, them, people Yes, that leaves out a few chapters of meanings – same as the other cards are doing today. Ten of Cups can simply mean being happy or happiness too.
Now Without The Pictures |
Love, marriage and divorce: We have love stories.
Not just divorce, of course; Three of Swords is heartache, hurt, ruin, quarrel or feud, hate or dislike, being against, adverse or hostile atmosphere, friction, bad times, resentment, a cold cruel world, factions in a fight, etc. We aren’t using Three of Swords’ non-relationship meanings because today all three of these neighboring Rider Waite Tarot cards are about love stories.
Lovers is ‘us,’ a couple, partners, together, attachment, siding with, even propinquity (meaning physically in the same place). Again, it has lots of other applications, but we are not telling those stories today. Today both Lovers and Ten of Cups can translate ‘spouse’ because of each other’s presence.
Ten of Cups is ‘happily ever after,’ speaking of stories. Ten of Cups is a circle of people who have something in common. Today it’s marriage, friends, family, relatives. (Other days, it’s community.) Yes, that leaves out a few chapters of meanings – same as the other cards are doing today. Ten of Cups can simply mean being happy or happiness too.
Here are some common phrases these relationship cards make today. Lovers and Three of Swords are hurting the one you love, a couple splitting up, us being against something, or ‘against us,’ the cold cruel world we are in, adverse circumstances for them or us, love and hate, ruin a relationship, loving a mean person.
Lovers and Three of Swords are, of course, lovers breaking up, lovers’ quarrels, hostile feelings one-on-one. Other applications for Lovers and Three of Swords are being against love relationship, heartache in a close connection, hurting the one you love or being hurt by the one you love, a stormy atmosphere or a hostile reception to you two being lovers. These even say ‘love and hate.’ But Lovers is ‘being on a side,’ so Lovers and Three of Swords are also, kind of, ‘us against the cold world’ situations.
Three of Swords, as the divorce card, today, since we have BOTH lovers and spouses in our story, applies only to Ten of Cups, the marriage card. (You get a feel for these things, don’t worry yourself about the fine distinctions like that.)
Lovers and Ten of Cups is love and marriage, marrying the one you love, loving the one you are married to, people who love one another, people who connect and have something in common, marrying for love, having your spouse side with you, and being happy to be together – because Lovers means together. Lovers and Ten of Cups is ‘We all love one another’ and ‘we are one big happy family with them,’ ‘them’ being two people, Lovers – so that could be about a couple getting along with the extended family, see?
Three of Swords and Ten of Cups is a clear divorce in a marriage, but of course it means many other things. It means ‘all of us are against,’ and it means ‘a bunch of mean people, but it also means ‘get along with people who don’t like me,’ and being happy in bad times, being together in good times and bad, and everybody has suffered in love. Family members breaking your heart is another snapshot you see in Three of Swords and Ten of Cups.
So you see we have stories, lots of stories, today.
