Four Card Spreads, Guidance, Tarot Verbatim
Today is about roles we and others play. It’s about appearances. Sometimes we ‘get with the program’ to be a team player and ‘I do my part as we all see it.’ We don’t think of that as playing a role, but it is: There is some artifice to our actions. ‘All the world’s a stage,’ Shakespeare wrote. There’s a spectrum to our being the actor in the mutual play, and the dark end of that spectrum is of course playing the role and fitting in, having an agenda that does not benefit the other players, or even having a scheme to take advantage or harm them.
So we have both “I did it again; I got in the groove of being a sweet affectionate boyfriend” and “Your buddy is doing the routine to get you to go along with his scheme again.”

Judgment The angel who wakes the dead on Judgment Day gives rise to several unrelated meanings. Today we use only a few. Judgment’s emphasis today is coming back or doing it again, or going back to the way things used to be. Judgment too is about starting a new phase or life. It often translates ‘again.’

Magician He is doing his job of bringing an event from ‘up there’ ‘down here.’ He wears the eternity-sign as a halo, raises his magic want up, points down. Esoterically, he represents the male principle. Meanings for Magician are simple: Magician’s main meaning is ‘male who does,’ in any form and in any context. Magician also means ‘to initiate’ or start something. It means ‘act’ and refers to action.

Six of Wands There’s a scene of a victory at a battle in which the king was kidnapped into captivity so the next-in-line fellow could take over the throne, so it isn’t really the victory it seems. Six of Wands is about appearances. Its core meaning is performing a role. That can apply to doing your part as agreed, fair and square, in what’s going on with other people (being a team player), and it could mean pretending to be ‘one of them’ whilst working against them. As a person, Six of Wands is a sneaky strategist and a person who is ‘lookin’ out for number one.’ Six of Wands is that buddy you gotta keep an eye on. Six of Wands is also the narc or an informer type situation in which the betrayal could be for a greater cause. The spy is a traitor to one side, hero to the other. Sometimes Six of Wands is advice to be more selfish.
Knight of Cups is your friend, your buddy, the good guy, the boyfriend you get along with easily. The main focus of Knight of Cups is making the first friendly move, as in putting a hand out, making peace, starting a romance or friendship. He is the warm fuzzy younger man. I call him the guitar player or Sir Lancelot.
Magician and Knight of Cups both are about taking initiative, and getting something started, and both are about males. Come to think of it, Judgment also is to start a new phase or a new life. That’s three of four, you know.

Elements of our stories today are Talk, Action, Pretense, and Being a Friend. Wonder how many novels one could write with that outline? Betraying a friend, and doing what I said I would do: Both of these are stated here. How one expresses the agenda determines whether one’s friends join in the endeavor and act upon it. Getting people to agreeably do what you tell them to is some trick ….
