Tarot Verbatim
Guidance Can we make the the distinction between what we think we believe and what we believe in our gut? When the two conflict, we are at war with our own inner self. New perspectives can make me very uncomfortable because I hate admitting ‘I was wrong.’ Well, you weren’t wrong for who you were then, but, hey, you have grown up and see things in a whole new light that makes your former self squirm. That is what we are about today. One way to locate this area of conflict within the self is to quietly watch behavior: We act on what we actually believe a lot more than on what we think we believe.

Nine of Wands – Four of Cups – Hanged Man
.
LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING
.
……….
……….
………. Nine of Wands and Four of Cups Both Nine of Wands and Four of Cups don’t want something. They are both standing their ground, holding out against something that comes to them from outside themselves – usually physically. They also both can represent denial, resistance to an internal issue.
………………
………….. Nine of Wands is the border guard who was wounded in the head in the last skirmish and is back on duty still bandaged. He feels defensive, feels dread, feels very uncomfortable, and doesn’t want to be where he is. Scary territory here. He is anxious – high anxiety here – apprehensive, even fearful, but hangs in there ready to defend his position in spite of the pressure. In Nine of Wands, there is no assumption of his winning any upcoming skirmish, as there is in Seven of Wands, who is also ‘fighting against the odds.’ Tension is the main ingredient in Nine of Wands. Nine of Wands is that grind when you are waiting for the next shoe to drop, and don’t have hands-on active opposition. He can be feeling guilty … like knowing you’re wrong. Sometimes Nine of Wands stands for an uncomfortable feeling, like having to be there when someone drones on.
………………
………….. Four of Cups wants no part of this; he refuses and he denies adamantly. He is unwillingness itself! Whatever it is, it is not coming near me: No way! He can be holding out against temptation or indulgence (as in being on a diet and wanting ice cream), refusing to be recruited, saying ‘no’ to a nag, or not giving you a loan. He disallows, and he refuses to believe, or do, or be, whatever the subject is. Anyway, he has ‘had it.’ Don’t ask again.
………………
………….. Hanged Man is higher consciousness, the subconscious, psychic awareness, enlightenment, salvation, visions and visionary experiences. It is connecting reflexively to God or a higher power. It represents the moment you realize a truth that is major to you. He also translates ‘know,’ ‘aware’ and ‘gets it.’ He is the feeling in your gut, and ‘a little birdie told me’ and the feeling in your bones … and instinct. Call it the ‘I coulda had a V8’ moment. Most frequent word for Hanged Man is ‘realization’ or ‘realize.’ Hanged Man is that moment of truth when something strikes you that you didn’t pick up on for a while, and now suddenly you do: the lipstick on the collar moment. He brings up ‘hair on fire’ too: The halo around his head represents intense mental and emotional energy. Why is he upside down? – because that is the way you feel when enlightenment strikes, whatever kind of enlightenment it is.
……….
……….
………. Nine of Wands and Four of Cups Four of Cups and Nine of Wands, when Four of Cups is being the ‘negator,’ or negative modifier of other cards, are about not being anxious, not letting it get to you, refusing to defend your position, and not letting anything adverse to you come near you … got earplugs on to whatever they are harping on.
……….
……….
………. Nine of Wands and Hanged Man When Nine of Wands gets together with Hanged Man, you have insight into how uncomfortable (or guilty, or defensive, etc.) someone feels, or you realize a state of high anxiety in yourself. You may feel intensely guilty, feel accused, feel beleaguered, feel ‘the world is against me (and it may very well be). These two describe being under intense pressure. They also vividly describe resisting or holding out against psychic or spiritual personal revelations. Hanged Man’s revelation is coming from within: This person’s subconscious has just dropped a grenade of fact or truth upon the floor of his or her mundane daily physical (real-world) reality. When joined with Nine of Wands, this person feels threatened by the new perspective or vision or realization, and holds out desperately or manfully against it.
………
……….
……….… Four of Cups and Hanged Man Four of Cups and Hanged Man together speak of resisting your own insight, speak of unwillingness to see the facts or the truth that is already in your head. Visions come that are unwanted. Altered states of consciousness are ‘something I don’t believe in’ as they happen to you. I am NOT going to realize this! I will NOT put my faith in what I already feel. So it comes close to saying ‘denial of the truth,’ but not quite: It is a denial of what you realize – a different thing. Four of Cups and Hanged Man are ‘ I don’t acknowledge higher consciousness (or my subconscious instinct) because insight gives me the heebie-jeebies. “I’m not about to admit I understand.”
……….
……….
………. Nine of Wands and Four of Cups But Nine of Wands and Four of Cups also mean ‘not defensive’ and ‘not defending.’ I am not about to defend because I can’t get through to you – you have this battle line drawn and I am not interested in an argument. I am not getting involved in opposition.
These messages come across our bow with the distinction between what we think we believe and what we believe in our gut.

Nine of Wands………. He stands his ground, holding out against something that comes to him from outside himself – usually a physical thing, although it can be an inward battle. Sometimes the resistance is denial. Nine of Wands is very tense – high anxiety, apprehension or even outright fear in a scary situation. There’s nothing to fight, he is just waiting ‘for the other shoe to drop.’ Sometimes the issue is knowing you are ‘in the wrong’ and you feel guilt. On a good day, Nine of Wands is just an uncomfortable feeling when you have an obligation to be at a place you would rather boycott. The illustration is of a border guard who is back on duty wearing head bandages from the last clash, fearing the return of the people who hurt him.
.

Four of Cups…………. You look at Four of Cups and know what it means. He is unwillingness personified. He wants no part of, he refuses, he denies adamantly. No way! – it’s not coming near me. Get that out of my face. He can be holding out against temptation, he can be refusing to cooperate or participate or do something, he can snub a nag. He disallows. He refuses to believe, to do, to be. Don’t ask again – how many times do I have to tell you? The fellow averts his head, crosses both arms and legs, as one after another offer is made.
.

Hanged Man………. Hanged Man is the subconscious, higher consciousness, eureka and deja vu moments, enlightenment, vision and visionary experiences. It is the moment of realization or even hindsight (coulda had a V8). He is upside-down, the way you feel when your perspective suddenly shifts, and there’s a halo of energy around his head.

Guidance When something opens up that is so promising that you taste fear of it failing right along with hope of it succeeding … well … you can stay on the curb as a bystander until the grand opportunity expires. Then from the safety of hindsight you can say ‘If only …’ On the other hand, things really can be too good to be true. Assessing the difference between succeeding and failing calls for assessing other people. Check it out! Assessing ‘Is my trust well-founded?’ is like an internal audit when it comes to major life decisions like going into partnership (marriage or business): It’s painstaking, with the river of hope snaking right through the ocean of apprehension.

Nine of Wands and Four of Cups Here we have a split screen. It’s our job to sort out two cards that say on one hand
‘This gives me the heebie-jeebies, and I want no part of it’ and on the other hand two cards that say
Wheel of Fortune and Three of Pentacles ‘This is the best relationship or deal I could be in; it’s working out.’
Nine of Wands’ illustration shows someone sweating out another encounter, wounded from an earlier one. He is on guard.
Four of Cups’ illustration clearly wants no part of another offer. His arms are crossed, his head is averted … heck, even his legs are crossed as yet another cup is offered.
Wheel of Fortune’s illustration is about the long shot that paid off royally: What looks like a roulette wheel is surrounded by divine and by infernal entities associated with destiny. Its message is that spiritual factors influence mundane (everyday) doings and affairs. Hitting the jackpot is being blessed by randomness, it says, but there are pitfalls too.
Three of Pentacles’ (itself a violator of the Laws of Random Distribution: Look how often it visits!) illustration is less obvious, but it too is about a payoff. That’s a general contractor or architect who is responsible for the construction of the building shown: He bears its blueprint to demonstrate to his clients (nun and priest of the cathedral he built) that he has earned his final draft payment (the largest part of his fee). Three of Pentacles is about working out a relationship, as well as a deal, fair and square, about doing your part, and other parties doing their parts, fair and square, and according to protocol.
Nine of Wands and Three of Pentacles Nine of Wands and Three of Pentacles is being on guard, being afraid to participate in the exchange or the relationship.
Three of Pentacles and Four of Cups Three of Pentacles and Four of Cups is refusing to get involved in the relationship or deal: No way! I don’t believe!
Wheel of Fortune and Three of Pentacles Wheel of Fortune and Three of Pentacles is the relationship or deal paying off wonderfully. Each of these cards separately can involve a payoff.
Nine of Wands and Wheel of Fortune Nine of Wands and Wheel of Fortune is that paralyzing fear that can keep us from scoring the best thing ever, or, conversely, save us in a wonderful way from something we should never have had anything to do with. Both these cards are about unseen forces that interfere in our everyday events, lucky ones and ones that make our hair stand on end when we intuit they are around.
Nine of Wands and Four of Cups Nine of Wands and Four of Cups both don’t want to associate with someone or something. For both of them, the desire not to be involved is because of experience of the past.
So there you are: The moment of decision, and we picture the factors rather than the outcome, although ‘something wonderful happens’ and ‘a stroke of luck’ and the bonanza are Wheel of Fortune. We don’t have a card about the disaster or bad thing happening. So overall this is about a wonderful opportunity and advice to check it out.

Nine of Wands A wounded soldier is still on duty, afraid for the next hostile encounter. He is leery, and that’s based on past experience. You just know something’s up sometimes. You just know you don’t want to deal with these people. You just know you’re going to get hurt. ‘It’s out there somewhere and it’s going to be coming my way.’

Wheel of Fortune Unseen forces interfere in our ordinary day – lucky ones and dastardly ones. This illustration depicts randomness, the luck of the draw, by the roulette wheel and/or compass in the center, which has the four-letter Hebrew Name of God, literally ‘Lord,’ in the center, interspersed with the letters T, A, R and O . Outside the circle are various pictures of evil entities and (I think) good ones.

Three of Pentacles The general contractor or architect who oversaw the construction of the building meets his clients, blueprints in hand, to demonstrate he followed them, and is entitled to his final large payment. It’s a fair exchange, he lived up to his agreement and so will the clients, a monk and a nun. Emphasis is on each party to a transaction or relationship doing his/her part fair and square.

Four of Cups isn’t doing business with them, no way, no how: ‘No.’ Like a baby who won’t eat his peas. Turn your head away, cross your arms, even sit down and cross your legs. Something isn’t going through here.

Tarot Verbatim
Guidance Two self-sufficient people who have power of their own are in a story together and are associated with something that mustn’t happen. Advice is to not worry about it. We have different scenarios. The woman is taking care of, managing things for, a powerful man or her father. She is so skilled she isn’t supervised. The bookkeeper is concerned about funding, probably from government. You worry about getting your raise. An older man is concerned about his younger loyal wife.
Are YOU here for the first time? Come in!

If you just want your daily look ahead, Guidance and Tarot Readings are all you need. ‘Guidance’ (above) is a summary of what the cards are telling visitors to be aware of this day.
‘Group Tarot Cards Reading’ (just below this) is the actual word-for-word messages to everyone. These readings are about you and the people around you. They are about today and the days around it. So, go ahead and pick the sentences you feel are yours and decide whether to encourage or reject them for yourself.
Did you come here for your predictions? – You are done now – See you tomorrow. The family of commenters here would love for you to join in (the very last thing, at the bottom).

Now, Part Two,
Do you want to know a little, or a lot, about how this Tarot Verbatim™ thing works? If so,
*Go to Learn Tarot by Observing section below. This tells about the combined four pictures in the Tarot Readings – the pictures above here. It explains how these four cards get together in your mind to make the messages.
*Go to Learn Tarot by Pictures. It is what each of the four cards, by itself, has to say. It shows you how that illustration makes that card’s meanings in today’s Spread. All the words of each Tarot card reading you see here are a phrase-by-phrase translation of the scene pictured on those cards: no filler, no psychic impressions, no spirit guide. Word-for-word Tarot Verbatim™.
You can put all this together and intuitively see yourself how Tarot Verbatim™ works.
This is a group reading, with no Questioner and no Question to limit what the cards say, so there’s more variety – even contradictions – and also the pronouns are more flexible. If it feels like it’s yours, and it says ‘he,’ and you’re a ‘she,’ feel free to adopt it anyway.

Four of Cups
Emperor – Queen of Pentacles – Nine of Wands
LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING
.
We begin with Emperor and Queen of Pentacles, a man and woman who each have power. He is the ultimate authority in some way, and she backs and supports him in some way. She can also be an assistant, especially a financial assistant, or even a nurse-caretaker to a father or older husband. She is the matriarch of a family, and he is the patriarch.
Emperor can also be federal government or a head of a government or corporate entity at any of its levels. If you’re talking about janitors, Emperor is the head janitor. He doesn’t have to be POTUS.
The final two Rider Waite Tarot citizens, Nine of Wands and Four of Cups, taken together, mean ‘afraid it won’t go through.’ Nine of Wands is afraid, nervous, apprehensive – is sweating ‘what if’ out. Four of Cups is something not going through – is being rejected, or a refusal. Nine of Wands and Four of Cups also read ‘Don’t worry,’ or talk about not being put under pressure or not feeling pressured. Nine of Wands can be ‘somebody looking over your shoulder,’ being supervised or under supervision. It can be being under surveillance too.
Emperor and Nine of Pentacles speaks of an old man who is afraid or worried, and of a person who is apprehensive about what headquarters or a superior may be doing.
Emperor and Four of Cups is a man refusing to be old. It is authority not permitting something. It’s saying ‘no’ to the boss, too.
Queen of Pentacles and Nine of Wands is worrying about money or funding. It could speak of an executive secretary’s being supervised.
Queen of Pentacles and Four of Cups is a woman who is not going to let something happen, or who is refusing, saying ‘no,’ not letting something to through. It’s also not letting that woman baby you, “I don’t need a nurse; I don’t like possessive women.”
LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES
.

Emperor He is the ultimate authority in some way, which could be the head mechanic in a body shop. He is the federal government, or the head of any government, corporation, division, team, department or agency at any level.
If you’re talking about the mob, he is a capo. He is grandpa or papa in family matters. He is pictured sitting a little awkwardly and stiffly, with a long white beard … which reminds me, he is also God the Father.

Queen of Pentacles backs, supports, assists and is resourceful, competent and a power unto herself. She has money or manages money, which includes keeping financial books. She sits outdoors among symbols of fertility in Spring. The goat heads on her chair suggest witchiness but the card has yet to mean that in thirty years for me.

Nine of Wands was wounded in the last encounter but is still standing. He does not relish another encounter but is guarding that border. He is nervous, fearful, apprehensive, under pressure. Nine of Wands can represent a defensive posture or a fearful person. It also represents bravery, and holding your position about anything.

Four of Cups refuses. It does not go through. It stops here. I don’t want any part of that. I won’t take any more of that. This idea is aptly depicted by a fellow with legs and arms crossed and head averted like a kid who won’t eat his peas, as yet another cup is held out to him by a disembodied hand.

Four Card Spreads, Our Daily Spread
Advice We worry about the raise or the approval for funding going through. A woman is in charge of the money, whether as the politician’s backer or the daughter who supports her elderly father, or the bookkeeper who either applies for or doles out government funding. She has the leader’s authority you don’t want to stand up against. VIP’s able assistant does not pressure you. You don’t intimidate the capo’s woman.
(At the time of production, there’s no way to correct the lack of spaces after punctuation. I am writing around it now!)

=========================================================================
Is this the first time you come here? Well … what to do:
*Go to Advice above which is a summary of the Messages. (Advice is everyone’s favorite part.)
*Go to Daily Message Tarot Analysis below. One or more of those sentences has something to say to you. Intuitively pick those out. They are about you and the people around you. They are about today and the days around it. (It is a group message like a horoscope, except Tarot isn’t based on someone else’s birth data, so it can be specific, accurate, detailed and direct. Our experiment here is “How much more accurate is it?”)
Did you come here for your predictions? – You are done now – See you tomorrow.
Without a question to focus the answer, four cards can mean contradictory things especially when the Spread has a card that negates other cards. Without a question also the pronouns in a group reading are more flexible, especially in some of these Rider Waite Tarot spreads. When a pronoun is in parentheses, feel very free to substitute. The question in a ‘real’ individual reading supplies at least half the information!
