Seven of Swords – Seven of Swords has two main forks: One is daredevil and the other is criminal. Seven of Swords is an adventure or a mugging, a close call or a heist, a risk or a caper, a steal at the store or stolen property. Getting ripped off or making a risky investment. Think of his red socks as ‘hotfooting it’ because Seven of Swords sneaks, hotfoots it outta there, gets away with it, makes off with it, and can be a getaway story … or is going all out to do something at any cost. (Put it next to Chariot and you got a stolen car, or, with a crime story, Seven of Swords is the getaway car.)

So Seven of Swords can be the gray area, the shady side, the under-the table deal, the close call, or pulling it off. Seven of Swords can simply say ‘on thin ice,’ danger or dangerous, and to dare.

F. Y. I., Seven of Swords is the main card for assassination, black operations or mercenary activity. It means assault also, when the assault isn’t just a hotheaded reaction but more an intent, more planned.
Page of Wands – To be good-looking; to talk; to be respectable; to be that person, that kind of person, or the one who – identity. These are the categories of Page of Wands. You see a young fellow, well-dressed, in the act of presenting himself proudly. As apprentice knights, pages are eager to please others so they show their best face to the world.

As the main identity card (along with Page of Pentacles), Page of Wands can say ‘I am.’ Page of Wands is handsome, good-looking, cute.

Today Page of Wands says these phrases about having a good name: respectable man, he’s clean, is on his good behavior, is respectable, has such a good name, is in good shape.

Temperance – Wine and water being poured together by an angel with a healing symbol on his chest. Temperance is one of the cards put into the deck to keep the people who used Tarot from being accused of witchcraft (a capital crime prosecuted by the Roman Catholic church in the Middle Ages). Because diluting the wine is pious … and see the angel? None of these meanings (abstaining from alcohol, dilution) show up for Temperance in my experience.

Temperance is intimacy, love relationship, back-and-forth transactions, deals and dealing, face-to-face or person-to-person or hand-to-hand deals and dealing, partners and partnership and intimate partners, close relationship, close friends, conversation, responding to conversation, reciprocating and reciprocal, pairing up or just propinquity (being in the same place with). As you can see, the back and forth movement creates most of Temperance’s meanings.

Temperance also means healing because of that symbol on the angel’s chest. This meaning is encouraged by Page of Wands (as the physical body, and being in good shape), Ace of Cups (which also means healing or good health), and Judgment (which means recovery and has what looks like the same angel). Other ‘good health’ cards seldom or never show up for this purpose.

Seven of Swords – What do we see here?, you ask. Here’s a fellow who sneaks into enemy camp to make off with their weapons. But note his red cap, red socks (those don’t look like shoes to me), note that he is doing this in broad daylight, and is carrying the swords blade-down in his bare hands. That’s where this Seven of Swords card comes to mean self-destructive behavior and taking foolish risks, hazards and danger. But at the moment he is pulling off his caper, and getting away with this shenanigan.
Seven of Swords is about risky adventure, violating trust, double-crossing, sneaking, self-destructive activity (usually solo), revenge, cheating, illegal acts and criminal behavior (and criminals, of course) including assassination, murder, sabotage. And if you’re looking for a terrorist in Tarot, here he is. Seven of Swords is illicit, is shady dealing, is cheating on someone who trusts, is violating … violating just about anything not just the law and the rules. Seven of Swords and Five of Swords are the cards for the thief and the stealing. So Seven of Swords can simply add ‘the bad guy’ to your reading.

But of course every heavy has his light side, and every guerrilla is a potential hero to someone? The light side of Seven of Swords is daring, adventure, risk, long shots, that ‘walk on the wild side’ that ‘most every human does at least once, having the guts and having the gall. And simply being the bad guy, sometimes. Seven of Swords (and his partner in crime, Five of Swords) translate ‘pull it off’ at times.
Page of Wands – Page of Wands is that clean-cut upstanding young fellow we all know, who means well and minds his speech and appearance, aiming to please. This is the card for a person being in good physical condition or shape; it can even say ‘physical’ in the right context (usually with Hierophant, who also translates ‘physical.’ He is so well-dressed he can come across as a dandy, or, as moderns say, a metrosexual. ‘Boyish’ is what Page of Wands translates when he is no longer as young as he is acting or looking.

Respectable. That’s our Page of Wands guy. Today: I look respectable; I’m a good guy; a straight; a clean-cut guy; a straight arrow, perfectly respectable, squeaky clean. The Boy Scout. He is Prince Charming sometimes too. And the front man, and the spokesperson.

Page of Wands is mainly the good-looking man, the young man, and talking. Here’s a major member of the speak/tell/say Tarot club, and even here there is usually a positive spin: to speak up, to speak out, to say what you really feel, say what you really believe – that goes along with being a stand-up guy.

Combine ‘good-looking man’ or ‘handsome boy’ with speak/tell/say and you get ‘flirt.’ Page of Wands is your Tarot card for a fellow who’s a flirt. “He’s soo cute,” the too-young girls say of Page of Wands.

Page of Wands is famous for his good intentions, but he doesn’t have any accomplishments yet. Like pages everywhere, he is an apprentice knight – has slain no dragons as yet. But he has a good name and is ‘of good family,’ as the ancients would say.
Temperance – No clues from this illustration! Temperance is, in my humble opinion, an expendable Tarot card. One would think this card would stand for dilution (adding water to wine) and to cutting back on drinking – because temperance means moderation in drinking. But no such application occurs in my practice. (If it does in yours, well, let me know!) You would think Temperance would join in the theme of a flow of water or other liquid, but it very seldom does.

However, Temperance does join the theme of motion back and forth. You see Two of Pentacles with it then, as a rule. This is how Temperance can say ‘gets back to you on that.’
.
In real life, Temperance usually is about dealing with another person, or a deal or transaction or interaction, and is about communication or conversation between two people (dialog). Very often, Temperance translates: together, get together, in this together, etc.
.
Temperance is one of the relationship cards – a main one. Temperance is the main card that says ‘intimate relationship.’ This card can indicate to a woman that, yes, this is the lover who will talk to you! And Temperance will say ‘buddy’ and ‘close friend’ as well as ‘associate.’ It also says ‘couple’ and ‘the two of them’ or ‘the two of us.’ It also translates ‘joint’ when that means two persons together.

And speaking of that, this Temperance card is a member of the Pronoun Theme in Tarot Verbatim: It translates: us, we, them, they, ourselves, yourselves, those two, the pair of them, etc.

Temperance is activity by two people, between two people. It can be simply propinquity in some contexts: two people standing in the same place next to one another. Temperance is about two people who share in something – whether in an activity or in ownership, or whatever else. It will even indicate codefendants or cosigners.

Temperance is being partners or dealing with partners. It is also partnership itself – informing you, say, that the company you ask about is a partnership.
.
Temperance indicates, as the picture illustrates, a flow back and forth between two parties. It indicates, yes, there is a response. It indicates that it’s not just one deal, but one deal after another between these two parties: back and forth.

Page of Wands and Temperance are both talking. Page of Wands is one person saying something, and Temperance is a dialog between two persons, or two sides, or refers to talking to a couple or partners. The other card is about some chancy or daring activity, from an adventure to an assassination.

As usual, stories from this three-card spread arise from the other meanings of the involved cards that mean the same thing ( Page of Wands and Temperance as talking), so we are not just talking. Temperance alone yields pronouns: us, we, them, they, themselves, ourselves, yourselves, along with phrases like those two, the pair of them, buddy, close friend, associate, intimate partner. Temperance is conversation, deals and exchanges, and close relationships. These two
get together and set the tone for today’s chat with Tarot. The other card is about
solid, ongoing, long-term profit, and about a good future. Two of Wands is a
guarantee of sorts: It means ‘for sure’ and ‘guarantee,’ for example. Our point today
is when you talk directly with other people, or another person, you anchor whatever
it is you two (or you and they) are doing together.
…………………….Two of Wands is a man with a plan – a financial plan. It’s a very solid plan: He owns the real estate below, and is thinking of how to make more money from it … and he has the whole world in his possession. That’s pretty solid. Quite often this card just says ‘will’ and it also translates ‘future.’ It can be about a bank account or bank or banker or mortgage or mortgage broker. It can refer to real estate deals, to investment in general. Of course it means the rich man, the rich class, the solid citizen, the man with money.

Temperance has meanings that don’t know each other, even though it means intimate friends. Its focus is on intimacy, close relationship, buddies, friends, mutual arrangements, and soulmate-type love relationships. That comes, of course, from the blending.

Since the angel has a healing symbol on his chest, that is one of Temperance’s meanings: healing. It doesn’t exactly mean good health, but, next to Page of Wands, that does mean ‘in good shape,’ Temperance is saying ‘bodily healing to being in good shape.’
One of Temperance’s frequent translates is dealing or dealing with. It also means one-on-one, directly, so you find it saying you are dealing directly with … often with the person who can make the decision. It is also a hand-to-hand transaction, which can be a bad thing in some legal inquiries.
Temperance is mutual: us, they, them, together with someone, reciprocal relationship, partners, be with ….
Temperance hardly ever introduces the idea of an angel, but it is a support card for that if the question or nearby cards establishes the subject.
Once in a while, the fact it’s an angel, and he’s standing in water, and blending water, accesses the idea of mass consciousness being affected by some divine influence or healing energy (like Ace of Cups). Temperance does not purely mean this, but can support it.

Two of Wands………Two of Wands, it’s under control; it’s a sure thing; you’ve got the influence and the funds to put what you plan into effect. Two of Wands tells you you can do what you plan to bring about. It is future oriented, although it can be a ‘set-for-life’ person. It simply means future tense, and future words like ‘will’ and ‘will be.’ It means ‘future’ a lot, and it means ‘plan’ a lot. ‘Business’ and ‘finance’ and ‘funds’ belong to Two of Wands too. So do words like ‘prognosis’ and ‘projected.’
Story to this illustration is: This landholder owns the town (owns the world there in his hand). He stands upon his roof patio planning how to get more profit out of the real estate below. He is your landlord. He is the banker or bankster you seek funds from, or the mortgage broker or holder of your mortgage.

Page of Wands………….Page of Wands – we all like him. He is that good guy who speaks and dresses appropriately, looks good or is handsome. It’s you at your best; it’s you being the best person you are. Page of Wands is a lot about speaking, saying, telling, talking, stating what you stand for. The courage of his convictions – he says how he feels in a way that is polite and pleasing. Page of Wands gives his word too. Watch for this Rider Waite Tarot card in Tarot Verbatim™ to translate just ‘he’ fairly often.
Page of Wands is all about image; it even stands for ‘type of person,’ which is whatever type the other card brings up. If no other card introduces that idea, then Page of Wands is the good guy type. I call him Prince Charming, every mother’s son, and every girl’s dreamboat.

Temperance…….Temperance is one of those Johnny-come-lately Tarot cards, added in the Middle Ages to make Tarot look acceptable to the Church, or at least not unacceptably. So you have an angel (a holy angel); you have the idea of Temperance plastered as the title; you have the pouring back and forth representing the dilution of wine; and you even have healing as a symbol upon his chest. It works, so we don’t argue with it.

Temperance mainly means relationship, intimacy, equality – so ‘equal intimate partners.’ Yes, it means partnership or being a partner, or partnering up with another person, or making partner at work. The intimacy is the blending of the liquids.
Temperance means deal and dealing, means communication, means reciprocating and responding. All of these meanings are about a back-and-forth, not a one-time response or communication.

Ten of Cups is the ‘one big happy family’ and Temperance is two people, who could be an intimate couple, but who could also be relating to one another directly in any way: a deal, a transaction, a face-to-face talk or transfer of something, sometimes even just propinquity (someone who is close by). Both Ten of Cups and Temperance infer a bond. Page of Wands is speaking, and is a good guy, a likable guy, and some type of person. Page of Wands emphasizes speaking up, speaking from how you really feel, being honest in what you say, and being physically present – ‘in person.’ He is also a spokesperson.
Page of Wands blends with Ten of Cups (the group) as public speaking; Page of Wands blends with Temperance as an intimate talk, or a face-to-face talk.
………………………….. Page of Wands, as I just said up there, is the good guy, is the good-looking guy, the well-dressed, well-spoken, well-liked individual. Temperance means relationship, as does Three of Pentacles and Six of Cups, and they all refer to a good relationship, a reciprocal (each party doing his part) relationship. Temperance is specifically a close or intimate relationship, via the water and the wind being blended together. Page of Wands often identifies a type of person, the type being expressed by other cards unless its the type he represents: the good guy, the good talker, the attractive fellow whom everybody likes, who is typically also well-dressed. Today he is speaking to a group in a directly personal voice.

Ten of Cups …………. Ten of Cups is good happy folks, with an undertone of prosperous folks. It can smack of the Moral Majority of yore, upon occasion. It’s one big happy family of people who have something in common that unites them – anything at all in common that is fit to print. It is a circle of friends, a neighborhood, a literal family, a married couple, married with children, or marriage itself. Make that ‘happy’ marriage; Ten of Pentacles is the troubled marriage. Ten of Cups can represent any size political group, from a neighborhood to a nation to international ones. In questions about animals, it can be the herd or group of animal friends.

Temperance ………. Temperance represents unity too, but it’s one-on-one unity. It is an exchange, and it is about direct contact, reciprocal contact too. The blending of water and wine denotes intimacy, responding back and forth (reciprocity), simpatico, relationship and close relationship. It often stands for the word ‘intimate’ or ‘intimacy’ regarding a relationship or setting. It means two people together, so it is ‘us,’ ‘we,’ ‘together,’ ‘they,’ etc. Temperance can be standing next to someone, or being close by. If you get Temperance regarding inquiry, for example, about a lost animal, it is close by, maybe still in the house, or where ‘you’ are.
Note that the pouring of water and wine is dilution. Strangely, maybe once a year Temperance may refer to that, and then the question is directly about that. It should even mean ‘blending in,’ but it doesn’t.

Once again we see how, without a question that names the parties and the subject, a number of seemingly unrelated and/or contradictory messages are conveyed. The question behind these sentences is a ‘Tell the visitors to the blog today something meaning to them about their doings today” type thing.
Page of Wands is ‘he,’ is the good-looking guy, is any word that involves ‘talk’ and also means to stand up, to give your word. Temperance is to deal, to be intimate or close, a one-on-one transaction or relationship. The Four of Swords is to not do, to stay unchanged, to sleep, to not participate, to refrain. The Three of Wands is a simple card that means ‘ships are coming in.’ so: income, the future, continuing, etc.
In this four-card ‘Outcome’ spread, there is no position-meaning to affect the message, and these cards can be read in any order. That, of course, adds to the variety of meanings. Since our messages here are to the public, or at least OUR public, that is a good thing.
