Guidance     Family problems include both problems within the family and problems the family faces from the outside.  No matter what kind of difficulties they are facing, she expects their life together to be loving.  She expects him to be sweet to her family-from-hell.  Paying child support to his ex-wife has him in Dutch with his family.  The idea is to be a loving family no matter what the problems are.

Now,  Part Two,

Do you want to know a little, or a lot, about how this Tarot Verbatim™ thing works? If so,

*Go to Learn Tarot by Observing section below. This tells about the combined four pictures in the Tarot Readings – the pictures above here.  It explains how these four cards get together in your mind to make the messages.

*Go to Learn Tarot by the Pictures.  It is what each of the four cards, by itself, has to say.  It shows you how that illustration makes that card’s meanings in today’s Spread. All the words of each Tarot card reading you see here are a phrase-by-phrase translation of the scene pictured on those cards: no filler, no psychic impressions, no spirit guide. Word-for-word Tarot Verbatim™.

You can put all this together and intuitively see yourself how Tarot Verbatim™ works.

This is a group reading, with no Questioner and no Question to limit what the cards say, so there’s more variety – even contradictions – and also the pronouns are more flexible. If it feels like it’s yours, and it says ‘he,’ and you’re a ‘she,’ feel free to adopt it anyway.

Six of Cups

Queen of Swords – Ten of Pentacles – Nine of Wands

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

.

Here are three cards that mean aggravation, in Rider Waite. Let me show you the different ways they express that groove.

Queen of Swords is not getting her due. She is irritated, maybe to the point of feeling martyred and/or bitter. This is the bitch card, the nag, and Queen of Swords is reliable for that. But the main meaning is that someone isn’t living up to her standards or isn’t giving her what she expects. She is demanding, and has something to complain about or someone to confront. She is the victim too; her attitude can be perfectly justified. Lastly, this is the card that represents a widow or a woman whose child has died, who is mourning. It also means an old or older woman.

Ten of Pentacles’ general meaning is ‘people who have problems’ and ‘people who are a problem.’ This is the dysfunctional family, the screwed-up relatives, the star-crossed serious relationship. This is a mob or gang or politics or politicians, or dysfunctional coworkers. This is ‘the public’ you deal with. This is the bad neighborhood, or problems associated with cultures, or the low class neighbors. It also describes disaster-type situations that are a threat to a neighborhood.

Ten of Pentacles and Queen of Swords describe a dysfunctional relationship and a disgruntled woman. You can see how the aggravated Queen of Wands fits with the dysfunctional family, or is the trouble with (or of) of family, or the family is her problem.

The last of the three cards that mean aggravation is Nine of Wands, ‘the border guard.’ He has lost the battle to the invaders and is still there defending the turf, wounded, expecting them back. He is alone. The most common application for Nine of Wands is feeling defensive, being put on the spot (defensive), being accused, being in fear of something happening (or happening again). He is one of the stress cards, one of the anxiety cards, of course. You can see how Nine of Wands and Queen of Swords is a nagging or accusing woman making a fellow feel guilty, apprehensive, and defensive. The stress of living with ‘the bitch.’ You can see how Ten of Pentacles and Nine of Wands is the unremitting stress of putting up with a bunch of difficult relatives or coworkers, or how defensive he feels about the trouble he caused the family.

So, after the three aggravation cards, we have a Rider Waite Tarot card that means romance, children, the past, a gift, the sweet life, nostalgia and good memories: Six of Cups, one of the warm-fuzzy cards.

Three of the cards at today’s Tarot Table are also about family: Queen of Swords as the mama who is dissatisfied; Ten of Pentacles as the troubled family; Six of Cups as the children, or the parties’ romance. The three of them could tell of a woman who’s disturbing the family by missing the child or children, or a woman who feels the damned kids are ruining her home life, or the woman who sacrifices in difficult times to give the kids a happy childhood. Queen of Swords and Six of Cups tell of a fellow who loves bitchy women, and also describe a woman who disciplines (holds up to her standards) the children.

Six of Cups with Ten of Pentacles speaks of children relating to a culture or a family, or both. Ten of Pentacles is culture as a problem (in any way). It says the kids are a family problem too. It could even speak of children’s role in a culture, if that were involved in an inquiry.

.

Queen of Swords is the strong disciplinarian who lets you know when you let her down.  She is also the confrontational nag, the bitch, the complainer (even whiner), the demanding woman. Your ex-wife.  Your mother or mother-in-law from hell.  She is the Plaintiff or Complainant in a lawsuit.  She lives by a high standard and expects people to do what they said they would.  See her hand out,  and that ‘now would be good’  look on her face? She can also be the suffering soul, the self-sacrificing saintly matriarch, the martyr of the family, a widow, a woman mourning her dead child.

Ten of Pentacles is one of three family cards in today’s spread. This one can mean ‘family’ in a larger sense too:  the culture, the neighborhood, the mob, the political party.  It is about family problems.  The illustration depicts a typical family quarrel scenario, with Grandpa on the throne smugly possessing the family dogs and the couple having a  ‘discussion’ that upsets the kid who pulls on mama’s clothes as daddy stares in the other direction while Wife talks to him.

Nine of Wands is an uneasy feeling you get when people don’t approve of you and you expect some consequences from the situation.  It is more of a chronic situation usually.  The head wound on the fellow indicates he has already fought this battle and expects to have to again.  So this situation is a headache. He feels defensive, apprehensive, dread, stress and anxiety. The illustration is a border guard who has been wounded and is still on duty, dreading the return of the enemy.

Advice   Sometimes we are all together in the wrong place at the wrong time, and we should not prolong the mutual angst.   Some people are toxic (at least in the situation at hand) and they have the gift of arranging the people around them in the worst possible chronic gridlock.   Busting out is the plan.   You will at least not be part of the hurtful organization yourself.

Two of Wands
Tower – Queen of Swords – Ten of Pentacles

Split with Relative(s) and be Successful (Tower + Ten of Pentacles)

Have a nice predictable future by getting this negative relative/these negative relatives out of your life.

Am doing well for myself, have it under control, since I split with that wench and her whole dysfunctional family.

Split with the quarreling clan and with mama-bat, and be successful.

She does not get her due from family.(Queen of Swords + Ten of Pentacles)

When mama expects to be taken care of by the family, she is dispossessed of her house.

The old lady owns the real estate, the relatives conspire to dispossess her.

She is angry with the whole screwed-up family, it will come to a blowup.

She confronts the extended family with her demand to be taken care of (for life).

She whines, nags and demands until people blow up and she gets it: her power holds!

Family Trouble: Disagreeable Woman (Queen of Swords + Ten of Pentacles)

Ex-wife expects to be in your family forever despite the divorce.

She causes family fights and she always will, the martyr.

She complains, nags and whines at the whole family until they are ready to split up with each other, and she always will be that way.

She confronts the extended family with her demand to be taken care of (for life).

Confront the whining old bat, and the whole clan will be ‘all over you.’

That whole family fights and complains about one another all the time.

The old people’s home will throw the disagreeable old lady out.

Everybody in the clan fights all the time with everybody and with the mad matriarch.

The family estate is owned by the widow as her asset – not the family’s.

The old lady is on the outs with family: That will be the problem.

Everybody in the clan fights all the time with everybody and with the mad matriarch.

She whines, nags and demands until people blow up and she gets it: her power holds!

You’re going to see the family split up due to the ‘bitch on wheels.’

A plan to divorce the wife, the family isn’t getting along.

In-laws are not living up to her expectations, so she plans to divorce.

In-laws will reject the wife.

Miscellaneous

The whole confrontational crew will make life disagreeable: guaranteed!

The global organization breaks up over grievances.

Factions of the company are demanding autonomy.

There will be an upheaval or rebellion in the company due to these demands.

Criticism of the organization is a huge impact on its bottom line.

A global organization is criticized confrontationally.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

Uh-oh, there’s no hope of much pretty coming from these Tarot fellows gathering here! Three out of four refer to major family trouble, or to other confrontational unpleasantness.  The remaining card doesn’t negate any of it; it simply means the future, ownership of real estate, global, assets, and a plan.

Tower is a confrontation, blow-up, divorce, rejection.  Queen of Swords feels she isn’t getting what she is entitled to and is angry.  She may be justified by the facts or not.  She is the critical nag, the whining demanding (old) wench.  Or bitch, or ex-wife, or mother-in-law or mama-bat.  She also feels someone (her fellow, often) isn’t living up to her standards – which, again, may be justified.   She may be a victim.  Ten of Pentacles are the dysfunctional crew, clan, family, in-laws, organization or company or agency.  They are quarrelsome, are in trouble or are trouble.   They are those people.

See?  No peace here.  The only positive is the secure future of Two of Wands can mean that having been through this,  a person is stable and has a good outlook, a good future.  Nothing like a hellish home life to make one crave peace, eh?

Tower This illustrates the destruction of the Tower of Babel in the histories of the countries we associate with Bible times. It’s one of those cards you don’t have to be told the meanings of:  destruction, being thrown out, rejection, explosions and explosive (as in temper or confrontation).
Queen of Swords She never fails to come up for the kind of personality we have all endured: the martyred nagging whining complaining demanding female we call the old bat, our ex, the *itch, who usually acts righteous. Nurse Ratchett. Leona Helmsley (of “The poor pay taxes.”) She is the widow and can be a woman who has lost a child too.
Ten of Pentacles Dysfunction, corruption, conspiracy and crime, not to mention low class troublemakers and wealthy political organizations and families that cause us grief.  Oh yeah, politicians too. Pictured is a patriarchal family’s showdown. Grandpa gloating on his throne with dogs paying him homage as son gazes in the distance and does not even face or look at his wife who is trying to tell him something while their child pulls at her clothes, squalling. The family quarrel … except today it goes beyond that due to the other cards.
Two of Wands The financier atop his castle contemplates his real estate empire making plans for more profit. He has the world in his hands. (Pamela Coleman Smith’s joke?) This card means profit, plan, the future, security, financial planning, business, outlook.

Queen of Swords

Ten of Pentacles, Knight of Wands, Judgment

Two of our Rider Waite Tarot cards are about family strife – Ten of Pentacles and Queen of Swords; one is about getting out of there; and one is about a new life, a change, recovery.

Ten of Pentacles and Queen of Swords are unhappy family stuff:

(1) Ten of Pentacles shows a quarrel in the extended family: The grumpy looking patriarch pets the dogs while the couple has the typical ‘discussion’ in which the woman earnestly talks and the dude stares elsewhere, while the kid stands open-mouthed behind mama. Yes, those things are what this card means, except it isn’t always relatives; it can be any group.

(2) Queen of Swords is just about all the negative stereotypes for women except ‘slut.’ She is the mother-in-law, the grumpy old lady, the bitch, the longsuffering or martyred wife, the nag, the woman who is displeased with conduct of others. The illustration is meant to suggest a woman whose child has died and who is in grief, so she is the widow as well. She is also a victim. The drawing portrays these ideas well: That left hand extended in a “Now would be good” gesture, and the right hand grasping her sword, sternly set mouth and erect posture, the storm clouds at ground level … yeah.

Knight of Wands is a simple Tarot citizen, one of the uncomplicated ones. He is in a hurry and is more leaving than pursuing. He is in a hurry but not hellbent: See how he holds those reins? Sometimes he means being transferred from one place to another, as in relocation. This tends to be an energetic person.

Judgment shows the resurrection complete with the angel with the trumpet. Its Rider Waite and Verbatim Tarot meanings are the elements of that concept: recovery, a change, sudden, an announcement, a whole new life, a new level of awareness or enlightenment.

=========================================================================

Advice is about how relocation can change you and others after you arrive at the new place, as well as about how changes within you bring on your moving from one place to another. You can move into or away from a complicated or dysfunctional scene, and people in that scene can change your life both for good and ill. Changes go both ways, both as to their causes and their effects. They bear watching.

=========================================================================
