Queen of Wands – Queen of Wands, the woman who runs the place, is the main card for wife (as King of Wands is the main card for husband). Wife, mother, mama, married woman. She is the stereotype sensible woman, plain and plainspoken: She is Your Ma. I think of her as the kindergarten teacher: a stick in one hand and a flower in the other, with that alert look that watching the kids gives you. The black cat evidences she is in control in maybe devious ways.

Queen of Wands is associated with the house: She owns it. She owns and occupies the turf, and/or is the homeowner. Queen of Wands even translates that she is home sometimes.

Although she is domestic (This card even means ‘native country,’ speaking of domestic.), Queen of Wands is The Manager. She is organized, skilled, competent, established at her employment. She can be a bossy controlling dame, too.

Lovers – Lovers doesn’t refer to lovers as often as you would expect because its illustration is so far-reaching (it means a lot of things). Today it does refer to lovers because it has Queen of Wands, the Wife, and another, male, person who fits her type, Emperor, and the remaining card links them, Lovers. So today Lovers is mainly lovers and partners – its people meanings.

Today Lovers uses four of its other meanings: equals, protection, propinquity (being with, standing alongside, etc.), and contact. Lovers means connection as well as contact, by the way.

We continue our theme. King of Wands and Queen of Wands are Mr. and Mrs. This is true of all King-Queen pairs of the same suit, but especially of this suit, because these are the Rider Waite Tarot cards that particularly refer to the word ‘husband’ and the word ‘wife.’

 

Queen of Wands is also the manager, in business or any arena. King of Wands in business is the hands-on person, labor, and/or the angry frustrated edgy dude. He is the workingman, and the commoner or ‘man with the common touch.’

 

Between these two cards is Strength: The woman who diplomatically handles a conflict and solves a problem, who uses her influence to smoothly accomplish a purpose without a ripple. Deft is a good word for her touch.

 

Then we have Emperor. He is the ultimate authority in business – headquarters, the owner. He is Grandpa in family life. He is the controlling old dude, potentially, wherever he shows up – so of course he is the federal government, is whatever sits on top of any power pyramid. He also stands in for the Establishment, and for being rigid (if not ossified, at times).

 

What you see at a glance in this spread is husband and wife (King and Queen of Wands) and Grandpa (Emperor), with the woman preventing conflict. Since Queen of Wands is the manager per se, we extend this scenario into business, so the woman is keeping the ‘powers that be’ from interfering with the hands-on physical operation.

King of Wands in business is the hands-on person, labor, and/or the angry frustrated edgy dude. In family life, he is the husband, sometimes the father. The Rider Waite illustration for him shows a frustrated-looking man with the symbols of a fiery nature, gripping a big stick and having his other hand in sort of a fist. This is daddy on a bad day, husband mad.

 

 

Strength is a person we could use more of. She is determined to get a difficult situation solved and determined to get a difficult person to cooperate. She uses her influence strategically to accomplish her purpose. She is shown with the symbol of eternity (ever-repeating cycle, mathematical symbol) over her head, white robe with flowers, subduing a lion who would like to roar but has to purr because of her deft touch.

 

 

Queen of Wands in business is the manager. In family life, she is Mama, the woman who runs the house efficiently and has her rules. She is shown in Rider Waite with that nurse look on her face, a flower in one hand and a board in the other.

 

 

Emperor is the autocratic power person you have to deal with in his sphere of influence at your own risk. He represents such power centers as the federal government, Grandpa, the owner of the business. His picture in Rider Waite Tarot is the old man with that ‘My way, and now would be good’ look that brooks no input.

MEANINGS AND ILLUSTRATIONS:  OBSERVATION OF THE SPREAD

We continue our theme. King of Wands and Queen of Wands are Mr. and Mrs. This is true of all King-Queen pairs of the same suit, but especially of this suit, because these are the Rider Waite Tarot cards that particularly refer to the word ‘husband’ and the word ‘wife.’

 

Queen of Wands is also the manager, in business or any arena. King of Wands in business is the hands-on person, labor, and/or the angry frustrated edgy dude.

 

Between these two cards is Strength: The woman who diplomatically handles a conflict and solves a problem, who uses her influence to smoothly accomplish a purpose without a ripple. Deft is a good word for her touch.

 

Then we have Emperor. He is the ultimate authority in business – headquarters, the owner. He is Grandpa in family life. He is the controlling old dude, potentially, wherever he shows up – so of course he is the federal government, is whatever sits on top of any power pyramid.

King of Wands in business is the hands-on person, labor, and/or the angry frustrated edgy dude. In family life, he is the husband, sometimes the father. The Rider Waite illustration for him shows a frustrated-looking man with the symbols of a fiery nature, gripping a big stick and having his other hand in sort of a fist. This is daddy on a bad day.

 

Strength is a person we could use more of. She is determined to get a difficult situation solved and determined to get a difficult person to cooperate. He uses her influence strategically to accomplish her purpose. She is shown with the symbol of eternity (ever-repeating cycle, mathematical symbol) over her head, white robe with flowers, subduing a lion who would like to roar but has to purr because of her deft touch.

 

Queen of Wands in business is the manager. In family life, she is Mama, the woman who runs the house efficiently and has her rules. She is shown in Rider Waite with that nurse look on her face, a flower in one hand and a board in the other.

 

Emperor is the autocratic power person you have to deal with in his sphere of influence at your own risk. He represents such power centers as the federal government, Grandpa, the owner of the business. His picture in Rider Waite Tarot is the old man with that ‘My way, and now would be good’ look that brooks no input.

Meanings And Illustrations: Observation Of The Thread

Emperor and Queen of Wands each rules the roost.  He is the patriarch,  the head boss,   the capo,  the federal government,  the dictator,  the pillar of the community,  the religious man who fees God made him in his own image and authority.  She is the woman who efficiently rules her house and manages her business,  very practical and pragmatic,  no-nonsense and down-to-earth.  Tends to be plain as well as plain-spoken … Why is that the case?

The combination of Two of Cups and Wheel of Fortune’s first-blush impression is a scheme to get rich quick.  Put Two of Cups with Emperor,  and you have a shady deal with a federal agency,  or you could be influencing Grandpa for your own benefit.  Two of Cups is influence by a factor outside what you know of,  which is often a con of some sort,  or your lover having a use for you.  Third-party influence as in a silent partner or backer as well.  And Wheel of Fortune of course is winning big,  striking it rich,  a stroke of luck,  destiny and karma.

I looked at these and wondered what the heck this was all about.  The first sentence immediately came to mind,  as Emperor-Queen of Wands are easily daddy and mommy.

 

 

Meanings and Illustrations: Individual Rider Waite Tarot Cards

Two of Cups,  wasn’t I just talking about this one?  This is one of the pulling-off-a-caper cards.  Its basic meaning is influence by a factor outside what you know of,  which is a flexible meaning.  Now,  you will see most Tarot sites represent this as romance in a positive way.  That caduceus tells you  ‘something’s up’  in this relationship or deal,  in the same way the ominous look in the pony’s eye in Sun tells you that.  Some bad motive.

The illustration represents a couple ‘pledging their troth’  as they used to say (getting engaged, we say now) back in the day when marriage was a death sentence,  back when ’til death do you part’  was for real.

Emperor is the boss.  Personality-wise,  this is the stolid insensitive old-fashioned farmer-type man,  represented by Taurus.  This is your ‘because I said so’  dad. This is the world’s and history’s dictators.  This is God the Father and the federal government too.  And a mafia capo,  of course.  This kind of man can justify anything with  ‘I said so,’  the same way God can,  because He was made in God’s image.  Or he can simply be your dad,  your boss,  an older or elderly man who is set in his ways.

Queen of Wands is the wife and mother,  is the manager,  who ‘runs a tight ship.’  Her house is clean,  her pantry is in order,  her desk is sparsely populated,  and she is capable and established.  She is pictured alert,  with a flower in one hand and a stick in the other.

Wheel of Fortune,  it’s always good to see you.  You almost always mean a wonderful thing happens.  Unless you are about a karmic or destiny payoff in a bad way,  which is rare.  Making it happen or triggering an event,  or the role of coincidence in what happens:  That is Wheel of Fortune,  and it’s represented as a gamble with that roulette-wheel-looking circular thing right in its middle.
