Today’s generous donor also shares our lively correspondence. The Tarot reading here is from the perspective of her love interest, and this presentation is a great example of how one person’s perspective in a relationship can be so self-centered that the other person isn’t in the same relationship at all: two different worlds.

Sometimes I up-periscope and wonder what happened, and ‘Where was I? What was I thinking?’ about the scene I’m in. I especially ponder how wrecks end up being lucky breaks. I marvel at how lucky some defective units are. Some of my most brilliant moves were blunders in disguise. Between night and morning there is a block of cooler breeze that sets the stage for the new day: That is the time things are born and die. Hierophant and Wheel of Fortune See, Hierophant is the usual, ordinary, physical, realm. Wheel of Fortune, on the other hand, is the realm of the miraculous, wonderful, lucky fate, and it means it happens. Put the two together and the very best happens right where you live in the real physical world.

Eight of Cups and Seven of Pentacles These two cards together tell us this wonderful event happens to us when we’re not looking. Eight of Cups says there’s an abrupt change of course, that we are off track, that some fluke occurs, we get away from something and into something else. Seven of Pentacles is ‘Duh.’ – wondering, puzzling, pondering, not knowing what to think or how things are going to be.

LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES

 

Hierophant   This is the pope doing a public ritual. The point of the illustration is the public face, the official story – because theologians have a whole different view of tenets of their religions than its public has. Hierophant means the usual, normal, ordinary, accepted version or form. Most often Hierophant translates: should, ought, behave right, be decent, harmless, adhere to protocol.

 

Eight of Cups   A pilgrim detours on his path because of mountains and a river. The underlying meaning is this change of course, this abandoning one way for the other, this leaving something behind. It says ‘anymore’ often. ‘Abort course’ brings up abortions and miscarriages too. Unfinished symphony, abandoned career. It’s about disruption, interruption, being drafted into or dismissed out of anything. It’s also about escape and ducking out, and getting away from. It’s onto the next as it leaves the previous, usually.

 

Seven of Pentacles   He leans upon his shovel and ponders whether this garden work will result in a crop. This is one of the ‘Duh’ cards in Tarot Verbatim™. Hmmm, I guess, maybe, what if, if, I wonder, I don’t know, I wonder whether, doubts, marvel. The ‘Duh’ cards create questions out of their neighbors, and any question will do: what, why, when, should, where … any old question.

 

Wheel of Fortune The point of Wheel of Fortune’s illustration is that entities divine and infernal have roles in human affairs. See the critters with books, the critters with wings, the menacing red lizard … and then see the Hebrew Name of God in a circle in the center of what resembles a roulette wheel? Wheel of Fortune often means ‘chance,’ forms of the word ‘happen,’ best, fate, wonderful, miracle, lucky, going on, event, fortunate, take a chance, lottery and gambling. It also is the cause. It is often the jackpot, paying off, it pays, a windfall.

Four Card Spreads, Our Daily Spread

Advice is about how vested we are in the future, how we wonder hopefully and wonder anxiously about it, about what is happening out there. Anticipation is human. We wonder about our destiny. The underlying message is, ‘Your ship is coming in, and it is carrying your jackpot.’ Today we are telling you about good luck, about good things are going to be happening. Good things come to those who wait for good things.

Without a question to focus the answer, four cards can mean contradictory things especially when the Spread has a card that negates other cards. Without a question also the pronouns in a group reading are more flexible, especially in some of these Rider Waite Tarot spreads. When a pronoun is in parentheses, feel very free to substitute. The question in a ‘real’ individual reading supplies at least half the information!

MEANINGS AND ILLUSTRATIONS: OBSERVATION OF THE SPREAD

Page of Swords and Seven of Pentacles are speculation, wondering. Seven of Pentacles is just wondering uncertainly, and Page of Swords is wondering anxiously.

 

Three of Wands is, yes, your ship is coming in. So our story is you are wondering about something that will actually happen.

 

Then Wheel of Fortune comes just short of guaranteeing that what is coming is that miracle, windfall, breakthrough, lucky break ….

 

Three of the four Rider Waite Tarot cards refer to the future (Page of Swords is fear of, Three of Wands is solid hope for, and Seven of Pentacles is wondering about).

 

If you accentuate Page of Swords’ fearful wondering, you get a more negative sentence.

 

MEANINGS AND ILLUSTRATIONS: INDIVIDUAL RIDER WAITE TAROT CARDS

 

Page of Swords is that nervous fellow or gal who twists the hair and stutters, the person who gives credence to whatever is threatening. It is that feeling you get when things do go bump in the night. It’s paranoia, it’s hyper-alertness, and, yes, it’s being in a dangerous situation and not knowing.

 

Pictured is a civilian with an upraised weapon standing on a grassy knoll in a windstorm, looking in all directions anxiously.

 

Three of Wands is seeing your ships coming in, and that is what is on the Rider Waite Tarot illustration. It refers to events being in the future, and often simply adds the future tense, as in ‘will be’ to the sentence.

 

Wheel of Fortune almost always is a stroke of luck – an opportunity, if not a miracle. It also refers to a happening, an event, destiny, and even coincidence. It means ‘a chance’ as well. Pictured is what looks like a roulette wheel with all kinds of occult symbols and critters all over the card. In between the letters T, A, R and O are occult symbols of the cycle of creation which refers to those male and female principles we have mentioned here.

 

Seven of Pentacles is that feeling of watching for the pot to boil. He speculates on whether his cucumber plants will bear fruit … whether he has both genders of the plant, which are necessary for fruiting to occur.

They are about today and the days around it. (It is a group message like a horoscope, except Tarot isn’t based on someone else’s birth data, so it can be specific, accurate, detailed and direct. Our experiment here is “How much more accurate is it?”)

Without a question to focus the answer, four cards can mean contradictory things especially when the Spread has a card that negates other cards. Without a question also the pronouns in a group reading are more flexible, especially in some of these Rider Waite Tarot spreads. When a pronoun is in parentheses, feel very free to substitute. The question in a ‘real’ individual reading supplies at least half the information!

It seems you can’t escape your destiny. If it’s destiny, it isn’t going away. The impossible is happening. You can quit doubting now. It looks like good things are happening now, and whatever held me back is on its way out. Time to move out of a place that tends to hold you back. Not stuck anymore! This looks like a great opportunity. You may be unable to leave because your big chance has come. Can’t seem to put it behind me, which would be the best move. How could I be so lucky as to escape from a hopeless situation? What would prevent him/her from leaving for a better opportunity? It seems you are getting over whatever keeps you from realizing your full potential. Figure out how best to escape from this tight spot. It seems impossible for life to be so wonderful after all that. Why can’t the best way out happen? It seemed the best way out couldn’t happen. Slowly recovering from paralysis seems optimal. Somehow, he escaped death when that happened. Is this the miracle that gets (him/her) out of jail? You can doubt it all you want but the impossible is happening as you wonder about it. It seems a miracle to get over this ailment. Putting a death behind you, you are figuring how it was for the best, perhaps. He thought he couldn’t escape, but he did. This was easier to do than usual, for me. We start with doubting, wondering, questioning in the Seven of Pentacles; then we have the happening, the miracle, the luck in the Wheel of Fortune; then we have leaving, phasing out, getting over or getting away from in the Six of Swords. And then is the impossible, the thing that prevents, holds back, paralyzes, keeps from, stymies … and that’s the card that can mean death. So, the impossible happens, the escape or recovery you doubted occurs, a miracle gets you out of that jail somehow. The nearest we come to a theme is Eight of Swords with Wheel of Fortune, as both of them refer to happening – but the former says it’s impossible, and the latter says it’s destined. You could say the Eight of Swords and the Six of Swords both refer to a dismal situation … but the former is being stuck in it, and the latter is escaping it. Meanings and Illustrations: Individual Rider Waite Tarot Cards Seven of Pentacles doubts, wonders, questions, seems and figures out. He is the fella – remember? – who planted the cucumbers and doesn’t know yet whether they will bear fruit because he doesn’t know whether both genders of the plant are present. Wheel of Fortune is destiny, luck, and it happens for the best, the optimum outcome. Wheel of Fortune is wonderful, is a miracle happening. This would be the card to carry in you wallet so nothing bad would happen to you. It shows all kinds of occult creatures reading books … hmmm? … and yet is plainly meaning luck because there’s that roulette wheel looking thing right there in the center. Six of Swords’ future is going to be much better because it’s past is so dismal. It’s leaving, it’s on its way out, it’s recovering, it’s putting this awful experience behind it. It has the help of a friend. It is also a journey in consciousness – the concept of going over water. Eight of Swords is stuck, it’s in a tight spot that is impossible, it’s helpless and hopeless and resigned to it. It’s dead. It is tied up in a swamp far from its home on the hill, blindfolded.
