GUIDANCE………………. I don’t care if it’s good for me: I don’t want it. I don’t care if that’s what’s true; I don’t want to hear it. It’s such a challenge to live simply on my paycheck. It’s my bill, and I don’t wanna pay it. As much as I hate going to the doctor, I need some treatment. And I wise up and pay the fine I protested. I know I deserved what I got, but I’m still mad about it. I hate vegetables! Here’s an elder that gets no respect from me! Why am I paying the bills of this mouthy ingrate, anyway? Today this emotional resistance is what our messages have in common. I have been to each of these places, and it felt so real when I was there …. Now, in the rear view mirror, it looks kinda funny, you know?

……….
.……..…….. What a picture we have here, with sanity and realism, Hermit, in the center of it all; doing what’s right, paying the bills, and getting a paycheck to the left; and refusing and protest to the right – oftentimes, hell-raising irrational protest. These three elements make many stories, and we track some of those today. Six of Pentacles and Hermit are both, in different perspectives, about what is right.

Six of Pentacles.……Six of Pentacles is paying the bills and getting the paycheck. Six of Pentacles is getting the respect you deserve, and giving them the respect they deserve. It is doing the right thing, fair and square, in any kind of exchange at all. Three of Pentacles carries this same exact meaning. Three of Wands also means income and collecting your money. Six of Pentacles also speaks of ‘having a right to.’
The scales of justice in the illustration often bring up fairness issues. The fact the employer is weighing the coins to pay their true value to the workers expands to treating other people right, and doing the right thing. ‘Treating’ people right expands to healing treatments, especially with one of the healing cards aspecting Six of Pentacles – Hermit and Temperance being two such examples.
Six of Pentacles is any sort of exchange. It brings up the following words: allocating, giving, contributing, passing (often germs), expense, market value, and receiving or getting, honoring an obligation, fair price, ‘worth it.’ These exchanges can be anything – hand-to-hand transactions, information, germs, credit for doing something, paying dues, donating, etc. With Hermit here today, an exchange of information or wisdom (counseling, advice, etc.) happens.
The scales of justice put Six of Pentacles in the justice theme, where it can be: being served papers, a legal proceeding or hearing, prosecution, paying a fine, even paying a lawyer. Six of Pentacles – remember this! – can be ‘getting what you deserve’ as either reward or comeuppance (consequence).

Hermit……….Hermit is a many-splendored Tarot card. Every detail of that illustration applies at some time or another. You see a monk who is also a doctor out looking with his lamp on the road at night in the mountains for people to help. Hermit is a doctor, a medic, a paramedic – any kind of health regimen or treatment, including sensible living. Hermit means ‘go to’ as a pedestrian, or as a road trip.
We take only a small slice of Hermit today. Presenting his whole spectrum would confuse our narrow focus today. Mainly, he is being the following: advice, counseling, good advice, wise up, ‘I know,’ I see things as they are, you can see, facts to look at, bringer of truth, what’s right and true – all about knowing, facts, wisdom and truth.
Then we use the sober and honest part of Hermit’s vocabulary: sober, calm him down, sobriety, to sober him up.
Then we have the treatment end of Hermit: I go to the doctor for treatment. And other such things as: looking for … in my old age; living simply, help with; and an honest ….

Seven of Wands……….Seven of Wands is privacy and private property being trespassed upon or invaded. Like Seven of Swords, it’s a combative invasion, and there’s drama. But Seven of Wands is equally applicable to the invader feeling entitled (Gimme the car keys.) and the outnumbered defender expecting to win (Mad as hell; not taking it anymore.) Seven of Wands therefore means otherwise-unrelated concepts as: against the odds; I fight FOR it; in spite of myself; to take a stand.
It’s surprising how varied Seven of Wands’ phrases are. Today, in order of appearance this time, here are its phrases and words: unwelcome; wants no part; no way is he going to; he refuses; resists the attention; he isn’t about to; I don’t want to; as much as I hate to, you are most unwelcome; isn’t about to pay; very much against his principles; I protested; mouthy ingrate; a defense against; he’s disorderly; you are overwhelmed; against the odds; is a challenge; disorderly conduct; mad about it; agitated; I fight for it; in spite of myself; take a stand.
.
Hermit and Seven of Wands present (among many other scenarios) ‘I don’t want help.’ ‘I don’t want to go to rehab or counseling.’ It could also describe the intrusion in personal life of ‘helpers,’ and could describe involuntary (Seven of Wands) treatment. It also is the Cassandra effect: no one wants to hear the truth, the facts, and the bringer of the facts (think Fukushima) is unwelcome. Now see the parallels between ‘unwelcome’ and ‘involuntary.’ Hermit and Seven of Wands also present ‘I know it’s “good for me” but I hate it.’ (We all do that!)
.
.
.
.
We are onto just about anything that gives rise to the ‘get that out of my face’ feeling and reaction – in all its ramifications. We don’t want to be intruded upon, even when we are wrong and in need of enlightenment; even when we owe money and don’t want to pay; even when we feel entitled to something we expect someone else to supply; even when we don’t want to go to the doctor (or the counselor), even when the facts that intrude upon our assumptions are presented; even when we don’t want to eat our vegetables, or take our meds (or vitamins), exercise, drink water, and quit smoking – any and all of those sorts of things. I hear ‘I don’t wanna go to Rehab’ as I type this. We paint this picture in our presentation today, and that’s all we do: just describe the feeling and all the scenarios that provoke the response.
.

……..Seven of Cups is time to pick up the pieces. Seven of Cups is when out-of-control factors take over the steering wheel and you have to deal with chaos now. There’s an impolite common phrase for Seven of Cups that you hear a lot nowadays: The shit hit the fan. SNAFU is a close second. ‘Needle in a haystack’ predated those two. ‘Loose cannon’ also comes to mind. Those are all Seven of Cups moments. In Pandora’s Box and in Sorcerer’s Apprentice, stories that are the source of Rider Waite’s Seven of Cups illustration, the critters (evil spirits) are on the loose because of human carelessness, and the good spirit that limits their mischief is still locked up. (In both stories, the good spirit is let loose later, to play catch-up with the destructive elements.)

Seven of Cups………..Seven of Cups is time to pick up the pieces.
Seven of Cups covers dreams, nightmares, demonic instances, inexplicable happenings, inspiration, imagination and imagination gone wild … actually, anything gone wild, as in ‘Off we go into the wild blue yonder’ … surprise, amazement, shock, being drunk or high, hallucinations, hauntings, seances, magic and spells, crazy and craziness.
Seven of Cups also is about unrelated items jumbled or mixed together, which would include storm debris because Seven of Cups is also about a storm (the cloud). But any mix. Even the stuff in a lady’s purse, you know? Phrases like ‘all sorts of things’ and ‘messed up’ and ‘scattered’ and ‘all over the place’ express this concept.
As well, Seven of Cups is damage, shattered, in pieces, scattered, clutter, havoc, melee, a mess and messy. Seven of Cups is a meltdown, whether a person’s denouement or a Fukushima.
Seven of Cups sprays its meaning far and wide: It is dominant. When you see this card in your spread, it’s not going to be, overall, pretty, unless somehow the other cards or the question limit this Tarot card to its ‘dream, imagination, inspiration’ mode.
Seven of Cups is a certified party-pooper. It almost guarantees this spread is not upbeat.

Six of Pentacles…………Six of Pentacles is a fair exchange, fairness, money stuff and justice stuff. What unites these meanings is, of course, the illustration. An employer is scrupulously weighing the coins with which he pays employees. The scale brings justice meanings. The exactitude of fairness, however, is the emphasis in Six of Pentacles. The face value of gold coins is one thing; their actual weight-of-gold value is quite another. This employer isn’t going to fudge: He pays them what they are worth to the penny.
So Six of Pentacles shows the Company (or you, of course) paying every penny owed. Paying the bills, meeting the obligations fair and square. It’s a fair exchange, and it’s a paycheck on one hand and an expense on the other. (This suggests bookkeeping.) Six of Pentacles, as an exchange, includes not just money but information, microbes, attention – anything you can give, anything you can receive – the flow of each of those things. So it’s payments, it’s what you can afford, it’s living within your means, paying your bills, etc. And it’s giving everyone his due – the proper respect, attention, treatment, space … whatever. With Hermit being the adviser, counselor, and appraiser, Six of Pentacles becomes a flow and an exchange of information, of wisdom.
Six of Pentacles and Hermit straighten out Seven of Cups’ mess.
.

Hermit………..Hermit is about being ‘real.’ He is a monk in a ‘service’ order. (That means he doesn’t just contemplate; he takes action.) He comes to the aid of travelers on the snowy mountain road, to take them home to the monastery and serve them hot meals and warm beds. He is your devoted friend, someone who comes to help … or he is you as the devoted friend who comes to help. The lantern represents bringing light, of course. Hermit represents enlightenment, and being enlightened.
Hermit is wise, understanding, mature – even elderly. He is a friend who helps; a counselor; a medic, paramedic or physician or doctor. Hermit is the kind learned friend who understands and who helps.
Hermit indicates that someone will come to you if that is the question. You see Hermit with High Priestess. Hermit comes to the other person; High Priestess is the lady who waits for the gentleman to approach. She know. (So does he.)
Hermit shows an old man, so this Rider Waite Tarot card can apply to an elderly or older person.
He is coming to others, so – especially if the question is about ‘Will ‘he’ call ‘me,’ the answer is ‘yes’ because Hermit often means the one who makes the approach or makes the first move socially.
Hermit is a friend too, usually a helpful friend. He is also about being on the road, especially on foot, and searching. Hermit is the card that comes up for searching for a lost person or animal.
As the monk, Hermit also shows up to represent a religious person, or, of course a ‘religious’ – a reverend or other religious office.
Hermit and Seven of Cups are looking for what is lost … or are lost and looking. (Reminds me of the country song about searching for the Lost Shaker of Salt.) They are a confused old man, they are brain fog from being up all night, they are looking at the pieces, they are looking for the needle in the haystack, they are taking a good look at this mess, they are clarifying the confusion.
.
We find ourselves habitually searching for sense, for what is fair, in a world gone mad. We pay our bills and we pay our dues. We pay attention; we pay money; we give our wisdom to people who are faced with situations that are beyond their control. People give us information when we are confused. What kind of information are we talking about? It could be advice about taking a good look, an intuitive look, at the loose cannons in our personal lives, to understand and be aware of them. Those loose cannons are not presented here as problems but more as some underfoot stuff that gets in the way that you have to step around.
.
Now we show where each of the phrases in each of the sentences comes from:

Tarot Verbatim
GUIDANCE Sharing valuable information with the people who can benefit from it, we compare to money exchanges and ‘what you can afford.’ How much wisdom can you afford?, in other words. Give them only what they can benefit from the way they are living now. Living within our means financially compares to living with the level of awareness we have now. Would you like to be richer? – in information, spiritual development, or cash? – Well, there’s a price for each of them. The price isn’t just time either; it’s how wide your lens is (how receptive you are), and how good the strainer is that keeps the debris out (how selective you are).

Now, Part Two,
Do you want to know a little, or a lot, about how this Tarot Verbatim™ thing works? If so,
*Go to Learn Tarot by Observing section below. This tells about the combined meanings of the three cards in the pictures in the Tarot Readings. It explains how these cards get together in your mind to make the messages. HERE ARE PHRASES FOR ALL THREE 2-CARD COMBINATIONS is a stream-of-consciousness bridge to your subconscious if you use it regularly – people report.
*Go to Learn Tarot by Pictures. It is what each of the cards, by itself, has to say. It shows you how that illustration makes that card’s meanings in today’s Spread. All the words of each Tarot card reading you see here are a phrase-by-phrase translation of the scene pictured on those cards: no filler, no psychic impressions, no spirit guide. Word-for-word Tarot Verbatim™.
You can put all this together and intuitively see yourself how Tarot Verbatim™ works.
This is a group reading, with no Questioner and no Question to limit what the cards say, so there’s more variety – even contradictions – than a personal reading would give you. Also, pronouns are flexible: If the sentence feels like it’s yours, and it says ‘he,’ but you’re a ‘she,’ well, it’s yours.
*AND if you write names of any two cards into the Google search bar, it will give you meanings of those!

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

………
This spread is a study in cards being used in the same sentence for two different of their meanings, not just the same meaning twice, although we do that too here. Six of Pentacles is giving or receiving anything (even microbes!) and is also a fair exchange (as Three of Pentacles is), and therefore is being treated fairly. Ten of Cups is everybody, the family, the community, and being one of the ‘control group,’ being normal. Hermit is seeking, is wisdom or useful information, is elderly (usually a man), is honest. He is on a spiritual path, and he is private, so he is on a private spiritual path. The gist of the messages today is that wherever people share information and are honest with one another, there’s a slice of utopia.
Note that a building (Ten of Cups) where you receive treatment (Six of Pentacles) … medical treatment (Hermit) … is a hospital. Those three cards can simply say ‘hospital.’ Watch for this.
………………
………….. Six of Pentacles shows someone paying every penny he owes. It’s a fair exchange, and it’s a paycheck on one hand and an expense on the other. Six of Pentacles, as an exchange, includes not just money but information, microbes, attention – anything you can give, anything you can receive – the flow of each of those things. So it’s payments, it’s what you can afford, it’s living within your means, paying your bills, etc. And it’s giving everyone his due – the proper respect, attention, treatment, space … whatever. With Hermit being the adviser, counselor, and appraiser, Six of Pentacles become a flow and an exchange of information, of wisdom. With Ten of Cups, Six of Pentacles becomes giving everyone his due, his fair share, and also making people happy (giving them happiness).
………………
………….. Ten of Cups shows almost a cartoon of personal prosperity: the embracing couple, the prancing one-boy-and-one-girl kids, the corner lot on the golf course, and even a rainbow over the house. (Ace of Pentacles too equates having money with being right.) Ten of Cups is ‘one big happy family,’ is a group of people who have something in common – a community of any size and any sort. Ten of Cups can be the public or even ‘the masses.’ It means being normal, being happy, being one of the respectable good people. Ten of Cups is in good company with Six of Pentacles and Hermit.
Ten of Cups is also one of two positive marriage cards. (All the marriage cards expand into community, almost implying that it all starts with the couple, and metastasizes.) It means married with children, and it also indicates someone is married. (In dating inquires, if this Tarot card comes up, you ask ‘Is he/she married?’)
Ten of Cups is also about home, house and real estate – and, to a ‘way lesser extent, a building. (Four of Wands, the other positive marriage card, is a more of a building.) Ten of Cups is a neighborhood … a good neighborhood, of course, where respectable people live, and a good neighborhood for children. (This is very applicable in real estate inquiries.)
With Six of Pentacles next door, it is a house you can make the payments on – can afford. And you are with the people who treat you well and/or are treating other people with the attention and respect they deserve.
With Hermit next door, you are looking for a house to live happily in, a house in, perhaps, a good neighborhood for children, or maybe you are moving on up to that upper-class neighborhood. You are also one of the spiritual people, one of the sincere people, and you are helping friends, or friends are helping you.
………………
………….. Hermit is a monk who is dedicated to helping people – travelers on the road, specifically. He is out on the cold mountain road at night, with a light, searching for them. Every one of those words is his. The monk illustration imports these meanings to Hermit: honesty, chastity (monogamous or celibate or ‘true to you’), solitude, sincerity, being spiritual or ‘on the path,’ being wise, being private, and also being a doctor (his clothing shows he is a doctor of the time).
Other meanings of Hermit are a friend (helpful friend of course), and an elderly person, or older person, usually a man.
Now we show where each of the phrases in each of the sentences comes from:

If everybody were honest, we would all be treated right, we are saying, and we proceed to illustrate some scenes that may be early isolated outbreaks of utopia. If we shared our information the way we make exchanges of money among ourselves, we would all be the wiser, we ruminate here. And be where you belong: Leave the family and/or culture you were born to if you aren’t blooming there. We talk about only imparting as much wisdom to friends as they are comfortable with as they are living now. And we talk about auditing our own level of awareness: Are you using as much wisdom as you can afford?

Six of Pentacles ……….. It’s easy to limit Six of Pentacles to financial applications. It is a financial card. It can be a justice card (the scales admit of that). But it is ‘way broader than all that. Six of Pentacles is allocations or exchanges, usually fair exchanges, of anything at all – time, attention, money, respect, information (where it can call the word ‘impart’) … even germs. It can be a hand-to-hand transaction, like Temperance can (very bad for some legal questions!).
Six of Pentacles is also fundamentally about fairness: a fair exchange, being treated fairly, getting what is deserved (good or bad, by the way), paying your dues (in any sense).
.

Ten of Cups…………. Ten of Cups is unity. The group, tribe, couple, family, neighborhood, any interest group (guys who play dominoes in the street, etc.), and any size political group (city, county, state, area or region, nation, international). More specifically, it applies to neutral or ‘good’ groups like the respectable people, the good neighborhood, people of good will … one big happy family.
.

Hermit …………. Hermit, you take each and every element of that illustration as its various applications (otherwise not related). Here they are, quoted from above: ‘He is out on the cold mountain road at night, with a light, searching for people he can help. Every one of those words is his. The monk illustration imports these meanings to Hermit: honesty, chastity (monogamous or celibate or ‘true to you’), solitude, sincerity, being spiritual or ‘on the path,’ being wise, being private, and also being a doctor (his clothing shows he is a doctor of the time).’
Hermit also shows an old man, so this Rider Waite Tarot card can apply to an elderly or older person. He is coming to others, so Hermit often means the one who makes the approach or makes the first move socially.

Six of Pentacles – Star – Ace of Pentacles
LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING
.
All three of these cards involve what is right and doing what is right: Six of Pentacles is to pay what you owe honestly, and to receive money. Hermit is honesty. Ace of Pentacles is both doing or being right and having money.
The idea of being rewarded is in both Six of Pentacles and Ace of Pentacles. Both of them are having money: Six of Pentacles is receiving or paying it, and Ace of Pentacles is possessing it.
Hermit is being on the Path and Ace of Pentacles is the Path.
Star means good health and Hermit is a healer and represents sobriety. Hermit brings the truth and Star tells the good news.
Tarot observes that good health comes from good living and good medical advice. In the same breath, Tarot is saying that living right by your own reckoning gives you good health. Then Tarot goes further and claims that making honest money and paying what is due brings that good feeling that is the basis of happiness to your life.
LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES
.

Six of Pentacles is getting paid or paying, is getting what you deserve or giving others what they deserve. It is doing the right thing. An employer is shown weighing coins to pay his employees fairly. Yes, this is a justice card.

Star associates being clean and being happy. Star is singing in the shower, feeling good, good vibrations, good health. It also is to tell or explain, to publicize, and to perform – especially singing. The performance in the illustration is a ceremonial bath, and it shows the bather pouring two pitchers into the water.

Ace of Pentacles juxtaposes spirituality and money. The straight and narrow path is there for all to see, with its lilies of purity in front and its rose arbor of victory at the far end, and with the hand with the large sum in it representing money and success. One of the things it is saying is that when you are on the right path, your life is all right.

Hermit’s meanings grow directly out of its picture: The monk goes out looking for travelers on the road to help them, bringing his light. He is an old man who is living an honest life of service to others, and he is a doctor as well, a healer. Being ‘on the Path’ is of course suggested.

*Go to Daily Message Tarot Analysis below. One or more of those sentences has something to say to you. Pick those out. They are about you and the people around you. They are about today and the days around it. (It is a group message like a horoscope, except Tarot isn’t based on someone else’s birth data, so it can be specific, accurate, detailed and direct. Our experiment here is “How much more accurate is it?”)
*Go to Advice to apply what those sentences say (in the best way) for you. (Advice is everyone’s favorite part.) Did you come here for your predictions? – You are done now – See you tomorrow.
The Question for weekdays is: “Tell the visitors here something useful and meaningful to them. The Question for weekends is stated right on top on those days.
Without a question to focus the answer, four cards can mean contradictory things especially when the Spread has a card that negates other cards. Without a question also the pronouns in a group reading are more flexible, especially in some of these Rider Waite Tarot spreads. When a pronoun is in parentheses, feel very free to substitute. The question in a ‘real’ individual reading supplies at least half the information!

MEANINGS AND ILLUSTRATIONS: OBSERVATION OF THE SPREAD
Six of Pentacles is to pay what you owe honestly, and Hermit is honesty, and Ace of Pentacles is having money. All three of these cards involve what is right and doing what is right.
The idea of being rewarded is in both Six of Pentacles and Ace of Pentacles. Both of them are having money: Six of Pentacles is receiving or paying it, and Ace of Pentacles is possessing it.
Hermit is being on the Path and Ace of Pentacles is the Path.
Star means good health and Hermit is a healer and is sobriety. Hermit brings the truth and Star tells the good news.
MEANINGS AND ILLUSTRATIONS: INDIVIDUAL RIDER WAITE TAROT CARDS

Six of Pentacles is getting paid or paying, is getting what you deserve or giving others what they deserve. It is doing the right thing. An employer is shown weighing coins to pay his employees fairly. It is a justice card.

Star is one of the strange cards as far as the illustration and the meaning. Some ceremonial bath associated with a performance here means good health, talking, singing or acting, good news or publicity.

Ace of Pentacles has a juxtaposition of spirituality and money. The straight and narrow path is there for all to see, with its lilies in front and rose arbor at the far end, and with the hand with the large sum in it representing money and success. But it isn’t espousing the prosperity gospel of big corporate religion; it is saying that when you are on the right path, your life is all right.

Hermit’s meanings grow out of its picture: The monk goes out looking for travelers on the road to help them, bringing his light. He is an old man who is living an honest life of service to others, and he is a doctor as well, a healer. Being ‘on the Path’ is of course suggested. This isn’t one of the churchy cards.
