Tarot Readings for You for October 28-29, 2017 Weekend©

GUIDANCE          Acting, or not acting, the way you really feel: That is our rumination today. Don’t respond to insincere friendships, and don’t act loving when you don’t feel that way. Some people are honest naturally, and some people are even brutally and casually honest naturally. You find yourself inclined one way or another when it comes to being yourself, and today we are meditating on that sort of thing being more choice than mere inclination.

Six of WandsWhat you see here illustrates a false victory or Pyrrhic victory. In a battle he actually wins against those Arabs, an English king pursues retreaters and ends up in a trap, abducted into captivity for the rest of his life. And this was arranged by the next-in-line to the throne, who made sure the Arabs kept the real king. Your tip-off to ‘things are not as they seem here’ is the horse looking back at you. Tarot Verbatim™ is (so far anyway) the only system in which Six of Wands means just that: ‘things are not as they seem; do not trust the environment.’

.

Pretense is a large part of Six of Wands. Today it translates ‘acts like’ quite a few times. Here are phrases today that express the pretense, the act: the game, up to something, puts on an act, pretending to be, the whole routine, interfere in your life and act like, up to something, so phony, acting insincerely.

.

Six of Wands is one of the cards for ‘the user’ and for being influenced by another person against your best interests. The other main one is Two of Cups (another card Tarot Verbatim™ differs from other systems). ‘Being influenced by another against your interest’ includes propaganda, being recruited or recruiting, seduction, being induced to do or to buy (or even to be) something. Getting on the bandwagon and being a missionary for whatever the wagon is carrying: that’s Six of Wands all right.

.

And both Six of Wands and Two of Cups extend to betrayal, double-cross, and frenemies. The smiling traitor is found in both these cards, especially when they appear in the same spread.

.

Six of Wands is about the effect of influence upon a person, and this could be the influence of something rather than someone. Today with Six of Cups it’s ‘the old neighborhood’ and childhood. Six of Wands is also about what it would cost you to do, or to be (whatever). And this Six of Wands card today even is ‘when you weren’t yourself’!

Four of Swords Lying there. Lying there thinking. That’s what you see, and that is the core meaning of Four of Swords. The story behind the picture makes Four of Swords the card for meditation, but that is a rare meaning unless that’s what your questions are all about. Lying on the remains of the saint or hero his church houses, meditating on his life purpose as a knight, is part of the process of becoming a knight of the realm.

.

So you have a time out from the usual activities. Sleep, rest, vacation, being quiet, recuperation, not participating, withdrawing – things like that belong here in Four of Swords. Not participating is a title you often see for this card in Tarot books. Not taking action, not joining in. So Four of Swords often ends up as a negator card (a negative modifier to another card). The other card will specify what the ‘not’ refers to, so that Four of Swords just translates the negative word. Here are today’s examples of that, which I am putting in a list because reading this straight-ahead is not comfortable:

[NOT, NOT NOW, NOT THAT WAY, CAN’T, NOT RESPONDING]

not

I’m not

is not really with it

not at the moment

is not really with it

not at the moment

if you can’t _, don’t

when he really isn’t

not addressing

it’s not that way

but isn’t going to put up with them

but not

he’s not

not responding to

you just can’t be

.

The next main meaning for Four of Swords is being indifferent, being unaffected, not being bothered, not caring – tuning out the environment in other words. I am turned off, or I am so over it.

.

Lastly, our knight-candidate is remaining there. Is inert. Phrases for this are not immediately apparent sometimes: Today we have ‘ends up.’ Four of Swords often translates ‘still’ as in ‘still there’ or being still and quiet.

Six of Cups Oh, the far-flung disparate and wide-ranging meanings of Six of Cups! All these meanings are in the story of the picture, but they are otherwise not connected. What you see is Little Boy Giving Little Girl Flowers in a neighborhood, and the picture is in a sentimental style. Today, out of that scene, we have these main headline meanings for this picture:

[LOVE, ROMANCE, COURTSHIP, ROMANTIC SCENE, LOVING INTENTION]

[NAIVE, KID, SWEET, CHILDHOOD, CHILDREN, JUVENILE, WARM FUZZY]

[FRIEND]

[INNOCENT]

[FAVOR, GIFT]

[NEIGHBORHOOD]

[THE PAST]

Love and romance, loving feeling. The good old days, or simply times past. A quaint or comfy house or cottage, or the old neighborhood. Childhood and children. Giving or getting a gift – and birthday and Valentine’s gifts are featured. Warm fuzzy anythings, including warm friendship or old friends … or old lovers. And the past, mainly the nostalgic pleasant past, unless another rude card butts in and modifies Six of Cups’ pleasant message.

Interesting. To the left we have insincerity in Six of Wands; to the right we have sincerity in Six of Cups. In the middle, we have not being or not doing. Right away, you see all sorts of stories and scenarios. Lots: The sentences you see here are ‘the pick of the litter.’

.

Six of Wands is always a tricky-to-apply card. You know something’s probably up, but not exactly what. Things are not as they seem, so you look under the rocks and look twice. Your friend acts like he’s not doing anything behind your back? Just let the friend betray you? It’s a murky scene but you still trust your buddy? Often, with Six of Wands, you look to the story in the question or issue you have presented Tarot with to determine where the potential no-see-um is.

.

Six of Wands and Four of Swords are both not expressing, whereas Six of Cups is giving out sweetness. Four of Swords is laying low, and Six of Wands could be ‘layin’ for ya.’ And with Six of Wands being pretense or just acting like or insincere, Six of Cups could be only acting sweet or only pretending to be your friend … or you could be subtly influencing that crook to act trustworthy. Always remember that ‘The action can go both ways’ in Tarot (meaning any of the ways, of course). That’s how Seven of Wands gets all its dimensions about both defending your property or your position, or being the pushy mouthy hellraiser demanding some entitlement: both the invasion and the defense.

I am completely at peace with my friends doing, saying, or being something behind my back. I don’t do anything to influence them to be sweet. I don’t trust them not to be ‘up to something’ either. I am simply completely at ease that I too can influence them covertly to act trustworthy: I too am a behavioral strategist, and I stubbornly remain in, and inhabit, our original friendship scene.

GUIDANCE      Don’t we all act the most innocent when we’re ‘up to something’? And didn’t we all learn that as children? So we are examining situations along that line – that our actions, and their actions, may not be out of the motives that ‘go along with’ what is being done. Role-playing can make ‘bad guys’ do good things and ‘good guys’ do bad things. We all know this but applying it all the time as things happen is quite another matter. So is policing ourselves to admit what we are actually engaged in.

Six of Wands Six of Wands is about appearances, role-playing, self-interest, getting with the program, going along with what’s happening around you, and being the recruiter to get people to do something that may not be in their real interest. Any of this can be done with the best, or the worst, of intentions. Today with the cards accompanying Six of Wands, it’s about getting children to cooperate, or children getting people to do favors. Today it’s also about the role of a man in romance, and it’s about a sneaky love affair or a real old-fashioned love affair.

.

In the company of its neighbors today, Six of Wands tells stories about crossing from just another love affair to really being in love; about how a trusted friend can get you into something shady; about how innocent we act when we are ‘up to something and how he does for kids who ‘aren’t really his.’

.

The illustration is about a traitor arranging to have his king abducted into captivity by luring him into chasing some defeated Arabs in a battle.  That is why this card means all these complex pretenses.

MagicianJust remember ‘male who acts’ as shorthand for Magician. The number 1 is the male principle, esoterically speaking – is the beginning, so it means initiative and taking action … doing. (Magician is marked ‘1’ but it’s cut off in our illustration here.)

.

This produces more phrases than you would think. It also makes Magician invisible sometimes, because the action is expressed along with another card’s meaning. The initiative meanings can be expressed in such phrases as ‘he started out to’ or ‘gets him into something’ – meaning gets him into doing something, but we don’t say it that way. Of course, Magician translates: initiative, takes initiative, initiates.

.

As the male principle, Magician can just say ‘he’ at times, or ‘he is the one who.’ It also translates ‘act like,’ especially in the company of a card that is about conforming or playing a role, like Six of Wands or Hierophant or even Fool in its ‘as if’ mode.

.

Watch for Magician to say it’s doable, that it was done, or that action was taken.

Six of Cups Two well-dressed sweet-looking children, and the little boy is giving the little girl flowers in front of where they live (either an estate or large apartment buildings). This illustration gives rise to all sorts of meanings and applications. Kids, childhood, childhood home, gifts, romance, love, house, home, safe neighborhood, quaint cottage-like house, old house, the way it used to be, old-fashioned, what you’re used to, sweet life, trust, sincerity, friendship and old friends, innocence, reward, and, yes, giving or getting flowers.

Strange story here. To the left is Six of Wands, all about appearances being deceiving and all about influencing someone without seeming to. To the right is Six of Cups, childlike innocence and giving someone something that makes them happy. In the middle is Magician doing it.

.

This spread influences Six of Wands, who can be very devious, to act in the best interests of another person. This spread points out a lot of sneakiness-facts: how we act our most innocent when we aim to pull off some mischief; how a trusted friend can induce us to do something we feel is shady; how with the worst of motives, someone can end up doing a really good deed.

So our point today is that actions and motives are not always going in the same direction at all … and that’s probably true inside me and you right now. So let’s look.

Tarot Readings for You for February 28, 2014 Friday©

Guidance      Our contrast today is between sincerely caring and playing a role due to self-interest.   At some point, your fling jells into real attachment:   “When I liberate from the role of romance, I am uninhibited and sincere.    Being devoted releases us from the strictures of going through the motions of a love relationship.”    We talk about bribing children to behave, being the brat who mooches his way back to mama’s house, and being the abused child.   We have a devil-may-care playboy or brat, and we have the man who is devoted.   We have stories!    And we have a concept that we start by playing our role, and drop that when we actually engage in the reality of our situation.

Are YOU here for the first time?   Come in!

People love this place! Our site is divided into four sections: Guidance, Tarot Readings, Learn Tarot by Observation, and Learn Tarot by Pictures.
If you just want your daily look ahead, Guidance and Tarot Readings are all you need. ‘Guidance’ (above) is a summary of what the cards are telling visitors to be aware of this day.

‘Group Tarot Cards Reading’ (just below this) is the actual word-for-word messages from the pictures of the four cards you see – to everyone. These readings are about you and the people around you.  They are about today and the days around it. Now,  Part Two,

Do you want to know a little, or a lot, about how this Tarot Verbatim™ thing works? If so,

*Go to Learn Tarot by Observing section below. This tells about the combined four pictures in the Tarot Readings – the pictures above here.  It explains how these four cards get together in your mind to make the messages.

*Go to Learn Tarot by Pictures.  It is what each of the four cards, by itself, has to say.  It shows you how that illustration makes that card’s meanings in today’s Spread. All the words of each Tarot card reading you see here are a phrase-by-phrase translation of the scene pictured on those cards: no filler, no psychic impressions, no spirit guide. Word-for-word Tarot Verbatim™.

You can put all this together and intuitively see yourself how Tarot Verbatim™ works.

This is a group reading, with no Questioner and no Question to limit what the cards say, so there’s more variety – even contradictions – and also the pronouns are more flexible. If it feels like it’s yours, and it says ‘he,’ and you’re a ‘she,’ feel free to adopt it anyway.

Hermit

Six of Wands – Six of Cups – Sun

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

Six of Cups and Sun Both cards that refer to child/children are here, Six of Cups and Sun. (See the pictures.) Six of Cups is the good little boy and girl, and Sun is the reckless, mischievous brat who sneaks out to engage in risky recreation. Six of Cups is a trusting beautiful romance, and Sun is a fling.

Six of Cups and Hermit Both six of Cups and Hermit refer to being devoted, helpful and sincere. Six of Cups is sweetness, giving a gift (or favor sometimes), love; Hermit is looking out for, devotion, going out of one’s way to help another.

Six of Wands and Sun Both Six of Wands and Sun refer to breaking rules or misbehaving. In Six of Wands we have a deliberate pretense, ruse, deception or double-cross to get another person’s benefit for oneself. In Sun, we have uninhibited, reckless, spontaneous behavior like sneaking out to play.

Six of Wands and Hermit Six of Wands and Hermit are opposite: Six of Wands is out to get you, and is the backstabbing doublecrosser, and Hermit is a sincere friend who is helping.

Sun and HermitSun and Hermit are both leaving, are on the road, but in opposite ways. Sun is recklessly and callously departing the structure and safety of the home; Hermit is bringing the comforts of home to travelers on the road.

Today, we have stories. Today, we have an underlying observation that we step out of our prescribed role in the social order when we sincerely engage with another person.

Our Daily Spread for Mar. 25, 2011

Today’s question is:  What should I do to have the good life for myself?

Rider_Waite_Tarot_Spread

Your being the attractive resourceful person makes others figure they should be good to you

Six of Cups
Empress, Seven of Pentacles, Six of Wands

Your being the attractive resourceful person makes others figure they should be good to you.
She is so attractive guys feel she must be influencing them to give her things and pay attention to her.
When you have plenty, ask yourself whether the person you are trusting is being a mooch.
Ever wonder why people go out of their way to be generous to a person who is a resource to them?
Old friends are comfortable to be with. You wonder what other people are up to, what their motives are.
If you were rich, would old trusted friends mooch, get you to fund their schemes?

Promote your good life by being a resource to people, and some of them will be a resource to you.  The person who gives of what he or she has is the person who can ask others to go out of their way to do him/her a favor.  But we aren’t talking about being a universal blood donor to the vampires of the world – no, we are talking about operating the Law of Reciprocity.  ‘Reciprocity.’  That is our vocabulary word – to reciprocate, to return the graciousness.  In this way you have a small group of reliable companions.

The graciousness is expressed in the Empress and in the Six of Cups.  Empress is the old fertility goddesses, and Six of Cups in Rider Waite is to give, is that moment of sweetness and trusting.  In the middle, we wonder what people are up to, what use they have for us – the Seven of Pentacles, to wonder, and Six of Wands, that friendly enemy who has a use for you and yours, the saboteur.

Meanings and Illustrations:

Empress: There she sits, the sexy female fertility figure.  She is the resource for others, she has an abundance of everything and is slow-moving easygoing and … lazy.

Seven of Pentacles: ‘Huh?’  He wonders whether his plants will bear.

Six of Wands: Here is the mooch, the fella or gal who has a use for you and what you are doing.  This is the con artist:  Even his horse doesn’t trust him, see?

Six of Cups:  There’s the little boy giving his little girl friend some flowers:  sweetness, trust, old friends.

Take care of the people who look out for you, who are straight in a messed up world

Hermit
Justice, Queen of Pentacles, Seven of Cups

Possess the ability to look for and find the sane parts of insane circumstances.
With the ability to analyze and observe, you can straighten out things that are out of control.
She has the ability to see (through the smokescreen) who is entitled to be taken care of.
Take care of the people who look out for you, who are straight in a messed up world.
Possess the ability to look for and find the sane parts of insane circumstances.
Possess the ability to analyze and  straighten out the mess.
When things are is disarray, find a way that you can make things as they should be.

Justice and Hermit are sanity bearers; they both mean ‘right’ in different ways.  Queen of Pentacles and Hermit both mean ‘to take care of’ or ‘to care for’ another person.  Then there’s the chaos card, the Seven of Pentacles.  So straightening out a mess is featured, and taking care of other people is featured.

The project is to cut through the clutter in the environment, yourself, and use the talents you have and the position you are in to nurture the sane and rational side or sides.  Use the abilities you have to make the world around you sane amidst the insanity.

Meanings and Illustrations:

Justice: Love the picture on this card, want a stained glass window of it.  The sword in the hands of Justice and the scales equals ‘law enforcement.’  But the general application is ‘should’ or things the way they are supposed to be, or sanity and balance.

Queen of Pentacles: She is one of the ‘resource’ cards along with the Empress in the spread above this one.  She takes care of – usually her family or her man.  She has the ability.  She has the money or has his money to handle.  ‘Handle’ is a key word to the Tarot Verbatim Rider Waite meaning of this card.

Seven of Cups: Here comes the spoiler, and it is chaos, a mess, out of control.  Clutter of unrelated items in a cloud is the illustration.  The story it is part of is either Pandora’s Box or the Sorcerer’s Apprentice.

Hermit: Analyze, observe, help, care for another person, sanity.  The monk goes out looking for some traveler in distress, to set his situation straight and help him on his way.

Her faith and good opinion of the manipulative man cleans up his act

Queen of Cups
Hierophant, King of Pentacles, Page of Wands

Understand what kind of person the boss is, and think of that as okay.
Her faith and good opinion of the manipulative man cleans up his act.
She sees him as respectable, so he, the gangster type, acts respectable.
A rich bankster feels entitled to a sweet naïve wife who thinks he is a good guy.
Know how the very wealthy whitewash their images.
It’s having a wealthy father that entitles her to this well-dressed good-looking young man.

Part of having a good life for yourself is dealing with reality, and this spread points out that powerful men (or people) have the edge, that not challenging their real manipulative underhanded natures pays off, that we should think about making them look good.

Two of these Rider Waite Tarot cards are about having a respectable image, the Hierophant and the Page of Wands.  The middle card is the ‘powerful bastard, the King of Pentacles, and we end with the sweet loyal wife lady who thinks well of her man.

Meanings and Illustrations:

Hierophant: This is about what the church teaches the commoners, the official cleaned-up story we hear from authority everywhere, including our parents.  Pictured is the pope doing a ceremony.

King of Pentacles: This is the rich powerful manipulative bankster stockbroker politician gangster dude.  He be da man.  Love the grapes embroidered on his clothes and that self-satisfied little smile of his.  We all know this guy, don’t we?

Page of Wands: We are respectable.  We have a good image.  We are as well-dressed as John Gotti, and are well-spoken as well.  Look at us, we are proud of our looks.

Queen of Cups: Here is the true believer, the handmaiden to the official narrative.  People like her can be John Gotti’s secretary and believe John is a good guy, that she understands him.  And she will get a good life for herself doing that.  Interesting that this question brings up this concept.  It must be meaningful to some of you out there.

We asked about making a good life for yourself, and it’s all about minding your own image and the image of the people in your world.  It’s about honoring the people who are straight with you, your true friends, as well as being supportive of, and not crossing, the good image of the bastards in power around you.
