Five of Cups – Strength – Two of Swords

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

                LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES..

.. ….. …     ..

Strength overcomes, handles a situation, prevents harm, quashes opposition, and nips trouble in the bud. You see her hushing up the lion there. Five of Cups is regret, is mourning a loss, is a loss, is sorry, and sometimes means waste. So these two tell a story of a winner and a loser, of overcoming or fixing a situation.

The third Tarot card. And wouldn’t you know we have a negative here. Two of Swords is: no, no way, don’t, stop, block or being blocked, denial. The negative modifier in a three-card spread can apply to either one, and even to each. So we can say not a winner, and we can say not a loser.

Five of Cups and Two of Swords is ‘not sorry’ or ‘no regrets,’ as well as ‘it’s not a loss’ or even not being a loser. (This is where we get the fellow who isn’t sorry she’s got him wrapped around her little finger.)

Strength handles things so well that when Two of Swords joins it, there’s no contest, or she doesn’t have anything to fight, or she can’t handle it, or the ‘demon within,’ the personal issue, isn’t overcome (yet), or she could not prevent it. Put these ideas into passive voice to eliminate the ‘she’ as well. Then you have: there’s nothing to fight, it cannot be handled, overcoming hasn’t happened yet, could not be prevented.

THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE READING: Note that switching to passive voice allow you not to state an actor in the action. ‘It could not be prevented’ is avoiding assigning Strength as a female – avoiding saying ‘SHE could not prevent it. (Remember this.)

Those of you who want to apply the how-to I present here … to see how it’s done in real-life practice … go to the two categories ‘NOW WE SHOW WHERE EACH PHRASE IN EACH SENTENCE COMES FROM’ and ‘HERE ARE PHRASES FOR ALL THREE 2-CARD COMBINATIONS.’ Fine points are found in those two categories that the other visitors don’t need.

Five of Cups is spilled wine … is about loss and waste and regret. Think of Five of Cups as Wishing to god you had or wishing to god you hadn’t. It is one of the alcoholism cards (of course). In the picture you can see ‘water under the bridge,’ which resonates with Five of Cups’ mood.

A bent figure in a black robe, gray sky, head bent, is obviously about mourning, being depressed, feeling like a loser or being a loser, and the loss (represented by spilled wine). By the way, that can be ‘spilled’ body fluid too.

Five of Wands is focusing on the past and turning one’s back all else, represented by the fact the mourning person has his or her back to the full containers (cups) of wine.

Strength is an esoteric card … all kinds of spiritual applications and undertones. Today, no. Today Strength is handling something, overcoming something – even has a fellow ‘wrapped around her little finger.

Here are those everyday (mundane) applications of Strength that we are using today: It’s a battle; overcome; tame him; fighting an addiction; made the opponent stop; getting the upper hand; be firm enough; did not let _ get the best of me; I fixed it; rough on you when you tried to get in my way; a fight on (her) hands; wraps him around her little finger; when you are battling; a stop loss; taking control; you can beat this; stay on top of things; strength of character; fight a battle; handling _ well; fight (him); overcome or fight; beat me up; prevent it; set _ straight; see to it; to fight.

Two of Swords is one of the simpler Rider Waite citizens. What you see is what you get, pretty much. How did she get in that fix, I wonder. It’s the dead of night and she’s in a night-dress, sitting on a stone bench with her back to a body of water, blindfolded, alone (like Eight of Swords), and has counterbalanced heavy double-edged swords crisscrossed in her slender arms. Like Eight of Swords, she is helpless: Putting the blades down is likely to cut her.

So Two of Swords means, like Eight of Swords, ‘can’t.’ It means there’s no way. It means stop, block and blocked, don’t let, no, and all the things that negative modifiers can apply. It means to shut out, or to be shut out – and then that extends to ‘denial.’ (Remember that – I keep forgetting to add it in.)

.

.

.

The past can be a worthy opponent to your peaceful occupation of your home-days. Is this you, ever? We don’t think of regret, guilt, and grief as opponents, but comes a time they do get in the way like that. The actual issue or situation is a separate thing from the affect it has on our feelings, you know? We don’t think of ‘putting them in their place.’ Sometimes we feel we have to beat up on ourselves, have to mourn, have to do a lot of penance for all that water that passed under yesteryear’s bridge and is already out to sea. That we have to ‘serve our time’ or something. Well, those things have become intruders at that point, and it’s time to lock the door already! You may regret straightening out these intrusive past issues, just the way you regret what you finally do to a bully, a mooch, or a nag – also intruders. Well, don’t. It’s your head they’re occupying. See the bad feelings within as the demon within, like an addiction, and clean house. Because it’s about time.

Tarot Readings for You for September 14, 2015 Monday©

GUIDANCE              Dealing with it mentally: Solving it in our head solves it. How many times have you said to yourself, ‘The next time that happens, I’m going to (fill in the blank with whatever your drastic action was to have been)’ … and it never happens again? You never get a chance to squelch it. There’s some natural law in operation here, and it has to do with instinct. For instance, people who take advantage of your good nature know the minute you have lost that good-natured approach. But this law’s operation covers a lot more than that. When you decide within yourself that something shall be, it may take a while, but the change does happen. Willpower and mentally taking control affect your environment.

Tarot Readings: Dealing with It Mentally (Queen of Cups and Strength)

Dealing mentally with this particular situation puts an end to it.

Overcoming in your own head, it doesn’t go any farther.

You have control over your thoughts, and you can stop them.

Don’t just think about it: have the nerve to do it.

Make yourself not think that way anymore.

Make yourself see it’s over.

What I thought was a threat, isn’t.

.. …….…… …..

Tarot Readings: Knowing How to Stop It (Queen of Cups and Two of Swords)

You know how to stop people from getting in the way.

Now that you know, no further harm will be done.

You figure out the problem, apply a solution, and that’s the end of it.

You already know how to keep people from interfering.

She knows how to take hold of a roadblock.

She very firmly says ‘no’ in a nice way.

You’re not going to let that happen; you know how to stop it.

She doesn’t even think about it, she just won’t let that happen.

You prevent something potentially harmful, and don’t even know you did it.

.. …….…… …..

Tarot Readings: Not the One Who Fixes This (Strength and Two of Swords)

It’s not a good idea to make someone behave.

She just isn’t assertive; she is kind and understanding.

She figures it’s not up to her to solve their problems.

You don’t have to solve your own problems when you are being blond.

She’s so sweet, she cannot be stronger than me.

She thinks she did not fix the problem all by herself.

She can’t believe she is the one who pulled this off.

She does not believe in her own ability to handle the pest.

You just know when there’s no way to prevent something.

What stops you from controlling a situation?

She doesn’t think she can overcome.

Queen of Cups – Strength – Two of Swords

.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

                LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES..

.. …….…… …..………...Queen of Cups is thoughts; Strength is fixing it; Two of Swords is stopping it. These interpretations are the backbone of our one-sentence readings today. They belong to ‘you know how to put an end to this’ readings up there.

Queen of Cups and Strength are both intuitive women; Strength is a spiritual adept, and is about overcoming, fixing a situation, and preventing harm or stopping interference. In the picture, she has the moxie to walk up to the attacking beast, put her hands on his mouth to shut up the roar and make him purr instead. Queen of Cups is the thought or knowing; Strength is the doing.

Another Tarot train is Queen of Cups as the nice lady; Strength is being assertive; Two of Swords is ‘not.’  Queen of Cups = Strength + Two of Swords:  The nice lady, unagressive.

Queen of Cups and Two of Swords say ‘didn’t think’ or ‘don’t think.’ They also say ‘She thinks it’s not.’

Strength and Two of Swords is not letting yourself take action against, or not fixing it, which I phrase in the readings as ‘it’s not my job to fix this.’ Strength and Two of Swords are also a problem that cannot be solved.,

.

.

.

.

GET A SINGLE CARD’S MEANINGS: TYPE ITS NAME AND ‘TAROT VERBATIM’ INTO GOOGLE.

Queen of Cups     Here’s that nice lady, the one who thinks highly of her man and understands him, who is loyal and gentle and dreamy, and often naïve. The blond. Queen of Cups is also one of the cards that means thinking, and its slant on that is to figure something out, to know and keep it to yourself, and to know. Next to Strength, we have ‘you know how to handle this’ or ‘handle this mentally’ as the focus of Queen of Cups.

Strength    Some people have a gift for defusing the aggression in a situation. Some people, who are spiritual, trouble avoids them – both bad spirits and bad people – because trouble knows here is someone who can handle us. Those same people instinctively nip upcoming situations in the bud that would interfere with progress. Strength is about this kind of presence a person can have. She has the self-confidence, and the nerve, to put her hands over the mouth of the lion and change his roar to a purr by her touch. ‘Having the touch’ is one of Strength’s phrases.

Two of Swords    This poor girl is in a fix she cannot do anything about. The crossed heavy double-edged swords balance one another but would be awkward, if not dangerous, to put down one at a time. Two of Swords is one of the negative modifiers, often translating ‘don’t’ and ‘can’t,’ and very often meaning ‘not.’ She is the direct opposite of Strength, and of Queen of Cups. The blindfold indicates she cannot see, and being in a nightdress in the middle of the night on a stone bench alone outdoors indicates she is helpless. Two of Swords often means blocked, or means roadblock, partly because of the ‘X’ the swords make, like a railroad crossing sign in the U. S.

.

.

.

.

.

If you think you can, you can; if you think you can’t you can’t. We illustrate that today, pointing out that the solution to a situation occurs first in your head, before you put a hand to it – oftentimes. Sometimes we know how to prevent interference but we don’t do it – we stop ourselves. So we contrast the unassertive stance, the helpless stance, and the can-do stance in today’s messages.
