Sun – The story of Sun is the young’un latches onto a good-sized banner, sneaks out of the house naked in violation of its code of behavior, and is bareback and free-handed on a mean-spirited pony. The focus of Sun can be on the exhilaration of freedom, and of breaking free; can be on the fun of the kid atop the pony; can be on being young, being a brat, being a playboy; can be simply on leaving the home or house; or can be on the reckless behavior and breaking the rules. It’s never on the dire consequences!

Sun is a vacation card. Sun is getting out from under restrictions – and that’s its very common theme. Sun can be sunshine too. Sun can be the callous ‘just wanna have fun’ person (usually male since this is a boy-child).

Sun is one of two ‘child/children’ cards. More often, it appears for a boy, and Six of Cups appears for a girl (or a boy, or for children), but this distinction is by no means reliable.
Nine of Pentacles – She don’t need nobody, as the song goes. Nine of Pentacles is the woman who has the life she wants and is content – who does things her way in her own good time (see that snail!) In the picture, she is an entrepreneur, a businesswoman, and that’s a vineyard (which would be a home-based business, of course). The vineyard and the falcon (and to a lesser extent wearing a robe at noon) suggest she is well off to wealthy, but that is not the point of this Tarot card: her having it made, having the life she wants, is.

Nine of Pentacles is the single woman, and is the sensible woman, the independent woman, and is the woman who lives alone, who owns her turf (house, business, whatever). She tends to have a niche, a skill that sets her apart.
Three of Cups – Convivial, a good word for Three of Cups, an old-fashioned out-of-date word I resurrect here. The story is that women who are friends pool their money and their labor in producing pumpkins for profit, and they succeed together, still celebrating as friends, having drinks to toast their success in business and their continuing friendship. The Three Musketeers.

Three of Cups is the plural of Nine of Pentacles. Nine of Pentacles is the successful independent single businesswoman, while Three of Cups is three businesswomen who are each successful together.

Guidance Happy belated Labor Day! I composed this August 31, so Labor Day was ‘tomorrow’ then. Really, we just describe the celebration of that holiday, and harvest time. We are partying and enjoying life with friends, and taking a break for work together. That’s it.

The Sun is a brat/playboy having fun, and it also means unleashed and uninhibited. The Three of Cups in Rider Waite is sharing life and good times, wealthy women or debutantes, party girls, girls celebrating a joint venture, the sharing of profits. To the left of these two is the ambitious successful dude in his car, the Chariot. To the right is rich living, having all you could want, profit, money, excess. Oh, this isn’t hard to figure out, is it?
Advice is to enjoy your success, to share your success and celebrate yourself and your achievements with your friends. We are more wealthy and more successful than we think we are sometimes.
Meanings and Illustrations:
Chariot: The ambitious successful dude in his car. He has achieved. He is in control. He decides. He is in the driver’s seat. The illustration shows a successful skilled driver of a chariot whose two steeds head in opposite directions, and he gets them to go ahead for him.
Sun: The Sun is a brat/playboy having fun, and it also means unleashed, impulsive, and uninhibited. He is reckless. Having fun extends to being on vacation.
