GUIDANCE Shall I stay and deal with it, or shall I drop out? That is the question. Some people you know not to deal with, but not before you find yourself in the middle of the deal. Your subconscious knowledge prompts you to quit without notice. Or you find the wisdom to change who you deal with in midstream.
.

Three of Pentacles – Getting together to get something done, that’s our Three of Pentacles. “We can work it out” is its song. It has strong well-defined meanings that are very consistent. The ‘getting something done’ is often business, making money or profit, but it is also any kind of normal-range relationship or association of people who have an activity or interest in common, including a club or work. Three of Pentacles is even simply being with, being together – say, the people on the bus.
.
Three of Pentacles is also a justice card because of (1) its ‘each party does his part’ theme and because of (2) the contract in its story. You see the blueprint the clients of the builder hold in their hands as he demonstrates he built their building according to the specifications in it, and is therefore entitled to the last draw provided by the contract they share and agreed to in the beginning.
.
The last draw is his profit, the main payment. Words associated with business today for Three of Pentacles are: make a profit; they paid him; in the market; make money; deal with; transact business; a fair exchange; make money with (her) on the team; make money in the markets; through connections; business deal.
High Priestess represents the feminine principle of receptivity and deepest spiritual knowledge. That arises from being the 2 of the Major Arcanae cards. A woman is seated between the pillars of justice and mercy, key thoughts of the Kabbalah, pillars that were in the holy-of-holies of the Jewish temple. In her lap she holds the Torah, and (probably because of the similar spelling) High Priestess is the card that represents Tarot itself. She holds a book and Tarot is a book. Her spiritual side isn’t doing much today though.
.
In real life, this Rider Waite Tarot card means lady, ladylike, quiet woman, keeping quiet, she knows, she knows and isn’t acting on it, she knows and isn’t divulging, secret, the other woman, feminine, to stay at home, be by yourself alone, private, solitary, sedentary, passive, expert, the spiritual plane, spiritual, the mental plane or mental, book, bookkeeper, unassertive or passive.
.
Because she is seated and anchored to one place, High Priestess is the secretary or office worker (desk job) of the deck. The book makes her the bookkeeper as well (along with Queen of Pentacles, who has money in her lap).
Eight of Cups – It doesn’t get off the ground. It’s canceled or aborted, disrupted, abandoned for something else, or change occurs in any sort of way. Eight of Cups is famous as the ‘not anymore’ that can wrap itself around another card’s meaning.
.
Here is a list of Eight of Cups words and phrases that demonstrates its flexibility in application: avoid; gets you out of something; an escape clause; doesn’t show up; doesn’t get around to; has not happened yet; what not to do; get out (usually immediately); gives up and leaves; as soon as (she) is out of it; in absentia; goes out of the way to; change happens; quits doing; not anymore; abandons for another.
.
Because Eight of Cups is the kind of not-happening card he is, it also functions as one of the negators (negative modifiers of another card’s meaning). We have a lot of that in today’s sentences: doesn’t do it; no; it’s not; you don’t; don’t; don’t do that; she isn’t; don’t be.

What a great example today of all the things three cards can say! All sorts of unrelated things, and I could have dug up another batch easily. Just read those sentences!
.
High Priestess
does not act, and
Eight of Cups
avoids or
bails out.
Three of Pentacles goes ahead with
the deal, though. I see the phrase ‘
fish or
cut bait’ here.
.
Another story that jumps out at a Tarot cognoscenti (expert) here is being in the know,
High Priestess, and
not (
Eight of Cups)
sharing (
Three of Pentacles) or
not
using the
knowledge to
get something effected (
done). Since ‘The action goes both ways’ in Tarot spreads, that’s also
knowing
not to
be a part of getting it done –
knowing better. Or even
not quite
knowing enough and going ahead with
the deal – because, of course,
Eight of Cups can represent the ‘
not quite enough’ part. (Context – the other cards and the history – will say which it is.)
.
Another see-it-right-away story for these three Rider Waite Tarot cards is keeping to yourself or
staying home and
avoiding
meeting with them. Or
the lady is ‘
stood up’ on a
date – he
does not show for
meeting with
her. Or someone just
wisely not
showing up with the others.
.
Digging a little deeper, we have a meeting of people in
the middle of the night who
have some special knowledge. (In real life Tarot experience, that is often doctors.) Or
the gal
gets it done
without
other people participating.
.
These three cards can simply say she
doesn’t
know
these people too. Or
she knows
these are
not
the people she is to meet.

I think I will sit tight and wait it out, avoid joining in with the others, and just see what they do. That way I didn’t have any part in whatever they are up to – I didn’t even know or get together with them. I waive whatever the reward of their endeavor is but I escape being a part of it. Escape is the better part of wisdom in this scenario.

Wheel of Fortune – We secretly wish for Wheel of Fortune and Nine of Cups when we reach into our Tarot deck in search of information about our fate … because Wheel of Fortune is good fate, is Lady Luck, is the best result, the best thing happening, is a profit or a windfall, and is even a miracle. Yes! Wheel of Fortune is getting rich quick, or just getting rich, is the payoff, is rewarding.
.
This illustration represents the idea that coincidences that ‘make our day’ are affected by both divine and infernal spiritual entities. The four letters in Hebrew of God’s name alternate with Apollo’s ‘Rota,’ which is the Wheel of Fortune (destiny in operation) in myths of that day. Various otherworldly critters which appear in those myths grace Wheel of Fortune outside the roulette-looking Wheel.
.
In spite of the mostly bad-guy critters, in real Tarot operation, Wheel of Fortune is winning, luck and lucky, destiny and miracle, best results and best-anything, wonderful opportunity (and wonderful, and opportunity, separately).
Three of Pentacles – Note that Three of Pentacles gets around: It shows up in everyone’s spreads more than other cards do. Tarot is a consistent violator of Laws of Random Distribution (probability), and Three of Pentacles is here to swear to that. Three of Pentacles translates ‘relationship’ – any kind of relationship, and translates ‘meeting’ – any kind of meeting. It also means to agree, and to get together. Those are the meanings that prompt it to show up so often in your spreads. (Three of Pentacles is the ‘Mother Card’ in the Email Training I am writing for you precisely because it plays well with other Tarot citizens. Sign up for the newsletter if you would like to hear more when the lessons are released.)
.
The illustration shows the man who built the cathedral meeting with the nun and priest who hired him. The building is finished, and he is there to prove to his clients that he did his job as agreed, and is worthy of his pay, his final draw which represents his profit. That’s how Three of Pentacles gets its money transaction, business dealings, and its profit meanings.
.
The three people are meeting as friends who work together (as a team), and who are in agreement with one another. So Three of Pentacles is often about three people meeting, and it is present when people are ‘putting their heads together’ in a mutual project or a joint enterprise. It is also about any kind of meeting – friends getting together, even proceedings in a lawsuit.
.
They are meeting about a real estate contract, which makes Three of Pentacles the lead card for any kind of real estate sale, deal, or process. It is also a support card for a legal theme. So it appears for people getting together about litigation, or appearing in court to pay a fine. (Six of Pentacles is also paying a fine if you ask about that.)
High Priestess – This High Priestess is one of those cards who have a lot of meanings related only by their picture and their story. First, she represents ‘the feminine principle,’ an esoteric (occult) concept. The feminine is inactive on the physical plane and active on the mental/spiritual plane, in a nutshell. (Magician, the masculine principle, is the opposite.) This is where we get The Lady meanings, the meanings about being quiet, knowing all, being spiritually wise, being the expert. She who knows all.
.
High Priestess is sedentary and solitary, private and quiet. She is sort of inert: She doesn’t tell, either. She is behind the scene, and is known for staying in one place. A homebody, or housebound. (She can even show up for being in a wheelchair once in a while.)
.
High Priestess will appear for a secretary (sedentary job), a bookkeeper (has a book in her lap), and even The Other Woman (behind the scene, laying low).

We have a lot of that in today’s sentences: doesn’t do it; no; it’s not; you don’t; don’t; don’t do that; she isn’t; don’t be.
.

LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES..
What a great example today of all the things three cards can say! All sorts of unrelated things, and I could have dug up another batch easily. Just read those sentences!
.
High Priestess
does not act, and
Eight of Cups
avoids or
bails out.
Three of Pentacles goes ahead with
the deal, though. I see the phrase ‘
fish or
cut bait’ here.
.
Another story that jumps out at a Tarot cognoscenti (expert) here is being in the know,
High Priestess, and
not (
Eight of Cups)
sharing (
Three of Pentacles) or
not
using the
knowledge to
get something effected (
done). Since ‘The action goes both ways’ in Tarot spreads, that’s also
knowing
not to
be a part of getting it done –
knowing better. Or even
not quite
knowing enough and going ahead with
the deal – because, of course,
Eight of Cups can represent the ‘
not quite enough’ part. (Context – the other cards and the history – will say which it is.)
.
Another see-it-right-away story for these three Rider Waite Tarot cards is keeping to yourself or
staying home and
avoiding
meeting with them. Or
the lady is ‘
stood up’ on a
date – he
does not show for
meeting with
her. Or someone just
wisely not
showing up with the others.
.
Digging a little deeper, we have a meeting of people in
the middle of the night who
have some special knowledge. (In real life Tarot experience, that is often doctors.) Or
the gal
gets it done
without
other people participating.
.
These three cards can simply say she
doesn’t
know
these people too. Or
she knows
these are
not
the people she is to meet.
.
I could go on, but invite you to just look at the NOW WE SHOW WHERE EACH PHRASE IN EACH SENTENCE COMES FROM section of this site and see for yourself.

Guidance centers around the importance of trust in a business deal or relationship. The more trust there is among the people who get together to make a business, the more likely the enterprise is to succeed. This is true of a couple and this is true of a family. Even a nation whose leaders reflect the values and lifestyles of citizens functions better. A person who has the ability to get people to work together trusting one another is a person whose enterprise succeeds.

SOME LEGAL PHRASES
Immediately apparent are legal phrases like fiduciary relationship (
Six of Cups and Three of Pentacles) which I did not use, enforceable contract or agreement (
Ace of Swords and Three of Pentacles), beneficiary to a contract (
Six of Cups and Three of Pentacles), which also reads ‘agreement re child support.’
Three of Pentacles is a contract or agreement and is also court proceedings, as well as a real estate closing.
Ace of Swords is to enforce, and is an order.
Six of Cups is trust (fiduciary) and also giving an award.
Anytime you see Six of Cups , there’s romance and/or children.
Six of Cups + Three of Pentacles = Romantic Relationship. And here’s High Priestess
, the Lady as well as the Other Woman, the quiet one who knows all and is unassertive (except
Ace of Swords might impinge on that as assertiveness).
Then High Priestess is spiritual or the spiritual plane , Three of Pentacles is dealing with
and Ace of Swords is power
. You get power when you deal with the spiritual plane.
.
Ace of Swords Foremost, absolute, total or totally, must, force or make or order, enforce, assert, achieve or win a victory or ‘aced,’ conquer or dominate, discipline or willpower, take matters into your own hands, and a weapon. Ace of Swords owns that groove, and its very fitting illustration in Rider Waite Tarot is a hand grasping a sword which is crowned with a victory wreath. Of course with total victory comes total defeat on the opposite side, and once in a while that is the meaning, but not often unless there is a theme that establishes that meaning. Ace of Swords is black-and-white, no gray zones.
Six of Cups has a few main meanings, more than most. Romance, children, childhood, being good, childlike, innocence, the past, nostalgia, sweetness and the good old days, history and olden times. Gives, a gift, receives, trust and fiduciary, beneficiary, benefit. Then it speaks at times of real estate too – an old house, a quaint house or cottage, an apartment building.
All these meanings arise from the little boy giving the little girl flowers in front of a quaint-looking large building, and the kids are dressed in clothes from the olden times.
Three of Pentacles Very pronounced main meanings for this Rider Waite Tarot citizen. Relationship, meeting, deal, agreement, mutual, contract, negotiate, each party doing his/her/its part, get together. Those are the main ones. Incidental ones include an inspection, (final) payment, real estate closing, get along with.
Pictured is an architect doing an inspection of his work with his clients who have the blueprint in their hands. The final draw, the largest payment which is the profit, is his when this inspection is approved.
High Priestess represents the feminine principle of receptivity and deep knowledge. A woman is seated between the pillars of justice and mercy, key thoughts to the Kabbalah, with the sliver moon beneath her feet. In real life, this Rider Waite Tarot card means lady, ladylike, quiet woman, keeping quiet, she knows, she knows and isn’t acting on it, she knows and isn’t divulging, the other woman, feminine, sedentary, passive, knowing the unknown or the secret, expert, the spiritual plane, spiritual, the mental plane or mental, book, bookkeeper, unassertive or passive, to know about.

Advice centers around the importance of trust in a business deal or relationship.
Is this the first time you come here? Well … what to do:
*Go to Advice above which is a summary of the Messages. (Advice is everyone’s favorite part.)
*Go to Group Analytical Tarot Reading below. One or more of those sentences has something to say to you. Intuitively pick those out. They are about you and the people around you. They are about today and the days around it. (It is a group message like a horoscope, except Tarot isn’t based on someone else’s birth data, so it can be specific, accurate, detailed and direct. Our experiment here is “How much more accurate is it?”)
Did you come here for your predictions? – You are done now – See you tomorrow.
Without a question to focus the answer, four cards can mean contradictory things especially when the Spread has a card that negates other cards. Without a question also the pronouns in a group reading are more flexible, especially in some of these Rider Waite Tarot spreads. When a pronoun is in parentheses, feel very free to substitute. The question in a ‘real’ individual reading supplies at least half the information!
GROUP ANALYTICAL TAROT READING Tell the visitors here something useful and meaningful to them. Romantic Perspectives (Six of Cups + Three of Pentacles) A quiet achievement: trust is in our relationship with one another. She was assertive as a young lady but is passive in this relationship. The girlish young lady controls the relationship. She has the very best romantic relationship. She is so sweet and feminine, he has to have a relationship with her. Has to meet her, she is his childhood sweetheart. The very best love relationship she ever has had: He does his part. This is the very best love relationship; it’s with a lady who does her part. She has to trust he will do his part. You have to do your part in a romance with her. The most romantic relationship a girl could ever be in. The most romantic relationship that could ever be, with the gal. The lady has to trust you to have a relationship. She is that quiet feminine type of woman who is a dictator of the relationship. She comes across as a childlike woman but makes them be sweet to her in a relationship. . Enforceable Contract or Agreement (Ace of Swords + Three of Pentacles) She asserts her rights as the beneficiary to the agreement/contract. She has an enforceable agreement/contract as to the children. Parties to the contract have to trust the expert. The court awarded the woman the victory. The court enforces the agreement to pay the lady. She enforces the contract on the point she did her part in the past. . Women is given her reward (Six of Cups + High Priestess) She is given an achievement award at the meeting. A lady who does her part has to be rewarded. The expert has to be paid as part of the deal. She is paid for what she knows; it has to be awarded to her. They have to give the woman what they agreed to. . Dealing with People you Trust in Business (Six of Cups + Three of Pentacles) She knows how to get people together who have full trust in one another. Quietly knowing you are dealing with people you can trust is a victory. She has to trust (they) will do (their) part. You have to know the people you deal with to trust them. Woman Who Knows Kids (Six of Cups + High Priestess) She has the best relationship with the kids. She makes the kids do their part. She knows how to deal quietly and assertively with kids. She knows how to make the kids get along together. . Spiritual Perspective, Spiritual Plane (High Priestess) Clean intentions are a must, to be dealing on or with the spiritual plane. Dealing on the spiritual plane gives one the power. The past orders your dealings with others from behind the scene. You have to know about your childhood to deal with it. . Real Estate Contract Closes (Three of Pentacles + Six of Cups) Her victory, the real estate deal on the house closes and she gets her commission. She wins when she asserts her right to the real estate commission. They have to give the woman what they agreed to. She is the expert on real estate, so they will close on the old house. An inspection of an old house by an expert is a must.

. MEANINGS AND ILLUSTRATIONS: OBSERVATION OF THE SPREAD Each of these cards has many main meanings. So right away you know you are going to have lots of different messages here. Immediately apparent are legal phrases like fiduciary relationship (which I did not use), enforceable contract or agreement, passive beneficiary to a contract, agreement re child support. Three of Pentacles is a contract or agreement and is also court proceedings, as well as a real estate closing. Ace of Swords is to enforce, and an order. Six of Cups is trust (fiduciary) and also an award. Anytime you see Six of Cups, there’s romance and probably children. Six of Cups + Three of Pentacles = Romantic Relationship. And here’s High Priestess, the Lady as well as the Other Woman, the quiet one who knows all and is unassertive (except the Ace of Swords might impinge on that as assertiveness). Going on down the line, Three of Pentacles is a real estate closing as well as a contract and an agreement, and Six of Cups is a house – often an old house, a quaint house or cottage, an apartment building. It also means to receive so it could refer to the commission of the real estate closing. Then High Priestess is spiritual or the spiritual plane, Three of Pentacles is dealing and Ace of Swords is power. Three of Pentacles + Six of Cups is also dealing with the past or with childhood. Lots of stories today. MEANINGS AND ILLUSTRATIONS: INDIVIDUAL RIDER WAITE TAROT CARDS

He is really doing a major sales pitch here to get you to do something for him as if it were a fair exchange: Don’t do it.
Five of Swords
High Priestess, Three of Pentacles, Two of Cups
This spread is a great example of how the question would change the meaning of the cards. If it’s love, the language goes one way, and if it’s business the language is very different.
Romance Perspective:
Keep your ears open and be quiet meeting with someone: He feels the need to coerce you or to be one-up on you because of your influence on him.
He is really doing a major sales pitch here to get you to do something for him as if it were a fair exchange: Don’t do it.
He is seducing her and intimidating her to be the passive lady in relationship to him.
She is being quietly seductive to get this bastard to do his part in the deal/relationship.
She is in the relationship to meet a third party through this pushy guy.
He intimidates her into having a sexual affair with him.
She is attracted to bad guys to have relationships with.
Bad guys are attracted to her because she is passive in relationships.
This smart alec has a love affair going with this ladylike woman.
If you want to associate with her, you have to put up with her overbearing mooch.
Business Perspective:
She knows a deal with him involves being taken advantage of, but she, too, has an agenda of her own.
A third party is taking a cut of the profit in this deal – a silent participant.
She is in the deal that is disadvantageous to her to meet the third party.
He engineered a deal in which he gets the lion’s share of the profits, but it is influenced behind the scene in secret.
In business deals with women, he gets taken advantage of through seduction or sexual attraction.
She quietly influences him – the robber baron – to favor her in this deal
She uses her influence to get them to meet with the hotshot edgy guy.
She uses her influence to get the guy who ripped them off to meet with them.
The deal is dictated for her to get a cut of profit without active participation in it.
He is using her to entice people into doing business with him and be taken advantage of.
She knows how to make business deals mutual between parties who vie to take advantage of one another.
She can get these two sharks into mutually profitable contracts.
He takes advantage of the real estate broker dealing behind her back.
Profits in this contract are siphoned off: Parties are coerced into agreeing to share proceeds with a nonparticipant.
If you want to do business with her, he makes you go through him.
These are very interesting cards together. *In the middle, we have the Three of Pentacles that in the Rider Waite deck means deal, relationship, doing business, meeting (often of three parties), contract and agreement. *It is followed by two cards of being taken advantage of. The first of those, the Two of Cups, is about the influence of a third party who is unknown to the others … again, three people together … and suggests being used or mooched. It is also a love affair or seduction where someone gets used. *The other, the Five of Swords is being outsmarted and/or intimidated by a pushy bastard or thug who rips you off or takes foul advantage. Say, the hotshot stock broker. *Then, the first card, the High Priestess, in the company of these others, suggests a nonparticipant, a very quiet party, a secret, behind-the-scenes deal, someone who is very knowledgeable and very quiet about expertise.
* The first card drawn is the High Priestess, the last is the Five of Swords.
Coercion is the subject of both Five of Swords and Two of Cups. Behind-the-scene secretive influence is suggested by both the High Priestess and the Two of Cups. And there’s ‘the deal/relationship’ between those influences.
The perfect storm.
Advice is to be aware of an innocent-seeming interaction or meeting with someone who has an agenda you aren’t aware of, but could be. Somebody is ‘up to something.’ Somebody wants a favor, a loan, the car keys, to move in ‘for two weeks,’ etc. or wants to sell you something you will be sorry about later. Advice is to smell the rat.
High Priestess: Usually a woman, but sometimes generalized into more than that. This is someone who is quietly in the background and is informed; someone or something that is classified or secret. It indicates ‘not doing,’ not acting. The stereotypical passive lady who may manage to be controlling but at least is very knowing about what is really going on. Illustration shows the lady sitting quietly in the background, symbols of occult expertise all around her.
Three of Pentacles in the Rider Waite deck means deal, relationship, doing business, meeting (often of three parties), contract and agreement. Illustration shows three parties sealing a real estate deal.
Two of Cups is about the influence of a third party (or a factor) who is unknown to the others … again, three people together … and suggests being used or mooched. It is also a love affair or seduction where someone gets used. It suggests one kind of subtle coercion that the Five of Swords suggests the other kind. Illustration in the Rider Waite Two of Cups is a caduceus overshadowing a couple ‘pledging their troth.’
Five of Swords is being outsmarted and/or intimidated by a pushy bastard or thug who rips you off or takes foul advantage. Say, the hotshot stock broker. Say, the pool shark. Say the guy who wants a piece of you. Say a mugger or robber. It also means to ‘pull something off’ or to get even sometimes.
Question for you: There are fewer visitors on the weekends. Stefanie is going to see whether people catch up on weekend material come Monday. If not, should I just put one issue out for each weekend, instead of two? Are we wasting material?
Stef: I’d also like to know if any of you go back to read previous comments, especially Emily’s.
Judgment
Ace of Wands Magician Knight of Wands
He must get going and do it now, must initiate the change.
He is the one who must hurry back.
He’s got to get this new phase on the road, get started with it.
Big news: He is in a hurry to do it now.
He is ordered to run over there and do it immediately.
He wins – record breaking speed.
Gets a promotion and is transferred for that big accomplishment he did.
He’s got to recover in a hurry.
Doing this one thing speeds his recovery.
Dashing off to a whole new life he made for himself.
Got to hurry up and do it again.
He has to leave town to start this new life.
The most important thing to do is to rush into the new consciousness.
It says you have to go this fast on the road, so he does.
What he has to do is rush things back to they way they were.
Well, this is all about a man. We have a man on the way up, getting something very important done, something that is big news. He is getting it done in a hurry. Maybe he is doing it again. But, by golly it is he who is doing it. He is making a big change in a hurry.
Advice? I guess, to get out of the dude’s way, or, if you are the dude, get on with it.
Ace of Wands: Got to. The most important – this one thing. Big. An order. Win. This is the assertive stance: It’s an order. Shows the hand with the board in it.
Magician: In case you miss the previous card, this one too is a male taking action. It shows a magician about to make something happen with the tools of his trade.
Knight of Wands: There is goes, on his way up and out of town, in pursuit today of his success, his new life. He is dashing off in pursuit of something to use that big stick on, yes?
Judgment: Up out of the graves. This is a new life if ever there was one. Recovery, the big announcement, a change. Revival too.
