Advice   When business is done on a shoestring,  the art of the deal requires pondering carefully whether there is enough benefit for each of the involved parties to perform their part in the contract.   Meeting to negotiate that could be very confidential.   In a love relationship or love affair,  the same question being asked pays off:   Is there enough in this affair for my partner to have reason to do his/her part to suit me?

Love Relationship Perspective (Lovers + Three of Pentacles)

If two can live as cheaply as one, let’s make a deal.
Doesn’t seem to be much love in our relationship.
How can you have a relationship with a stingy partner?
Maybe just meet in secret as lovers.
I wonder whether he/she has a secret love affair.

Business on a Shoestring (Four of Pentacles + Three of Pentacles)

Isn’t really much of a business the partners are in.
I think the two of us can run this business on a shoestring.
Perhaps you can negotiate a lower price with them.
I doubt the couple can afford to close on the real estate contract.
I think you both can save money on this deal.
What if the two of you negotiate with them in private?
There doesn’t seem to be much in the deal for the two of them.

No love lost between the partners but somehow they are still in business.
You think the love affair should be kept secret from the business people.
I think this is a confidential business done in person and in secret.
Are you doing business with a silent partnership?

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

Two of our Rider Waite Tarot folks are about doubt and reservations, about suspicions and secrets: Seven of Pentacles doubts, wonders, ponders and ruminates, while Four of Pentacles has reservations, plays its cards (no pun!) close to its chest, is in secrecy about, and is short of – short of money most often.

The other two are about relationship and connection. Lovers is a connection and of course a love relationship; also partners and two people who are together in something. Three of Pentacles is about a meeting of the minds in a deal or relationship, and about negotiating.

Is there enough benefit, or not, in this deal to suit each of the parties so that they do their parts? – is our theme. Robert Ringer wrote a best seller about this. It is called Looking Our for Number One, and is a great handbook for the New York approach to life, the art of the deal.

LEARN TAROT BY THE PICTURES

Seven of Pentacles shows a grower wondering whether cucumbers will bear. Does he have both genders of the plants?: No way to know. So speculates, wonders, ponders, uncertainty, unsure, suspicion … that is the groove of this Rider Waite Tarot citizen.

Four of Pentacles Money and secrecy.  Hanging onto his coins for dear life, outside of the town, closed body language … that stare ahead of the proud guilty party reminds me of the attitude of the fellow who said to the whole senate  ‘No, I won’t tell you where the trillions went.’  What a grinding moment of truth:  I loved it!

Lovers Two people who are in it together as lovers or partners or just a pair. There’s the angel (We are not using him today) for protection, oversight, looking out for people. There’s the Adam and Eve as lovers with the volcano for passion. We aren’t using the rest of its symbolism. Today it’s lovers or partners, your choice.

Three of Pentacles Meet to seal a deal, to negotiate and agree upon who gets what and who does what: I do my part, you do your part, and we both profit: That’s a Relationship. Pictured is an architect on his final inspection before he gets his profit from the clients. The blueprint demonstrates he did his part.
