Tarot Readings for You for July 8, 2015 Wednesday©
GUIDANCE Both friends invite you to their side of their dispute, and here you are acting as if you agree with each of them. Today is about being friendly in a situation that isn’t openly hostile, so there’s room for saving face. Our story is also about the hurt of being misled, and about things that are good in one way and bad in another, that we are dealing with. Our story is about how we do our best to be the good guy, even when we aren’t quite that, as we watch everybody else doing the same. It’s called civilization, I think, and good manners, but it’s really all about face and saving face.

Three of Swords – Knight of Cups – Six of Wands
.
LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES
.………..………. .……..…….. Three of Swords covers fights, hostility and enmity, hurt, injury, damage, heart trouble, divorce, being fired or quitting, betrayals and double-crosses. It mostly focuses on the experience of those things. Six of Wands is also a betrayal or double-cross, also involves hostility and enmity. It focuses on the social scene in which those things take place, and it strongly means pretense – putting a good respectable face on the skulduggery. We look, therefore, to the card between them. Is it a rescue card?
Depends. Knight of Cups is that card, and it is the friend, helping, offer or suggestion and acceptance, the nice guy, the boyfriend, the diplomat or peacemaker, the cooperative stance.
Note that Knight of Cups is the agreeable fellow, and Six of Wands is misleading people to act against their self-interest, so you have a picture here of a good-natured fellow or person going along with something that is against his or her self-interest.
So we have stories about the friend and the enemy interacting and playacting. You can feel self-justification ooze out of this spread; you can feel flurries of whitewashed self-interest. But no actual harm is in our story, just the positioning, the face and the face-off.
Three of Swords…… Three of Swords is obviously heartache and betrayal, pain and breaking up: A heart with three swords through it, and a storm background. You see that at first sight. Quitting or being fired is not as obvious. It’s that simple.
Knight of Cups.…….Knight of Cups is the glad-hand, the friendly guy who accepts and makes suggestions. He makes the first move; he helps and is a friend. The wings of Mercury the Messenger are on his helmet, and the pastel colors and relaxed curved lines of this Rider Waite card tell us it is in the warm fuzzy theme. Unlike the other knights’ horses, his is stationary, pawing the ground the way horses do when they have been standing for a while. Horse is well-groomed and cute like a merry-go-round horsey. So is his rider.
.
Six of Wands.……..Six of Wands is the most opaque card in the deck. (Two of Cups is not far behind him.) This illustrates the kidnap by Arabs of King Richard III in a battle King Richard won. It was staged by his next-in-line-to-the-throne buddy, who made sure Richard never left captivity. So Six of Wands is a false victory, a major betrayal, things looking just fine when doom looms. The horse winking at you is a big hint that the victory portrayed in Six of Wands is a false one.
.
So we have stories about the friend and the enemy interacting and playacting. We have stories about an affectionate guy who is misled and his heard is broken. We have you being invited to join in someone’s fight against something. You can feel self-justification in some places ooze out of this spread; you can feel flurries of whitewashed self-interest. But no actual harm is in our story, just the positioning, the face and the face-off. My favorite part is ‘Loving your enemies feels so two-faced!’
.
