GUIDANCE Reminding myself that the way an individual usually is … is not the way that person always is. Even a con artist has honest moments. So stay tuned for your next exciting episode. She’s dating this unethical madman who drives like a fiend when his friends are in his car … and with her, he’s a gentleman not only on the road but wherever he is with her. You do business with a good Christian, and you get screwed royally. A person who doesn’t drink get tipsy with less liquor. That kind of quirky thing is our ponder for the day.

Two of Cups – The funky winged lion’s-head with a human-like face atop intertwined snakes is a very old tool of magic spells dating back at least to Egypt. Moses, who was brought up as an Egyptian nobleman, used a form of it when snakes were biting people, to prevent that. A spell is designed to affect events (for good or ill) without being detected – hence, Two of Cups’ basic meaning is interference in what is happening, and is being affected by some outside force or factor. This gives this Two of Cups card a very very general meaning about things like ‘getting involved in something that’s over your head,’ which is exactly what the picture shows! It will take a while for you to apply it skilfully.
.
Some common examples of this ‘interference from outside’ that Two of Cups will be telling you about in your spreads are these: A nosy person butting into one’s business; self-serving manipulative maneurvers; being under the influence (of anything); phone calls that interfere in your work or what you are doing; the schemes of companies you do business with or work for; getting involved in anything and discovering how it really is; side effects of anything, including medicines or treatments (vaccines, etc.); taxes; debt; hormones or other metabolic interference – even diabetes, or one’s genes. I’m sure you can add to this list now! Two of Cups can be the social climber or the relative of your spouse who figures you’re going to pay his/her rent.
.
The spell here interferes with a couple who is announcing their marriage, ‘pledging their troth,’ which was a formal and binding ritual back when marriage was was not just an opinion. So Two of Cups is a romance card, but with dark overtones. One or both of these partners may have an undisclosed purpose for their relationship, or an undisclosed third party benefits somehow. Or the caduceus may represent jealousy.
.
But not to worry: The caduceus often expresses sexual desire, sexual love affair, good oldfashioned lust. Along the same lines, watch for this card to mean addiction, obsession and dependency – not necessarily in the bad end of the spectrum of those things. Think a deep and abiding interest or loyalty to anything at all – sports teams, an idea, a movement, one’s background.
.
Two of Cups often is about using another person, deceiving, mooching … draining another person’s energy, or getting control of another person.
.
Six of Wands has similar meanings, and similar applications, and it applies to groups (the loyalty, the mindsets, etc.) more often than Two of Cups does.
.
Two of Pentacles – A juggler in an odd costume dances as he juggles – all sorts of movements going on. In the background, ships are tossed on a (hopefully!) fantasy sea. The sign for ‘eternity,’ for endlessly repeating numbers like the decimal for one-third (.3333 … ) is around the plates he juggles. Timing and movement are two subjects of Two of Pentacles.
.
The timing is both sporadic – on-again and off-again and unstable in the part of the card that shows the ships – and smoothly continual in tha upfront part that shows the sure movements of the dancing juggler’s performance. This contrast gives rise to conflicting or clashing meanings for Two of Pentacles. Usually the question (if there is one) and the neighboring Tarot cards indicate which applies in that given spread.
.
Watch for this card to describe movements, all sorts of movements: up and down, round and roung, back and forth, twisting and turning, whirling … so it’s no surprise it also shows up for dizziness and nausea!
.
It’s timing we pay attention to here today. Part of the time, we are about once in a while, off-and-on, two-timing, one after another, sometimes, and occasionally. Part of the time, we are about the continual timing that goes along with smooth movements: you keep getting; in the process of; he keeps being, most of the time, and so often.
.
We also use the ‘silly’ part of Two of Pentacles categories of meanings: this unstable person; gets silly; something so unstable and flaky; makes a fool of; gets dizzy from.
.
Are you looking for the whole Two of Pentacles spectrum? – just Google ‘Two of Pentacles Tarot Verbatim’ and you will be looking at Two of Pentacles’ appearances in the archives of our site here.
Hermit – And here’s another Tarot card whose picture showers us with various meanings that are related only by its illustration. Here’s its story. An elderly monk goes out looking for travelers on a snowy night on a mountain road. He is a kind helpful caring person, a doctor of medicine, and he brings these travelers to where he stays (hermitage, monastery) to feed them a nice warm meal and provide a nice warm bed for them. Now, look at the elements of that story: This is the outline of Hermit’s meanings!
.
He is out looking for travelers, so today Hermit means ‘we can see’ and ‘goes out looking for.’
.
This monk is elderly, so we translate: such an old fella; an old person; and old guy.
.
Monks are honest, so we say that about three times in our sentences. Monks are kind, devoted, helpful. We use those phrases. They are on the path; and they are celibate. Check, we use those. Hermit also means ‘monogamous’ and ‘true to you’ these days – sometimes even ‘sexually straight’ or ‘asexual.’
.
A service monk like this fellow is a stable person, a wise man. Check. Hermit also translates sober and sobriety – the main card for that.
.
Another meaning for Hermit, kind of off label, rises from his going out looking. He can represent an investigation, a witness, watching something, surveillance, and even being nosy. Today Two of Cups brings out the ‘nosy’ part.
.

… .. ….. ………
You can see a picture of ‘It could go either way’ with Two of Pentacles in the middle – and on its left is some sort of chicanery or scheme in Two of Cups; and on its right is honesty and loyalty in the form of Hermit.
.
This same picture is drawn with Six of Wands and Six of Pentacles, which appears tomorrow (and was created previous to this). Six of Pentacles is being fair, and Six of Wands is taking foul advantage. So Tarot could be talking up to somebody who is listening to this.
.
Another contrast here is the wise old man, Hermit, and the silliness of Two of Pentacles. Yet another contrast is the grand sexual love affair of Two of Cups and the celibacy (or monogamy) of Hermit. These two cards also contrast loyalty (Hermit of course) and disloyalty (Two of Cups).
.
When you pair Two of Cups and Two of Pentacles, you get sexual rhythm, with Two of Cups being ‘sexual’ and Two of Pentacles being ‘rhythm,’ since it means timing and movement. You also get ‘one sex partner after the other,’ or ‘one love affair after the other,’ and either that old man is the lover, or he’s watching. Two of Pentacles means one after the other because of the repeated acts of the juggling.
.
So today we are simply saying sometimes you are among friends, Hermit, and sometimes you are among people who have some use for you, Two of Cups. Using the core meaning of Two of Cups, which is interference of various sorts, we describe: encountering one disruption or interference after another; watching the disruption of a couple’s life; encountering one interference after another on your Path.

Every sensible person who is of a certain age can look back and say ‘What was I thinking?’ about more than one period or episode of their lives. He’s such a straight-arrow to be in such a tawdry silly love affair. And what was I thinking when I let my friend persuade me to buy what she was selling? You sure don’t have to be looking for trouble, for trouble to find you … but you can move on from there when you can see the road again.

Two of Pentacles – Hermit – Ten of Wands
.
LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING
LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES
………..………………...All three of these Rider Waite Tarot cards are in motion. Two of Pentacles covers just about any motion except going in a straight line. Hermit is being on the Path, on the road, taking a trip, and looking where you are going. Ten of Wands is eventually getting there – it’s hard going, step by step.
Hermit is sensible, realistic, objective. To his left, Two of Pentacles is silly, manic, erratic. To his right, Ten of Wands is overloaded, depressed, and overwhelmed. Now we have contrast.
Hermit and Ten of Wands are both slow-going. Hermit is old; Ten of Wands is tired and overworked.
We make generous use of Hermit’s ancillary (extra) meanings. Hermit is a friend, so Ten of Wands makes that an old (long term) friend; and Two of Pentacles makes that a friend who livens up the depression coming out of Ten of Wands for friend-Hermit.
And Hermit is on a road trip, so Two of Pentacles makes that a winding road, and Ten of Wands makes that a long road – so you have a long winding road.
Hermit is the truth; Two of Pentacles is silly; Ten of Wands is heavy. So the truth can be either silly or heavy. (I like that one.)
Hermit is famous for caring, being devoted, looking out for other people. Two of Pentacles and Ten of Wands make that ‘the ridiculous (Two of Pentacles) extreme (Ten of Wands) of that.
Two of Pentacles and Hermit also say ‘friend through ups and downs.’
Ten of Wands bears a burden, which makes ‘a burden on my friends.’
Hermit is a (realistic) perspective, which allows ‘come full circle’ for Two of Pentacles and Ten of Wands.
There are more of these. Today’s spread is rich with phrase-makers.
.
.
.
GET A SINGLE CARD’S MEANINGS: TYPE ITS NAME AND ‘TAROT VERBATIM’ INTO GOOGLE.
Two of Pentacles Elements of its illustration give Two of Pentacles a broad spectrum of phrases, some of which are contradictory. The contradiction arises, necessarily, no way around it, from the steady controlled rhythm of movement in the foreground (of the juggler’s performance) and the erratic out-of-control tossing waves the ships have to deal with.
Another category of meanings is birthed from the get-up the juggler wears as a costume. Here is where you get silly, ridiculous, and such words.
……
Hermit Hermit is yet another Rider Waite card whose illustration admits of a wide spectrum of otherwise-unrelated words and phrases. You take any part of Hermit’s story and make a Tarot book of it. Hermit’s story is that he is a service monk (doesn’t just contemplate). He is out on a cold mountain path looking for travelers who could use a meal and a bed, and possibly some wise guidance. His clothing indicates he is a doctor. He is an old man. It is night, so Hermit is about traveling overland at night. Hermit is also about ‘he comes to you; he is looking for you’ which is useful in love questions.
Ten of Wands Ten of Wands you can relate to and intuit many of its applications. He is bent under the weight of the load of boards – overwhelmed, overloaded, slow going, even depressed (the being bent down). What doesn’t show in the picture is that Ten of Wands decided, on purpose, to ‘do it all in one load,’ a common choice we make. Also, that he is expected to make it.
.
.
.
I’m out looking for something, going around in circles for a long time. So long that, now that I’m older, I see the light and get myself on my path. Oh, I’ve had my goofy times, and I’ve had times when my patient friends put up with me. It’s the twists and turns, and it’s the ups and downs that allow you to be that patient older-but-wiser one. We have plenty of silly things to look back on.

GUIDANCE When you have lived long enough to, you tend to revisit the past. Really old people go back to houses they used to live. Our childhood comes back to us at times, silly things and sentimental things. Then there’s our second childhood, right? Look back, wiser now, and say ‘I’ve been good, but inconsistently good. At a certain point down the road, we seek comfort, don’t we? On the other hand, we learn from the past by watching history … ours … repeat itself.
.
Are YOU here for the first time? Come in!
People love this place! Our site is divided into four sections: Guidance, Tarot Readings, Learn Tarot by Observation, and Learn Tarot by Pictures.
If you just want your daily look ahead, Guidance and Tarot Readings are all you need. ‘Guidance’ (above) is a summary of what the cards are telling visitors to be aware of this day.
‘Group Tarot Cards Reading’ (just below this) is the actual word-for-word messages from the pictures of the three cards you see – to everyone. These readings are about you and the people around you. They are about today and the days around it. So, go ahead and pick the sentences you feel are yours and decide whether to encourage or reject them for yourself.

Now, Part Two,
Do you want to know a little, or a lot, about how this Tarot Verbatim™ thing works? If so,
*Go to Learn Tarot by Observing section below. This tells about the combined meanings of the three cards in the pictures in the Tarot Readings. It explains how these cards get together in your mind to make the messages. HERE ARE PHRASES FOR ALL THREE 2-CARD COMBINATIONS is a stream-of-consciousness bridge to your subconscious if you use it regularly – people report.
*Go to Learn Tarot by Pictures. It is what each of the cards, by itself, has to say. It shows you how that illustration makes that card’s meanings in today’s Spread. All the words of each Tarot card reading you see here are a phrase-by-phrase translation of the scene pictured on those cards: no filler, no psychic impressions, no spirit guide. Word-for-word Tarot Verbatim™.
You can put all this together and intuitively see yourself how Tarot Verbatim™ works.
This is a group reading, with no Questioner and no Question to limit what the cards say, so there’s more variety – even contradictions – than a personal reading would give you. Also, pronouns are flexible: If the sentence feels like it’s yours, and it says ‘he,’ but you’re a ‘she,’ well, it’s yours.
*AND if you write names of any two cards into the Google search bar, it will give you meanings of those!

Two of Pentacles – Six of Cups – Hermit
.
LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING
.
……………………… All three of our cards today have multiple seemingly-unrelated meanings. Two of Pentacles – one of its many applications – is going back, going around again, revisiting, repeating, etc., since it illustrates ‘going around in a circle’ and ‘over and over again’ in the dancing juggler. Hermit is an old person who is looking for, and who is on the road. Six of Cups is the past and the good old days (among a few other things like kids, romance, and home. So Hermit can be an old person looking back to the good old days. Both Six of Cups and Hermit are about old friends (Hermit, because it separately means ‘old’ and ‘friends,’ so can combine those.) Both Six of Cups and Hermit are about warm feelings, devotion to another person, and unpretentious comfort. Today’s story is looking for what’s real, and looking into the past for that.
………………………….. Two of Pentacles has a few meanings and a plethora of phrases. Today the ‘over and over’ repeated actions, which also involve ‘still doing’ and ‘keep at it’ or ‘always’ are mainly the ones we use. Those phrases are, verbatim:
keep _
repeat itself
re-
going back
still _
forever
one thing after the other
always
it’s still been one _ after the other
One upheaval after the other
regularly
still doing
keep going back
back
I go around
cycles of
ineffectually redoes _
And the next most Two of Pentacles’ category we use today are the ones that the ships tossing in the background express: the unstable, indeterminate, this-way-and-that ones. Those phrases are, verbatim:
going? – it depends
inconsistent
goofy things I do
ineffectually
foolish .. second …
vertigo
unstable
No so _ but not so _ either
………………………….. Six of Cups also has many trunks to its tree – so many that, as the dominant card (one the others relate to the most), it has created several categories to our post here. The first category is all about the past, and these are the phrases for that:
the past
history
what used to be
after all these years
what I’m used to
how life used to be
I used to
he used to
used to be done
nostalgia
The next category is about home, that comfortable place, and the ‘old haunts’ that constitute home to a person (some of us at least)
home
a comfortable place
old haunts
Then we have the children. Phrases for that are:
child, children, childhood, youngster, kids
Then we have the romance application of Six of Cups. Phrases for that in today’s post are:
loves
romance
love life
Besides all these, we have ‘I’ve been so good’ and ‘not so young’ as phrases for Six of Cups.
………………………….. Hermit is a monk who serves travelers: finds them, and takes them home to a hot meal and a warm bed. He is a service monk; he is your helper and friend. Pictured is a man who is older and is a doctor. He is therefore a learned person. Combining helper and doctor, he become a counselor and a giver of advice. He also is about being real, being sincere and plain. He becomes the caretaker, the sincere man whose love is real in romance questions: devoted.
Mainly today, his phrases are about looking and watching. They are:
watching
looking
looking for
looking out for
has me looking at
looking
investigation
Hermit as the learned man produces phrases about information. Today we use these from that category:
learning
truth is
advice
Today we use a few of the words that refer to being old or older. Here they are:
old man
old
getting older
old people
old person
A monk is a devotee, is devoted. Hermit is your friend, is sincere, and in romance he is devoted and adores. Here are those Hermit words:
devoted
adores
sincere
friends
By what he is wearing, Hermit is a doctor. Those phrases are:
being treated for
treatment
doctor … treatments
Lastly, you find Hermit referring to the the fact he is going somewhere, and to nighttime, and to cold. Here are what we use today of those:
cold night, heading
going
We do go back and ruminate and reminisce where we have been, as we get more experience, don’t we? We may want to apply our new (and, we trust, better) perspective to who we were and what we did back there. Maybe we can’t change its facts, but we can change its application, its categories, at least its effect upon us. Do this exercise. Write (in your head) your life as you being a success, a somebody. Then write it as you being a victim. Then, if you like that, write an existential open-ended version of your biography so far. You will find that where you end the story makes it one thing or another. So where you are headed is more important than where you have been, right? Right?
.
Now we show where each of the phrases in each of the sentences comes from:

LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES
.
Two of Pentacles……….. Two of Pentacles is one of those Rider Waite cards that has otherwise-unrelated meanings growing out of its illustration. There’s a contrast between the skill of the dancing juggler as he does the same motion over and over without fail and the ships tossing in a wild uncontrollable way behind him. It must be the costume and the funny hat (dunce cap?) that make all the ‘silly’ words and phrases. The back and forth motions produce quite a few comme ci, comme ca, this-way-or-that, either-or type phrases – and there are a lot of those. Anything that a person would *rock his hand back and forth about* belong to Two of Pentacles. But what do the two pictures have in common?: motion. The ships are moving up and down, and the juggler is too – and is moving in quite a few other ways as well. Today ‘going back’ is featured because Six of Cups is the past, and Hermit is going there, and Two of Pentacles has this application to its repertoire.
.
Four of Swords …………. Six of Cups, too, has otherwise-unrelated meanings growing out of its illustration. It’s one of those cards I could write a book on … and I’m thinking of writing a few pamphlet-sized books on the complex Rider Waite Tarot cards like this one – thirty- to sixty- pages or so. Today the branches we are occupying on Six of Cups’ tree are: the past, home, children, romance, and being good or the sweet life. The way we get these applications is, of course, from the illustration, which shows Little Boy giving Little Girl flowers in front of their apartment or estate, the artwork being done in kitsch (cutesy-poo) style.
.
Judgment …………Hermit, yes, is yet another Rider Waite Tarot card that has otherwise-unrelated meanings growing out of its illustration. You see a monk. Not just a monk, but a service monk. He is a medic, and he is out in the cold dark mountain terrain with his lamp to attract any travelers who could use a meal and a bunk indoors tonight. If you have never camped out in the mountains in the winter, you cannot fully appreciate what Hermit has to offer. So he is helpful, sincere, a doctor (his clothes), is out looking, and is looking out.
*In addition to all of those characteristics, Hermit (as the doctor and the monk who studies godly topics) is learned – a scholar. Hermit is able to teach, and is always learning.
*Hermit is a graybeard: is old or older. Expand this fact when you apply it.
*Hermit as a monk is devoted. Expand this fact to his being a devoted friend, devoted lover, a seeker as well as a teacher.
*Hermit is traveling, on foot, going somewhere. He can be – in application – going somewhere in the cold, in the dark, and in the mountains. He can also be in a search party, with other cards.

Four Card Spreads, Our Daily Spread, Tarot Verbatim
HOW TO USE THE MATERIAL WE HAVE FOR YOU HERE. Read the sentences, and pick out the ones that seem to apply to you, to the people around you. They are a Tarot analysis of your day’s circumstances. As the day (or several days) unfolds, you may find the information is relevant. The question is: “Tell the visitors here something useful and meaningful to them.” Often, your adopting the attitude you feel in the blog works for your day!
Without a question to focus the answer, four cards can mean even contradictory things. Without a question also the pronouns in a group reading are less specific, more flexible, especially in some of these Rider Waite Tarot spreads. Especially when a pronoun is in parentheses, feel free to substitute. The Advice section sums up a general meaning of all the sentences.
Now that I am sober, I realize I was only seeing things.
Seven of Cups
Hermit, Two of Pentacles, Hanged Man
The pattern here is two cards that mean ‘to understand’, each followed by a card that means something out of control or unstable. So we are saying something twice.
What advice are we saying? To take a good look, an intuitive look, at the loose cannons in our personal lives, understand and be aware of them. Those loose cannons are not presented here as problems but more as some underfoot stuff that gets in the way that you have to step around. A time of flux demands attention, analysis and intuitive sensing because fluxes are easy turning points, whether the turn is accidental or intended.
Perspectives:
Look around and see the fog.
See the same thing over and over and realize it makes no sense.
Analyzing the instabilities and seeing each separate unrelated instance.
You keep looking and see all sorts of things.
Now that I am sober, I realize I was only seeing things.
Knowing how silly all these things are makes you realize.
To know both factually and intuitively that it’s one damn-fool thing after another.
When you see how indecisive he/she is, you realize the shit has hit the fan.
When a wise man is being foolish, he realizes he is out of control.
Examining its erratic movement, (you) realize it’s disintegrating.
Keep looking for individual pieces that you relate to.
The old man is unsteady, he feels himself losing control.
Sometimes a sensible man’s imagination runs wild.
Seeing things, you realize you may or may not be sober.
He realizes that sometimes being kind and helpful makes a mess of things.
Meanings and Illustrations:
Hermit: The kind monk is looking at night with a lantern for travelers he can help. He is old, sensible and sober and wise. This Rider Waite Tarot card calls for words like: see, analyzing, knowing, examining, and ‘take a good look.’
Two of Pentacles: You see the back and forth movements of the juggler, the ships tossed up and down on wave s behind him. This Rider Waite Tarot card refers to such words as: around, over and over, instabilities, keep ___ing, now that, how silly, one thing after another, indecisive, foolishk, erratic movement, unsteady, may or may not, and sometimes.
Hanged Man: ‘To realize’ is the most frequent word Hanged Man calls for, along with ‘see’, relate to, intuitively, feels or senses, and imagination. The illustration depicts how you feel when you experience eureka, when you realize what you already know but never quite fully grasped. It depicts the very different view of the world you have when you have been spiritual for a while, and are becoming a citizen of other dimensions.
Seven of Cups: Illustration of the strange objects in the cloud is about either Pandora’s Box or the Sorcerer’s Apprentice. It is about spiritual things invading physical reality … which reminds you of what I just said about the Hanged Man. It brings forth many different phrases but they are pretty much on the same target. Here are the words we find for it in this spread: fog, makes no sense, each separate unrelated instance, all sorts of things, only seeing things, all these things, damn-fool thing, shit has hit the fan, out of control, disintegrating, individual pieces, losing control, runs wild, imagination runs wild, seeing things and makes a mess of things.
