Two of Wands Here’s that mogul who owns the town (got the world in his hand) again. He owns the real estate down there, is the landlord (land lord, get it?), and he’s planning on yet more profit from it in his magnificent future. Believe it or not, for all his glory, his Tarot card more often than not just translates future tenses, especially: will, will be, it will, going to, going to be, coming, ahead and ‘the future.’

.

Two of Wands is not only a real estate card, the leading one, but since it is about money too – financial security, being the rich man, etc., it also is about mortgages and banks, loans, and even pensions.

.

Two of Wands is also a general profit and profitability card. Three of Pentacles shares some of those meanings.

Three of Swords You just know Three of Swords means no good. And it doesn’t of course. The knives go through flesh, and through the heart, which gives all sorts of wound, injury, harm, damage, heartache, trouble, stress, aggravation, problem meanings. It also means enemy, war, mad, opposition, fight, and litigate: Those are a teeny bit less obvious.

.

Three of Swords is one of two divorce cards (Tower is the other.). Three of Swords also means to quit and to be fired, and of course to separate. And Three of Swords is also a word for any kind of refusal, as in turning down an offer when Four of Cups comes alongside it.

Four of CupsJust say ‘no.’ I don’t have to tell you Four of Cups is about refusing (adamant refusal), about ‘it doesn’t go through.’ The illustration says all.

.

Four of Cups also translates words and phrases like: stop, there’s no way, no more, no matter what, put an end to … and even occasionally ‘The buck stops here.’

This spread is a good example of the same set of Tarot cards saying opposite things. Both Three of Swords and Four of Cups have negative interpretations, a common one being ‘against’; and Two of Wands says ‘ will’ and ‘ will be.’ So Three of Swords and Four of Cups say ‘It won’t hurt,’ and Two of Wands and Three of Swords say ‘ It will hurt.’ Two of Wands and Three of Swords say ‘ Will be harmed,’ and Three of Swords and Four of Cups say ‘ no harm comes from.’ (You could say Two of Wands is ‘will’ and Four of Cups is ‘won’t.) It’s good to keep an eye out for these potential pitfalls in your spreads. The question, what the other cards are saying, and the rest of the story you know determine which interpretation applies.

.

Basic and frequent phrases for the first two cards, Two of Wands and Three of Swords, are: against the plan; there will be damage; feelings will be hurt. Put any of Four of Cups’ words in there, and you can go through the whole deck making different sentences.

.

Basic and frequent phrases for the first and third card in our spread, Two of Wands and Four of Cups, are: will not be; it will not, (expressed as ‘won’t’); not going to; not going to be. Throw any of Three of Swords’ meanings in there, and, you guessed it, you can go through the whole deck.

.

Basic and frequent phrases for the last two cards in our spread today, Three of Swords and Four of Cups, are: no opposition; it won’t hurt; do no harm. You can put each of the other card’s, Two of Wands,’ meanings after this, and make sentences of the whole deck.

Will be a fight you refuse to get involved in. Not going to join no matter what the offer is. Two of Wands  is you when you’ve got it made. This is the picture of the feeling you get when your plan has gone well, and you’re making another plan on top of that. The man in the picture owns the town now, and is ‘on top of the world’ (on top of his mansion with the world in his hand). Two of Wands is in control; is Somebody, is respectable. Two of Wands is strongly associated with real estate, banking, bank accounts, financial planning, financial security, investing, budgeting, pension, and even ‘worth’ because the man owns the real estate below and is planning even more profit from it.

.

And Two of Wands is all about the future, so it is one of the cards that puts nearby cards into future tense.

Three of Swords  is hurting, suffering, pain, storms, heart problems, surgery, and general adversity and difficulties. And, yes, Three of Swords is your card of choice for hate, war, fights, quarrels, feuds, getting fired or quitting, and spiteful snarly people. Three of Swords is when everything goes against you. But its meaning extends to merely ‘difficult’ and hence to long shots, unfavorable environments, contrarian attitudes and approaches (‘no matter what’ situations), and to fighting for something or doing something the hard way. A good example of Three of Swords not always meaning something awful is ‘contrarian investing’ today with Three of Swords accompanied by Two of Wands.

Nine of Cups is as much a ‘good card’ as Three of Swords is a ‘bad card.’ At his worst, Nine of Cups is excess and greed, and the ‘I got mine’ attitude. We (everybody, really) call this the ‘your wish is granted’ card. Your dream come true card. I did it my way, and things are going my way, and I got exactly what I want … card.

.

Specific words and phrases produced by this simple concept are things like: mighty fine, enough, you cash in on; rich enough; wants to; the one I really want; getting exactly what you want; content; glad; wanting it all; enjoying life; is good; is good for you; pleasure; wanting to please, being pleased; producing a profit; gain.

Again we have the same pattern. Both Two of Wands and Nine of Cups are all about being prosperous. In the middle is the third rail card, that spoiler, Three of Swords. Three of Swords is heartache, hurt, painful experiences. Three of Swords is ‘no matter what.’

.

But this time, it was easy to find all sorts of sentences, partly because of Two of Wands’ handy-dandy ‘future’ meanings, along with the many contrasts between the satisfaction of Nine of Cups versus the difficulty or hard times of Three of Swords – the ‘no pain, no gain‘ sort of sentences. Sentences like ‘Even with hard times ahead, I shall be content’ and ‘My wish to be secure in the worst of times’ and ‘The odds are against getting rich from real estate.’

.

We end up with the reassurance that whatever the bumps in the road may be, we will make it home.

Our Daily Spreads for August 27, 2011 Saturday

Advice is about the Wife,  the Other Woman,  a divorce and financial security.  It tantalizingly reads any way.  I put it here because it is probably talking to someone!  So I put down another spread hoping for something cheerful.  Fat chance!  The next spread is one of the most dismal I ever laid down!  So you can skip today’s! =========================================================================== Is this the first time you come here? Well … what to do:

The Question for weekdays is: “Tell the visitors here something useful and meaningful to them.”

The Question for weekends is stated right on top on those days, if there is one.

*Go to Advice to apply what those sentences say for you. (Advice is everyone’s favorite part.) Did you come here for your predictions? – You are done now – See you tomorrow.

Without a question to focus the answer, four cards can mean contradictory things especially when the Spread has a card that negates other cards. Without a question also the pronouns in a group reading are more flexible, especially in some of these Rider Waite Tarot spreads. When a pronoun is in parentheses, feel very free to substitute. The question in a ‘real’ individual reading supplies at least half the information!

============================================================= Three of Swords Two of Wands,  High Priestess,  Queen of Wands   DAILY MESSAGE TAROT ANALYSIS   Divorce,  and the Wife living alone in her own house. Two women –  the Wife and the Other Woman –  feud. Divorce,  and the Other Woman will be his wife. He breaks up with the Other Woman and marries (you). She is against being a married woman because,   all by herself,  she is financially secure. *She is averse to using the house she lives in as an asset. Divorced woman stays in Mother’s house. She is married but plans to divorce. She will stay at her divorced girlfriend’s house. ============================================================= Now,  Part Two,

Do you want to know a little, or a lot, about how this Tarot Verbatim ™ thing works? If so,

*Go to Meanings and Illustrations: Observation of the Spread section below. This tells about the combined four pictures in the Daily Spread – the pictures above here. It explains how these four cards get together to mean things.

*Go to Meanings and Illustrations: Individual Rider Waite Tarot Cards. It is what each of the four cards, by itself, has to say. It describes how that illustration makes that card’s meanings in this Spread.

You can put all this together and see yourself how Tarot Verbatim ™ works.

===========================================================================   MEANINGS AND ILLUSTRATIONS:  OBSERVATION OF THE SPREAD Like I wrote in Advice,  there’s financial security,  Two of Wands;  the Other Woman,  High Priestess;  the Wife,  Queen of Wands;  and Three of Swords,  divorce. MEANINGS AND ILLUSTRATIONS:  INDIVIDUAL RIDER WAITE TAROT CARDS Two of Wands is financial security,  and ‘asset’  in a banking sense –  hence using the house as an asset when Queen of Wands owns a house.  It also means a plan.  The illustration shows a banker type guy planning his real estate kingdom below,  standing on this finished roof with the whole world in his hands. High Priestess means plenty of other things besides the other woman,  but in this spread that’s it,  other than she is alone and  ‘she stays.’  She is pictured in Rider Waite as sitting alone,  standing for the passive female principle.  Why she represents the other woman,  I don’t know. I got the meanings by asking questions I knew the answer to and that is what came out.  Perhaps it’s the ideas combining of being alone and sitting, suggesting waiting? Queen of Wands is being the Wife and the woman who owns a house today.  In her illustration,  she sits alert on a nice solid throne with a flower in one hand and a big stick in the other. Three of Swords today is limited to divorce or to being against,  averse,  to.  It means hurt and heartache too. The stylized heart with swords going through it and storm clouds behind says it all.
