Tarot Readings for You for April 25, 2015 Saturday©

GUIDANCE        Reminding ourselves here that a spoonful of sugar gets things done the easier, or easiest, way. If your project requires that you be the dictator, be assertive as the benevolent dictator. If you want to be loved, find out what will make that person love you, and do that. If you do things you enjoy the most, you will enjoy at least part of your life. Things you must do: To be good, you must do good; to have good health or to be healed, do things that bring that about. Today we have recipes for action.

Ace of Swords – Magician – Ace of Cups

.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

.

……….……. .….  Ace of Swords is the hard way; Ace of Cups is the easy way. Ace of Swords is an ultimatum, is the dictator; Ace of Cups is agreement and cooperation. Together, though, they say: unconditional love. Both Ace of Swords and Ace of Cups mean ‘the best’ in their different ways. In the midst of them, we have taking action, doing, getting it done: Magician. You make people do by getting them to agree. Do what makes them love you. Cooperation is necessary to get things done. That’s today’s ruminations.

………………….  Ace of Swords is one of the simple cards. An upright double-edged sword is obviously about force. A crown atop said sword is having authority. Laurel leaves atop said crown is victory. Ace of Swords is uncompromising order, uncompromising orders. By force, by golly. Having the authority to give orders – and achieving results – the victory represented by the laurel leaves. Ace of Swords means ‘the most,’ and this is expressed by suffixes: -est, -iest. Any word that expresses an ultimate state can belong to Ace of Swords: the cat’s meow, you know!

…………………..  Magician is getting it done, doing it, being the one to do it, making it happen, taking initiative, being male – pronouns like he, him, himself, and even ‘I’ and ‘myself’ – as in ‘Do It Yourself.’ Magician is about willpower (see Chariot for that, too, who also gets things done: These guys are related). Magician is about having a purpose, and accomplishing it in the real physical world – including accessing unseen influences as resources to accomplish that purpose.

Magician’s illustration shows a man (Magician is the male principle, as the ‘1.’) with a wand in his right hand pointed skyward, and his left hand pointed ground-ward, which suggests he is connecting nonphysical influences to what’s happening ‘in the real world.’ He is being the connection.

The tools on Magician’s table are the suits of Tarot: wand, cup, sword and pentacle. He has the ‘eternity sign’ as a halo over his head.

…………………..   Ace of Cups is about the most complex card in the Rider Waite deck. Like most of the cards put into this deck in European Middle Ages, its illustration bears some explanation and doesn’t directly apply, mostly. As in Magician, again we have the idea of nonphysical influence in human experience. Ace of Cups shows strictly divine influence: Its main message is Holy Spirit gets into human mass consciousness through influencing the senses of the human body. Symbols of this card are Roman Catholic. (Why? – because that was the powers-that-be then, and adherents of Tarot could be killed as witches by that churchly political entity.)

Meanings that grow out of this seem unrelated. Ace of Cups says ‘Go with the flow.’ Ace of Cups is ‘good’ in all its ramifications, including love, good health, agreement, cooperation, benefit, no harm, ease and easy and easily, peace, God and Holy Spirit, innocence, getting along, being calm, acceptance and being accepted, being relaxed, and all things warm and fuzzy.

.

.

Make yourself deal with other people gently: It’s a shortcut to their cooperating with what is important to you. If people see you as warm and fuzzy, or as being agreeable with them and their perspectives, well, they will be impelled to fit themselves into your perspectives when you call upon them. At first, you force yourself (gritting your teeth) to present your projects this way, but it grows on you and you get into the habit of going with the flow … no longer having to grit those teeth as you court your public.

.

Now we show where each of the phrases in each of the sentences comes from:

………....……….

LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES

.

Ace of Swords………Ace of Swords is as transparent as Ace of Cups is dense when it comes to connecting meanings to pictures. Ace of Swords is obviously what has to be. With Magician next to it, Ace of Swords is what has to be done, or what you have to do. You see not only a naked sword brandished, but it is crowned, and the crown wears laurel leaves of victory. So Ace of Swords is winning and success and authority. Ace of Swords is imperative – is the ultimate power. It even can read ‘almighty.’ (Gee, next to Ace of Cups, you have ‘almighty God,’ but I’ve yet to see that phrase apply.) What does appear for Ace of Swords and Magician is ‘make myself.’

Magician.………….Magician’s applications are easy and simple, but the illustration isn’t a direct expression of them. Most of Magician’s words and phrases are about action. That is because esoterically, as the ‘1,’ Magician represents the male principle of action (as High Priestess represents the female principle of receptivity and knowing). But the action is there if you notice that Magician’s right hand has a wand raised skyward like a lightning rod, and a left hand pointing earthward as the grounding of the energy from above.

Magician is bringing about what he wills (Definition of magic, from magic itself, is ‘will.’) by accessing unseen influences and applying them, through himself, to a real-world project. Focus all available resources and influences on what you are doing, this Rider Waite card says. Note that Magician means ‘make’ in both its most common ways: to force, or to create – to make myself do it, or to make love.

.

Ace of Cups……….Ace of Cups shows flows from a fountain into a body of water which supports life (the blooming lily pads). The flows from the fountain represent the five senses of humans, or the five ‘bodily humors’ from Middle Ages thought. The body of water is mass consciousness. So the human senses are flowing into mass consciousness. That’s humans making a mass consciousness. Above are symbols of Holy Spirit – the dove – and of holy communion – the wafer. So the idea is God influences human consciousness spiritually through a human’s physical senses.

This concept is what relates all the seemingly disparate meanings of this Ace of Cups card. It means love (all kinds of ways, including ‘warm-fuzzy’); it means good (every which way) and good health; it means to agree, to go with the flow, to cooperate, getting along, accepting and being accepted. It means being relaxed, and the easy way, easygoing, ease, being calm. It means ‘benefit without harm,’ as well as ‘benefit’ and ‘no harm’ or ‘not harm.’

Tarot Readings for You for July 24, 2014 Thursday(c)

Guidance      What is inside you is the rudder that directs you to one or the other course of action … or both. Between the lines, today’s readings suggest to be aware of your internal feelings and processes and inclinations since they determine your course. We especially apply this concept to the basic choice of whether to go with whatever is happening, to let whatever the atmosphere is around you be that way, or whether to affect those things by asserting your personality. Our rudder paddles us into, or out of, the eddy our bark occupies.

Now,  Part Two,

Do you want to know a little, or a lot, about how this Tarot Verbatim™ thing works? If so,

*Go to Learn Tarot by Observing section below. This tells about the combined three pictures in the Tarot Readings – the pictures above here.  It explains how these three cards get together in your mind to make the messages. HERE ARE PHRASES FOR ALL THREE 2-CARD COMBINATIONS is a stream-of-consciousness bridge to your subconscious if you use it regularly – people report.

*Go to Learn Tarot by Pictures.  It is what each of the three cards, by itself, has to say.  It shows you how that illustration makes that card’s meanings in today’s Spread. All the words of each Tarot card reading you see here are a phrase-by-phrase translation of the scene pictured on those cards: no filler, no psychic impressions, no spirit guide. Word-for-word Tarot Verbatim™.

You can put all this together and intuitively see yourself how Tarot Verbatim™ works.

This is a group reading, with no Questioner and no Question to limit what the cards say, so there’s more variety – even contradictions – and also the pronouns are more flexible. If it feels like it’s yours, and it says ‘he,’ and you’re a ‘she,’ feel free to adopt it anyway.

.

………………….………………….

Four of Pentacles – Ace of Swords – Ace of Cups

.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

……….…………     These three cards in Tarot Verbatim™ cover the waterfront. We have the budget, love, war, peace, overcoming, feeling inferior, cooperating, health, internal issues and keeping quiet. Here is how we have it:

……………………….. (in Four of Pentacles) the budget, being broke, feeling inferior, cowardice, deep feelings, internal organs or issues, keeping quiet, laying low, not wanting to hear it,

……………………….. (in Ace of Swords) war, overcoming, taking assertive action, imperatives (must, have to), fighting or resisting, victory and winning,

………….………….. (in Ace of Cups) love, peace, God, health, cooperating, agreeing, going with the flow.

……………….……….     The contrasts in Ace of Swords and Ace of Cups are endless, even though together they mean victory through love, win without doing anything, strength in peace, total healing, and unconditional love. The contrasts are war and peace, force and cooperation, agreeing and threatening.

……………….……….    Four of Pentacles and Ace of Swords too are contrasty. Four of Pentacles is submission and Ace of Swords is assertive. Four of Pentacles feels inadequate and is restraining himself and Ace of Swords is feeling dominant and asserting itself. Four of Pentacles is hunkered down, laying low, refraining from action and Ace of Swords is aggressive action. We have the coward and the aggressor here.

……………….……….    Four of Pentacles and Ace of Cups, on the other hand, are both about deep feelings (of love, predominantly), letting it be, not opposing. They get along together in many beautiful ways, such as Four of Pentacles’ reference to internal organs or processes and Ace of Cups application to good health and healing. Four of Pentacles ‘deep down inside’ or ’embrace’ meanings dovetail nicely with Ace of Cups’ going with the flow, agreeing, and love feelings. Here we get the ‘bone-deep love’ and the word ‘wholehearted.’

.

.

.

Put these all together, and you have a bone-deep awareness of two basic attitudes or courses of action: to let it be and go with the flow or to take action to affect that flow. Cooperate or oppose. Between the lines is the idea that your deep-seated feelings are what makes you take one course or another, or take them both.

Four of Pentacles.………  He sits outside of town (something to hide, a secret) staring straight ahead, alone (He doesn’t want to talk about this, it’s private), holding onto money for dear life (he’s near broke, is stingy or cheap, is on a budget), hugging himself (feeling inadequate, in need of comfort). The emphasis in Four of Pentacles is internal life (and therefore internal organs), inadequacy, and deep private feelings – the ‘deep down inside’ phrase. He is hunkered down, doesn’t want to hear something, is laying low, possibly cringing in cowardice, is inferior in some position or way. Deep feelings are featured.

.

Ace of Swords………….     At a glance, anyone knows the main meaning of Ace of Swords is victory in a conflict: A blade grasped upright and crowned doubly with a crown for authority and laurel leaves for victory. Assertion and aggression, overcoming, war, imperatives (orders, have to , must), as well as fighting and winning. Ace of Swords is also the challenge and resisting. Of course it is also being resolved as in ‘I’m going to do this no matter what.

Ace of Cups ……….    This illustration is not as obvious as some others. If you know the dove is Holy Spirit, and what the ‘W’ means, you figure it has something to do with God and peace, and you would be right. The flow of water there brings ‘flow’ and ‘go with the flow,’ which expands to agreeing and cooperating. It stands for unconditional love in love questions. And it is a strong card for good health.
