GUIDANCE Our priorities, which we can change as we change, determine whether we do some things, and when we do them. If something is worth doing, it is worth doing well. A task isn’t, to us, important anymore, so the pressure to do it is no longer taking effect. Getting sleep can come first when we have revved up and accomplished our deed. Being ordered to do something may zero its status upon occasion. Our study today is that shuffle we all do in the back of our minds, the numbers moving around there: to be conscious and to be mindful of those numbers of ours.

*Ace of Swords is by-force-by-golly; to conquer; to be victorious; the most important or highest priority (whatever); a thing you must do, and do first; a sure thing. It often translates ‘absolute’ or ‘absolutely.’ Ace of Swords has the right-of-way. Ace of Swords = ‘you gotta.’
*Chariot analyzes the situation intensely in such detail that he or she finds the way to make good use even of the bad, adverse, factors. Chariot has a responsibility to get the job done, whereas Ace of Swords emphasizes the victory itself.
The other two Rider Waite Tarot citizens on today’s Tarot panel send our stories into different perspectives:
*Eight of Wands is repetitions (of anything); is many items, as on a list; is written or verbal communication – even texting. It often means quickly, and it often means many.
*Four of Swords‘ core meaning is: Things remain as they are. This is expressed as not doing, not participating, not having any part, resting or sleeping, meditating or being retired or being withdrawn. Advice is to ‘Let it be.’ (Remember the Beatles’ song?)
So we have a contrast. The opposites are …..….. (1) engaging all-the-way in action and getting something accomplished and (2) doing nothing or just contemplating.
………..………….. Ace of Swords and Chariot share meanings: success, achieve and achievement, decisive, win, get it done. In this spread they interchange meanings depending on the phrases of the other cards. When you see both these cards in the same place, your story is in good shape.
The message in these four Rider Waite cards getting together for us is: priorities. Ace of Swords says that best. The message is ‘All or nothing.’ If something is worth doing, it is worth doing all the way; if it isn’t why do it at all? The point is to know the difference, to prioritize. The point is to be conscious of the shifting numbers in the back seat of our will that represent our priorities – to take a glance at the back seat as we drive through the days.
We aren’t silly about this. We do point out certain mundane chores that are low status but nevertheless necessary, and we call them accomplishments, too.

Eight of Wands is ‘lots of things,’ is the plural form, is talking or any kind of communication. More and more of (anything) could be mounting up, here.
That was tracking mighty fine, mighty fine there; and then I laid Four of Swords down … doing nothing, not participating, something already at rest. Hmmmm, said I. Pause for thought.
Well, the message is the relationship between what a person wants (or ‘really’ wants) and what a ‘success’ is. You acquire the things that your efforts produce, and discover that’s not what you really wanted. Conversely, you discover you are happier not striving. LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES
Nine of Cups is having it all; being happy and content with your lot; wealth, and excess. You see the chubby fellow with the silly grin and the nine empties behind him: He ate and drank the whole thing.
Chariot is being a success, being skilled and recognized. This is a person who is organized and who thinks on his feet: the project manager who gets the work out of the workers. He steers his steeds with his magic wand.
Eight of Wands is ‘lots of things,’ is the plural form, is talking or any kind of communication. More and more of (anything) could be mounting up, here. Those limbs are airborne, looking like lines on a paper: That is the closest the illustration comes to matching what the cards does say in sentences.
Four of Swords is doing nothing, not participating, something already at rest. It can be lazy, it can be meditating, or it can signify something ‘already done.’ It can be about sleep. It can be indifference. The illustration is a fellow lying in a church on a coffin. He is a knight candidate, and this is his vision quest.
EXPLANATIONS:
Each and every ‘Tarot Reading’ sentence you see is a literal interpretation of the four Rider Waite Tarot cards drawn and pictured for today. (The literal interpretation is from the illustration on each card.) These sentences are put together by only combining the phrases of what each cards says. In other words, there are NO “filler” phrases added just to make full sentences, and no psychic ability or spirit guide is ever involved.
*Without a question* in a group reading to focus the answer, the four Tarot cards can mean quite contradictory things, especially when the Spread has a card that means ‘no,’ ‘never’ or ‘not.’ These negative modifiers can apply to any one of the other cards.
*Without a question* in a group reading, the pronouns (you, him, her, me, us, them, they, etc.) are more flexible. Whenever you see a pronoun in parentheses, please *feel very free* to substitute another pronoun than the one used. I try to drop pronouns when possible, which, if you’ve noticed, can make for awkward phrasing.
Now in an ‘real’ individual reading, the questioner asks a specific question and thereby supplies at least half the information! In an individual situation, the parties are identified and sometimes a time frame is too. Here, in a group reading we cannot do that and so we get a variety of sentences.
Horoscopes are group readings, too. Astrology is based on someone else’s birth data, though, so a ‘solar’ group horoscope never really solidly applies to you! (Astrologers know this!)
Tarot, on the other hand, is perfectly capable of flexibly addressing any group, including all of the visitors that come to this site. It can also address people you might not even know personally, such as all the people at your job who have a say in whether or not you get a raise.
We have been wondering here lately whether the Tarot Verbatim(TM) sentences are more accurate for regular visitors than they are for people who visit this site only once in awhile or for a short time. Would you help us with a comment please, if you have not been a regular visitor? Just let us know if the sentences are relevant to you. So far, people say they do apply.

Illustrations and Meanings:
Chariot: He masters his situation, he gets ahead, by skill, will power and decisive action, like a skilled race car driver who knows when a pit stop gets you ahead by saving you time in the long run. The illustration here shows a chariot driver whose steeds each want to go different directions and not forward. It is his accomplishment to get that vehicle forward under those circumstances. The phrases this card produces in our spread today are:

Knight of Cups: He is polite, diplomatic, friendly, warmhearted and sweet natured. He suggests, accepts and cuddles. He extends his hand as he is shown doing in the illustration. He offers and accepts offers. The phrases for him today are:
agrees; offers; suggestions; affectionate; suggestion; accept offers; sweet; things that he initiates; suggestions offered; accepts; boyfriend; politely; polite; agree.
Eight of Wands: Sticks flying in the wind one after another suggest words, messages, sequential events or items. Lines on a document, written material, letters. The phrases for this card are:

Knight of Swords: He is turning around in a hurry. There is often some emergency. He is running there, running back, and running back and forth. (His direction will be suggested by surrounding Tarot cards.) A reversal which can be in the nick of time. A narrow escape. Fleeing. This card does not usually mean pursuit, although you would think that, from the illustration; the Knight of Wands does. Today’s phrases for this Rider Waite Tarot card are:
changes his; back there in a hurry; all of a sudden; turn the vehicle around quickly; Changes back and forth; takes them back; drives fast; he is running away; to reverse this immediately; turn this bus around quickly; it happens so fast; get out quickly; Quickly … to get out; change the situation; leave immediately.
Today’s Rider Waite message has two Tarot cards which mean ‘quickly,’ the Eight of Wands and the Knight of Swords. Both the Chariot and the Knight of Cups have initiative in common. Tarot cards equal one another piecemeal like this. An experienced Tarotist will sense these commonalities before consciously realizing them.
