Guidance |
The limitations norms impose, that’s what we muse upon now. How you can’t quit behaving yourself, and how being respectable becomes an obligation that people hold you to … people who impose no such limitation upon themselves. We liken this imposition to physical disability, and we say, by golly, there are ways around both … there’s always a way around what’s impossible.
Could This Be You?

LEARN TAROT CARDS BY PICTURES Are you ready to begin learning Tarot Verbatim™? Here your in-depth meanings come alive for each of the three cards! In Tarot Verbatim™, pictures make the meaning, so each card is like a person you know and remember.
WITHOUT THE PICTURES For the true seeker of Tarot knowledge, here is what you need to know about how the three cards in today’s spread affect one another, and how to apply Tarot Verbatim™. Here too the cards come alive, together.
WHERE EACH PHRASE COMES FROM At a glance, with a color for each card, your subconscious picks up on how the sentences of GROUP TAROT CARDS READING came to be. You feel how individual card meanings reach out and blend, unite, into a sentence. (You can learn this – yes, you!) Your subconscious awareness sees the image and its feeling and your conscious awareness sees the language meaning, the text… so your two minds focus together to see 3D, three dimensionally, the same way your two eyes see depth that one eye does not.
PHRASES FOR ALL THREE TWO CARD COMBINATIONS Are you ready for the final step of this revolutionary Tarot Verbatim™ technique? Now to make it exceedingly plain and simple, we list the expressions each pair of cards makes. We list them in paragraph form rather than itemized so that they flow, and your subconscious clicks into place and ‘gets it.’ You may even find flashes of dreams or intuitive realities as you read these, at times.
The Rider Waite Tarot™ deck is a data bank in mass consciousness that your subconscious can communicate with. Tarot Verbatim™ is the Rosetta Stone that makes that communication easy because it is a bridge between conscious and subconscious thought. When both your levels of awareness focus together, you think intuitively in real time in ‘the real world.’
Bon voyage!

Synopsis |
Here you are displaying the white flag of decent behavior like a good citizen that you are. Here come all the jolly rogers to beat you up with that standard of behavior, whining that a decent person would do what enables their agenda. Here comes the time to abandon the rule book or be the prisoner of your principles. You can always resume being well-behaved when you have escaped.

Eight of Swords
Eight of Swords is stuck, stifled, stymied, boxed in, hopeless and helpless … or feels that way. Eight of Swords represents the inhibiting factors, both internal and external – the strictures of anything and everything. Eight of Swords is ‘my hands are tied’ and ‘I can’t.’ Eight of Swords is having no choice. Eight of Swords is ineffectual, accepting whatever handicap is imposed without resistance. The lack of resistance, hence the self-imposed restrictions, is expressed in the illustration in the fact she is so loosely tied, loosely blindfolded, no one’s around, and the big heavy swords are only tip deep in the mud.
Hierophant
You see the pope doing a public ritual with his assistants, something they do routinely, publicly. Hierophant represents the public face of us and them, of her and him, – of not only persons but corporations, organizations and governments – represents the rules of society, and what’s acceptable, decent, right, proper. Hierophant means the real physical world, the physical plane, and the word ‘physical.’ ‘Should’ and ‘ought’ and ‘behave’ belong solidly to Hierophant. Hierophant is the official story, the papers, the title and the certificate. It’s one of the ‘entitled’ theme cards.
Hierophant also means safe and harmless, and the way anything usually and ordinarily is. Hierophant says ‘Behave.’
Eight of Cups
Eight of Cups runs off the road. It is incompletion as well as disruption. The pilgrim is detouring because of a mountain, but is going around it, to resume course later. Most often, in real-time Tarot readings, the disruption is the focus of Eight of Cups, so that it translates words like quit, drop out, leave, avoid, avert, over with before it begins, etc. It also means things like: near miss, short-lived, prevent, give up, go out of (your) way, isn’t what it used to be, interrupted, wrong turn, and even ‘fell off the wagon.’

Now Without The Pictures |
Both Eight of Swords and Hierophant are inhibiting factors, and Eight of Cups is departing from the usual way. This determines our overall twin themes of getting out of restrictions, or accepting them.
Hierophant and Eight of Swords are about limitations – in different perspectives, of course. Hierophant is respectability, what is approved, protocol, routines, and going through channels. It is the routines and forms of religion as well, since the illustration is the pope. Eight of Swords’ main meaning is to be limited, tied up, prevented from – since its illustration is a female blindfolded and tied up in a swamp at some distance from her home on the hill.
Eight of Swords is an inhibiting factor that’s often self-imposed because the dame tied up in the swamp is loosely tied, and no one’s around – not to mention those heavy swords are in mud only up to their tips. Eight of Swords oft represents what I call ‘can’titis,’ the ‘I can’t do that’ that really says ‘I don’t want to do that.’ (The card nevertheless means unable, disabled, boxed in, jailed, limitations, handicaps – and even death.) Eight of Swords is the lead card for death and for imprisonment.
Eight of Cups is an inhibiting factor too, but its focus is on the way around, or the way out, of the impasse. Remember, Eight of Cups is change. The pilgrim detours around the mountain but will get to his destination another way. Today Eight of Cups’ focus – because of Hierophant’s ‘the way it’s supposed to be’ themes, and because of Eight of Swords’ ‘you can’t’ restriction – is on escape, on abandoning a stifling protocol.
Today we feature ‘can’t quit,’ Eight of Swords and Eight of Cups – a good pair to remember.
Are you looking for the many other meanings of Eight of Cups? Here, he is limited by his neighbors. Just put ‘Eight of Cups Tarot Verbatim’ in the search bar. It even means ‘prevent’ sometimes, for instance.
