Guidance
|
We don’t like to be told ‘no’ about almost anything in somewhat the same way we don’t want to talk about hurtful experiences. We don’t want to admit that we … or someone we know … is jealous. Some things, you simply don’t acknowledge or admit to, and they are the same things for all of us – so we don’t talk about sensitive issues with other people either.

Synopsis
|
Conversations in which someone refuses – maybe even in a stubborn or hostile way – or conversations in which the discussion is whether to dissociate or divorce … but the parties decide not to: That is our subject. We don’t want to fight; we are talking it out. Or we decide not to talk about this anymore because we are in a disagreement, or even in a quarrel.

Eight of Wands
Today Eight of Wands is doing what it always does: You can count on Eight of Wands; it is an anchor card. It has few meanings, and they are ‘old reliables.’ Eight of Wands is a pluralizer: Sometimes it simply adds an ‘s’ to a neighbor card, or adds words like ‘many’ or ‘all of.’ It means ‘more of’ in the sense of ‘increasingly’ as well as in the sense of ‘lots of.’ Its other jobs are communication and ‘quickly.’ It is a speak/tell/say theme card, and that extends, especially in the case of Eight of Wands, to any kind of written material or document – or even texting. The idea of the boards flying through the air also gives us the ‘quickly’ meanings.
Note that Eight of Wands can combine it’s plural meaning with its communication meaning to day ‘talking about things’ and other such phrasing.
Three of Swords
This is another anchor card: A card that has few meanings that are very plain and easy to apply. It’s called an anchor card in Tarot Verbatim because you can look to it first, and then hang the meanings of its neighbors onto its lead. You see storm clouds and a diagram of a heart run through with three swords, top to bottom. So you see the storm, the heartache, the heart trouble, the knife wound or surgery. And it’s easy to remember that Three of Swords is one of the divorce cards. Its other meanings are fired, quitting, jealousy, war and battles – and lawsuits or any sort of litigation. It also is hate and ‘against.’
Four of Cups
And here’s a third anchor card. Four of Cups is one of the simplest cards to apply. No. Don’t want it or don’t want to. Refuse. Any negative word. Not interested. Four of Cups is a ‘The buck stops here’ concept too. You see a fellow who clearly is ignoring and say ‘no’ as the hand from the sky offers him a fourth chance at whatever is in that cup.
|
Now Without The Pictures
|
Huh?, thought I, when I looked at these. ‘WHAT am I to do with THIS? Three of Swords and Four of Cups both are rejecting. So you look to the remaining Tarot citizen for what is being rejected. Eight of Wands says ‘over and over,’ ‘talk,’ and ‘quickly.’ That’s not much to go on! I didn’t think I could wring 20 sentences out of these three, but I did. When you dig in, you find things. How useful these sentences are to you is another matter.
What saves the day getting your messages out of these three Rider Waite citizens is that – as often happens – your two ‘bad’ cards cancel one another out. You gotta remember that – you gotta watch for that. Three of Swords is divorce, quarreling or fighting, hate, and difficulties – plus a little storm damage, heartache, and surgery. And right there next to this list of nasties is: no, never, reject, hate it, against it, ignoring it, not saying a word, and there’s no way.
Four of Cups is ‘not talking’ and Eight of Wands is talking. Both Three of Swords and Four of Cups use some of the same phrases about rejecting and being against.
Our messages seems to be about putting what we don’t want to deal with off, and about not talking to people about what makes them uncomfortable or worse.

We find ways. We find ways when we are broke to get together with our people. We find a house in a neighborhood we can afford, a fixer-upper maybe. We make a good home life on a shoestring. We do without for the sake of family. Everyone’s path includes some Dark Night of the Soul, and I am a friend to people who are in need as much as I am to people who are doing well. You guys feel inferior when the truth is, you are as good as the rest of us.

GET A SINGLE CARD’S MEANINGS: TYPE IT INTO SEARCH BOX ON OUR SEARCH PAGE
Four of Wands
A socially prominent respectable family – the foundation and leaders of the town – is hosting the public part of a wedding ceremony: That’s our picture. The ‘family’ theme extends to any group or organization or Company – any kind and any size of group of people, from neighborhood to national or international.
As a wedding, Four of Wands starts with the marriage and the couple, of course. Naturally, Four of Wands means the good sensible solid people of the society (any society, anywhere). But it also (as its twin ‘family’ card does) means ‘everybody.’ Today it is a crowd, and the people who are in good shape, who are doing well, who are ‘as good as anyone else.’ It also represents a good home life.
Four of Wands is a house or building, including a public building. Today, that makes it a treatment center or a religious organization, with Hermit as the religious part.
Hermit
This (service order) monk goes out at night with a light as a beacon for travelers on the road, to help them or invite them in for dinner. So Hermit is coming to the aid of, helping out, looking or searching or seeking, a religious person, being decent and wise, and also being a doctor or healer. He is dressed as a doctor of the middle ages’ time. Hermit is a trip on the road, usually pedestrian. Hermit also can refer to winter, snow, cold, mountains, nighttime, and carrying a light (flashlight, headlight, etc.).
Hermit owns the virtues and attributes of a service monk: being devoted, being alone, being humble, being on the Path, being religious, kind, helpful, a friend, loyal.
This Hermit card also translates: understanding, knowing, truth, sincere, seeing or observing, or even witnessing.
Five of Pentacles
Five of Pentacles is one of the dismal cards. It can be about hitting bottom and being so numb you don’t see the way out. It can be desperation. Being desperate financially, having a hopeless health problem – all of that. The picture shows homeless son and mother, crippled and shoe-less trudging through the snow past a church that, back then offered food and shelter … unless you were a leper, and that is what the bell around the boy’s neck represents. So today Five of Pentacles says these things in our story: disabled, miserable, draining him of life, people who are in need, feeling inferior, sick and crippled people, the ghetto, and desperate people in bad shape.
But that is just where we start … with the illustration. Here are the more common meanings of Five of Pentacles from today’s work: A rundown neighborhood, I’m lonely, a fixer-upper house, leaves you cold, feeling left out, broke, on a shoestring, sacrifices and does without, misses, in the dead of winter, when you are down, my shortcomings, and when you need it.
Five of Pentacles can, and often is, making do with what you have; doing without as a sacrifice. Even a down mood or a ‘day from hell.’
But Five of Pentacles has a very special meaning for your spiritual life: Dark Night of the Soul. That’s when you have had an enlightenment, an epiphany, a peak experience, a eureka revelation or awakening, which is followed by a sort of buyer’s-remorse despair at … now that you see … how benighted, how ignorant, you were. Dark Night of the Soul is a miserable, but normal and natural, experience.
|
Now Without The Pictures
|
These three cards have some powerful and curious interplays in common. Hermit is a monk, a service monk, out looking for people in need outdoors on a mountain path, to bring them in for dinner and wise chat. The mother and son in Five of Pentacles are outdoors on the street, in need, passing by a church and not asking help from it. So we have someone bringing help to people who need it but are not seeking it. We have two stories that take place outdoors on the street or trail, and we have two cards that are stories about church.
Four of Wands is home, and is people who have the comforts of a good home. Five of Pentacles is people who have no home and no comfort. Hermit – the helper and the help – is stationed between them. Four of Wands and Five of Pentacles contrasts people who are in good shape with people who are in bad shape, and contrasts the superior ‘leaders of the town’ with the inferior ‘bums on the street.’
Hermit is a solitary individual who is alone, and Five of Pentacles is people who are ‘alone in the world,’ who are lonely outcasts.
Four of Wands is an organization and Hermit can translate ‘religious,’ so: a religious organization – or its building or headquarters, which Four of Wands also means. Hermit is devoted, and Four of Wands is family, so: He is devoted to his family, or devotion to the family. Hermit is coming, and Four of Wands is home, so: coming home.
The theme for the preponderance of the stories these spreads make is: belonging and not belonging – being a member of the group, or being outside membership – whether by choice as Hermit is, or by being shunned and shut out or excluded as Five of Pentacles is.

Eight of Wands
You see boards flying through the air, which brings Eight of Wands all its ‘quickly’ and ‘fast’ meanings.
The boards are one above the other, which gives Eight of Wands all sorts of words like: increasingly, more and more, a lot, many, some, all, every one.
You could say all Eight of Wands’ communication meanings – and it is the lead card for them – come through the wands’ travel through the air, for the telephone, texting, radio and other media communications. But Eight of Wands goes farther to include print – documents, books, lists, emails, notes – any talk or writing, or any other form including telepathy.
Eight of Wands makes plurals, so you find it just translating the ‘s’ or ‘es’ or other plural form of a nearby card.
Page of Pentacles
You see a young carefully dressed fellow intently studying the object he holds in his hands. Today we use mostly Page of Pentacles’ think/know/believe/understand meanings, which include ‘opinion’ and such phrases as these: what he thinks, who thinks that way, because of what you know, because I know better, of a mind to, in your head.
Page of Pentacles is an identity card (like Page of Wands) so it often appears just as a pronoun in your spreads. Today all Page of Pentacles uses along that line is ‘the type of person.’
The figure in the picture is taking a good look at that pentacle, and Page of Pentacles means to look.
Four of Cups
No. Says Four of Cups. Let me count the ways he says ‘No.’ This is the plainest-spoken of all Tarot. So Four of Cups is an anchor card: Start here, and get your spread’s idea faster. Here is a list I wrote a while ago of Things Four of Cups Says: Huh-uh, no way, don’t gimme that, ain’t buyin’ it, not going to, won’t admit, pass that one up, not taking advantage of your offer no matter how many times it comes up. I won’t ever be; won’t ever do; won’t ever entertain; won’t let it happen. ‘Get that out of my face.’ Think ‘ten-foot pole department too.
As the hand from the sky offers yet another cup, our protagonist looks down and looks in another direction, sits, and crosses his legs and his arms. He isn’t even saying ‘no.’
Today our Four of Cups boy is paired with the talk of Eight of Wands and the think of Page of Pentacles, begging you to ‘Don’t even think of saying that’ or ‘Don’t say what you think.’ Today, Four of Cups is saying the usual negatives, and these main things: shut up, didn’t say, don’t respond, won’t admit, not listen, none of them are mine, don’t get around to, don’t get involved, without engaging, don’t care, don’t want, pass on it, not about to.

Thinking (Page of Pentacles). Talking (Eight of Wands). Refusing (Four of Cups). Weaving these three concepts – along with the other meanings these three cards have – into all these stories should have been more difficult, because we don’t have a ‘real’ action card here. But our three Rider Waite Tarot cards unfolded like a rose blossoming.
A negative card in a three-card spread like this can apply to either, and sometimes to both, of the other two cards. Applying it to ‘either’ gives us (1) putting a negative from Four of Cups to any of the meanings of Eight of Wands, and then adding one of Page of Pentacles’ thinking, knowing, believing, remembering meanings to complete the sentence, as well as (2) putting a Four of Cups negative to any of the meanings of Page of Pentacles and adding one of Eight of Wands’ speak/tell/say words, or one of its fast/quickly words, or one of its many-things more-and-more words, or something about written material to complete the sentence. In the case of these three particular cards, that was easier than it usually is.
In fact there are a lot of other worthwhile sentences you could make these three Rider Waite Tarot cards say. It would be a good exercise if you have the time.

Eight of Pentacles
A carpenter at his work bench banging away: That’s his job; it’s what he does continually, his routine. These are the main elements of Eight of Pentacles’ meanings. Anything to do with work, job, employee, one. Any form of the verb ‘do,’ and anything about doing, two. A routine, to continue, over and over or repeatedly or one after another, three.
That’s Eight of Pentacles in a nutshell – so Eight of Pentacles is one of your Old Faithful anchor cards that you look to first, and fit other cards’ potential meanings around it, to begin your reading efficiently.
Eight of Wands
Like Eight of Pentacles, Eight of Wands is about one thing after another, and translates ‘keep’ or ‘keeping’ meaning to continue. It also is a routine, the same-old same-old thing or things.
Watch for Eight of Wands to make other cards plural. Sometimes all the Eight of Wands does is add an ‘s.’
For no good reason, this is the main communication card. It is a big speak/tell/say club member in Tarot Verbatim™, and it just as easily refers to written material or any form of communication at all, even telepathy. So it will translate odd words about expression like: chitchat, discussion, divulge.
It means ‘fast’ and ‘quickly’ and such words as well. That, you can tell from its illustration.
Four of Cups
Four of Cups is another anchor card. It is a negator card too (negative modifier). You know its main meanings at a glace: They are all about ‘no.’ About refusing, turning down whatever is being offered. He turns his head away, arms crossed, legs crossed, and remains seated for the fourth time something is proffered to him.
Common phrases for a negator are: no, not, no more, would never, don’t, don’t want, won’t, not let, can’t be, doesn’t never, don’t. In addition to these, our Four of Cups emphasizes stopping, refusing, quitting, and denying. For instance, Four of Cups says things like: the buck stops here, ‘ten foot pole department,’ I ain’t listening, I would never, I deny, I’m not letting it get to me, and ‘I quit’ or ‘I can quit.’
.
|
Now Without The Pictures
|
Eight of Pentacles and Eight of Wands both mean continuing processes of any sort, both mean many times over, repeatedly. Four of Cups puts a stop to it, and is a very general negator card. So we have two cards of keep-doing-it and one of stopping it. Eight of Wands is a major speak/tell/say card, so you immediately see both ‘do it and don’t talk about it’ and ‘talk about it and don’t do it.’ Eight of Pentacles is the ‘do’ and it also means work. You see ‘stop talking’ and ‘stop working.’ You see stories.
Read the sentences here, and you see some very common phrases to keep in the back of your mind. Here are some examples of common phrases that pairs of these three make: not my job; work fast; constant effort; keep saying ‘no’; turning down work; keep denying; all the work; continue working.

Now Without The Pictures

|

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING
LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES
.………..………. .… When you have two Tarot cards about not paying attention, and not wanting to hear of it, this is what you will be talking about all right. And what does the other card say? Well, it says ‘talk.’ It is news, information, a list of things, and it makes things plural … so we get I don’t want to hear each an every one of it. By the time this is over, this may be the way you feel about this presentation!
Eight of Wands and Four of Cups, together, say ‘not listening’ or ‘ignore all these things.’ Fool, by itself, says that. So, you would think we were in for a lot of repetition; but these particular cards are so flexible, and get along so well phrase-making together that instead we have infinite variations on a theme.
In fact, today’s spread is such a great example of this variations-on-a-theme that I have included, near the bottom of today’s business, many extra sentences they make – and even those are selected from quite a few others. (You are welcome to use them as an exercise to identify cards despite the similar cards, if you choose.)
Eight of Wands.……..Eight of Wands is as simple as its illustration. The illustration easily says ‘many’ and ‘one after the other, and ‘each and every,’ etc. You see limbs flying through the air. It also says ‘quickly.’ Eight of Wands is a pluralizer (it makes other cards plural, adding whatever that takes to the other card – usually an ‘s’ of course). Less obvious is: Eight of Wands is a lead card for any form of communication at all. Usually written or oral, of course. It goes further to mean information, a list, things that were said, documents, handwriting, texting. (It would cover hand signals or smoke signals.)
Four of Cups.…….Four of Cups is also as simple as its illustration. You see a fellow who clearly isn’t accepting the offer from the hand in the cloud. He isn’t interested in whatever is being presented (by Eight of Wands today, of course). He crosses his arms … and his legs; he looks down; he sits down. He isn’t having any part of it, whatever it is, no matter how many times it’s proffered. The cups have piled up there in front of him.
.
Fool………Fool is not one of those simple cards, but today it may as well be, because the company it’s in today limits its expression to what Eight of Wands and Four of Cups are already saying: Not interested, not listening, not talking, so Fool is in its ‘Oh never mind’ zone. It is saying ‘I don’t know’ and ‘I don’t know why,’ and ‘I’m not anywhere’ and ‘nothing’ and ‘I’m no optimist.’ Fool mainly is forgetting, and things like ‘as if’ and the ‘not present’ phrases, today.
..…. Fool and Eight of Wands Fool and Eight of Wands blithely say “To hell with it all,” and “I’m not listening” and “I don’t care about any of it” and “I’m free of everything.” They can go farther than that to a declaration (Eight of Wands) of independence (Fool as freedom).
.
Double negatives in English make a positive. We have some of that today, and we have sentiments like ‘I can’t say ‘No’ and I don’t know why’ and ‘I’m not anywhere I don’t want to be’ and ‘Don’t make a list of things you want to forget.’ Today is about shutting out, not talking, not admitting – yet there’s an underlying thread of being free to choose what … and whether … to pay attention to anything. Under those double negatives is freedom.
.
Now we show where each of the phrases in each of the sentences comes from:

ORPHANS:
Just forget all the things you don’t want to think about.
I don’t know how many times I said ‘no.’
It’s irrelevant (Fool) – it has nothing to do with(Four of Cups) what we are talking about(Eight of Wands).
You can’t ignore being told that many times.
He says he isn’t free to.
A list of things you are not free to do.
I keep forgetting things I don’t want to.
A lot of things i don’t know, I don’t want to.
No idea of what it’s saying, but I don’t say so.
Not listening and not paying attention.
The more people don’t listen, the more optimists there are.
Here is a list of things not to worry about, to block out.
I keep being upbeat because I don’t get it.
Make a list of things you don’t want to consider, and forget them all.
So many things we don’t know because we won’t look at them.
Forget about denying it in writing!
I’m not saying a word, but I wasn’t even there.
All those things were when I was younger – so don’t bother me with them.
All those things don’t matter, so don’t listen to them.
All the talk does not get to me.
All the things you won’t consider while you’re young.
Over and over, he says he is not that young.

Now, Part Two,
Do you want to know a little, or a lot, about how this Tarot Verbatim™ thing works? If so,
*Go to Learn Tarot by Observing section below. This tells about the combined four pictures in the Tarot Readings – the pictures above here. It explains how these four cards get together in your mind to make the messages.
*Go to Learn Tarot by Pictures. It is what each of the four cards, by itself, has to say. It shows you how that illustration makes that card’s meanings in today’s Spread. All the words of each Tarot card reading you see here are a phrase-by-phrase translation of the scene pictured on those cards: no filler, no psychic impressions, no spirit guide. Word-for-word Tarot Verbatim™.
You can put all this together and intuitively see yourself how Tarot Verbatim™ works.
This is a group reading, with no Questioner and no Question to limit what the cards say, so there’s more variety – even contradictions – and also the pronouns are more flexible. If it feels like it’s yours, and it says ‘he,’ and you’re a ‘she,’ feel free to adopt it anyway.

Eight of Wands – Four of Cups – Hermit
LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING
.
How I cut the number of Tarot Readings sentences to the bone, here! We are a study in contrasts, and we make many, many phrases.
The first focal point is Hermit and Seven of Swords. Hermit is honest, calm, rational (just the facts) and truthful, careful, monogamous or celibate, is seeking or observing something (he) is interested in, is religious, a devoted and helpful friend. Seven of Swords is a sneak, is abandoning the scene (getaway), is a thief, a double-crosser or traitor, an adventurer or daring, a cheat, even an assassin or spy. (I left out the black ops theme for Seven of Swords.) So Hermit is a man of peace and Seven of Swords may be military. Together, these two Rider Waite Tarot cards say ‘witness a crime,’ ‘assess risks,’ ‘It’s true about the double-cross,’ ‘You know how risky that is.’ They even say ‘an honest crook.’
There’s a contrast in the remaining pair of Rider Waite Tarot cards too, Eight of Wands and Four of Cups. Eight of Wands is more and more (increasingly) or many or a lot of, is talking or telling, is a list of things and means ‘fast’ too; Four of Cups is denying, is ‘none of that,’ not talking, no way, it stops here. Together they are ‘none of the above’; they are taking the Fifth. Some excerpt phrases are: “More and more, he does not.” “A number of them are not.” “I am not having anything to do with any of them.” Do you see how these two could also say ‘Cross it off the list’?
Eight of Wands and Hermit is telling the truth, having all the facts, is a lot of friends, helpers, sensible people or observers. Eight of Wands and Hermit also say ‘more and more devoted.’ These two Rider Waite Tarot cards describe reading a document, the facts in writing or in a document, a sincere letter to a friend – even ‘religious writing,’ which might be scriptures. Eight of Wands and Hermit are about examining or investigating one after another, a lot of witnesses, or a lot of help or helpers – or ‘help is on the way.’ Together, they can simply say ‘facts’ too, because Eight of Wands makes things plural, remember?
Eight of Wands is a pluralizer (makes other Tarot cards’ meanings plural), as well as being a list, talking, documents and indicating ‘quickly’ or ‘fast.’ Here are Seven of Swords’ words for today: get away with it, fools around, sabotage and self-sabotage, bad boys, risks and risky, double-cross, danger and dangerous, hazardous, takes chances, harm and self-harm, ‘making off with,’ meaning stealing, theft, criminal and lowlife, daring, spies and snoops. Together, Eight of Wands and Seven of Swords say ‘says he fools around’ and ‘is a danger to others,’ and ‘takes a lot of chances,’ and ‘putting it is writing is too risky.’ ‘Tell him it’s too risky,’ ‘tell him he is harming himself,’ ‘one of the people making off with,’ ‘all the lowlifes,’ ‘these things are too dangerous,’ ‘a number of them are snoops,’ ‘a list of hazardous materials’ are some of the things these two Tarot cards have said today. Can you see how the two could just say ‘thefts’?
Four of Cups and Hermit is generally about not being honest or not believing the facts or the truth, not looking, refusing to see things as they are, denying the truth – won’t be sensible or sober or monogamous. Refusing to play it safe. These two can also say “That is not the truth, or not true.” Hermit means to look, search, observe, believe and understand, so Four of Cups and Hermit also say ‘know (he) won’t,’ and ‘aware (he) denies.’ Hermit investigates, so Hermit and Four of Cups could also say ‘The investigation finds no’ (whatever). And of course, ‘refuse to look, refuse to investigate’ is also on the table, with Four of Cups meaning ‘refuse.’ Hermit is realistic, so you get ‘not being realistic’ when you put Four of Cups next to it.
Four of Cups often serves as a negative modifier of its associate Tarot cards. One of its meanings is not letting something through, not letting something happen. Seven of Swords is the daring risk-taker, is dangerous, is getting away with some shenanigan or crime. He is a double-crossing lowlife. He is a thief, an assassin. He robs you, his buddy. This card stands for hazards and means ‘hazardous.’ But watch for Seven of Swords to mean ‘have the guts to’ as well, to indicate revenge, or to mean ‘you pull it off.’ Here are some of the things these two cards have said in our Tarot Readings: You can’t get away with it. Nothing to do with the bad boys. Does not take risks, or Don’t take chances. Not a daring person. No more criminal activity. Isn’t cheating. But not if it is dangerous. Isn’t a crook. Isn’t breaking the law. Denies he did the trespassing. Not let hazardous material through. Won’t let them take risks.

LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES
.
Eight of Wands Mainly is adjectives that mean ‘many’ or ‘a lot of.’ Eight of Wands is about messages, talk, a list, one after another, increasingly. It also means ‘fast’ or ‘quickly’ and its synonyms. It serves to make nearby cards plural. For example, if Hermit is meaning ‘friend,’ Eight of Wands makes that: friends, all the friends, many friends, more and more friends, or more and more friendly. The illustration could be better: boards one on top of the other fly through the air.
Four of Cups isn’t accepting, isn’t listening, isn’t about to, won’t have anything to do with, refuses to, is not reachable. Nothing goes through here. “No.” Illustration aptly depicts that: A disembodied hand holds out yet another cup to a person whose arms and legs are crossed, whose head is averted.
Hermit Shows a monk out looking for travelers who need help at night in the cold. Its disparate meanings arise from that illustration: Comes to help, comes to the other person, sincerely devoted, honest person, monogamous or celibate, truth and true, a night trip or trip or being on the road, look for or investigate, an old or older man, a healer or counselor.
Seven of Swords That’s the sneaky person. That’s the cheater or double-crosser. That’s the criminal or the one who sneaks out and violates the rules. It’s the illegal act or illegal person. That’s you getting away with it, or getting even … a little ‘street justice.’ Seven of Swords is a hazard or hazardous material as well. It is a hazardous mission, a reconnaissance or black ops or illegal caper … which does not have to be an official one; it can be a person on that kind of adventure privately. It stands for daring, and for self-destructive acts and persons.

Four Card Spreads, Our Daily Spread
Advice is about destructive criminal types, cheaters, traitors and how honest people deal with them – which is, of course, all kinds of ways and all kinds of scenarios. No one comes to help when it is dangerous. The old man refuses to listen and harms himself. Everybody is coming to help stop street crime. Says he is true, that he does not fool around. You know ‘something’s up’ when he quits talking to you.
(At the time of production, there’s no way to correct the lack of spaces after punctuation. I am writing around it now!)
=========================================================================
Is this the first time you come here? Well … what to do:
*Go to Advice above which is a summary of the Messages. (Advice is everyone’s favorite part.)
*Go to Daily Message Tarot Analysis below. One or more of those sentences has something to say to you. Intuitively pick those out. They are about you and the people around you. They are about today and the days around it. (It is a group message like a horoscope, except Tarot isn’t based on someone else’s birth data, so it can be specific, accurate, detailed and direct. Our experiment here is “How much more accurate is it?”)
Did you come here for your predictions? – You are done now – See you tomorrow.
Without a question to focus the answer, four cards can mean contradictory things especially when the Spread has a card that negates other cards. Without a question also the pronouns in a group reading are more flexible, especially in some of these Rider Waite Tarot spreads . When a pronoun is in parentheses, feel very free to substitute. The question in a ‘real’ individual reading supplies at least half the information!

Seven of Swords
Eight of Wands – Four of Cups – Hermit
MEANINGS AND ILLUSTRATIONS: OBSERVATION OF THE SPREAD
Seven of Swords: That’s the sneaky person. That’s the cheater. That’s the criminal or the one who sneaks out and violates the rules. It’s the illegal act or person. That’s you getting away with it, or getting even … a little ‘street justice.’ Seven of Swords is a hazard or hazardous material as well. It is a hazardous mission, a reconnaissance or black ops or illegal mission … which does not have to be an official one; it can be a person on that kind of adventure privately. It stands for daring, derring-do, and self-destructive acts and persons. So there’s the ‘star card’ of our spread. The other cards will frame what part of Seven of Swords is being brought out. The other cards are benign, so we are not into horrors or disasters here.
The next Rider Waite Tarot Citizen to shape our stories is Hermit. Hermit has several applications: Investigation, truth or fact, observation or demonstration, sincerity, coming to help, coming, help, counseling or wising up or straightening up, a friend or a friend who helps, sane and sober. Now you should begin to see why we have so many sentences up there!
Remaining citizens are the constants. Constants as Tarot reading goes. Eight of Wands is messages, talk, a list, increasing (as in ‘more and more’ or ‘-er’). Four of Cups is refusing, not listening or not engaging, kind of ‘not doing’ and ignoring. It means ‘no way!’ sometimes.
As many sentences as we have, many more variations are out there. I quit because these are ‘too many’ for a lot of our visitors and readers.
MEANINGS AND ILLUSTRATIONS: INDIVIDUAL RIDER WAITE TAROT CARDS
Eight of Wands mainly is messages, talk, a list, increasing (as in ‘more and more’ or ‘-er’) including more speedily. It makes nearby cards plural. For example, if you are using ‘friend’ as what Hermit means, and you add Eight of Wands, that makes it ‘friends’ or ‘all the friends’ or ‘many friends,’ or even ‘more and more friends’ or ‘more and more friendly.’ Some of its meanings are not used today, and I am leaving those out for now.
The illustration of Eight of Wands is limbs flying in the air one on top of the other, as in a barrage of boards flying through the air.
