Guidance

Strong people had best be friends, because each can thwart the other’s ambition. Got willpower? – you can handle just fine whatever it is you decide to accomplish – you know the way as you go. The way to get there is to get your hands on the steering wheel and keep those eyes on the road, because stuff is going to jump in front of you and get in the way. Forward progress involves the brakes as well as the transmission, you know? And you got headlights, so you can drive all night.

Could This Be You?

Picture this: You look at the cards in your spread.
You immediately get an idea because you know a few of them intimately.
AND you know a system that works because you have had a few

GUIDANCE Did you come here for Your Daily Predictions? Good! Guidance provides your predictions in a summary. It is the Guidance received for you through three Rider Waite Tarot™ cards, using Tarot Verbatim™.

GROUP TAROT READINGS Here are several one-sentence readings that are predictions for you and the people around you for today and the days around it. Here Tarot is talking to you: These sentences express word-for-word, verbatim, the meanings of those three Tarot cards. You choose which sentences apply to you, and you choose whether to encourage them or not.

LEARN TAROT CARDS BY PICTURES Are you ready to begin learning Tarot Verbatim™? Here your in-depth meanings come alive for each of the three cards! In Tarot Verbatim™, pictures make the meaning, so each card is like a person you know and remember.

WHERE EACH PHRASE COMES FROM At a glance, with a color for each card, your subconscious picks up on how the sentences of GROUP TAROT CARDS READING came to be. You feel how individual card meanings reach out and blend, unite, into a sentence. (You can learn this – yes, you!) Your subconscious awareness sees the image and its feeling and your conscious awareness sees the language meaning, the text… so your two minds focus together to see 3D, three dimensionally, the same way your two eyes see depth that one eye does not.

PHRASES FOR ALL THREE TWO CARD COMBINATIONS Are you ready for the final step of this revolutionary Tarot Verbatim™ technique? Now to make it exceedingly plain and simple, we list the expressions each pair of cards makes. We list them in paragraph form rather than itemized so that they flow, and your subconscious clicks into place and ‘gets it.’ You may even find flashes of dreams or intuitive realities as you read these, at times.

The Rider Waite Tarot™ deck is a data bank in mass consciousness that your subconscious can communicate with. Tarot Verbatim™ is the Rosetta Stone that makes that communication easy because it is a bridge between conscious and subconscious thought. When both your levels of awareness focus together, you think intuitively in real time in ‘the real world.’

Bon voyage!

Hermit

Hermit

Hermit is an old man, a monk who is out at night looking for people he can help. He carries a light. He is walking in the snow. Hermit is one of the cards that makes the point of one person taking the initiative – making the first move – going to another person. (Magician and Knight of Cups, too, take the initiative and come to another person.) Hermit is about observation and even surveillance, since he is out looking for people. He is patient. He is all about knowing and being wise, understanding and giving good advice. Hermit is a friend who helps, and is a doctor. (His clothing tells you that.) Each one of these points is a category of meaning for Hermit, including being on foot, a pedestrian, in the mountains, and snowy weather. Put him next to Chariot, and that lamp can be about headlights. It can be a flashlight for the searching, too.

Chariot

Chariot

Chariot is a U. S. Marine: He gets the job (the project – he is a leader) done by any means possible, using even factors that are against his success to accomplish it. Success is one of Chariot’s main words; so is willpower. Chariots are vehicles, so they stand in even for boats and airplanes. That goes a step farther to include ‘drive’ in all its meanings, which include ambition, since Chariot is already about getting the aim accomplished.

Charioteers were the military strategists and heroes of their day, the Special Forces plus some. So Chariot is all about having a strategy and making decisions.

Strength

Strength

Deftly and gracefully shutting the mouth of the roaring predator with her bare hands, whilst dressed in a fancy white long gown with flowers for a belt, Strength finesses a would-be opposition in her illustration here. This visual should stay with you when Strength appears in your spread, because she often means exactly this: overcoming with finesse. Strength is about overcoming internal opposition too – your vices, your own demons.

.

Hierophant You could say Hierophant is the part that’s fit to print. You see the pope doing a ritual, which is his routine activity, so Hierophant also means: usual, routine and routinely, and what should be, official, average, ordinary and normal.

.

Hierophant takes ‘proper,’ ‘right,’ and ‘supposed to, and expands it to the breaking point: It even means having papers, a title or name (including making a name for yourself, at times), straight (including ‘playing it straight’), should, ought, entitled, good (and that’s a theme in Tarot Verbatim™, of course), respectable, decent, harmless, etc. Of course it means anything about church or religion.

.

Hierophant is going along with the program (re the ritual, of course), conforming, cooperating, behaving, doing no harm, being conservative, committing, etc.

.

Hierophant means ‘average’ in all sorts of ways – even ‘the average of,’ ‘the mean,’ ‘average Joe.’

.

Hierophant also means ‘safe’ in its various forms: safety, safely, the safe way, playing it safe. It refers to a safe road or a safe car, when other cards supply the road, the car, or whatever else is ‘safe’ in your spread.

Hermit Hermit has many trunks to its meaning tree, but we are using the mundane (daily, ordinary, physically oriented) ones, mainly because of Hierophant’s influence on Hermit. So today, Hermit is about being a good person – being honest, warm and caring, devout, calm and patient, monogamous, helping and helping a friend and being a friend.

.

Hermit is out looking, carrying a light at night, which brings up anything about looking, seeing, inspecting, keeping eyes on the road (from the influence of Chariot, of course). Hermit also belongs to the theme of ‘night’ in Tarot Verbatim™.

.

Hermit is wise, and is a doctor, which brings words like: medic, learning how, discovering, knowing how, and even inspecting and surveilling.

ChariotThis is a commander in war, and the strategist. Chariot is capable, in charge and responsible. His main meanings are about success and achieving: successful, succeed, champion, he is in charge, achieve, achieve your purpose, getting ahead, handling it. And these, about achieving: achieve, achieve your purpose, getting ahead, handling it. Plus any form of the word ‘responsible.’

Charioteers were the strategists, the decision makers in a great enterprise or endeavor: war. ‘Decide’ and ‘choose’ – in all their forms – belong solidly to Chariot – as does: on purpose – deliberately, determined, dedicated, intends.

Chariot represents any vehicle (including ships and planes) and ‘most anything to do with vehicles – things today like car, truck driver, vehicle, drive, hands on the wheel.

Just as we are not using many of the meanings of Hermit due to Mr. Hierophant’s influence, we are also not using many of the meanings of Chariot – especially the esoteric or magical ones.

When you have all the Tarot cards in your layout meaning the same or nearly the same things, your readings will contain the same elements, have far less variation in their topics. All three of these Major Arcanae are about being right and doing right. So that’s our theme.

.

Hierophant – as the pope – means all kinds of ‘right’ all kinds of ways, of course. Hermit – a a monk – also means being right, doing right, and all kinds of virtues. Chariot is still about ‘right’ but in a different way: Chariot is succeeding, getting the project done, being responsible, taking charge, and winning. Winning any way at any cost, though.

.

Hierophant and Hermit both have religious and spiritual meanings, of course.

.

Hermit and Chariot are both on the road – Chariot by way of ‘driving a vehicle.’ But Hermit is the kind soul who is out looking to help people and Chariot is looking to kill people. Chariot is taking charge and directing people, and Hermit is taking them home to feed them.

There’s some beauty and some order in doing what you’re supposed to do in the way that you are supposed to do it – whatever it is. GUIDANCE             We look at what it takes to be a successful salesperson, closing deals. These same traits support solid friendships and romantic relationships. The traits in question are: being patient, being of service to others, being observant, and a kind manner. Driving ambition and being patiently considerate, at first glance, seem to be opposites, but we explain that the best business is doing business cordially with friends. Friends arrive at a fair price, and friends help one another succeed.

Three of Pentacles – Hermit – Chariot

.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

.

……………….……………………     Two contrasting men: the old man who is patient, kind, sincere, and a helpful friend; the hard-driving ambitious strategist in his prime – the monk and the successful captain. The other card is dealing profitably and fairly in a transaction which can be commercial, but is not limited to that.

………………………..    Hermit is a monk, a person who goes out in the cold dark looking for travelers to offer them a warm meal and bed. He stands for being sincere and sober, being kind and considerate, being patient and being on his path. There are some other meanings we aren’t using right now.

…………..……………    Chariot is the strategist, the successful project manager, the man who gets his mission accomplished one way or the other, no matter what. He is the type of person who gets ahead on the factors that would hold him back.

………………………..   Three of Pentacles is baack. Both our men are accomplishing their purpose, and Three of Pentacles is about getting together to get something done as well. Three of Pentacles is the deal. Since Three of Pentacles is a relationship, and Hermit is looking, well, you’re looking for a relationship.

………..…………..  Three of Pentacles and Hermit  A sincere (Hermit) relationship (Three of Pentacles) is the main thing these two usually say. Looking for (Hermit) a relationship is here too. He is devoted (Hermit) in his relationship. Serves (Hermit) sincerely. He comes to you (Hermit) to do his part (Three of Pentacles). A relationship with a man who is kind (Hermit). Friends help one another: Hermit is ‘a friend who helps’ and Three of Pentacles is the ‘one another,’ a group of people who are doing something together. Be a friend (Hermit) to the people I deal with (Three of Pentacles). Doing business (Three of Pentacles) with friends. I was sober (Hermit) when I agreed to it (Three of Pentacles). Soberly (Hermit) doing my part (Three of Pentacles). Three of Pentacles and Hermit can be three physicians (usually specialists re a difficult case) in a conference, putting their heads together over a patient whose case is difficult. Look for (Hermit) a deal (Three of Pentacles). A service (Hermit) business (Three of Pentacles).

………..…………..  Three of Pentacles and Chariot   Three of Pentacles and Chariot are each about business – not all the time, of course. Well, by now you know Three of Pentacles is relationship(s), give-and-take relationships, relationships in which each party does his fair share, etc. Chariot is to decide on one. Chariot is ‘can handle.’ Chariot is intention or aim to be in one. Chariot is your car having a relationship with you. Chariot is that ambitious man you have a relationship with. He decides to do his part, too. Doing business (Three of Pentacles) furthers your ambition (Chariot). I am responsible (Chariot) to do what I agreed (Three of Pentacles). Three of us are in a car. A fair price for, or a deal (Three of Pentacles) on a vehicle. To close a deal (Three of Pentacles) is a skill (Chariot).

……………………   Hermit and Chariot Hermit and Chariot are both quiet and focused men. Hermit is serving his ambition the same as Chariot is; it’s just a different ambition. Both these Tarot cards also mean overland travel. Here we have a man who is both kind (Hermit) and ambitious or successful (Chariot). Both sober (Hermit) and responsible (Chariot). Checking out (Hermit – looking, surveillance) vehicles. On the road at night (Hermit) in a car.

All kinds of people with all kinds of approaches get together and get things done. We especially emphasize the very patient person and the very driven person, both of whom are furthering (and succeeding at) their purpose. The focus is on the deal, not on the personalities. We get down to business with someone whose approach is opposite from ours, and find the counterbalance mutually profitable. This same ‘opposites attract’ dynamic is found in romance and friendship.

Three of Pentacles ……… Three of Pentacles shows an architect settling up with his clients, demonstrating to them that he followed the blueprints and is entitled to his final large payment. People get together to get a mutual project accomplished. A deal is made of different kinds of people, often, and there’s a give-and-take to build the success of it together. Whether it’s selling, friendship, medicine or romance, this is the way it is.

.

Hermit…………. Hermit is devoted to going out alone in the dark looking for people to invite to a hot meal and a warm bed in the cold. One meaning of Hermit is: He comes to you; he is the one who approaches; he is the one who offers. He is a kind calm friend who helps, an older person who advises – even a counselor or physician.

.

Chariot………. Charioteers were the special forces of ancient armies; their strategy was a major factor in who won the battle. This is the ambitious decisive Type A man on a mission. Chariot is one of the esoteric-oriented cards, as you can tell from the sphinxes hitched to the vehicle and the wands for reins to remotely control the magic critters. The basis for the strategy meanings is that sphinxes, the story goes, travel only right or left, so he hitches them so they are in one another’s way and he can go forward. Chariot can be any kind of vehicle (even an aircraft).

Tarot Readings for You for June 23, 2014 Monday(c)

Guidance       How to get there? That’s what we are *on about* right now. Reminding myself that first I decide upon a destination I desire. To decide, I investigate – I observe, watch and look around me. What are the road conditions, and can my vehicle make it on time? I get the knowledge, and I get the energy, and I get the willpower that it takes to get to my destination. I determine whether I should just quit or whether I can pursue this successfully. I determine which parts I can do quickly, and which will take some patience and be more gradual – the fast lane and the slow lane. Lastly, I remember what my driving instructor said, and I keep my mind on the road.

Hermit – Knight of Wands – Chariot

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

.

………………..…..……………..      All three of these Rider Waite Tarot cards in Tarot Verbatim™ are on the road, and are ‘on the way.’

…………..…………..    Hermit Hermit is on the road patiently looking for travelers in distress that he brings help to. He stands for the objective sane view, truth, the facts, helping, and coming to another person (or place).

……..…….………..    Knight of Wands Knight of Wands is on the road in a hurry, or making fast progress, either running from (getting out of) or pursuing. He is energetic, as you can see from the picture.

………….…………    Chariot Chariot is on the road in a vehicle. Chariot also stands for purpose, aim, intent, ambition, arriving (getting there), success, and being in charge, being responsible, for a project.

….…..……………………….    Hermit and Knight of Wands Hermit is an old man, known for being patient and maybe slow or gradual; Knight of Wands is a young man, known for being hotheaded and going fast.

….…..……………………….    Hermit, with Chariot, could be a vehicle in the slow lane

….…..……………………….      Knight of Wands, with Chariot, could be a vehicle in the fast lane.

……..…………………………    Hermit and Chariot Hermit and Chariot both have a purpose or mission. Hermit is out looking for souls in distress on the road that he brings help (and truth?) to. Chariot’s mission is to get a project done, to accomplish his ambition, aim, or purpose – by any means possible. While Hermit is honest, Chariot is going to get whatever he is dedicated to done by any means.

So our study today is about deciding on a purpose, checking out how best to do it, and achieving it. The main point is to look where we are going with our intended destination in mind. ‘Keep your mind on the road,’ as driving instructors say.

Hermit ………. . Hermit’s several applications arise, as usual, from his illustration: He is an older man, a celibate monk, out on the road at night looking for people to help. He is coming to them. He has that life purpose that he is dedicated to. He is honest, and, on foot in the dark with snow on his path, he is slow. Sincerity and friendship also belong in his word list.

Knight of Wands …………. Knight of Wands is an energetic doer, a young man. He is going fast, speeding in a rush – either pursuing or fleeing (depending upon the information the question or from surrounding cards). He is on the road going from one place to another anyway.

Chariot………. Here is the project manager, the man in charge, the special ops person too. He is known for strategy and willpower – for getting the job done by any means possible: He can be ruthless. He is skilled, and may be spiritually skilled too. Charioteers were the backbone of ancient armies.

Tarot Readings for You for December 3-4, 2018

Guidance      ‘Driving ambition,’ we say. We tend to assume ambition is like that – is forceful and centers on the success of the individual, or centers on a particular project getting done. We could call this acute ambition, couldn’t we? Today we suggest that there’s a chronic type of ambition too, an ambition to get other people to cooperate, an ambition to mellow out, to be lovable or to find love, to go with the flow instead of against it.

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

.

..…..…..Hermit and Ace of Cups Hermit and Ace of Cups play well together. They both are spiritual. Hermit is about going out of your way to help others; it is about being calm. A counselor, an older man, being patient and calm: These are other attributes of Hermit. Ace of Cups means God, the spiritual plane and spirituality, channeling of the presence of God, good health, anything good or beneficial, flow, and ease. Hermit is religious, and Ace of Cups is spiritual. (Of course Hermit is spiritual as well; it’s just that Ace of Cups’ primary focus is spirituality.

..….Chariot contrasts with its Tarot companions here. Chariot usually is the opposite of all this mellowness. Chariot is famous for his strategy, for getting the project accomplished any way it can be done, for his success and his leadership.

..…..…..Hermit and Chariot Hermit is devoted to and Chariot is dedicated to. Both are responsible citizens, are serious folks. They are both on the road going places. They are both members of a community, not loners.

The main message these three Rider Waite Tarot cards in TarotVerbatim™ convey is that driving ambition is harnessed to service and to spiritual achievement as easily as it is harnessed to being successful and getting ahead as an individual.

Hermit…..helps you out, and he comes looking for you, to do that. A person who is calm and kind, very possibly someone in the helping professions – physician, counselor, volunteer at the food bank. A religious person. Seeking and searching belong to Hermit, of course: He is out at night with a lamp looking for travelers.

Chariot…..is responsible for a mission or project, and he aims to get it done by any means possible. The idea here is to strategize to use even the elements of your situation that impede it to further it – to tack against the wind like a sailboat. Notice he is controlling his steeds with a wand, not reins. Sphinxes, the story goes, will turn in only one direction so he has harnessed the one that turns only right on the left, and vice versa, so they will go straight.

Ace of Cups…..The five flows from the fountain are the five senses or five bodily fluids (Middle Ages). They are flowing into the ocean – into mass consciousness. The dove and the ‘W’ represent the presence of God. Ace of Cups is about goodness – all benefit and no harm – and spirituality. It even represents the spiritual zone or plane or level. It means ease, flow, feeling good, being healthy, and cooperation or cooperating.

Tarot Readings for You for February 5, 2014 Wednesday©

Guidance     Adversity can be a shortcut to personal success.  Looking objectively at a painful situation, you assess your part of its cause in order to take charge via taking responsibility.  You decide to exit and do so cleanly.  Suddenly you are calm and things are under control when you break out or break up.  Finding a way to bypass all those difficulties is quite an achievement and so is understanding how to handle hostility without engaging in it.  Today we find parallels in achieving business success by changing course, achieving personal success by getting along with folks, and turning off the road in traffic to avoid some hazards.  It’s about looking ahead, it is!

Are YOU here for the first time? Come in!

People love this place! Our site is divided into four sections: Guidance, Tarot Readings, Learn Tarot by Observation, and Learn Tarot by Pictures.
If you just want your daily look ahead, Guidance and Tarot Readings are all you need. ‘Guidance’ (above) is a summary of what the cards are telling visitors to be aware of this day.

‘Group Tarot Cards Reading’ (just below this) is the actual word-for-word messages from the pictures of the four cards you see – to everyone. These readings are about you and the people around you.  They are about today and the days around it. So, go ahead and pick the sentences you feel are yours and decide whether to encourage or reject them for yourself.

Did you come here for your predictions? – You are done now – See you tomorrow. The family of commenters here would love for you to join in (the very last thing, at the bottom).

Tarot Verbatim: Breaking up/Leaving (Three of Swords and Eight of Cups)

Understanding how breaking up was the detour that put me in charge.

An objective view of a painful situation makes you decide to leave.

The minute I break up, I am calm and things are under control.

Adversity is my shortcut to success, through patience.

As soon as I decide to leave, a friend helps with the heartache.

Decides to be more patient to avoid a breakup.

It doesn’t hurt anymore, you are calm and getting things done.

The old man quits, gets in his truck and disappears.

Tarot Verbatim: Vehicle Damage and Hazards (Three of Swords and Chariot)

Search for a mangled vehicle that is off the road.

Cursory inspection of damage to the vehicle.

Driving at night detouring around a road hazard.

Doctor was leaving just as the heart attack arrived in the ambulance.

Paramedics dropped everything to treat the stroke.

Driving at night in such a storm he decides to get off the road.

To avoid hazards, get off the road at night.

Tarot Verbatim: Avoids/Quits a Nasty/Hostile (Three of Swords and Eight of Cups)

Observe how (he) becomes hostile when (he) doesn’t get his way.

A snarly person suddenly has self-control and is calm.

Choose to avoid an abrasive friend.

A friend sees being nasty got (him) nowhere.

Take all the ill will into account and decide to avoid it.

Choosing to be sane, I leave when they fight.

All of a sudden he is mature and can handle opposition.

Watch how to handle hostility without engaging in it.

Tarot Verbatim: Adverse Factors to Success/Achievement (Three of Swords and Chariot)

My achievement: Finding a way to bypass all those difficulties.

So much is against getting this done that I give up for now, but I am still looking for a way.

Being an overnight success involves patience and pain.

Reject one way and find another way to succeed.

Sees he fell short of achieving his goal because of adverse conditions.

Looking for another way to get it done, this one is a reject.

Can see why they were against this and dropped it from the project.

He came to help you succeed but he suddenly turned against you.

Now,  Part Two,

Do you want to know a little, or a lot, about how this Tarot Verbatim™ thing works? If so,

*Go to Learn Tarot by Observing section below. This tells about the combined four pictures in the Tarot Readings – the pictures above here.  It explains how these four cards get together in your mind to make the messages.

*Go to Learn Tarot by Pictures.  It is what each of the four cards, by itself, has to say.  It shows you how that illustration makes that card’s meanings in today’s Spread. All the words of each Tarot card reading you see here are a phrase-by-phrase translation of the scene pictured on those cards: no filler, no psychic impressions, no spirit guide. Word-for-word Tarot Verbatim™.

You can put all this together and intuitively see yourself how Tarot Verbatim™ works.

This is a group reading, with no Questioner and no Question to limit what the cards say, so there’s more variety – even contradictions – and also the pronouns are more flexible. If it feels like it’s yours, and it says ‘he,’ and you’re a ‘she,’ feel free to adopt it anyway.

Eight of Cups
Hermit – Three of Swords – Chariot

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

Hermit and Chariot are mature and responsible men or individuals who accomplish a purpose by their own actions; both are out on the road. Hermit emphasizes understanding, observing, looking for, helping and calmness. Chariot emphasizes success, achievement, drive, taking responsibility, getting the project done, having things under control; he is also a vehicle of any kind. Today, in the company of Hermit, a physician, he is an ambulance and the two of them together are paramedics.

Three of Swords and Eight of Cups involve leaving. Three of Swords is animosity in a breakup, is rejecting (anything), is nastiness or hostility both to (anything) and as a personality trait. It can also be a storm or damage or a heart attack/stroke.

Eight of Cups is to detour abruptly from one (anything) to another (anything) – from a direction of any kind, even from an inclination. It also involves timing, as in aborted or premature or disrupted or intercepted anythings. Some of its applications are not expected (which is to be expected, since it means ‘unexpected’). Phrases like ‘when he doesn’t get his way’ and ‘got him nowhere’ are examples of the timing meanings. So is ‘overnight’ when it refers to an overnight success or whatever. Other phrases you would not think of are ‘another way,’ ‘fell short of,’ and ‘dropped it.’

Hermit, Chariot and Eight of Cups are all on the road. Hermit is looking where he is going and knows; Chariot arrives successfully; Eight of Cups makes an unscheduled turn.

So we have an echo of the thought of it being wise to leave. That is our main message in today’s sentences.

Hermit Mature enough to be offering practical help to travelers in distress, confident enough to be on the road at night, Hermit emphasizes understanding, observing, looking for, knowing, patience and calmness. He is a healer or doctor, a friend, and a friend who helps. He is also an old man (or sometimes older man). We aren’t using his other meanings today.

Three of Swords Separations, divorce, breaking up, animosity and hostility, being against, opposing, being nasty or snarly or very edgy – any kind of rejection, including rejecting one choice for another. Three of swords also refers to heart trouble, surgery, storm and heartache. One of those Rider Waite Tarot cards whose meanings you can guess: A heart with knives piercing it, and gray clouds and rain behind it.

Chariot You can guess its vehicle meanings. This brings up ‘drive’ which suggests ambition. That is further extended to success and accomplishment: This is the decision-maker whose project succeeds. Not obvious is that Chariot succeeds deliberately through strategy. This is an esoteric Rider Waite Tarot citizen: The reversed colors on the sphinxes indicate their different natures, and Chariot (with his magic wand) is getting them going in the same direction, the direction he wills them to.

Eight of Cups takes a quick right turn here because the terrain forces him to. He too is on the road, but he gets off of it at least for now and heads in a different direction. The end of one thing begins another or vice versa. Continues on despite a disruption. It’s just another phase, but I’m out of here.

Meanings and Illustrations: Observation of the Spread

Hermit and Chariot are both on the road, and both have an intention, a purpose. Hermit is looking, searching, seeking, and is volunteering to be of help. He is devoted and sincere, a caretaker. Chariot is ambitious, purposeful, masterful – a success for himself, the type that gets ahead.

Hermit and Six of Cups are sincere, trusting, old-fashioned, loving, devoted, kind, helpful, sweet …

Hermit is well-intentioned toward strangers, is traveling, and is honest, and Six of Cups is affectionate toward a specific other person and is home. Hermit is celibate (or monogamous, depending on the question) and Six of Cups is romantic, or focuses on a child or children.

Hermit and Ten of Wands are both moving forward patiently.

Six of Cups and Ten of Wands refer to longstanding issues or situations. Six of Cups is the past, the good old days, and pleasant nostalgia – once again, stationary at home; whereas Ten of Wands is difficult, depressing, and on its way to somewhere else.

Chariot and Ten of Wands both arrive, both accomplish their task. It’s just that Chariot sails through whatever the difficulty is, and Ten of Wands is bowed down by it.

Hermit’s story is that of a monk in the service of travelers. He is out at night seeking people to help. He is going to them. This is a friend, caretaker, honest man or person. He is devoted. Often he stands for an old man or older person.

Chariot is master of circumstances, ambitious and successful. This Rider Waite Tarot card is about ‘tacking against the wind,’ about using elements that are against you advantageously, and about being aware of the downside of the elements that are in your favor overall. He is on the road to get ahead. This card is about willpower, purpose, deliberate action. He is masterful. Note that he isn’t macho or pushy, he is self-confident and businesslike.

Six of Cups is so sweet, is as devoted as the Hermit. It calls forth romance, children, home (as in home-sweet-home), the good old days – the past we look back to fondly, the old neighborhood or childhood home.

Ten of Wands is overwhelmed, it’s too much, it’s taking on the whole task at one time and making very slow progress. It’s being depressed and slow-moving. BUT it gets there. This is a card of eventual success. It often refers to ‘eventual.’ The illustration in Rider Waite is very graphic: A man is loaded down with all those boards, carrying them all in one load to their destination.

Here’s the spoiler-card story again, and again as the very first card. The Devil, yet. He is being a problem, a difficulty, the worst, disabilities, your dark side, a bad situation, the worst part. The Devil is being his ugly self here, doing his devil job.

The next two Rider Waite Tarot cards mean great success: Wheel of Fortune means miracle, wonderful, the best possible, to best advantage, good luck, high stakes, and it shows what looks like a roulette wheel with all kinds of occult critters and symbols. I think the wheel is karma? Anyway, the other success card is Chariot, which means to get ahead, to achieve, to arrive, to be a master or expert, to manage, and so on. It also means a vehicle of any kind (even an aircraft or boat), which turns the light the Hermit is carrying into a headlight. The charioteer in the illustration is a master of his wayward steeds who will arrive at his destination despite them rather than because of them, and he is very sure of his skill and ability to do so.

Over them all is the Hermit, the one who knows, the helpful person, looking for a way, finding or showing a way, looking for ___, the physician or healer, looking at or analyzing, the calm and patient person. The illustration shows the monk out at night with his light on the road looking to help with a traveler’s problem. So, both Hermit and Chariot have expert knowledge and skills.

So we have a disabled thing that is the problem; a miracle; the one who made this happen; and the knowledge to have done that. This is the simple story, the main story. The advice derived from the story is to pay attention to the downside, go looking for the problem and capitalize on it, base your success on the downside as well as the upside, get the two working in tandem for you (like those steeds of the Charioteer). How to do this? – Hermit is analysis, a really good look, a patient approach. So, yes, you go looking for the devil to use him to fund your success. Happy hunting!
