Synopsis

Pictured here are two separate stereotypes. What the stereotypes have in common is charisma, being outgoing, and leadership. One is the flashy flamboyant studly extrovert who’s a manipulative player. (Think Liberace; think ‘I’m too sexy for my shirt.’) The other is the financier, banker, politician, mob boss, very public man with influence and money who is very much an extrovert. Think Al Capone or Donald Trump.

High Priestess

In this particular Tarot company, High Priestess is limited to her quiet zone – all the meanings that are about a behind-the-scene quiet lady, a low-profile lady who stays at home, a spiritual person, a secretary. In this spread, World has stolen her thunder because High Priestess and World mean much of the same things, and World has some phrases that dovetail with King of Pentacles (i.e., his influence and World being impervious to it – as well as World’s shapely figure and his studly ways). World

World has many meanings on many levels. That wreath is a wall that keeps interference out – lots of meanings there, including ‘Teflon person.’ The wreath actually depicts a magic circle, and World is a master magician. (See the two wands – Chariot, another master, has them too.) That wreath-wall is how World gets to mean so many applications that involve shutting out and being unavailable to influences, something being ‘off limits,’ and how World gets to mean all of its ‘superior person doing her own thing’ meanings. You can think of this illustration as ‘dancing to a different drummer,’ because World is dancing.

You can see how World is a ‘don’t call me; I’ll call you’ Tarot card as Nine of Pentacles (another superior woman) is. Very common everyday words and phrases for World include: woman who will have nothing to do with,  superior female,  she is not paying attention to him,  does not get through to her,  her shapely figure.

 

 

 

This is a dreaded spread: Three court cards or ‘people cards.’  Difficult ones too as far as having meaning that makes good talk. Huh-huh, not these. High Priestess and World are not only women Tarot cards, they are almost identical women. Here are some things they have in common: secretive and private; experts, knowledgeable; spiritual and/or esoteric adepts; live (or are stationed) alone; not responsive to contact; above reproach.

A difference between High Priestess and World is that High Priestess is receptive but World shuts out outside influences. Another difference is that High Priestess is reclusive but World is a shapely dame who can be a dancer. High Priestess is the other woman, and World isn’t seeing anyone.

We lack an action card, as well. Our main story is that Mr. King of Pentacles is this extroverted influential mover and shaker, and the girl is, or girls are, quiet and private individuals.
