Whether we decide to get out, or decide to get on with it, we decide fast and do the move fast. We are also taking on the responsibility to do several things at a time – to multitask. We even are on the road getting somewhere faster by over-the-road transport. Rush is the keyword for the moment – but we are getting there, we are accomplishing the task.

Knight of Wands
Knight of Wands is obviously about movement and about hurry – about being on the road in a hurry too (speeding). You can see great energy in the racing horse. Getting ahead, being on the fast track, rush jobs, rushing through.
Eight of Wands
Main meanings of Eight of Wands in our spread today are: one after the other, many, a lot of, fast and quickly and hurriedly and rush. Eight of Wands, though, often is about communications of any sort – verbal and written of course, but this Eight of Wands could be smoke signals or telepathy. The picture doesn’t relate to that, but this shows up in real Tarot practice.
Chariot
First, the chariot is a vehicle, so it is any transportation. The Charioteers in their day ran the war show, and their strategies were responsible for victory. So Chariot is in charge of getting the job done, is the project manager. Chariot is getting it done by any means possible, which is expressed by the fact he uses magic wands to get (his vehicle) ahead, and it’s magic sphinxes he has hitched to his chariot. Today he is all about getting it done, about responsibility, about deciding and accomplishing. Chariot is purpose, aim, success and ambition, commonly. He can simply be the manager in some spreads.
|
Now Without The Pictures
|
Two cards that mean fast (Knight of Wands and Eight of Wands), and one that means a vehicle and getting ahead and getting something done(Chariot). So obviously we are all about getting something done in a hurry.
We are about taking charge, being responsible, when you know Chariot is the manager – the project manager, the strategist.
A small factor is that Eight of Wands means many, more, a lot of, a list, one thing after another, as well as talk (or any communication). It’s ‘many’ category of meanings, when it joins with Chariot who gets it done, says ‘multitasking,’ which is kind of unexpected. But it does.
Knight of Wands and Chariot is a speeding vehicle. These two Rider Waite Tarot cards say ‘deciding (Chariot) to get ahead (Knight of Wands).’ They are also on the fast track (Knight of Wands) to success (Chariot). Knight of Wands and Chariot are ‘decide to leave’ too.
Knight of Wands and Chariot BOTH mean ‘to get ahead’ and BOTH also mean ‘fast,’ which complicates the task of assigning cards to the phrases in the sentences.

Tarot Verbatim
GUIDANCE We exercise our motivation on obstacles, and we need the exercise, so we are grateful for the obstacles. You gun the engine when you’re stuck just as you rev up when something’s impossible. In both cases you get going. Some things one just doesn’t rush through, but rushing can get you through stuff you otherwise wouldn’t get through. It’s strategy that determines whether we get stuck or we get out.

Knight of Wands – Chariot – Eight of Swords
.
LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING
.
………………….…………………... Interesting trio we got here today! Immediately you see speeding (Knight of Wands), a vehicle (Chariot), and being stuck (Eight of Swords). So we gun the engine when we’re stuck. Chariot is success and strategy and determination – getting the job done any way it can be done – and Eight of Swords is impossible, is limitations, is ‘can’t.’ So we are doing (Chariot) the impossible (Eight of Swords) in a hurry (Knight of Wands). The mood of this spread is very upbeat despite the wet blanket of Eight of Swords (which, by the way, is the card that actually means death in Tarot Verbatim).
………………………….. Knight of Wands is in a hurry, and is exerting himself with great energy. Look around him for whether he is pursuing or running away; he can do either. His horse is rearing despite his desire to speed ahead, which exemplifies how when you rush things don’t go smoothly. Knight of Wands is getting ahead, and is being on the fast track.
………………………….. Chariot is the project manager – the man in charge of a campaign or enterprise or job. He makes decisions. It is also a vehicle literally, especially today. The underlying meaning of Chariot is strategy: Chariot has harnessed sphinxes to his vehicle, and sphinxes move only in one turning direction, so he has hitched the left-turning one to the left of the right turning one so they are in each other’s way and end up moving forward. (Notice his reins are magic wands). The concept in Chariot is to arrive, to succeed, to get ‘er done by any means possible, using factors that are against you creatively so that they are grist for your forward motion.
………………………….. Eight of Swords is being tied up. (How did I guess?) It means can’t and unable quite often, and impossible – limitations of any kind, including handicaps. Eight of Swords is stuck, is helpless, is a dead end. Eight of Swords is the main card for death, so in theory these sentences could be death in a speeding auto or in an auto race, but I did not put that in the one-sentence readings because these cards don’t really establish a theme about that; their theme is getting past factors that impede. Eight of Swords means those impeding factors, factors that would shut (it) down. Unexpectedly, this card shows up meaning a container or ‘contained’ too. It says ‘isn’t available’ when that phrase refers to something that can’t be done – for example these three cards could say ‘The bullet train isn’t available.’ Knight of Wands is the bullet (speedy) and Chariot is the train (vehicle), and Eight of Swords’ translating ‘isn’t available’ is saying the trip cannot be taken, then.
………..………….. Knight of Wands and Chariot Knight of Wands and Chariot is a speeding vehicle. It is deciding (Chariot) to get ahead (Knight of Wands); it is being on the fast track (Knight of Wands) to success (Chariot). Knight of Wands and Chariot are ‘decide to leave’ too. You can see gunning the car engine here too: Chariot is the vehicle and Knight of Wands is energetically moving forward, leaving where it is. x..
………..………….. Knight of Wands and Eight of Swords Knight of Wands and Eight of Swords combine speed and the impossible, speed and the impeding factor (like a governor on the engine of a vehicle, for instance). Since Eight of Swords is can’t, and Knight of Wands is a rush, you can’t rush through, or it can’t be done in a hurry. These two cards imply ‘the glass ceiling’ – can’t be on the fast track, or can’t get ahead. x..
……………………… Chariot and Eight of Swords Chariot and Eight of Swords is the stuck vehicle. They say you can’t succeed, and it’s impossible to get that done. Eight of Swords is the can’t, and Chariot gets ahead and gets it done. The concept of strategy when things are impossible is right here too, because always remember Chariot is having the strategy. x..
There’s a saying that ‘The impossible just takes longer,’ and that’s what we are about today. We emphasize the motivation that graces us when we have a desire to escape or a desire to get something done when something’s in the way of that. What’s success unless you whipped something on the way to it?

LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES
Knight of Wands ……… Knight of Wands is obviously about movement and about hurry. You can see great energy in the racing horse. Getting ahead, being on the fast track, rush jobs, rushing through, and phrases like ‘Run for the hills’ belong to this illustration. Both Knight of Wands and Knight of Swords can be either pursuing or chasing, coming to or leaving (and Knight of Swords can be turning around at high speed). The surrounding cards, and the question or subject, tell you which it is. In the case of Knight of Swords, the illustration reminds us how things don’t go smoothly when we rush: The horse is losing him time by rearing up.
.
Chariot …………. Chariot’s illustration isn’t obvious. Here’s his back story: Charioteers were the strategists and the heroes of ancient warfare. Often, their work was what won or lost battles. They were in charge. So in your spread, Chariot means the manager, the person in charge of the project or enterprise, the one who gets the job done. Chariot, therefore, also represents success, a successful person – and responsibility. Chariot is the go-to person, not the desk-bound CEO.
.
Eight of Swords ………. Eight of Swords is a good card for what I call can’t-itis, that ‘I can’t’ that really means ‘I’m not going to try.’ Eight of Swords expresses self-limiting very well. The ties are loose, she is standing, and no one’s around. This is a picture, too, of being shut out of the family (the house way up there on the hill). Although Eight of Swords is the lead card for the theme of death, that isn’t one of its main meanings, so you don’t go ’round using it for that in a spread like this that is about whether you get things done or not.
Eight of Swords’ most frequent words and phrases are: can’t, unable, impossible, limitations, stuck, helpless, trapped, no choice, prevents from, boxed in, impeding factors or impedes, what holds (you) back or keeps you from, handicap, disability or disabled. It can represent, for example, an appliance that is ‘dead,’ that cannot function. Sometimes it represents being locked or locked in, or in a safe, or in a container, but not very often.
Eight of Swords pops up in strange places. Keep that in the back of your mind – that it will sometimes seem out of place. For example a clause in a contract can lock a party into something, and be something you can’t do anything about.

Tarot Verbatim
Guidance How to get there? That’s what we are *on about* right now. Reminding myself that first I decide upon a destination I desire. To decide, I investigate – I observe, watch and look around me. What are the road conditions, and can my vehicle make it on time? I get the knowledge, and I get the energy, and I get the willpower that it takes to get to my destination. I determine whether I should just quit or whether I can pursue this successfully. I determine which parts I can do quickly, and which will take some patience and be more gradual – the fast lane and the slow lane. Lastly, I remember what my driving instructor said, and I keep my mind on the road.

…………….………… Chariot Chariot is on the road in a vehicle. Chariot also stands for purpose, aim, intent, ambition, arriving (getting there), success, and being in charge, being responsible, for a project.
…….…..………………………. Hermit and Knight of Wands Hermit is an old man, known for being patient and maybe slow or gradual; Knight of Wands is a young man, known for being hotheaded and going fast.
…….…..………………………. Hermit, with Chariot, could be a vehicle in the slow lane
…….…..………………………. Knight of Wands, with Chariot, could be a vehicle in the fast lane.
………..………………………… Hermit and Chariot Hermit and Chariot both have a purpose or mission. Hermit is out looking for souls in distress on the road that he brings help (and truth?) to. Chariot’s mission is to get a project done, to accomplish his ambition, aim, or purpose – by any means possible. While Hermit is honest, Chariot is going to get whatever he is dedicated to done by any means.
So our study today is about deciding on a purpose, checking out how best to do it, and achieving it. The main point is to look where we are going with our intended destination in mind. ‘Keep your mind on the road,’ as driving instructors say.

Hermit ………. . Hermit’s several applications arise, as usual, from his illustration: He is an older man, a celibate monk, out on the road at night looking for people to help. He is coming to them. He has that life purpose that he is dedicated to. He is honest, and, on foot in the dark with snow on his path, he is slow. Sincerity and friendship also belong in his word list.
Knight of Wands …………. Knight of Wands is an energetic doer, a young man. He is going fast, speeding in a rush – either pursuing or fleeing (depending upon the information the question or from surrounding cards). He is on the road going from one place to another anyway.
Chariot………. Here is the project manager, the man in charge, the special ops person too. He is known for strategy and willpower – for getting the job done by any means possible: He can be ruthless. He is skilled, and may be spiritually skilled too. Charioteers were the backbone of ancient armies.

Four Card Spreads, Our Daily Spread
Advice today is the age old drama of whether to flee the dysfunctional bunch of people or to wade in and set things straight like a true leader. But of course, we also say ‘When your energy is going full-bore into your own progress, your own mastery of your situation, other people are not a problem for you.’ So then you don’t have to choose between running away and wading in. Don’t let them get away with that, too. ============================================================================= Is this the first time you come here? Well … what to do:
*Go to Daily Message Tarot Analysis below. At least one of those sentences has something to say to you. Pick those out. They are about you and the people around you. They are about today and the days around it. (It is a group message like a horoscope, except Tarot isn’t based on someone else’s birth data, so it can be specific, accurate, detailed and direct. Our experiment here is “How much more accurate is it?”)
The Question for weekdays is: “Tell the visitors here something useful and meaningful to them.”
The Question for weekends is stated right on top on those days. Comment or call if you have a suggestion for a question.
(Some days are ‘keep an eye open for’ and some days are ‘green light, go fast.’)
*Go to Advice to apply what those sentences say (in the best way) for you. (Advice is everyone’s favorite part.) Did you come here for your predictions? – You are done now – See you tomorrow.
Without a question to focus the answer, four cards can mean contradictory things especially when the Spread has a card that negates other cards. Without a question also the pronouns in a group reading are more flexible, especially in some of these Rider Waite Tarot spreads. When a pronoun is in parentheses, feel very free to substitute. The question in a ‘real’ individual reading supplies at least half the information!
======================================================================== Knight of Wands Chariot, Ten of Pentacles, Death DAILY MESSAGE TAROT ANALYSIS Tell the visitors here something useful and meaningful to them. Personal Success Perspective When your energy is going full-bore into your own progress, your own mastery of your situation, other people are not a problem for you. He drives fast but doesn’t get in trouble. Fast progress in your ambition, people not interfering. This is a fast-moving company with him at the helm: no politics. In a hurry to accomplish the purpose of stopping lowlifes Not involved in other people’s business, pursuing your own. Risk Management/Preventing Harm Perspective He is/You are not letting them get away with that! He/You stop(s) the malcontents from making trouble before they take over the place. In charge of the risks in the (company) that create problems, to stop things from going that way. Chases the bad guys in (his) vehicle and stops them. Exert authority to stop the troublemakers from getting on with it. He stops them from escaping in his house. He stops them from leaving the (damaged) building. Stop the criminals’ getaway vehicle. He steers the enterprise away from ending up with those people. He isn’t letting the crooks get away with that. There’s no getting away from ‘car trouble.’ Choosing Perspective Runaway problems unless you take charge. Get yourself out of there or you will end up in bad company. In no rush to drive to these disagreeable people’s house. Politician chooses not to run. No choice, get out of that neighborhood. Choose not to run from trouble with them. Have no trouble with them if you choose to avoid it. Not of (his) own choosing did (he) leave that place in a hurry: Trouble! Miscellaneous Is not moving out of the dysfunctional family situation to have a life of his/her own. People who aim to make trouble don’t leave. Death in a speeding vehicle involves the mob. He isn’t running away from home. ==================================================================================== Now, Part Two,

MEANINGS AND ILLUSTRATIONS: OBSERVATION OF THE SPREAD Four unrelated cards often make many different sentences. True here today. We do have a bit of a theme though: Chariot is a vehicle, and Knight of Wands is speeding over the road. Right in the middle we have (Ten of Pentacles) people who don’t get along or the bad guys. To the left, handling the situation, being the leader who achieves his purpose, is Mr. Chariot ‘straight arrow,’ and above is putting energy into the pursuit of that purpose, Knight of Wands, or maybe running away from that dysfunctional bunch of acquaintences. Standing by ready to despoil any one of those concepts with his ‘no’ vote is Death. MEANINGS AND ILLUSTRATIONS: INDIVIDUAL RIDER WAITE TAROT CARDS Chariot is deliberate purposeful intent, ambition, achievement, success, getting the job done. It is a vehicle of any kind. It is about using the factors that disfavor your purpose to further your purpose. That idea is illustrated by the two sphinxes that pull in opposite directions while the driver must get the ‘forward’ show on the road. Ten of Pentacles are those Bad People (BP) over there … maybe dysfunctional us? They are the office politics, they are the (corrupt) politicians, they are the low class relatives and ghettoites … and the other side – maybe even of a sports game. The people who make our problems, who are the trouble with our family, neighborhood, county, state, nation and world. You know. Those guys. Its illustration shows, of course, a three-generational family quarrel: Gloating Grampa, Wife with Grievance, Husband who ain’t listenin’ to Granmpa, Wife, or Squalling Brat. You know. That silent stare. A nice normal dysfunctional family like we have. Death is the Great Negator “No.” It’s any negative word, and in a spread of this type, where each card is equal and not assigned to a position that gives it meaning (It doesn’t have a Self, or Cover, or any positional aspect like that), then it can modify negatively any of the other three cards. Sometimes that is a frustrating funny. Knight of Wands is in a hurry, a rush, is speeding on the road, is getting away from or out of, or is pursuing avidly and energetically. Boogetty, boogetty. You can see his horse almost airborne, the wind in his clothes and helmet scarf. His club is not extended. I still say he is more fleeing than pursuing.
