Guidance

We have this inner beacon that says ‘too weird’ and ‘too normal.’ Yes, we do – even the biggest conformists among us, and even the biggest mavericks among us. Of course, our beacons are not set to the same scale, but somehow we as sane people get our minds together enough to form a behavior-and-image profile with ranges acceptable to all. This is a function of our wonderful herd instincts as mammals. Yay for us!

Could This Be You?

Picture this: You look at the cards in your spread.
You immediately get an idea because you know a few of them intimately.
AND you know a system that works because you have had a few

GUIDANCE Did you come here for Your Daily Predictions? Good! Guidance provides your predictions in a summary. It is the Guidance received for you through three Rider Waite Tarot™ cards, using Tarot Verbatim™.

GROUP TAROT READINGS Here are several one-sentence readings that are predictions for you and the people around you for today and the days around it. Here Tarot is talking to you: These sentences express word-for-word, verbatim, the meanings of those three Tarot cards. You choose which sentences apply to you, and you choose whether to encourage them or not.

SYNOPSIS Located right after the Group Tarot Cards Reading sentences, is a deeper expression of today’s Guidance. Read this too for your predictions. Here you complete your predictions experience. The rest of the page is more about learning to love and learn Tarot Verbatim™.

LEARN TAROT CARDS BY PICTURES Are you ready to begin learning Tarot Verbatim™? Here your in-depth meanings come alive for each of the three cards! In Tarot Verbatim™, pictures make the meaning, so each card is like a person you know and remember.

WITHOUT THE PICTURES For the true seeker of Tarot knowledge, here is what you need to know about how the three cards in today’s spread affect one another, and how to apply Tarot Verbatim™. Here too the cards come alive, together.

WHERE EACH PHRASE COMES FROM At a glance, with a color for each card, your subconscious picks up on how the sentences of GROUP TAROT CARDS READING came to be. You feel how individual card meanings reach out and blend, unite, into a sentence. (You can learn this – yes, you!) Your subconscious awareness sees the image and its feeling and your conscious awareness sees the language meaning, the text… so your two minds focus together to see 3D, three dimensionally, the same way your two eyes see depth that one eye does not.

PHRASES FOR ALL THREE TWO CARD COMBINATIONS Are you ready for the final step of this revolutionary Tarot Verbatim™ technique? Now to make it exceedingly plain and simple, we list the expressions each pair of cards makes. We list them in paragraph form rather than itemized so that they flow, and your subconscious clicks into place and ‘gets it.’ You may even find flashes of dreams or intuitive realities as you read these, at times.

The Rider Waite Tarot™ deck is a data bank in mass consciousness that your subconscious can communicate with. Tarot Verbatim™ is the Rosetta Stone that makes that communication easy because it is a bridge between conscious and subconscious thought. When both your levels of awareness focus together, you think intuitively in real time in ‘the real world.’

Bon voyage!

Tarot Readings : Page of Cups and Hierophant
Page of Cups Hierophant

How could I be right all the time?

Can I fit in, eventually?

We question the sanity of all this.

If you’re normal, you’re slow.

I always think I’m okay.

Gay or straight, it’s a hard life.

Why can’t you be like everyone else? – why do you take on so much?

That funny feeling you get when things have been uneventful for too long.

With a lot of effort, I think I can pass.

Why am I feeling so down when things are okay?

I always think I’m safe.

Normal people are always such idiots.

Isn’t it normal to be depressed?

Tarot Readings : Page of Cups and Ten of Wands
Page of Cups Ten of Wands

Takes a dummy like me forever to be average.

When you doubt about it, it takes longer to suppose you’re right about it.

How long is the situation going to be as good as it is?

Have I gone too far behaving myself?

It’s so hard for me, I doubt myself passing this.

I have a lot of questions about religion.

It’s taking a while for me to fit in, but I think I am.

It’s so hard to make sense of this crazy stuff.

It takes a while to straighten me out when I’m off the wall.

It’s so hard for a crazy dude like me to appear normal.

Tarot Readings : Hierophant and Ten of Wands
Hierophant Ten of Wands

How can a person be okay most of the time?

How burdensome is the Establishment, really?

Fitting in slows me down, so why should I?

Am I entirely too comfortable here?

Am I too too normal?

Being too normal is foolish.

Are we moving just right or too slow?

I suspect I am slower than normal.

Keeping things as they should be indefinitely … maybe?

Call me strange, but I’m very harmless.

It’s silly to be too good.

Synopsis

What we notice first and remember most about other people, and what they notice first and remember most about us, is where we differ from the norm. ‘He is so hardworking,’ they say, and ‘She doesn’t eat much.’ You get famous for one trait because people only read the title of the book. You can hide a lot between the covers.

Page of Cups

Page of Cups

Page of Cups is a walking talking breathing question mark. This card may be instructing you to put your sentence into question form. Page of Cups is unsure of himself. Page of Cups is the weirdo, the maverick, the doubter. Page of Cups means ‘silly’ and is proud of that.

Hierophant

Hierophant

Hierophant is being average, behaving yourself, conforming. You see the pope doing a ritual with his helpers: That is the routine they do. The main point of Hierophant is ‘within normal limits’ and ‘acceptable behavior.’ Its underlying, core, meaning is about face – about the image we project to be politely acceptable to the people we associate with … and the image they project to be what we will accept. It’s a treaty! This is all so surface. Underneath … hell, we could be embracing, throwing rocks at one another, or anything in between. Keeping the peace has its price, Hierophant is informing us. Today we question the sanity of all that.

Ten of Wands

Ten of Wands

It takes longer when you pile the whole task into just one trip. That’s an extreme. That’s ‘very.’ The extreme part is today’s focus. Ten of Wands is ‘too.’ Too much, too hard, too long, too slow. Always too. And life is harder when you’re slow. Ten of Wands features the kind of slow you are when you are ‘giving it all you got.’

Now Without The Pictures

Ten of Wands is too much. Hierophant is the modicum, the average, the midpoint, the acceptable, the normal – and is conforming. Page of Wands is being weird, and is questioning this scene. What a picture these three cards make!

We are talking about projecting our image within normal limits: Are we too straight?; Are we too weird? Are we okay, or are we ‘too much’ or ‘too far out’? It’s so hard for a crazy dude like me to appear normal. That’s one of the things these three cards are saying. Can you relate to that? If you can’t: Being too normal is foolish, the same spread also is saying. Not to mention that weird feeling I get when things have been uneventful too long … or when I have behaved myself this long. Why can’t I be like everyone else, anyway?

Time to determine if we are flying under the radar of the median average consciousness around us. If you are “They think you’re weird.”

Tarot Readings for You for December 4, 2013 Wednesday©

Guidance     Suggests that everything is always open to question; that a life philosophy of doubt regarding dogma in spirituality is appropriate. It says the street signs are hidden. It boils down to an odd way of saying ‘Keep an open mind.’ This concept is extended to what price to pay for physical items and to skepticism regarding what people say or claim. It leaves you with a head full of question marks and claims that is what should be there.

Are YOU here for the first time? Come in!

People love this place! Our site is divided into four sections: Guidance, Tarot Readings, Learn Tarot by Observation, and Learn Tarot by Pictures.
If you just want your daily look ahead, Guidance and Tarot Readings are all you need. ‘Guidance’ (above) is a summary of what the cards are telling visitors to be aware of this day.

‘Group Tarot Cards Reading’ (just below this) is the actual word-for-word messages from the pictures of the four cards you see – to everyone. These readings are about you and the people around you.  They are about today and the days around it. So, go ahead and pick the sentences you feel are yours and decide whether to encourage or reject them for yourself.

Did you come here for your predictions? – You are done now – See you tomorrow. The family of commenters here would love for you to join in (the very last thing, at the bottom).

Tarot Readings: Take/Pay a Little Less (Four of Pentacles and Ace of Pentacles)

How can that not be enough? That is the correct price.

How are we supposed to pay for it with that little money?

Feel awkward that I don’t have quite enough money to cover it.

I should get paid but maybe will take less.

We should be able to get it for less: Ask.

Maybe it’s not quite up to par, but it’s worth it.

Take a little less for the ordinary one, why not?

How can you give the church money you don’t have?

Is it okay to reduce the payments?

Is being moderately successful okay?

Why should I pay retail for what is inferior?

Keep quiet when they ask about the sticker price.

Tarot Readings: A Right Way and a Church Way (Hierophant and Ace of Pentacles)

Well, maybe (I’m) not quite right but I’m proper.

Not quite the moral thing but it’s the right thing.

Won’t admit my doubts about the church and the spiritual path.

I’m on the Right Path but not very religious.

I don’t know whether the church is quite right.

Clings to belief in the church but has doubts about that being right.

Tarot Readings: Questioning the Official Story (Page of Cups and Hierophant)

That’s not quite the official story but I suspect I’m right.

What if we are right and they have withheld what’s correct?

Somebody’s official story is blarney; I withhold approval.

Are we supposed to be quiet when they give us that cleaned-up version?

Tarot Reading:s Is this the Right Road? (Page of Cups and Ace of Pentacles)

Where is the road? – The signs are hidden.

Is that the right road or should we adhere/stick to the usual way?

Don’t tell (them) the correct road when (they) ask.

Now,  Part Two,

Do you want to know a little, or a lot, about how this Tarot Verbatim™ thing works? If so,

*Go to Learn Tarot by Observing section below. This tells about the combined four pictures in the Tarot Readings – the pictures above here.  It explains how these four cards get together in your mind to make the messages.

*Go to Learn Tarot by Pictures.  It is what each of the four cards, by itself, has to say.  It shows you how that illustration makes that card’s meanings in today’s Spread. All the words of each Tarot card reading you see here are a phrase-by-phrase translation of the scene pictured on those cards: no filler, no psychic impressions, no spirit guide. Word-for-word Tarot Verbatim™.

You can put all this together and intuitively see yourself how Tarot Verbatim™ works.

This is a group reading, with no Questioner and no Question to limit what the cards say, so there’s more variety – even contradictions – and also the pronouns are more flexible. If it feels like it’s yours, and it says ‘he,’ and you’re a ‘she,’ feel free to adopt it anyway.

Ace of Pentacles

Four of Pentacles – Page of Cups – Hierophant

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

.

Both Hierophant and Ace of Pentacles mean right and correct. Hierophant is the official story, the cleaned up version for the public, the way we present ourselves to our public. Face. In the same way, it also represents the way pubic entities present themselves to us, the public. “Hypocrisy is the homage vice renders to virtue,” say some wise person.

Ace of Pentacles means ‘The Right Path’ in the spiritual sense and also the right road and the right price in the practical sense. This is not one of those flexible cards; it an an anchor card.

Page of Cups, on the other hand, questions all that ‘right’ stuff. He questions everything. He represents the ‘Is that a silly idea, or what?’ feeling. He feels silly, himself. He is in a ‘duh’ groove.

Four of Pentacles is the flexible one of today’s Rider Waite Tarot citizens. Its meanings embrace these phrases: less, not up to par, reduce, keep quiet, won’t admit, not very or not quite, withheld or withhold, clings to belief, hidden, adhere or stick to, and don’t tell. He stands for deeply held but private feelings.

Four of Pentacles and Page of Cups question deeply held beliefs. They say ‘Are we to keep quiet’ about something. See some others at the end of this when all the combinations and some key phrases are listed.

Page of Cups and Hierophant are opposites. Page of Cups is the misfit, the maverick, the fellow with the lampshade on his head at the party. Hierophant is the conformist, the buttoned-up proper person.

With two of our cards meaning correctness in Tarot Verbatim™, one meaning doubt, , and one meaning internal private feelings , our sentences are limited to attitudes and feelings about what is proper or acceptable. Page of Cups underlines this with its suggestion to put our sentence in question form.

OKAY. Here are the key phrases for our six combinations of Rider Waite Tarot cards:

Four of Pentacles and Page of Cups Question deeply held beliefs. ‘Are we to keep quiet?’ Don’t tell them when they ask. Won’t admit my doubts. How can that not be enough? Feel awkward that I don’t have enough (money). How can that not be enough?

Four of Pentacles and Hierophant Not quite proper. Not quite the official story. Not quite the moral thing. Cling to belief in the church. Not very religious. The signs are hidden. Not quite up to par. Don’t tell (them) the correct.

Four of Pentacles and Ace of Pentacles Not quite right. Withheld what is correct. Reduce the payments. Don’t have the money. Pay for what is inferior. Pay for it with that little money. Money you don’t have. Get it for less.

Page of Cups and Hierophant Is that proper? Question the official story. Official story is blarney. Doubts about being right. ‘Is that correct?’ Maybe it’s up to par. Maybe it’s okay. Is that respectable? Is being moderately …? The maverick and the conformist. ‘Do I pass? – Do I fit in?’

I suspect I’m right. Is this the right road? Ask what road, ask the way to. Why pay? Ask about the price. Ridiculous price.

Proper and right. Pay retail. Correct price. Moderately successful. Should pay. Moderately successful. Enough money to cover it. Give the church money.

LEARN TAROT BY PICTURES

.

Four of Pentacles depicts a fellow holding onto his money. He sits in the street outside of town clutching his cash, hugging himself. He has some secret, the picture suggests. That is where the meanings about keeping quiet and not telling or not talking come from. The picture suggests stinginess, withholding. Four of Pentacles’ most frequent application is ‘not enough,’ in the senses of being inferior, being short of, less than, not quite, budget. Four of Pentacles also, since he is hugging himself and is all alone, means deeply held beliefs, something precious that one clings to, and ‘deep down inside,’ which expands to include internal organs in questions that involve that. P. S. He can be sulking, too!

Page of Cups The silly fellow with a fish in a cup, who is wearing a getup, could be a court jester. He stands for questions and doubts and feeling awkward and being, yes, a fool. He stands for “I don’t know.” The misfit. This is you when you go to a new place and everyone else is dressed differently from you. This is being the idiot.

Hierophant The official story or official reality. Also physical reality, ‘mundane,’ what we call ‘the real world,’ and the label or name … the papers or documents, or certificate. ‘Should’ and ‘supposed to’ are frequent phrases for Hierophant – what you are supposed to do and be and believe to fit in, to conform. Hierophant is being up to par: the passing grade, the middle class. Being a moral good respectable citizen.

The illustration here is the pope in a ceremony for the public. Hierophant contrasts the official public story or teachings with whatever the theologians, the people in the know, believe.

Ace of Pentacles also means ‘right.’ It is about a road and also the spiritual path. It is about money paid or received. Its illustration shows the Right Hand Path (metaphysics) or the Straight and Narrow Road (Christianity) or the Middle Way (Buddhism). Probably every religion uses this wording in some way. It shows a hand with money in it above the path: success is the result of being spiritual or observant.

Our Daily Spread June 11, 2011

This Weekend’s Question is: A Satisfactory Love Life. Advice asks questions of us when we ask about a satisfactory love life. ‘Why are you in this situation?’ is its basic question of us. Implication is obvious: If we want a love life that is satisfactory, we should not tarry in a situation that is not making us happy. It reminds me of Ann Lander’s famous ‘Are you better off with or without this person?’ It suggests not rewarding a partner who is not rewarding us. ========================================================================= Is this the first time you come here? Well … what to do: *Go to Daily Message Tarot Analysis below. At least one of those sentences has something to say to you. Pick those out. They are about you and the people around you. They are about today and the days around it. (It is a group message like a horoscope, except Tarot isn’t based on someone else’s birth data, so it can be specific, accurate, detailed and direct. Our experiment here is “How much more accurate is it?”) The Question for weekdays is: “Tell the visitors here something useful and meaningful to them.” The Question for weekends is stated right on top on those days. (Some days are ‘keep an eye open for’ and some days are ‘green light, go fast.’) *Go to Advice to apply what those sentences say (in the best way) for you. (Advice is everyone’s favorite part.) Did you come here for your predictions? – You are done now – See you tomorrow. Without a question to focus the answer, four cards can mean contradictory things especially when the Spread has a card that negates other cards. Without a question also the pronouns in a group reading are more flexible, especially in some of these Rider Waite Tarot spreads. When a pronoun is in parentheses, feel very free to substitute. The question in a ‘real’ individual reading supplies at least half the information! ======================================================================== DAILY MESSAGE TAROT ANALYSIS Tell the visitors here something useful and meaningful to them. Woman’s Perspective Why are you putting so much into a fella who can’t commit? If he can’t be decent to you, why are you taking such good care of him? She seems to be stuck in ‘give’ mode: Is this the way it should be? Is it really a good thing for a woman to limit herself to taking care of a man? Maybe she should tie her money up, in her name. Should she let her money be tied up in his business? Her foolish generosity keeps her from having a normal life. If it isn’t going to be the way it should, why are you investing yourself in it? With all her talent and ability, why does she confine herself to the traditional caretaking role? Man’s Perspective Why are you committing to a woman who is so possessive she ties you up? He guesses she should do the bookkeeping since he can’t. Is this normal? Why would my woman limit herself only to my business? Gee, why can’t I be with a good woman who really cares for me? Why do I feel stuck when I have a nice normal woman who helps me out? If your woman is being decent to you, are you limited just to her? He seems to think it’s normal that she can’t give him anything. Why can’t she just be the usual woman that takes care of a guy? ======================================================================== Now, Part Two, Do you want to know a little, or a lot, about how this Tarot Verbatim ™ thing works? If so, *Go to the first Meanings and Illustrations section below. This tells about the combined four pictures in the Daily Spread – the pictures above here. It explains how these four cards get together to mean things. Then you can *Go to the second Meanings and Illustrations. It is what each of the four cards, by itself, has to say. It describes how that illustration makes that card’s meanings in this Spread. You can put all this together and see yourself how Tarot Verbatim ™ works. Photos of the animals are in with the articles I write for you. Click the link. Enjoy them too! The people who call me support these and other animals. 100 photos are not posted here yet. Say hello back! Comment! I spend two hours a day or more writing these to you. Remember to share your experience about our experiment here if you have words for it. Read others’ comments. And you can call me at the 800 99 3 6 9 12 number from Eastern 1 p. m. to Eastern 1 a. m. at least, every day. (3-6-9-12 like a clock. It makes a pattern on the phone as well – easy to remember.) I analyze business situations and personal relationships accurately from both Tarot and practical perspectives, and even make it fun. (Testimonials are on the web site. Just click the link.) ========================================================================= Meanings and Illustrations: Observation of the Spread The basic meanings of our four Rider Waite members of our Tarot spread today are: Why (a question form), woman who generously takes care of and is devoted to her man, commit or should, and can’t or limited, confined to. So the story is obvious and simple, with, as usual, some variation. Before this spread, there were several that also limited the story to a soap opera type situation like this does. They had few meanings and were even more obvious and even more simple. Soo, this must be what Tarot has to say to y’all today. Eight of Swords and Hierophant both mean to limit, but in very different ways. Eight of Swords is to be limited by being unable: You can’t. Hierophant means to be decent, traditional, normal – to limit to that range. And that’s it for cards with the same theme in today’s layout. Meanings and Illustrations: Individual Rider Waite Tarot Cards Page of Cups is a question. Why? What? It tells you as the reader to put the material in question form. It also means a weirdo, being confused or dumfounded, and feeling awkward. Silly is its word. Its illustration is a strangely dressed fellow who has a fish in a cup and is holding it out as if to display it, with a goofy expression on his face. Queen of Pentacles is the woman who is giving, who takes care of her man, who manages his business for him (and his money), who is a bookkeeper, who is possessive. She has money of her own. Sometimes she supports her man financially too. And sometimes she has ‘money of her own.’ Her illustration shows a lady looking fondly and intelligently (my opinion, of course) at the money she holds in her lap. She is surrounded by vegetation: fertile place equals money. She looks tall and perhaps even imposing. Hierophant here keeps meaning ‘committed.’ Other phrases: usual, normal, good, should, decent, in the name of. The core meaning of Hierophant is ‘the official story.’ It is about the difference in the dogma the Catholic church proclaims, and what it actually, behind the scenes, practices. The children’s version of politics type thing. So what is depicted is a formal public ritual. Eight of Swords can’t, is stuck, limited, tied up, isn’t, confined, and keeps (someone or something) from having/doing, etc. The lady in the illustration is tied up in a swamp with weapons around her, far away from her home on the hill, helpless and hopeless. She is not struggling.

It seems, in the real world, I am doing ‘way more than my part

Hierophant
Three of Pentacles, Page of Cups, Ten of Wands

Romantic Perspective from the Responsible Person:
This relationship is really old; when is he/she going to commit?
It seems, in the real world, I am doing ‘way more than my part.
What kind of relationship is this?  I am waiting for it to be official.
This is a long term committed relationship … but a strange one.
How long is it going to be before I have a relationship that is normal?

Romantic Perspective from the Other:
When you’re weird, it’s difficult to be normal in dealing with others.
How difficult is doing my part enough to pass?
This relationship is ‘way too normal for a maverick like me.
I get asked too many questions about doing my proper part in this deal.
What am I doing here? – this relationship is ‘way too straight for me.

Well, do we have the same relationship from two opposite views of it?  First – as you have probably learned by now – the Three of Pentacles is about relationship; next the ‘Duh’ Page of Cups, the dork or weirdo or whatever, a card that suggests the sentence is a question; then Ten of Wands is slow going and ‘too much.’  Atop these is the staid and sober Hierophant.  If it weren’t for that joker in the middle there, we would have a different story.  (Life is like that, isn’t it?)

Advice is ask yourself whether your relationship makes sense to you, whether you and yours are each doing parts or roles mutually agreed upon, and if not … well why take it seriously if the joker is in it?

Meanings and Illustrations:

Three of Pentacles: This is the relationship.  This is each person doing his/her part as agreed upon, the mutually rewarding and mutually satisfying deal.  Illustration shows an inspection that happens just before the architect gets his final (large) payment.

Page of Cups: As I said, the joker, and a card that suggests a question is afoot.  We see him calling up words like ‘maverick’ and ‘weird,’ but mostly Page of Cups is making the sentence a question.  By the way, in decks other than Rider Waite Tarot, I doubt if this meaning applies.

Ten of Wands: Oh, he is overloaded and going slow.  He has undertaken too much at once.  See the load of wood on his back?  He isn’t putting it down ‘til he gets to where it is going.  This is long term, this is ‘how long?’

Hierophant: The pope pictured here stands for the official story, being straight, normal and committed, the proper role, and the real, physical world.

She wants more than romance, she wants him to be her husband legally, and she isn’t getting it

Justice
King of Wands, Queen of Swords, Six of Cups

Romantic Perspective:
She wants more than romance, she wants him to be her husband legally, and she isn’t getting it.
His wife complains she isn’t getting the romantic attention she is entitled to.
She wants her husband to give her presents like he should.
He does not legally marry the mother of his children; she is bitter about that.
She nags her husband to give the children what they should have.

His ex-wife sues him for child support.  (She is the complainant in a lawsuit over what her husband is to give the children.)
Being married to a man who has kids is irritating to her.
The angry type man and the angry type woman have a romance and get married.
The ex-wife and husband have a lawsuit over who the children live with.
The wife gives her child something that is legally the husband’s.

Another simple story.  We have husband, King of Wands, the Justice card that makes that ‘legal husband,’ the woman who is angry, not getting what she wants and deserves, or is nagging and complaining (or is a complainant in a lawsuit), the Queen of Swords; and then the children or the romance, the Six of Cups.

This probably describes something happening in a visitor’s life, or in the life of people a visitor knows.  I can’t think of any advice it gives, at all. The King of Wands and Queen of Swords would be a VERY unpleasant couple, a warring couple, and they are married because King of Wands with Justice is legal husband, and children would be a part of that.  This spread could be a woman prosecuting a man for romance with an underage girl, or perhaps child molesting, but I did not include that.

Meanings and Illustrations:

King of Wands: This is, in the Tarot Verbatim school of Rider Waite, the classical husband card.  It also means the irritated, angry, edgy, ill-tempered and possibly ‘working-class’ or redneck man.  The illustration supports that meaning:  The salamander symbol by his side means ‘fiery.’  (It’s a middle ages thing, don’t ask.)  He is a red-head, of course.

Queen of Swords: This is the angry irritated nagging complaining wench who isn’t getting what she wants.  He hollers and she whines, so they make a warring couple.  She is pictured as missing a dead child (the child pictured on her chair) and is also seen as a widow.  She has her left hand out as if to say ‘Gimme and NOW would be good’ and her right hand clutching a big sword.

Six of Cups: This is children and romance and old fashioned warm fuzzy feelings.  Little boy gives little girl flowers in front of a quaint house (or two) of a large estate.

Justice: It means ‘legal’ of the ‘legal husband’ phrase.  Also means of course any kind of court action or legality.  It also means ‘should’ and ‘entitled.’

How come this bad boy is treating me right?

Six of Pentacles

Page of Cups, Hierophant, Five of Swords

It seems it’s a good day and you get your money back that was taken away.
Somehow he – the guy who does it his way – is being decent and treating you right.
Is this right?  This guy is taking more than his fair share.
How can this be a religious person when he is taking unfair advantage in the relationship?
How can this be a decent person when he is taking unfair advantage in the deal?
A guy who seems respectable gets you to pay.
Is this the way it should be?  That’s what you get for having an attitude.
Maybe he is really a good person, he paid a lot more than a fair price.

The contrast here is between being fair and being taken advantage of, between a fair deal and a ripoff, between a decent person (or man) and an opportunist – so I put it together in various ways.
