Guidance |
Here’s the point today: Just because you conform, just because you make sure you look good, speak well, keep your reputation and your vocabulary up, and so on … doesn’t mean you can’t be a good and decent person too. In other words, some people who keep a clean image are also clean underneath. Now that’s a novel thought, isn’t it? You could say cynicism is believing very little that’s projected, and naïveté is believing most of it. I am picturing a midpoint somewhere there, aren’t you?
Could This Be You?
Picture this: You look at the cards in your spread.
You immediately get an idea because you know a few of them intimately.
AND you know a system that works because you have had a few

WITHOUT THE PICTURES For the true seeker of Tarot knowledge, here is what you need to know about how the three cards in today’s spread affect one another, and how to apply Tarot Verbatim™. Here too the cards come alive, together.
PHRASES FOR ALL THREE TWO CARD COMBINATIONS Are you ready for the final step of this revolutionary Tarot Verbatim™ technique? Now to make it exceedingly plain and simple, we list the expressions each pair of cards makes. We list them in paragraph form rather than itemized so that they flow, and your subconscious clicks into place and ‘gets it.’ You may even find flashes of dreams or intuitive realities as you read these, at times.
The Rider Waite Tarot™ deck is a data bank in mass consciousness that your subconscious can communicate with. Tarot Verbatim™ is the Rosetta Stone that makes that communication easy because it is a bridge between conscious and subconscious thought. When both your levels of awareness focus together, you think intuitively in real time in ‘the real world.’
Bon voyage!

Synopsis |
This is a rather enlightening perspective on ordinary things, with a side order of amusing. As civilized people, we project an image of ourselves that other people can deal with comfortably. This face greases and eases social intercourse, and is a fine and admirable thing. It is also polite not to question the projections of other people. We extend that politeness to not questioning the projections of organizations.
So, in light of all these projections, and in light of the fact we knowingly ignore that they ARE projections, we also have a counter assumption: We have contempt, privately, or we attempt to, for all these projections as hypocrisy and as phony. It’s a terrible insult to call someone a phony or a hypocrite. We find ourselves secretly, privately, devaluing people whose persona is too clean, don’t we? – chumps! Squares! Goody-goodies! Goody-two-shoes!
Our enlightening perspective is that some people live their projection: They have made themselves into what is acceptable to everyone, and that is who they want to be and who they really are.
Underlying this rumination is an invitation to live up to the projection, and/or to move the projection closer to what you are living, or a little of each, so the two can be the same or similar.

Page of Wands
Page of Wands is our Prince Charming, the handsome well-dressed well-spoken likable fellow. He deliberately projects a good image, and he may be vain or even foppish (the metrosexual thing, you know). Today we emphasize the projection of the good image because our whole theme is the distinction between our public image and who we are. He also means any form of the word ‘talk.’
Page of Pentacles
Introspection, here. He is about identity, about ‘who I am.’ He is examining that pentacle, and this thinking, feeling, opinion and observation is largely who Page of Pentacles is. He focuses on something – not as exclusively or as intensely as Knight of Pentacles does, who also stares at a pentacle – but he is engrossed and studying something. Page of Pentacles is so much about identity that this Tarot card in Tarot Verbatim™ often translates as simply a pronoun: I or me, he or him.
Hierophant
Today we zone in on Hierophant’s ‘good image’ meanings because the good image is what the other two cards represent strongly. Face, conformity, what is acceptable to ‘everybody’ that they are supposed to believe (or pretend to believe), the official story, surface appearances, morality: Those are Hierophant’s meanings we are using today. That is because our today subject is strongly the distinction between who you are and what you appear to be to others – the rifts between being decent and being righteous, being right and seeming to be right.

Now Without The Pictures |
Page of Wands and Page of Pentacles are very close in meanings. As stereotypes, they are young men studying up to fit into their society, looking good to secure a place and ‘move on up.’ This meaning attaches to Pages because a Page in olden times was a young noble who went to another noble’s dwelling to learn the knighthood trade, so they were apprentices who were anxious to look good and pass muster so they too could own the estate and serve the king. Rider Waite is influenced by Europe in the Middle Ages, its concepts and customs.
Page of Wands emphasizes dressing well, speaking well, and being good-looking; Page of Pentacles emphasizes being a student, ‘who I am’ or identity, examining and thinking about things, having an opinion, feelings about some particular thing, and focusing on (whatever). Watch for this card in Tarot Verbatim™ to translate ‘me’ and ‘I’ as well as ‘he,’ and to be introspective.
Page of Wands and Page of Pentacles overlap in many of their meanings. Page of Pentacles has a little more emphasis on the ‘who I am,’ the introspective self-examination, as well as on the thinking and feeling aspects. Page of Wands is more projecting an image, being good-looking and well-spoken and well-dressed. When you put them together, sometimes they translate with the same words, and your sentences don’t say it twice because it sounds stupid. ‘Inspecting my image in a mirror’ is an example of the subtlety of their overlaps.
Page of Wands and Hierophant show a fellow who is conforming … conforming. Page of Wands is projecting an image, and Hierophant means projecting an image. Page of Wands is being a type, being any ‘certain type of person.’ The type would be named by surrounding cards. But here the two say ‘Mr. Right,’ and ‘He is my type,’ and ‘a normal guy.’ So he is a good person and moral too – because Hierophant is moral, and Page of Wands is ‘that type of person.’
