Six of Pentacles is giving or receiving attention or money, is an exchange or a transaction of any kind, and is getting what one deserves, in both senses of that phrase. It also serves as a justice card.
Star is being happy or glad, is having something or a lot to say, is feeling happy or good (or healthy), is being enthusiastic or gung-ho, is loving and saying ‘I love you.’
None of our spread-mates mean the same thing.
Four of Swords is not participating, not doing anything, being a couch potato or being retired. It is also being indifferent, which means not paying attention, and it sits next to Six of Pentacles which is ‘paying attention.’ Four of Swords is staying and is ‘used to it.’
Four of Swords makes all those Six of Pentacles phrases about giving or getting ‘not giving’ and ‘not getting. Four of Swords is indifference, and it sits next to wildly enthusiastic Star. That makes Six of Pentacles a justice card: the scales along with the story. Six of Pentacles applies to paying and receiving money, and applies to a fair exchange or transaction. It especially applies to the paycheck, of course.
In real Tarot practice, Six of Pentacles equally applies not only to paying money but paying attention, paying respect, giving credit for what is done, and giving and getting what is deserved.

Four of Swords Four of Swords just lies there all by himself. Most of his meanings arise from that. He also is about meditating (hence about spiritual life, and hence does belong to that theme). A knight candidate has to overnight in the cathedral, meditating on his life purpose as a knight, lying next to the relic that church has of some saint or hero. That is what our Four of Swords fellow is doing: a vision quest.
Four of Swords main translates are: not participating, not doing, rest and sleep, to be indifferent, to stay, to be used to, retired, to not respond. When it joins an action card, it negates the action, so Four of Swords ends up acting like a negator even though, strictly speaking, it isn’t one.

Chariot ………. Chariot is determined and able to get the job done, and done by any means possible. Queen of Swords represents that part of the emotional spectrum today. To her left is getting what you are entitled to, and treating people with respect, Six of Pentacles. To her right is joy, happiness, talk (explaining, praising, talking too much, cheering people up, performing). Particularly today, the combination of cards sheds some of the individual card meanings. Six of Pentacles is one of the ‘exchange’ cards which apply to exchanges of any kind, usually social or financial, which emphasize fairness and each party doing his part as agreed by all. Today it is directly about getting and giving what a person deserves because right next to it is someone who has not gotten what (she) is entitled to, and there’s another card of gratitude or rejoicing.
………………………….. Queen of Swords can be the bitch or a whining nag, but the card is bigger than that. This card shows a woman mourning a dead baby (the cherub’s face on her seat), and applies when a person is deprived or feels deprived of something he or she is entitled to – and it’s usually a woman. Queen of Swords is also demanding what you are entitled to. Queen of Swords is also a woman of strong character or a strong woman. This card can also refer to a victim.

It’s the inspiration of the muse during a performance – especially of singing. We start with a family that is, or that has, a problem, Ten of Pentacles, and then there is a child or a brat, Sun , and then we have Six of Pentacles which means receiving or giving (or paying) money or attention or respect. Lastly, Star is to talk, to praise, to be happy. These are the elements of today’s story.
Six of Pentacles and Star both are about giving someone his due. Six of Pentacles in the sense of paying attention, paying or giving money, giving respect that is deserved; and Star in the sense of encouraging, praising, saying or talking. These two cards together in Tarot Verbatim™ say ‘testify in court’ because Six of Pentacles is a court proceeding and Star means to talk.
Sun and Star both mean to be happy. Sun in the sense of having even reckless fun, being free of a restriction, cutting loose in an uninhibited way; Star in the sense of feeling good all over, singing for joy, telling everyone, pouring your guts out or telling all about it.

Ten of Pentacles is the dysfunctional family and the ‘baggage’ of our family background, the troublesome neighbors, the ghetto. But it also refers to the wealthy families and to any ‘bad’ organization like the mob, politicians or where you happen to work. Its illustration perfectly expresses a multi-generational family quarrel. Grandpa on his throne with that smug look that power gives certain people; the couple ‘discussing things,’ except husband is staring away while wife has this earnest look as she talks to him; and kid is squalling and pulling on mama’s clothes. The dogs know who the power in their family is: They are courting Grandpa.
Sun is the child or brat, and is also getting free of the home and being happy. Illustration shows a kid who has sneaked into the back yard naked to play with a jaundiced pony who is about to toss him and his banner.
Six of Pentacles is an exchange, a fair exchange. All parties are doing their parts fairly. Laborers have performed, and Employer is weighing out the coins into their worthy hands. Six of Pentacles is about getting what is deserved.
Star is healthy and happy, robust, and enjoying life singing in the shower. Feeling good all over. Glad. Pictured is a person in a bath, possibly a ritual bath. Star is about exuberant talk, enthusiasm, looking and feeling good.

MEANINGS AND ILLUSTRATIONS: OBSERVATION OF THE SPREAD
We start with the Ten of Pentacles family that has, or that is, a problem. (It means ghetto or neighbors as well.) Then up comes Sun, a brat (or a child, or children). Then Six of Pentacles means getting what someone deserves, or respect, or paying or getting money. And Star tells us someone is happy about this, or is talking about it.
MEANINGS AND ILLUSTRATIONS: INDIVIDUAL RIDER WAITE TAROT CARDS
Ten of Pentacles is the dysfunctional family, the ‘baggage’ of our family background, the troublesome neighbors, the ghetto. But it also refers to the wealthy families and to a ‘bad’ organization like the mob, politicians or where you happen to work. Its illustration perfectly expresses a multigenerational family quarrel. Grandpa on his throne with that smug look that power gives one; the couple ‘discussing things,’ except husband is staring away while wife has this earnest look as she talks to him; and kid is squalling and pulling on mama’s clothes. The dogs know who is the power here: They are with Grandpa.
Sun is the child or brat, and is also getting free of the home and being happy. Illustration shows a kid who has sneaked into the back yard naked to play with a jaundiced pony who is about to toss him and his banner.
Six of Pentacles is an exchange, a fair exchange. Both parties are doing their parts fairly. Laborers have performed, and Employer is weighing out the coins into their worthy hands. Getting what is deserved.
Star is healthy and happy, robust, and enjoying life singing in the shower. Feeling good all over. Glad. Pictured is a person in a bath, possibly a ritual bath.

Six of Pentacles is to pay what you owe honestly, and Hermit is honesty, and Ace of Pentacles is having money. All three of these cards involve what is right and doing what is right.
The idea of being rewarded is in both Six of Pentacles and Ace of Pentacles. Both of them are having money: Six of Pentacles is receiving or paying it, and Ace of Pentacles is possessing it.
Hermit is being on the Path and Ace of Pentacles is the Path.
Star means good health and Hermit is a healer and is sobriety. Hermit brings the truth and Star tells the good news.
MEANINGS AND ILLUSTRATIONS: INDIVIDUAL RIDER WAITE TAROT CARDS
Six of Pentacles is getting paid or paying, is getting what you deserve or giving others what they deserve. It is doing the right thing. An employer is shown weighing coins to pay his employees fairly. It is a justice card.
Star is one of the strange cards as far as the illustration and the meaning. Some ceremonial bath associated with a performance here means good health, talking, singing or acting, good news or publicity.
Ace of Pentacles has a juxtaposition of spirituality and money. The straight and narrow path is there for all to see, with its lilies in front and rose arbor at the far end, and with the hand with the large sum in it representing money and success. But it isn’t espousing the prosperity gospel of big corporate religion; it is saying that when you are on the right path, your life is all right.
Hermit’s meanings grow out of its picture: The monk goes out looking for travelers on the road to help them, bringing his light. He is an old man who is living an honest life of service to others, and he is a doctor as well, a healer. Being ‘on the Path’ is of course suggested. This isn’t one of the churchy cards.
