Tarot Readings for You for January 14, 2014 Tuesday©

Guidance     What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, they say. Today we take on that long slow hard row to hoe that is somewhere in most everyone’s life. Overcoming in that department is a major triumph, a triumph that may be shared with a loved one. If the challenge one person faces connects with another in a loving way, then a long-awaited victory over a past failure is shared with a partner.

Now,  Part Two,

Do you want to know a little, or a lot, about how this Tarot Verbatim™ thing works? If so,

*Go to Learn Tarot by Observing section below. This tells about the combined four pictures in the Tarot Readings – the pictures above here.  It explains how these four cards get together in your mind to make the messages.

*Go to Learn Tarot by Pictures.  It is what each of the four cards, by itself, has to say.  It shows you how that illustration makes that card’s meanings in today’s Spread. All the words of each Tarot card reading you see here are a phrase-by-phrase translation of the scene pictured on those cards: no filler, no psychic impressions, no spirit guide. Word-for-word Tarot Verbatim™.

You can put all this together and intuitively see yourself how Tarot Verbatim™ works.

This is a group reading, with no Questioner and no Question to limit what the cards say, so there’s more variety – even contradictions – and also the pronouns are more flexible. If it feels like it’s yours, and it says ‘he,’ and you’re a ‘she,’ feel free to adopt it anyway.

Five of Cups
Lovers – Ten of Wands – Ace of Swords

LEARN TAROT BY OBSERVING

First, Overlapping meanings in common in this spread:

Ten of Wands and Ace of Swords These two overlap a lot. Here are some of the things they mean separately: challenge; made it through; the most ever; monumental; the extreme of. Ten of Wands is the worst, the heaviest, and means slow going but getting there. Ace of Swords emphasizes the upside, winning, but also the other side of the same situation, defeat. (There’s a winner and a loser.)

Ten of Wands and Five of Cups   Each of these two cards means the following: feel so bad; the worst of it.

(End of ‘Overlapping’ section.)

Ten of Wands and Five of Cups  What hits you first as an experienced reader in this spread is: Here are the two cards whose primary meanings are depression. Ten of Wands is the burden on your back, slow going, too much to bear, taking on the whole burden. Five of Wands: Oh God, I wish I had never. Depression. Wishing I had not. How things would have been if only. Regret. Mourning. Bereavement. Heartsick and homesick. Haunted by the past.
“Nothing good can come from these two.” Except making it through the night, because Ten of Wands means slow going, hard going, but you do get there, you do make it.

Lovers and Ace of Swords    Lovers indicates the source of grief has to do with a/the loved one or a connection or contact. I strongly feel our story today includes grief for a beloved animal, of which I have quite a few myself. Ace of Swords just magnifies what we already have on the table. It means ‘absolutely,’ win/lose victory/defeat conquering or overcoming. And triumphing. Lovers and Ace of Swords together say ‘unconditional love’ too.

Once again, Five of Cups haunts this spread. Regret for the past, depression. Its mood is pervasive on the surrounding cards.

.

Lovers     A complex illustration births disparate meanings. Protection (which becomes insurance with the Ace of Swords which means both a threat and a guarantee). Any form of connection or contact or attachment (including mechanical attachments). To stand next to or stand with, to be together or joint or in partnership with. Divine or angelic protection or interest. Love affair and love relationship with passion (the volcano). In business, it is a partnership. In investment, it is joint interest. In litigation, it could be a codefendant or two claimants.

Its illustration in the Rider Waite (and just about any other) deck shows Adam and Eve, two people who are partners and lovers, with a volcano between them. Eve has her tree with the snake in it and Adam gets the tree of life. An angel is above them which brings the idea of protection. God of course is inherent in the pictured scene. The sunshine and greenery give the card a positive spin.

Ten of Wands
Doing it all in one trip, one load, doing it the hard way, taking on a huge project, slow going, chronic or long term condition or state, being so tired, exhausting, overwhelming or overwhelmed, depression. Simple illustration for all this in Rider Waite Tarot is a fellow loaded down with all the wood he can possibly handle, still making progress to where he is going.

Ace of Swords     Main message is victory, triumph, overcoming, winning definitively. Remember that the other side in a definitive win suffers a definitive loss, which the Delphic oracle did not remind an ancient general of when he and his army stopped by wanting to know the outcome of his invasion of Persia. It means being strong, doing something the hard way, asserting or aggression, force, must and have to, absolute, a mandate or command.

Illustration is a hand holding a sword upright which is crowned with the Roman victory laurel.

.

Five of Cups     Haunted by the past, sick with regret or bereavement or grief for a significant loss. Just being depressed, so depressed you are oblivious to what you do have going for you. Five of Pentacles feels this way too. Hope I don’t get a spread with both of them! The spilled wine suggests a waste. When you see Five of Cups with Ace of Swords, someone likely has a sickening loss.

Advice contrasts being an impulsive and natural (i. e. unimproved) person with being an enlightened person who is ‘on the path.’ It speaks of burdens and losses, of difficulty and slow going. It contrasts being edgy and egoistic with being patient and helpful. The gender of the cards that express this is male, so the message is directed to men in particular. It mentions being a devoted husband … who is missed.

===================================================================================

Is this the first time you come here? Well … what to do:

*Go to Daily Message Tarot Analysis below. At least one of those sentences has something to say to you. Pick those out. They are about you and the people around you. They are about today and the days around it. (It is a group message like a horoscope, except Tarot isn’t based on someone else’s birth data, so it can be specific, accurate, detailed and direct. Our experiment here is “How much more accurate is it?”)

*Go to Advice to apply what those sentences say (in the best way) for you. (Advice is everyone’s favorite part.) Did you come here for your predictions? – You are done now – See you tomorrow.

The Question for weekdays is: “Tell the visitors here something useful and meaningful to them. The Question for weekends is stated right on top on those days. (Some days are ‘keep an eye open for’ and some days are ‘green light, go fast.’)

Without a question to focus the answer, four cards can mean contradictory things especially when the Spread has a card that negates other cards. Without a question also the pronouns in a group reading are more flexible, especially in some of these Rider Waite Tarot spreads. When a pronoun is in parentheses, feel very free to substitute. The question in a ‘real’ individual reading supplies at least half the information!

MEANINGS AND ILLUSTRATIONS: OBSERVATION OF THE SPREAD

First thing that grabs you looking at these four Tarot citizens is the juxtaposition of King of Wands and Hermit. Diametrically opposite values are represented in these two.

King of Wands is the redneck, the country boy, the workingman, the common man, as well as the angry frustrated man.

Hermit is the patient, kind, supportive man who looks out for us and who goes out looking for a way to help his fellow traveler. Hermit represents ‘the truth,’ even.

King of Wands is ‘the natural man’ and ‘impulsive man’ (Christian and occult parlance, respectively) and Hermit is the enlightened man, the godly man.

The remaining half of our spread is about loss and depression. Five of Cups is loss, mourning, losing, waste. Ten of Wands is overwhelming burden, slow going, difficulties, and depression. The two together mean ‘overwhelming loss.’

MEANINGS AND ILLUSTRATIONS: INDIVIDUAL RIDER WAITE TAROT CARDS

Five of Cups is loss, mourning a loss, mourning a person, preoccupation about the past or about a loss, preoccupation to the point what is left is disregarded … hence, melancholy and depression. The concept is illustrated accurately by a black robed figure who contemplates the wine that is spilled and has its back to the wine that is remaining. We have all been there. Hopefully, not right now?

King of Wands is the ‘young soul’ of New Age parlance, the unenlightened soul. He is the common man, the working man, the impulsive man, the guy with the bad temper, the husband, and the irritated frustrated edgy dude down the street. The illustration shows a redheaded fella with a big stick sitting on a salamander-themed throne, his left hand in a fist on his thigh. He has high blood pressure for sure.

Hermit is the monk who serves his fellow traveler, who is out looking for people who have some trouble on the road. He carries a light in the dark. He is literally ‘on the path.’ So here is a kind supportive man who looks out for you.

Ten of Wands carries on in hard times, overwhelming burden on his back, slow going but is going to make it eventually. He has taken on the whole load. This is one of the cards that means sadness, depression and melancholy, as does the Five of Cups. When you see them together, there is a down feeling.
